In this episode, we unpack how our identity impacts our prayers, and I may float the possibility that we pray immature prayer at times!
2 Peter 1:3 states: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.”
We have everything we need to be victorious in our lives. He said he’s made everything available, but we don’t always pray or live as though that is true. Sometimes we expect these things to hit us in the face with no intention on our part.
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
When I’m asking him for something that he’s already promised me, I think I’m in a posture of unbelief. I think this is a big part of why believers don’t live victoriously and from a position of confidence. We act like we are needy victims that are constantly in need, but if we’ve exchanged our old lives for a new life with Christ, if he is living inside of us, we are NOT needy victims!
Instead of asking for his presence, his strength, his peace - things that he has specifically promised us - THANK HIM for them in the middle of feeling alone, weak, confused and in turmoil.
“Open my eyes to see and my mind to understand how to access the peace/strength that you have available for me.”
**Key takeaway -
- “He has given me everything I need for living a godly life.” - taken from 2 Peter 1:3
- Say this over yourself when you feel defeated, alone, overwhelmed, weak, etc…say it until you believe it. Write it on sticky notes to put around your house or dorm; get the truth of it into your soul.
- Determine what it is that you need. Do you need clarity? Strength? Peace? Courage? Find a promise regarding it, thank God for it, then move toward accessing the promise.
- He’s not hiding what you need; he’s inviting you to seek it, go after it, like you would go after treasure like Proverbs talks about.
**Truths to remember -
- “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jer. 29:13
- “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19
Most of us are looking for a breakthrough somewhere in our life. Remember this - you probably don’t need a big change; you just need a small revelation that can shift everything. So don’t overlook the small stuff!
