And now, this week's episode.
Speaker:
00:00:24
When it comes to editing your podcast, it can be tempting to make it too polished, to the point where it doesn't flow as well as it should.
Speaker:
00:00:30
And it's understandable. After all, you want to offer your listeners the best experience you can.
Speaker:
00:00:34
But to make each episode as good as it can be, there are three quick changes you can make to help it sound as natural as possible.
Speaker:
00:00:40
Number one, don't delete every um.
Speaker:
00:00:43
Yes, they can be very conspicuous if there are a lot, but at times they can also be a very natural part of the conversation.
Speaker:
00:00:49
So when someone's thinking of a point to make, for example.
Speaker:
00:00:53
So leave those ones in.
Speaker:
00:00:54
Number two, don't be too aggressive on removing breaths.
Speaker:
00:00:57
Much like ums, they can be conspicuous
Speaker:
00:01:00
if someone is particularly breathy when speaking.
Speaker:
00:01:02
But if you're too aggressive on this, it can sound choppy
Speaker:
00:01:05
because now natural breaths are also removed
Speaker:
00:01:07
and you get that staccato vocal effect.
Speaker:
00:01:09
And number three, don't rely on AI too much
Speaker:
00:01:12
to remove filler words and spaces.
Speaker:
00:01:14
Yes, it can save you time,
Speaker:
00:01:16
but you can always tell when a podcaster's used AI
Speaker:
00:01:18
to remove filler words and not checked it,
Speaker:
00:01:20
because the space between words and sentences
Speaker:
00:01:22
is much more prominent and jumpy
Speaker:
00:01:24
and sounds super unnatural.
Speaker:
00:01:25
You don't need to make huge changes
Speaker:
00:01:27
to your editing process,
Speaker:
00:01:29
but making one or all of the three mentioned here
Speaker:
00:01:31
will help each episode flow better.
Speaker:
00:01:33
