Speaker:Welcome to the Atlanta Tennis Podcast.
Speaker:Every episode is titled,
Speaker:It Starts with Tennis and Goes From There.
Speaker:We talk with coaches, club managers,
Speaker:industry business professionals,
Speaker:technology experts, and anyone else we find interesting.
Speaker:We wanna have a conversation as long as it starts with tennis.
Speaker:(upbeat music)
Speaker:Hey, hey, this is Shaun with the Atlanta Tennis Podcast,
Speaker:powered by GoTennis.
Speaker:Check out our calendar of Metro Atlanta Tennis events
Speaker:at Let'sGoTennis.com.
Speaker:And today we are talking about our fall festival.
Speaker:It is the 2024 Go Tennis and Pickleball.
Speaker:That's kinda redundant there, Bobby.
Speaker:Go Tennis, tennis, and pickleball.
Speaker:Is that just too much tennis?
Speaker:Or is that kinda--
Speaker:- You know such thing is too much tennis.
Speaker:- Good point, no such thing is too much tennis.
Speaker:We'll put it.
Speaker:But Bobby, the way we've got this conversation going
Speaker:is we wanna share everything about this
Speaker:with everybody that wants to know.
Speaker:So we've scripted some questions for you.
Speaker:So you're gonna ask me and we're just gonna
Speaker:tell everybody about the event.
Speaker:So Bobby, what's your first question?
Speaker:- Next Saturday, November 9,
Speaker:two through five o'clock,
Speaker:James Creed, Tennis Center, Sean,
Speaker:tell us what the fall festival is.
Speaker:It is essentially an industry day.
Speaker:I believe it's what we used to call it 20 years ago.
Speaker:And by we, I mean you and your netcord type friends.
Speaker:It's an industry day.
Speaker:We're bringing in vendors and sponsors.
Speaker:And so we've got T2 tennis and reserve my court,
Speaker:excuse me Greg, RMC, they've rebranded.
Speaker:RMC and T2 tennis are our presenters.
Speaker:So they are the ones that are supporting us
Speaker:to promote this event to everybody
Speaker:in the Metro Atlanta area.
Speaker:So it is, there's some tennis drills.
Speaker:You can sign up for those.
Speaker:They're only $5.
Speaker:We make it extremely affordable
Speaker:because we have the sponsors and the vendors there.
Speaker:We also have pickleball clinics.
Speaker:So you can learn some pickleball.
Speaker:We've got pickle in social,
Speaker:Chris Wolf coming out to run those clinics
Speaker:and we'll get into each of the sponsors in a minute.
Speaker:But there is tennis, there is pickleball.
Speaker:There will be vendors and sponsors there.
Speaker:There will be the booths.
Speaker:You can go by kind of like the Atlanta Open Sponsorship Village.
Speaker:We'll have a couple of courts of sponsors
Speaker:that are going to be there giving out stuff.
Speaker:I don't know, maybe somebody else set up cornwall,
Speaker:something like that.
Speaker:But in this case, we'll be there next Saturday.
Speaker:It's coming up next Saturday, November 9th,
Speaker:starts at two o'clock and it's going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker:It's very affordable to get into.
Speaker:We'll figure all that out in this conversation.
Speaker:So did I cover it, Bobby?
Speaker:I think you did a great job covering it.
Speaker:I think you showed people why it's interesting,
Speaker:why they need to be there.
Speaker:But we did call it an industry day.
Speaker:Why is it interesting to the player?
Speaker:Why do they need to be there?
Speaker:Because we're showing them all the cool new stuff.
Speaker:So the vendors are coming in.
Speaker:There's a guy there.
Speaker:He's got a magic robot that picks up tennis balls.
Speaker:And I call it magic because I don't know how it works.
Speaker:These are the people that come up with the coolest stuff.
Speaker:So we've got Technifiber there.
Speaker:They're going to bring out the latest rackets.
Speaker:Wilson's going to be there.
Speaker:Head-- again, I'm getting ahead of myself
Speaker:with naming all the sponsors.
Speaker:But the industry is going to be there.
Speaker:We're bringing our friends and colleagues
Speaker:to an event so we can share that with the player.
Speaker:So the regular tennis player, the social player, levels A, B, and C. You can come out.
Speaker:And you can take a tennis drill based on your level.
Speaker:We'll have great coaches there running drills.
Speaker:One of our courts will have what's called the baseline vision system that'll be on one of the courts.
Speaker:And we'll show you how it works.
Speaker:It runs games for you.
Speaker:It can call the ball, enter out.
Speaker:It can do line calls.
