Unknown:

Hey, everyone, I'm Kelly Mobic, a coach and a

Unknown:

leadership trainer. And I'm super passionate about helping

Unknown:

you find out who you are authentically as a leader, own

Unknown:

it and go out and make an impact in your life and the lives of

Unknown:

others. This world needs your leadership, your gifts, your

Unknown:

unique brilliance. And I believe that real leaders don't wait.

Unknown:

They create. I know firsthand that life is going to throw us

Unknown:

curveballs that we're going to doubt our greatness, our ideas

Unknown:

and our contributions. And my goal is that you believe in

Unknown:

yourself beyond reason. And I get to be a coach and a champion

Unknown:

for you each week, so that you feel inspired, motivated, and

Unknown:

most important in action towards your unique impact in this

Unknown:

world. So let's jump in. Hey there, everyone, this is Coach

Unknown:

Kelly, welcome to episode 156. Of let's be honest, before we

Unknown:

start pretending I am so very happy you are here. Hey, how

Unknown:

many of you have listened to last week's episode where we had

Unknown:

coach Sylvia Fox on who is a dynamic aging coach and really

Unknown:

helped us understand so many things that go into optimizing

Unknown:

our health. She was amazing. She is amazing. And if you haven't

Unknown:

listened, please go check it out. It's such an inspirational

Unknown:

and empowering episode, I really feel. And since I have been on a

Unknown:

kick, called transformations and all the things that go into it,

Unknown:

as we're taking on transformations in our own

Unknown:

lives. Y'all know, I've been taking on a transformation in my

Unknown:

life. And like just taking all the lessons and the things that

Unknown:

we're learning and like what went into it to create success

Unknown:

and what goes into transformation to creating

Unknown:

success. So like, it's it's been fascinating and super fun. So

Unknown:

I'm so grateful coach, Sylvia was here to work with us around

Unknown:

transforming our health. That is one of my biggest

Unknown:

transformations this year. And Sylvia is amazing and such a

Unknown:

great resource. So connect with her, if you are up to a

Unknown:

transformation in your health also, because I think that she

Unknown:

is here for it. And I don't think she's here for it. I know

Unknown:

she's here for it. So thank you again, coach, Sylvia for being

Unknown:

here. So today, what I thought would be really fun since we're

Unknown:

on a transformation kick. And we are, you know, in the first

Unknown:

month of our second quarter of this year of transformations. I

Unknown:

thought I will break this down and I'm calling this

Unknown:

transformations Made Easy. She is not saying the sarcastically

Unknown:

but how do you help yourself really stay the course. Through

Unknown:

your transformation? Will it always be easy? Oh heck no. It

Unknown:

will not always be easy, but that's okay. Because sometimes

Unknown:

it will sometimes it will be hard. There will be a struggle.

Unknown:

It's kind of like this, you know the butterfly? Well, she did not

Unknown:

start out as a butterfly. No, she started out as a

Unknown:

caterpillar, a really, you know, Caterpillar kind of moving

Unknown:

through and then knew that it you know, senses or knows that

Unknown:

it's time to change and works itself into a cocoon. It gets

Unknown:

gooey, it gets gooey and lots of things are happening in there

Unknown:

beauty is evolving struggle is happening. Is it easy? Is it

Unknown:

hard? I don't know I'm not a butterfly. But I'm going to

Unknown:

suggest that probably all of that is absolutely a

Unknown:

possibility. And then what emerges the transformation? The

Unknown:

butterfly and she flies off. I mean, it just ah Do y'all have

Unknown:

butterflies when I was a kid, I'll never forget I had this

Unknown:

bedroom and this bedroom, my bedroom it was like pink, and

Unknown:

had this really cool like canopy bed this and that. And I was

Unknown:

getting a little bit too old for that Princess kind of right. And

Unknown:

I remember this was like this is one of those moments in

Unknown:

childhood that was transformational and in so many

Unknown:

different ways. I remember I was going to camp Fox for a week

Unknown:

which was a summer camp, summer camp in on Catalina Island,

Unknown:

which is in southern California 26 miles across the sea.

