It's so empowering to recognize that you can grow in the direction of your goals. Think about the vision you have for your business or your life, and who is the person you need to become to achieve your vision. Hey Goal achievers, welcome to Elite Achievement, your Goto podcast for service based business owners who want to achieve their goals and grow their businesses. I'm Kristin Burke , your host and coach, here to help you achieve your goals. Together, let's close the gap between the goals you set and the goals you achieve.

lite achievement. My word for:

de, my top lessons learned in:

long time. I remember back to:

00:02:21

Since the year was:

00:03:29

I would talk about my upcoming long runs because I knew if I told someone I had an 18 or 20 miles training run to do on Saturday, I had to complete the training run just in case they would ask me about it the next time I saw them. They often didn't ask me about the training run, but going public was such a powerful motivator for me to get it done. I was able to use this insight about my goal achieving tendencies to go public last year on my podcast about my course, a course that I knew I wanted to create for a long time and finally created it last year. If you haven't set personal goals for the year, I recommend you start by answering two questions. One, what do you want more of?

::

Two, what do you want less of? Answering these questions and then writing down what comes up for you provides you with guidance as to what's important to you so you can set intentional personal goals. If you are looking for more support with goal setting, you can take my course, goal setting success, where I will guide you through my proven process that has helped my clients have their best years ever, double their production, and move into the leadership roles in their visions. Check out the show notes to learn more and sign up for the goal setting success course. It's been said that the books you read, people you surround yourself with, and I'll add the podcast you listen to will impact the person you are five years from now.

::

I want you to take a minute and think back to who you were five years ago. Pause the episode and think about who you were, where you were, and what you were doing five years ago.

::

As you thought back what came up for you. Did you feel proud? Did you feel surprised? Did you feel disappointed? Did you feel frustrated?

::

No matter what came up for you, I want you to know that you have the power to grow in the direction you want to grow. Five years ago, I wasn't a business owner. I wasn't a podcaster, and I wasn't a course creator. I was a coach. But I was coaching within my corporate role, not as a coach for my own business.

::

three different coaches since:

00:06:20

I remember when I hired my first coach. I wasn't sure how I would be able to pay for her coaching, but I knew I wanted to invest in myself. I ended up earning bonuses and incentives which covered the cost of her coaching and more. She was instrumental in helping me make the decision to start my business. My goal for my first year in business was $250,000 in revenue so I could apply to join an entrepreneurs group.

::

I achieved that goal and joined that group which supported my business growth at the time. This year, I joined a mastermind to learn more about online businesses and to have the accountability to create and launch my course. Goal setting success over the past couple of years, I developed a yoga and meditation practice to learn to listen to my own intuition and to work on being present. All of this focus on reading and having a coach and joining masterminds and practicing yoga and practicing meditation helped me show up as a better business owner and as a better coach for my clients. It's so empowering to recognize that you can grow in the direction of your goals.

Think about the vision you have for your business or your life and who is the person you need to become to achieve your vision. You can use a tool called a development plan to work towards the person you want to become. Last year, I had several conversations with clients around creating a development plan and loved helping them create their plans because those plans are helping them move closer to their visions. A development plan is highly personal and outlines how you want to grow in order to achieve your goals. It allows you to be in control of your development and can consist of skills you want to learn, behaviors you want to develop, and beliefs you want to grow.

::

Having a development plan will allow you to be even more intentional with the books you read, the podcasts you listen to, the coaches you collaborate with, and the courses you complete. To create a development plan, simply ask yourself the question, how do I need to grow to get the results I desire? You can then turn your answers into a few objectives to include on your development plan and determine specific action steps to take in order to achieve the objectives. The term development plan can sound overwhelming, but when you carve out time to think about how you want to grow, it's not complicated to start to identify the objectives and actions to include in your development plan. For example, one of my clients objectives on her development plan is to become a better coach.

::

In order to accomplish this objective, she is going to read relevant books, seek feedback from mentors and her mentees and journal. By including an activity such as journaling, she is combining a personal goal with her development plan. It's impactful when you are able to integrate personal goals into your development plan. I was once told you have to grow personally in order to grow professionally and then you grow financially. As we near the end of January, it's not too late to set goals or to create a development plan.

::

When you set and strive to achieve your personal goals, you grow your confidence, your belief in yourself, and you create momentum. This momentum and energy carries over into your business and will help you achieve your business goals. You have the opportunity to grow yourself this year. Are you going to take advantage of this opportunity or are you going to let it go to waste? The choice is yours.