Speaker:We've just got some cool things that not a lot of tennis players-- not the typical tennis
Speaker:player knows about.
Speaker:And we want to share it with them.
Speaker:We want to show it to them.
Speaker:That sounds like fun.
Speaker:Tell them what they're signing up for.
Speaker:When they sign up to register, they're signing up for a drill.
Speaker:There are other things that's prizes.
Speaker:What else are they signing up for?
Speaker:So there are three different ways to register for this event.
Speaker:You can simply show up.
Speaker:You want to show up.
Speaker:It's $1.
Speaker:$1 to get in.
Speaker:You've got to buy a raffle ticket.
Speaker:That's all we ask.
Speaker:We ask you to buy one raffle ticket.
Speaker:So you could leave with significantly more than your $1 work, which actually you will.
Speaker:Because USDA is giving away stuff.
Speaker:Alt is giving away stuff.
Speaker:We've got sample packs.
Speaker:Your $1 gets you in.
Speaker:And you're going to leave with plenty of stuff.
Speaker:So the simplest version is show up.
Speaker:Go register.
Speaker:Go to Let'sGoTennis.com.
Speaker:Register.
Speaker:Just come.
Speaker:Pay it all.
Speaker:You know what?
Speaker:If you get in and there's an extra drill spot available and you want to pay five bucks for
Speaker:a tennis drill, you can do that as well.
Speaker:We've got drills going on four different times for tennis drills.
Speaker:Two-fifteen.
Speaker:We started two.
Speaker:But the drill first drills at two-fifteen, we've got four quarts of that.
Speaker:So two-fifteen, three o'clock, three-forty-five, and four-thirty are your drill starting times
Speaker:for tennis.
Speaker:So you can sign up for those.
Speaker:They're only five bucks.
Speaker:It's only five dollars.
Speaker:That gets you a raffle ticket, by the way.
Speaker:That covers your $1.
Speaker:And gets you into the event for a drill.
Speaker:Now there's also pickleball clinics that Chris Wolf and Ross can trail.
Speaker:We have the name right or say trail.
Speaker:I want to put an end in his name.
Speaker:I apologize, Ross.
Speaker:Couchrell, they run in the pickleball clinic.
Speaker:Those are $15.
Speaker:It's usually a $100 clinic.
Speaker:And that's why I'll go back to question number two that you asked, which is why is this
Speaker:interesting.
Speaker:It's affordable.
Speaker:And you get really great stuff because we're also going to have body helix, pro drive, head.
Speaker:We're going to have these pickleball providers there with their paddles.
Speaker:You're going to get to try the coolest stuff.
Speaker:It's $15 for a pickleball clinic.
Speaker:We've got three of those running.
Speaker:Two beginner introductory clinics, one at two o'clock, one at three o'clock.
Speaker:And the next one is what they call the good stuff.
Speaker:If you think you're pretty good at pickleball, then you sign up for the four o'clock one.
Speaker:Again, only $15.
Speaker:That's the second way you can register, which is register for a clinic or a drill.
Speaker:The third way is this is my favorite one.
Speaker:For $6, you get a membership, a premium membership to go test, which gets you all
Speaker:the member benefits that we offer at GoTennisIt.
Speaker:Let's GoTennis.com.
Speaker:And you get your tennis drill for free.
Speaker:You get one for free.
Speaker:So instead of paying $5, you pay $6 and you get your drill for free.
Speaker:And it gets you a raffle ticket.
Speaker:So you can register in those three different ways.
Speaker:Either get yourself a monthly paid membership or register for a drill or a pickleball clinic
Speaker:or $1 gets you a raffle ticket and you are ready to go.
Speaker:And along those lines, Shawn, I got two boxes of these provided by ADV for everybody who's
Speaker:signed enough for that.
Speaker:So we got lots of giveaways for those premium members.
Speaker:That's a great example.
Speaker:So if you sign up for a tennis clinic, ADV, which is Lavisax Group, they make really high-end,
Speaker:really cool bags and accessories for tennis and pickleball.
Speaker:They're given away a sample pack to everybody registered for a tennis drill.
Speaker:We also have for the pickleball clinics a giveaway there as well, register for a pickleball
Speaker:clinic.
Speaker:We got a deal with paddle track and they're giving away a free track tag that you put on
Speaker:your pickleball paddle just in case it gets lost.
Speaker:You can use their app to help find it.
Speaker:So whatever you register for, you're getting something for free immediately.
Speaker:Probably like free.
Speaker:Tell me, uh, UTA James Creek is going to be doing some sales on some merchandise.
