Pastor Wayne Willmore Carey, is a Son of the Soil, Native of Freeport Grand Bahama; Born to the Parents of Roland and Evangelist Agnes Carey. He is the tenth of ten children. A Christian Counselor who has a grand and diverse portfolio. He holds many titles that include; Husband, Father, Ordained Minister, Mentor, Trained Mental Health advocate, Motivator, Trained Divorce, Family and Business Mediator, Trained Mental Health Coach, (First Responders) Trained Youth Mental Health Coach, Leadership, Relationship and Life coach, A Conflict Resolution Strategist, Author, of the Book “The Emotional Pain That Bullying Causes” and Conference host. He is a former Bahamas National Basketball Team player and Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2015 Inductee.

His passion is to support Leaders in the Challenges of Leading others and to inspire common people to become uncommon achievers while living their dreams. He has spent over three decades working with students and adults to help them become trail blazers in their communities. He humbly serves as the assistant Pastor at the Whole man Christian Center under the Leadership of his Mentor and Spiritual father Rev Dr. Rudolph K. Roberts.

Wayne worked in the Guidance and Counseling department within the Ministry of Education since 2005-2021, and now leads Wayne Carey Global Leadership Solutions as CEO. A Coaching, Speaking, and Training business whose vision is to transform the mind of leaders to become global influencers, and mission is to inspire leaders to maximize the potential of those they lead.

He and his wife are the founders of a Non-profit organization Family Empowerment Youth Mentoring (FEMYO) a community organization that addresses the educational and social needs through mentoring with other community initiatives. They are founders Of C.R.I Conflict Resolution Institute- A program designed to trained adults and Children from k-2 level through 12 grade practical Conflict Resolution skills; and also founders of Elevation Leadership Academy. Youth Max kids 8-11 and Youth Max Teens Ages 12-18, inspired by leadership principles of John Maxwell.

Pastor Carey’s educational background includes a Diploma in Ministerial training from Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow Oklahoma, A Diploma in Mental Health Coaching and a Master Diploma in Mental Health Coaching: Youth Mental Health from Light University. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministries and a Master’s of Ministry in Christian Counseling from Christian Bible College and Seminary in Missouri. _

Pastor Carey has also successfully completed the John C. Maxwell Certification program and is recognized as a certified and licensed John C. Maxwell International Leadership Coach, Speaker and trainer

What part of the world are you in today?

I'm from Freeport, Guantanamo, in the Bahamas.

Yes, sir.

Freeport, Dr. Myles Monroe says, is the place where God lives and he visits everyone else.

Myles Monroe, wow.

The Caribbean has not ever seen anyone like Myles.

The world as well, like Myles.

Yeah, he's a special guy.

I wish you my testimony when it comes to his life.

I had an opportunity.

I'm from Freeport and Nassau is about...

Actually, we are closer to, I think, Miami than Nassau.

Every summer, we take a trip over.

He had his kingdom summit, so I started to follow him and whatnot like that.

Then he started to...

Matter of fact, he had a ministry over here called Real Men.

He established a Real Men ministry and he would come over.

He would come over and then, so we got to know each other.

He got to know me personally.

But I had a dream, I had a vision, matter of fact, about three visions.

But the first vision that got me fueled up, it was in a vision, we were going in opposite directions.

He had some books in his hand, had a young man walking along with him.

For some reason, I got lightheaded.

So I went on my knees and I just went on my back.

So what he did, he gave the books to the young man and he came and just lay on top of me in the vision.

So it's like hand to hand, just lined up, just like that.

So he started to pray.

So I felt this cool air sensation just go into my body.

So he got up and when he got up, my eyes opened up, but I was still on the ground.

So he's looking down at me and he's pointing.

He said, you know what I want you to do for me?

He says, go and take the youth of the nation.

So he walks back and he was not finished.

He said, I want you to take the youth of the nation and the world.

I believe with my brother, I got up and I mean, I wrestled with that dream, wrestled with the dream.

Finally, I woke up, shared with my mom, and this is about more than 16 years ago.

But what had happened when he came into Freeport, I was able to share this dream with him personally, in real life.

So I said, man, doc, I always wanted this opportunity to connect with you, one on one.

We was bowling, went to the bowling, you know, men just got together bowling and afterwards, you know, we both of us were on the same team.

So we bowled.

So after we done, everyone kind of thin out and we sat down.

He said, I said, man, doc, I wanted to share this dream.

So I shared the dream with him and he had this big smile.