Unknown:

Catalina Catalina Island is the place to be so if you know, you

Unknown:

know. So I was going to camp Fox, I was super excited because

Unknown:

oftentimes at Camp Fox, not only was I there with people, you

Unknown:

know, that I already knew, you know, from school or whatnot,

Unknown:

but also like people that were at different schools that only

Unknown:

time I would get to see them was the annual camp Fox trip. And so

Unknown:

like all the fingers and toes crossed, they were going to be

Unknown:

there and oftentimes they were and I remember this trip that to

Unknown:

camp Fox was super fun, had a great time and then came home

Unknown:

and coming home was always sort of like kind of bitter Sweet,

Unknown:

you know what I mean? Like, it was a pivotal moment in summer.

Unknown:

Got to hang out and do really cool things with friends and

Unknown:

like the camaraderie and the laughter and the silliness. And,

Unknown:

you know, I mean, it's Catalina, it was like the ocean like, I

Unknown:

remember waterskiing on the ocean. And that was so amazing.

Unknown:

Until I saw jaws. That sort of changed. Anyhow, I digress. So

Unknown:

coming home was bittersweet, because you know, leaving like

Unknown:

this amazing week, but also then, you know, being able to go

Unknown:

home and, and reengage with my family and all the things right,

Unknown:

all the things and the rest of the summer. Well, this

Unknown:

particular time, I came home, and I went into my room, and it

Unknown:

had completely transformed like completely. It I was like, Wait,

Unknown:

where am I? Did I come home? Am I I lived on on Hopeton road? Is

Unknown:

that a great name? Hopeton like a ton of hope, I love that lived

Unknown:

on Hopeton road. And I know it was in my house. I knew I walked

Unknown:

into my house, right? I walked into this room and it was this

Unknown:

fabulous color of yellow sunshine, right? The carpet was

Unknown:

yellow. Some of the walls were yellow, like Sunshine Yellow,

Unknown:

this really bright yellow that didn't even occur to me. I liked

Unknown:

the color yellow, right? I was all over the pink. And I'm like,

Unknown:

What is this? Like, it was bright and lovely and joyful.

Unknown:

And then to the walls of the four walls in my bedroom to all

Unknown:

walls were the most magnificent wallpaper I had ever seen in my

Unknown:

life. Okay, it was this foil type wallpaper. And it had the

Unknown:

most beautiful butterflies and sort of greenery. And it was

Unknown:

like silvery and gold foil. I don't know, it was stunning. I

Unknown:

had never seen something like that. And I was like, Oh, is

Unknown:

this my room like I could not even handle it. Lose my room. It

Unknown:

was so joyful. And it was it was so full of change and promise

Unknown:

and, and joy. And it was just, it was extraordinary. Now, I

Unknown:

will tell you, I burst into tears, which happened often. And

Unknown:

it might still happen often. And they were pure tears of joy. And

Unknown:

also gratitude. I was like, What in the world like the whole room

Unknown:

was transformed. And it was like I almost couldn't believe that,

Unknown:

that my parents saw me and like, we never discussed colors,

Unknown:

wallpaper. The fact that I even liked butterflies, right? Like

Unknown:

this was I mean, talk about a leap of faith on my parents

Unknown:

part. Like we're gonna go ahead and transform this kid's room

Unknown:

while she's gone. And just like, hope and pray. She really loves

Unknown:

it. And they nailed it. I mean, they nailed it. Now, again, I'm

Unknown:

going back going, I don't think we've ever talked about it. But

Unknown:

you know what my parents knew me. So it was just one of those

Unknown:

moments where I was like, wow, what I am, I've been seen, I

Unknown:

have been transformed. And I think sometimes that's what

Unknown:

transformation is, is when we allow ourselves to see who we

Unknown:

are and who we are becoming who we are and who we are becoming.