Speaker:UTA is going to do their one day sale, which is good because it's only a one day event that
Speaker:makes sense.
Speaker:They're going to bring out everything they've got.
Speaker:UTA runs a few locations around Metro Atlanta.
Speaker:They've been in the business for 30 years.
Speaker:They know what they're doing.
Speaker:They're connected with tennis warehouse and they've got all the best stuff.
Speaker:Anything you would need in a pro shop, they're going to have out there.
Speaker:They're going to do a clearance sale as well, but basically what we would call a tent sale.
Speaker:And they're going to set out everything.
Speaker:We'll probably set that up indoors in the pickleball side of things, which I didn't mention.
Speaker:We've got eight pickleball courts that we're going to set up indoors and eight tennis courts
Speaker:outdoors, four courts of drills, two courts where there's a sponsorship village outside.
Speaker:And then two courts, one for Wilson, one for TechnoFiber, that they're going to run demos.
Speaker:You can come out and play tennis, come hit with Arturo and Matt, try the latest rackets.
Speaker:Again, just getting in the doors is only $1.
Speaker:You get to see all the cool stuff, but we're giving away free stuff.
Speaker:And the shopping is going to be good.
Speaker:We're going to have deals on rackets, apparel, all the stuff you'd see in a pro shop.
Speaker:UTA is going to take care of all that.
Speaker:So I want to make sure that because you just brought up a good point, even if you do not,
Speaker:if you choose not to sign up for one of these drills, which seems crazy while you wouldn't
Speaker:want to considering the cost.
Speaker:But let's say the time just doesn't work, but you still want to come.
Speaker:You should be wearing tennis apparel because they're going to be demo courts.
Speaker:So there's still going to be the opportunity to play.
Speaker:And we also have another cool thing that we set up and hopefully tomorrow will drop the
Speaker:video showing me sweating and doing it with the fast track tennis rebounder.
Speaker:So even more stuff.
Speaker:So encourage folks to come dressed for tennis.
Speaker:Yeah, and that's one of ours specifically that we're going to have out there on display.
Speaker:They're not technically a vendor or a sponsor, but we're going to find a place to set up one
Speaker:of those fast track tennis systems where you hit the ball into the net.
Speaker:It's a little ball machine that spits it out.
Speaker:And basically if you want to hit tennis balls indefinitely, this thing is great.
Speaker:It'll wear you out.
Speaker:It's like hitting on a wall, but you don't have to worry about hitting it perfectly.
Speaker:The ball come back to you.
Speaker:It's really a cool thing.
Speaker:And you can set it up in your backyard if you really want to.
Speaker:We'll figure out where that's going to be set up.
Speaker:And yeah, you're right, Bobby.
Speaker:You use that in your eye video, which is going to be fun to see for everybody.
Speaker:Now, did I go through?
Speaker:I know I'm supposed to wait for you for questions, but I think at this point everybody knows how
Speaker:scripted this is.
Speaker:But did I mention all of our sponsors?
Speaker:Can I go through everybody and just make sure I mention the sponsors and hit every
Speaker:skim, give them the list one more time.
Speaker:And then we'll go through one more time and say November 9th next Saturday, two to five
Speaker:James Creek's Tennis Center and you'll tell them how to register.
Speaker:Do it.
Speaker:All right, sponsors.
Speaker:We have, of course, our presenting sponsors T2 tennis and reserve my court.
Speaker:Our host is Universal Tennis Academy, UTA at James Creek Tennis Center.
Speaker:Sponsors include Cadillac.
Speaker:There will be a fancy red eye here, red escalade and red lyric.
Speaker:And I really want a lyric.
Speaker:So we're going to have to figure out how to do a sweepstakes where Sean wins a lyric for
Speaker:a year.
Speaker:We'll figure that one out.
Speaker:Cadillac is going to be there.
Speaker:They're going to be giving away.
Speaker:Now I'm confirming this hopefully today, which I'm admitting we're not there yet, but the
Speaker:plan is giving away an escalade.
Speaker:Can we crop out just that part out of context and using that?
Speaker:That was big out of context.
Speaker:We're not giving for a time period too.
Speaker:Not just giving it away.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Well, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker:If we take it out of context, so they're going to give away an escalade to go along with
Speaker:a $1,000 gift card to any cliff, dries, Dale location, their resort locations, which they
Speaker:do.
Speaker:Great pickle.
Speaker:Tennis, all of the racket sports.
Speaker:They've got great resorts and vacation experiences.
Speaker:Basically, anything you can drive to in an escalade.