He said, Wayne, he said, you don't want anything more clearer than that, more clean.

He said, that's exactly what you do.

You know, he said, man, so when I come back to grandma, I want you, I want to know that you're taking the kingdom message to the world.

He said, that's a clean dream and that's what you got to do.

You know, so I was able to share that with him, but he's a great man.

Great, great, great man.

And, you know, he always definitely, he, he's a part of our family, you know, and so many others around the world.

So he definitely made his impact.

And so that's what I'm trying to do, make my impact in the world, you know, and just, just doing, you know, for, for the kingdom of God.

How did you initially come to meet Jesus?

I was 15 years old, 15 years old.

My older brother, Keith, he attended a church, it's a Baptist church called Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy, actually Tabernacle Baptist Church, but they have a school, Christian Academy School too.

So my brother, he's older than I am.

And so he got saved and, you know, little brothers tend to follow the big brother, you know, so I, but I went to church, I visit church and I broke and I just, I just got broken in the, you know, in the presence of God.

And I walked up to the altar, 15 years old.

And, but it was, you know, you know, at 15 years old, you're in school, you're, you know, young and, you know, so it was like, you know, when it comes to the preparation, these different things, you know, you tend to, you know, but that initially at 20, at 15 years old, when I first accepted Christ, but we can fast forward.

I played basketball.

I was the number one basketball player here in the Bahamas, got a basketball scholarship, you know, attended Tyler Junior College in Texas.

And so when I did that, you know, I was pretty, I was pretty, you know, pretty good.

Most persons would think I would make, you know, I would have made it to the NBA.

And so when I got to college, I got injured, had a, had a, had a real back, you know, real back injury, you know, could not play to, you know, to the best of my abilities.

And so, you know, the coach, very disappointing news.

So the coach looked, you know, looked me in my eye, you know, at 19 years old, 18, 19 years old, said, hey, you know what, you, I'm going to send you back home because, you know, you're not playing to your ability and whatnot.

So I came, that was a dark point in my life.

And so when I came home, I really, you know, I just got into mischief and, you know, no purpose, didn't understand what was really going on in my life.

And I, you know, I remember, you know, during that period, I battled, you know, depression, had, you know, did not any desire to live.

As a matter of fact, I mean, I came to the point of, of actually committing suicide, you know, really attempting suicide.

I came to that point in my life and, and during, during that period, during that period, when, you know, when God delivered me from, you know, from that particular area, that's when really my, my ministry and life really took off, you know, during, during that, I would think I was about early 21, 22 years old, between 21 to 22 years old, just broken.

And I just, you know, I remember rededicating my life, going to church, church had about three, 400 people there.

And, you know, the usher wanted me to sit in the backseat.

So she asked me, you know, I was, I was late.

So, you know, so if I could sit in the back, I said, miss, in this, you know, this conviction was so strong.

I said, miss, I don't want to sit in the back of no church.

As I want to sit in the front, you know, so I looked, I saw my sister-in-law, I sat next to her.

And so the, you know, the preacher, it wasn't like a preaching sermon.

It was just something they talk about building fun and things of that nature.

But he, he tried to close church.

And when he, when he went to, you know, say, okay, now this is my last point.

And I tap, I tap a friend of mine who was like, in the second row, I think I was in the third row.

And I told him, I said, tell his pastor that he can't out church.

So I came in and rededicated my life to the Lord, man.

It kind of just shocked everyone because it wasn't like a service like that, you know, but that's just, it was just God conviction, you know?

And so after that, you know, I prepared myself for, I see the Lord allowed me to attend Raymer.

I went to prepare myself from, you know, for ministry.

So I went to Raymer Bible College, met Kenneth Hagan, Dr. Kenneth Hagan, senior, was over there for about two years, came back home.

We came back home, you know, I work closely with my, you know, with my past in ministry.

So we do a lot of youth work in, you know, in the community, working with a lot of men and, you know, just, just going into the schools with mentoring programs and things of that nature.

And just, you know, just planting seeds, you know, just seeds for the kingdom of God and for God's glory.

And that's basically what, you know, what it's all about.

For those that are listening, FEMU is Family Empowerment Youth Mentoring.

That's correct, right?

And that's something that you guys founded, or that was something that was happening and you eventually latched onto it?

Yeah, we basically, well, you know, we've been in youth and ministry, actually in the community for about 30, I would say about 31 years, been doing that.