Unknown:

And we get to decide, we get to evolve, we get to upgrade

Unknown:

whatever that means for us, right? But you know, you've

Unknown:

landed when you have that moment of Whoa, I see me like in that

Unknown:

wallpaper in that yellow, joyful room, I saw myself and it opened

Unknown:

up a whole new world of possibilities that I didn't even

Unknown:

know existed. Truly amazing, truly amazing. So I share that

Unknown:

with you because you know, I love butterflies and the like I

Unknown:

hadn't even planned to tell you that story before I turned on

Unknown:

the mic. I just hit butterflies and it transported me back to a

Unknown:

moment of transformation in my life. And here's the funny

Unknown:

thing. transformations can happen over time. And

Unknown:

transformations really are change the change that we're

Unknown:

wanting to create. That's what it is. They can happen over

Unknown:

time. They can be slow and steady. They can be slow and

Unknown:

Rocky. They can be quick. They can happen in a nanosecond. And

Unknown:

I gotta tell you, in that bedroom as a young girl, in a

Unknown:

nanosecond, I was transformed. I felt seen. I accepted the joy

Unknown:

that I exude. It's, uh, you know, like, That's a true story.

Unknown:

Like, I love joy and I it is something that exudes from me.

Unknown:

Okay, not every day I'm human, but most days He's right. And I

Unknown:

felt seen for who I am. And also when I started crying like they

Unknown:

didn't tell me to stop crying in that moment, that's usually what

Unknown:

I heard. Stop crying. You're crying, you're always crying,

Unknown:

stop crying. I didn't even hear it. They let they let me my

Unknown:

tears flew. So it was it was incredible. And so what I

Unknown:

thought is to like, as we're landing the plane on this sort

Unknown:

of mini series of transformations, I wanted to

Unknown:

talk about transformations made easy, because I think sometimes

Unknown:

people are afraid to take on the change they really want and

Unknown:

that's okay. Right? That's okay. It's okay to be afraid and to do

Unknown:

it anyway. Right to do it anyway. It really trusting

Unknown:

trusting the process, trusting your faith, it's okay to be

Unknown:

scared and do it anyway. Right? scared, afraid is just a

Unknown:

feeling. It's really, it's a feeling. Now, here's the

Unknown:

interesting thing.

Unknown:

There is a fine line between fear and excitement. There is a

Unknown:

fine line between the two of those. And so, you know, we can

Unknown:

really work ourselves up. You've heard me talk about that on one

Unknown:

of the past episodes, like, being really afraid. And I had

Unknown:

forgotten I'd forgotten I had forgotten not not that I forgot

Unknown:

my faith. Not I didn't forget that I just kind of lost sight

Unknown:

for a moment and really got wrapped up in fear until I

Unknown:

didn't anymore, okay. And so, I actually, believe it or not,

Unknown:

even though I was nervous about the knee replacement, I got kind

Unknown:

of excited about the new possibilities, right? And there

Unknown:

is a fine line between fear and excitement. Did you know, it's

Unknown:

literally the same thing, it's just that you've assigned a

Unknown:

meaning to it, right? I'm either afraid or I'm excited, okay,

Unknown:

you've assigned a meaning to it. And human beings are meaning

Unknown:

making machines we assign meaning to things all the time.

Unknown:

Here's a great example. Think about when you were into roller

Unknown:

coasters, and maybe some of you still aren't a roller coasters,

Unknown:

right? You like it's the new roller coaster at the amusement

Unknown:

park. Like the biggest the baddest the scariest one, right?

Unknown:

And you're standing in line and you got a whole lot of

Unknown:

anticipation happening. This happens for a lot of people.

Unknown:

Some are just like adrenaline junkies. Am I right? Oh, not me.

Unknown:

I'm like, let's go. But for a lot of us, we're like, getting a

Unknown:

little scared. I don't know, right? Like, you get that

Unknown:

feeling. And then you get Do you know what it feels like to feel

Unknown:

like the anticipation and the in the kind of scared and ah,

Unknown:

right, you know, that feeling. And then you get on the right.