Speaker:And they'll let you use an escalade for the duration of your trip.
Speaker:Now I'm pretty sure there's fine print there, but that's pretty much what escalade is doing.
Speaker:Come down and guess how many tennis balls are in the car.
Speaker:And I'm sure Bobby will know.
Speaker:So if you drive in well enough, he might give you a heads up there.
Speaker:Baseline vision is a cool system that plugs onto the net post.
Speaker:And it can basically, it doesn't run video per se, but it does track where the ball bounces.
Speaker:It tracks how many are in, how many are out.
Speaker:It can tell you it's a matched statistic type of system.
Speaker:And we're going to have that running on one of our drill courts.
Speaker:And we have a silent auction.
Speaker:If you want to buy that one, I have that one right there.
Speaker:We have that one to auction off.
Speaker:You can walk out with it.
Speaker:You can have it if you like it.
Speaker:You know what?
Speaker:Go bid on it, our silent auctions.
Speaker:I'll cover that in a minute as well.
Speaker:Tennis bot, as we have mentioned, heatham's coming with his tennis bot.
Speaker:He might have more than one.
Speaker:We'll have them drive around picking up tennis balls.
Speaker:I believe that also can make line calls.
Speaker:So that one's got a little extra.
Speaker:I make line calls and pick up the balls for you.
Speaker:So we're going to have these clean scores.
Speaker:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker:This goes back to your question of why do you want to be here, even if you're not playing
Speaker:tennis, even if you're not doing a drill.
Speaker:Let's see, Alta's going to be there giving away stuff.
Speaker:USDA Atlanta, Emory Healthcare, tennis medicine.
Speaker:They are going to be there doing warmups for you.
Speaker:They've got a specific warmup routine.
Speaker:Help you prevent injuries.
Speaker:They're going to be there specifically.
Speaker:A little track I mentioned, given away a free track tag for Fickleball Clinic registration.
Speaker:ADV is given away a free sample pack for tennis drill registration.
Speaker:Racket stats is a non-magic statistic system where you have to actually track it in on the
Speaker:app, but it gives you a lot of data.
Speaker:And Andy is coming in from somewhere.
Speaker:I don't remember where he's in North Carolina.
Speaker:One of the careliners is coming all the way in.
Speaker:We're going to try to do a demo with a few juniors, play a couple of short sets and show
Speaker:some parents, maybe some coaches, how cool their statistic system is as well.
Speaker:Let's see, ProDrive is going to be there.
Speaker:They've got some cool pickleball stuff.
Speaker:Technifier, we've mentioned is going to be there bringing their fancy tennis rackets.
Speaker:You can actually try that on one of the clay courts there.
Speaker:LaCost is a sponsor.
Speaker:Head will be there.
Speaker:Pickleball and tennis, I hear.
Speaker:They've got some pickleball paddles and tennis rackets that are coming.
Speaker:Tennis warehouse, of course.
Speaker:They are connected with UTA, going to help them with their tent sale.
Speaker:We might even have some gift cards to give away.
Speaker:We'll have to figure out who we're going to give those away to.
Speaker:Maybe the next 10 that's signed up after hearing this right now.
Speaker:We'll figure out when you heard this.
Speaker:It's a podcast.
Speaker:I don't know how that works.
Speaker:We'll figure it out.
Speaker:Pickle and social.
Speaker:I think they're two locations, Bobby.
Speaker:Is there one right now?
Speaker:There's one by the Mall of Georgia.
Speaker:The second one is being built off of Highway 9.
Speaker:I'm sorry.
Speaker:I'll love Georgia 400, exit 9.
Speaker:Exit 9 400 is the next one.
Speaker:But Chris Wolff is doing a great job over there.
Speaker:Pickle and social.
Speaker:And he and Ross are going to come run the clinics where we're giving away the paddle
Speaker:tracks, the loop back.
Speaker:You see, like I did that.
Speaker:And Body Helix has given us some giveaways.
Speaker:There's a bag, there's a hat, there might be a pickleball paddle or four that we have to
Speaker:give away while we're there.
Speaker:And I think that covers all of our sponsors.
Speaker:We've got also Outback Deck.
Speaker:We've got one non sports racket sports related sponsor other than Cadillac, of course, who
Speaker:they are going to be there.
Speaker:They said they're going to have some giveaways, but they're going to talk to people about
Speaker:helping them with their outdoor back deck type needs.
Speaker:I've already got them scheduled to come visit me.
Speaker:My wife wants an extension on the back of our house.
Speaker:So we're already talking to them.
