What happens when a nation blessed by God begins to forget the One who blessed it?

In this special Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast interview recorded at the Christian Product Expo (CPE) Summer 2026, host TS Wright sits down with award-winning author Jolie Vogliardo to discuss her book, America, the Sleeping Giant and Her Slumbering Church.

Jolie shares her testimony of being raised in an atheistic home, coming to Christ at age 18, and developing a deep love for Scripture that ultimately shaped her ministry and writing.

Drawing heavily from Ezekiel 16, Jolie explains why she sees striking parallels between ancient Israel and modern America. Israel experienced extraordinary blessing but repeatedly turned away from God—and Jolie believes America and much of the American church face a similar spiritual crisis.

The conversation explores the dangers of complacency, materialism, cultural distraction, misplaced trust in political and religious leaders, addiction, idolatry, and spiritual lukewarmness.

Jolie also draws a compelling comparison to Samson, who was called to be a deliverer but fell asleep in the lap of Delilah. Could the American church likewise be sleeping while surrounded by forces seeking to weaken its spiritual influence?

TS Wright and Jolie emphasize that the answer is not ultimately found in political parties, personalities, governments, or earthly systems. Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God must remain first.

Yet this episode is not a message of hopelessness.

Jolie points listeners toward Psalm 139:23–24 and the necessity of personal examination, repentance, renewed love for Jesus, and wholehearted obedience to God. Before attempting to change a nation, believers must allow God to search and transform their own hearts.