Unknown:

And you start going and you click, click, click, click,

Unknown:

click, click, click, you know what that click is that's going

Unknown:

up the hill. What's on the other side of the hill, big drop, the

Unknown:

big drop, right click, click, click, and somewhere in the

Unknown:

click, click, click, click somewhere, somewhere, somehow

Unknown:

you've decided what kind of ride this is going to be? Is it going

Unknown:

to be full of fear and horror and that was awful. Or we're

Unknown:

going to ride this roller coaster like nobody's business.

Unknown:

And for most of us, that then becomes the decision. Hence,

Unknown:

excitement prevails. Okay. And now we're excited. And we're

Unknown:

laughing and squealing and all the things right? till we get to

Unknown:

the end. And we're like, that wasn't so bad. Maybe I'm gonna

Unknown:

get in line again. Okay. So that's just one example. There's

Unknown:

many examples in life, but there's a fine line between fear

Unknown:

and excitement. And so anyway, I digressed off to another place I

Unknown:

wasn't planning on talking about on this one unless I was okay.

Unknown:

So let's talk about transformations made easy,

Unknown:

because here's the thing, transformation is change

Unknown:

something that you want to shift in you. You all know, for me, I

Unknown:

have big health goals this year, two very critical milestones

Unknown:

called one knee replacement and the other knee replacement

Unknown:

happening and then doing the work to ensure that the knee

Unknown:

works. So that any excuse that I've ever had, because the knees

Unknown:

hurt all the time, on moving my body, exercising, having

Unknown:

activity, being able to finish losing weight that I've been

Unknown:

wanting to lose for a very long time. Like that's all gone,

Unknown:

right? That's all gone for me. And ultimately, the

Unknown:

transformation for me is that I am vibrant. And in my integrity

Unknown:

consistently. Again, you've heard me say this, I can be

Unknown:

Integris with everybody else can't we all but sometimes when

Unknown:

it comes to us Woopsie Okay, and like doing physical therapy at

Unknown:

home, nobody's watching me. Nobody's telling me what to do.

Unknown:

Except I know if I've done it or I haven't done it. And that

Unknown:

motivates me because you might remember me saying my two words

Unknown:

for the year is vibrant, and integrity. And so I like I am

Unknown:

here for the consistency. I'm here for the consistency.

Unknown:

Alright, so let's get into it. Let's talk about four things

Unknown:

that I think are 100% non negotiable when you are working

Unknown:

on change or working on transformation, and they will

Unknown:

help you have it be easier. Okay? And this is this is what

Unknown:

they are their four P's, I like threes, I like fours, I like

Unknown:

twos, I like to keep things simple that you can that you can

Unknown:

remember. And they are preparation, practice, process,

Unknown:

and persistence.

Unknown:

Those are some powerful PS powerful piece, right. And so

Unknown:

first and foremost, as you're working on anything that you

Unknown:

want to change, you got to prepare yourself for it. You got

Unknown:

a plan, that might be a fifth P, but I think plan goes with the

Unknown:

preparation, your plan is part of the preparation, right? You

Unknown:

got to prepare for it? What is going to be required of me? What

Unknown:

is going to be required of resources? Anything? What's

Unknown:

going to be required for me to step through? Is it planning? Is

Unknown:

it seeking out some information? Is it asking questions? Is it

Unknown:

getting help? Do you want to hire a coach? Do you want to

Unknown:

hire a trainer? Do you want to? You know, do you have

Unknown:

accountability partners, you know, what is going to be

Unknown:

required? And that's part of the preparation, thinking about it,

Unknown:

thinking about it? And not just thinking about it in the prep?