But what I do, yeah, we founded a Family Empowerment Youth Mentoring organization.

We had a Family Empowerment Youth TV program where it's just highlighting kids, you know,

again, you know, because of what I, what I realized as a, as a, as a counselor, as a guidance

counselor in the school systems, you know, you're, you know, you, you understand, you know, your

hands on the pulse, you, you see a lot of kids who are uncertain of themselves, you know, identity

crisis, you know, their self-esteem is pretty low, you know, they, they, you know, and when,

when they're not certain of themselves, it's easy, you know, so, so easily for them to be,

to be bullied, you know, when kids know that you don't have this confidence in yourself, you know,

and so, you know, my heart goes out for that.

And so when we, when we, I'm just working in the school system after that, but we, you know, we, we would, I'm not retired, but we came out of the, out of the government system, and so we have a, we run a program in Morris Moore Primary School.

We run a mentoring program there, and then there's another program that we run at Grace, at, at Grace, Grace Bible School.

We have a program there, myself and another gentleman by the name of Chuck Coldbrook.

He works along closely with us and, you know, that's,

yeah, so, so family, family empowerment, you know, youth mentoring organization,

you know, dealing with the educational aspect of kids, and just, just giving them, there's a lot

of young men who doesn't have father figures, and so I'd always try to get parents to, you know,

even if it's not, you know, it's not me, because sometimes you can get crowded with so much,

I'd always just point them out to, hey, you know, if you, if you're part of a church, find a,

find someone that is, you know, that, that, that you, you know, you have a rapport with,

that they can be able to, to help you with your son, you know, in that sense like that,

because mentoring, mentoring is very important.

What I, what I realize about mentoring, mentoring isn't what I want for you.

Mentoring is what, what you want for yourself.

When you says to me, okay, I want to be, I'm just asking a question, what do you, what do you want?

What is your interest?

And when you said, you know, my interest, I want to be an electrician, then I would say, okay, I can't, I'm not going to tell a man, you know, why not be a baller, you know, you six foot eight, come on, you need to go be a, you know, that's not my business, but if they said they want to be an electrician, then it's my job as that mentor to come alongside them.

And, and, you know, even if I don't have, if I don't know anything about it, I know someone, and, you know, just try to get them resources and try to push them along those lines, you know, and, and, you know, in their life, whether they can be successful in that.

And so we've seen that in so many areas where, where kids are, you know, become confident, they're growing in themselves, and I'm just see them blossoming, you know, blossoming in the things of God.

And so that's, that's really what it's about.

That's our heart to, you know, to, you know, to do that in community.

And I'm, I'm big on, if you, you look in the bio, I'm big on mental health, big on mental health, because of where I came from in terms of just battling depression and, and, and, and, you know, battling depression, attempted suicide and things of that nature.

So I'm, I'm big on mental health, has a, you know, a master diploma in that area dealing with using mental health coaching and things of that nature.

So, you know, just, just, just basically,

you know, mental toughness, I'm sharing the word with them and allowing them to know that, hey,

God has, God has so much more for your life and just having them to understand that, you know, we,

we could achieve so many things in our, in our natural self, but it's nothing that, you know,

you know, there's nothing like when we allow God to be a part of the process,

by and large, you know, that makes it so much easier.

Five years from today, you're listening to this conversation, you'd have heard the evolution of what I would imagine would have been a very angry young man at one point, doing a lot of mischief, right?

Coming into meeting God, meeting your wife, having your son as a, as a, as a fruit of that marriage, having grandchildren now, what's a message you'd leave for future you?

Being patient with the process of life and realizing that seasons are not permanent, you know, it's seasons, that's why it's called seasons.

And so when we are, when we are patient, there's a lot of process, like for me, the, you know, going to that point of, you know, wanting to commit suicide, attempting suicide, that is making a permanent decision when it was something, it wasn't a permanent situation, but making a permanent decision in that, understand that God has given you grace, and he is going to get you through it.

And so that's just my message, even when I'm speaking to, you know, to anyone, you know, when you're in a spot, you know, in a dark situation, just knowing that God is, God is more than able to, you know, to bring us out that we are not going to be, you know, remain in that.

And so I'm calm in the midst of the storm, you know, myself, calm in the midst of the storm.

And so, you know, no matter what comes, it's like just knowing that it's going to work out.

And so that has helped me in my youth.

And it's even more so, you know, going into, into my 55th year and, you know, just watching, you know, seeing what God has done before and know that he can do it again, do even more so.