Speaker:But Outback Deck is going to be there as well.
Speaker:And I think that's everybody.
Speaker:Who's on charity?
Speaker:Ah, yes.
Speaker:Last but not least, Team Luke.
Speaker:Hope for minds.
Speaker:Team Luke is a brain injury, childhood brain injury awareness group.
Speaker:I believe Tim Siegel is supposed to be here in person.
Speaker:I will be here.
Speaker:I will be here.
Speaker:Tim confirmed that, but he's supposed to be here in person.
Speaker:And that leads us to the raffles and the silent auctions.
Speaker:Now, the raffles send pro seeds to Team Luke.
Speaker:And the silent auctions do as well.
Speaker:We've got some Andy Roddick art that is signed by Andy.
Speaker:We're supposed to have something Roger Federer related, but I'm trying to confirm that one
Speaker:to make sure I don't put my own foot in my mouth there.
Speaker:Just trying to say Roger Federer is often as possible.
Speaker:We've got plenty of art.
Speaker:We've got trips.
Speaker:If you want to spend some money and go see the rider cup next year, you can go see the
Speaker:masters.
Speaker:A lot of those really cool silent auction type things that the pro seeds go to charity.
Speaker:So that's the direction that we go with Team Luke.
Speaker:And we hope that Tim can be there in person.
Speaker:We'll give everybody a chance to meet him.
Speaker:I'll try to tell him to bring some books.
Speaker:And he's got a really cool book out there.
Speaker:Fight like Luke.
Speaker:I think is it.
Speaker:And he might be signing books.
Speaker:So we'll make that happen as well.
Speaker:But that is our charity, our nonprofit that we're working with.
Speaker:And the raffles, pro seeds, and the silent auction pro seeds all go that direction.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:One more time.
Speaker:How did they sign up?
Speaker:Where did they go?
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:Let's go tennis.com.
Speaker:I would read out the short link for you, but it's gobbledygook.
Speaker:So that doesn't really work.
Speaker:But yeah, you go to let's go tennis.com.
Speaker:The featured event.
Speaker:There are three there at all times at the top because go tennis starts with a calendar.
Speaker:That's where we started.
Speaker:That's what we are.
Speaker:And we've got the best events in Atlanta.
Speaker:We hope if it's an event that you know about and it's not there, call me.
Speaker:We'll put it up there.
Speaker:That's how we do things.
Speaker:But yeah, go to let's go tennis.com.
Speaker:The card, if you scroll past that, there's also a section specifically for the fall festival.
Speaker:It is coming up November 9th, which is Saturday, which as we record, if we're going
Speaker:to timestamp this, it is in about a week.
Speaker:So it's coming up.
Speaker:Make sure you get registered.
Speaker:And that's the easiest way to do it.
Speaker:What else we got, Bobby?
Speaker:What did I forget?
Speaker:I'll be there.
Speaker:Most importantly, Bobby Schindler in the flesh.
Speaker:Gonna be probably the whole time hitting on that fast track thing all of a sudden.
Speaker:I'll be busy driving in circles in the lyric.
Speaker:Bobby's gonna be hitting on the fast track.
Speaker:If it runs as smoothly as we think.
Speaker:Tell your friends, tell everybody this should be a lot of fun.
Speaker:It will be a lot of fun.
Speaker:Okay, more important than Bobby actually being there.
Speaker:There will be food.
Speaker:There will be food.
Speaker:We have the Fricken Inkin Peruvian Street style food truck.
Speaker:Gonna be there right out front.
Speaker:He's gonna bring all your Peruvian comfort foods if any of you go to Peru for comfort food.
Speaker:It's gonna be rocking.
Speaker:We'll probably have some music playing too.
Speaker:Music?
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:There'll be a drone just in case.
Speaker:That's right.
Speaker:Gotta have a drone.
Speaker:We'll run some video.
Speaker:We'll say hello.
Speaker:I hear rumor that the Babelack guy might be there too.
Speaker:So we'll see if he brings something to give away.
Speaker:We'll see if we can get Babelack to visit us while we're there.
Speaker:Bobby, I hope that's it.
Speaker:I'll see you next week.
Speaker:Sounds good.
Speaker:Thank you, Sarah.
Speaker:Take care.
Speaker:Well, there you have it.
Speaker:We want to thank reGeovinate.com for use of the studio.
Speaker:And be sure to hit that follow button.
Speaker:For more tennis related content, you can go to AtlantaTennisPodcast.com.
Speaker:And while you're there, check out our calendar of tennis events.

Speaker:And with that, we're out.
Speaker:See you next time.