Unknown:

But like, yes, there's the thinking, but then there's also

Unknown:

the action? Is there something that's going to be required to

Unknown:

get myself ready for the next thing for the thing? In my case,

Unknown:

prior to knee surgery? Absolutely. It was asking

Unknown:

questions, getting help, lots of help. You've heard I've talked

Unknown:

about it on the episode, so I will spare you the repeat. But

Unknown:

it was also physically preparing myself not just mentally,

Unknown:

emotionally, or like, you know, having questions answered this

Unknown:

and that but also physically working on core strength working

Unknown:

on upper body strength so that I could support myself as the knee

Unknown:

was healing, you know, things like that, things like that. So

Unknown:

prepare, when as I'm going into this transformation, I'm going

Unknown:

into this change, what must I prepare with what's going to be

Unknown:

required of me? What's the help, etc. Okay, second thing, now

Unknown:

we're getting into it, like we have stepped into the

Unknown:

transformation. And we get to practice, right, we get to

Unknown:

practice the things that we are instilling. So for instance, for

Unknown:

me, it was a lot of practicing mindset, practicing, I prayed.

Unknown:

That's a practice. That's an action. Right. I also asked for

Unknown:

help. And I worked with a hypnotherapist, and I also

Unknown:

worked with a tam created a you guys remember, coached him, he

Unknown:

created a great visualization for me. And like just kept

Unknown:

practicing, I practiced, you know, my like, how am I doing

Unknown:

all my strength? Can I lift more? How's my core? Can I

Unknown:

engage it easier, right? Practicing through the process,

Unknown:

also practicing moving through the house with having not having

Unknown:

the knee work the way that it that it wants to work? Okay, so

Unknown:

like I'm rambling a little bit here, but you get the idea. What

Unknown:

are the practices that I will put into place to support me

Unknown:

through the transition? And think about what you're up to?

Unknown:

What could those things be? What are those things? What are those

Unknown:

things? What could they be? And what's the practice that I'm

Unknown:

going to put into place because practice creates progress.

Unknown:

Practice creates progress, and then even through the

Unknown:

transformation like right now, practicing walking in a whole

Unknown:

new way. I was really, it was really interesting to me to

Unknown:

learn that I have a nifty new knee. And I'm still walking

Unknown:

exactly the same way I walked when I had my bum knee walking

Unknown:

exactly the same way that I walked. So when my physical

Unknown:

therapist sees me, or my husband sees me or a friend sees me,

Unknown:

they're like, Hey, you, you're walking the way you used to

Unknown:

walk. And I'm open to that, I want to know that because I

Unknown:

spent so many years overcompensating and walking in

Unknown:

a whole different way, that that's what that's what my body

Unknown:

knows. So it's like practicing walking correctly so that my

Unknown:

hips work, my ankles work my backwards, the knee is working.

Unknown:

So it's like practicing a whole new way of walking, one that I

Unknown:

am unfamiliar with, because it's been many years. So the third P

Unknown:

is process. Now, this can be a couple of different things when

Unknown:

we're talking about process. Because as you're going through

Unknown:

transformation, creating the change that you want, there's a

Unknown:

process to it and sometimes it's an obvious process and sometimes

Unknown:

it's a process that the good old universe has put into place

Unknown:

okay. I always say this trust the process, because many times

Unknown:

we're gonna try to force a current, we're going to try to

Unknown:

have it our way, do it this way, have it be perfect control,

Unknown:

blah, blah, blah, you get where I'm going with this. Here's the

Unknown:

thing, trust the process, I always say this more will get

Unknown:

revealed. And when you're open to that, when you're open to

Unknown:

that, here's the second thing that occurs, what am I learning

Unknown:

through this process? What am I learning because the results are

Unknown:

golden, but the learning is platinum. I can leverage that.

