Dr. Jeff Fisher has been a chiropractor for 30 years.
He knows a thing or two about the spine and how best to care for it and the whole person.
After enduring 3 neck surgeries and the pain that did not get relieved from the operations, he’s invented a device to alleviate neck and lower back pain.
The promise of the device — as proven by lots of satisfied customers — is, “Long-term relief from neck and lower back pain is as easy as lying down.”
There’s a video on the page I linked above that will tell you more.
I had Dr. Fisher explain what chiropractic is in terms of wholistic health because I knew there was more to it than just adjusting the spine.
Here’s what he had to say.
“We don't do drugs. We try to help people get off medication because we're interesting, our patients more in the framework of the human body from a neurological and structural standpoint to help the body function at its maximum capacity.
When we function at our optimal working levels then we're less susceptible to disease, we're less susceptible to injuries.”
Did you know that hydration is important to the health of the cushion in our joints? And that we are tallest first thing in the morning? Lying down relieves the spine of the force of gravity allowing the disks to expand.
One of my favorite quotes of the year: “I'm only alive as I'm active.”
As have so many of my other guests, Dr. Fisher believes that movement = quality of life. The importance of moving daily, in different ways, means we have a better chance of aging with flexibility, strength, and energy.
“Whether you're getting adjusted in an office, you're stretching, you're doing your traction and decompression, going to yoga, doing Pilates, whatever it might be, if it's enhancing your flexibility, your ability to move, it's enhancing life and you have to do it.”
He is a big fan of Pilates for helping the corrections he does, stick. Like a retainer you wear after getting your braces off.
“Pilates is a fantastic balance, coordination, strength, and conditioning type system it can be done on a horizontal basis, not vertical. So it really protects the spine.”
Oh how I wish I liked it more.
The key to success in any kind of corrective adjustments or exercise is committing to the process. #Truth
We talked about “Tech neck”, an all too common problem these days because of all the rounded and head forward postures do each day.
He left us with 3 simple, and free, things to do for a healthy 2023.
Hydrate, get exercise, practice being flexible, when you move, use your whole body and go in all directions.
Sounds simple to me.
And if you know you want to add more of those things to your life but can’t figure out how to start, use me. A 15-minute call is all it takes to point you in the right direction. You’ll also leave with next steps.
One other thing Dr. Fisher wanted to make sure we took to heart, it’s never too late to start.