Unknown:

So if I'm open to the process, and I'm trusting the process,

Unknown:

okay, you're following me, more gets revealed that I can

Unknown:

leverage, okay, that I can leverage. So I think the process

Unknown:

the process, part of it is key in transformation. And then

Unknown:

finally, our fourth P, super important. Persistence, stay

Unknown:

persistent. Because on the days that you don't feel like it and

Unknown:

you will have those days, persistence, and being

Unknown:

persistent, will help you move through it. Okay, we'll help you

Unknown:

move through it, you'll get on the other side of whatever that

Unknown:

little hurdle was, whatever that struggle was, whatever, whatever

Unknown:

was right there. And you'll look back at it and go, Oh, okay. All

Unknown:

right. I got you. I see you, and I did it anyway. Okay. So let me

Unknown:

review our four P's. And honestly, I could add so many

Unknown:

piece to this, but I wanted to give you these, it's

Unknown:

preparation, practice, process, persistence, okay, I'm gonna

Unknown:

throw a fifth pn, I can't help it. Purpose, purpose. Here's why

Unknown:

everything leads to that. Because again, on those days,

Unknown:

where you got to really lean into being persistent, the thing

Unknown:

that's going to help motivate you to actually stick with these

Unknown:

four P's is purpose, that's the fifth P. Okay? Purpose. It's,

Unknown:

it's telling you why you're doing this. It's telling you why

Unknown:

it's important to you. And it will help you move through with

Unknown:

so much more clarity, more motivation, and you will be so

Unknown:

happy for it. Right now, when this is airing, I am eight weeks

Unknown:

post op, eight weeks post op, and the knee is really working.

Unknown:

It's really, really working. I'm still practicing how to walk.

Unknown:

That is an interesting process, still practicing, looking at

Unknown:

what works, looking what doesn't work, really capturing all the

Unknown:

things that I'm learning along the way. And you know, what's so

Unknown:

interesting is I'm noticing there's a different level of

Unknown:

integrity, there is a different level of vibrancy. And there is

Unknown:

a different level of trust. And so holding on to those four p's

Unknown:

and keep and to continue to implement them. Because even

Unknown:

though I'm on the other side of me one, we're working now

Unknown:

towards me two, we're working with me one I'm not really on

Unknown:

the other other side. But you know what I mean, the other side

Unknown:

of surgery, we're still we're in the in the therapy part of it.

Unknown:

So we're still working with it. And now we're working towards me

Unknown:

to write. And here's the thing that I'm finding so interesting.

Unknown:

Like, in my mind, I was like, Okay, once your knees are good,

Unknown:

then you can exercise. Well, you know, we're doing physical

Unknown:

therapy, we're exercise.

Unknown:

Know what I was thinking that was gonna be, we're exercising,

Unknown:

I can feel it, I can feel other parts of my body getting

Unknown:

stronger. And you know what, I like it, I like it. And so guess

Unknown:

what, there's no waiting leaders don't wait, we create. And so

Unknown:

that was one of the mind blowing things that in the process of

Unknown:

this I learned, I'm like, oh, it's not like removing the

Unknown:

excuses. It's leaning into the new and doing the things that

Unknown:

are going to have you be vibrant and being integrity. Okay. So, I

Unknown:

had so much fun sharing those things with you. Like I said,

Unknown:

there were a few things in there. I wasn't planning but

Unknown:

they seemed relevant. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are

Unknown:

on this, I'd love to hear about the transformations that you are

Unknown:

creating. They're so important. And it really is a fascinating

Unknown:

thing to to dissect these and really, like get into how to

Unknown:

have this be an easier and smoother way through, even on

Unknown:

the hard stuff. So remember, you have a choice to lead your life

Unknown:

or follow your circumstances. Life is about knowing your

Unknown:

passions, your purpose, your values, creating an impact in

Unknown:

your life and the life of others and who emerges from taking the

Unknown:

lead in their lives are authentic, vulnerable,

Unknown:

courageous, and I'm mean for peeing five peeing. Okay, that

Unknown:

sounds really funny. Using those five P's to slay through your

Unknown:

transformations and your changes. It is not always going

Unknown:

to look the way we think it's supposed to and we Really get to

Unknown:

trust that more will be revealed as we move forward. should

Unknown:
