What do you do when you reach a crossroads and
2
:
00:00:04
you have to make a decision?
3
:
00:00:06
You have to go left or
you have to go right.
4
:
00:00:10
And when you make that decision, you
can no longer look the other way.
5
:
00:00:16
Well, that's kind of where I'm at.
6
:
00:00:18
I came to a crossroads and
I had to make a decision.
7
:
00:00:22
I've had this podcast
and I love this podcast.
8
:
00:00:25
We're halfway through the second
season, but a lot of things happened
9
:
00:00:30
in my life where I just no longer
have the capacity to do the podcast.
10
:
00:00:35
And so I was left with two decisions.
11
:
00:00:37
One, do I continue and burn
myself out along the way?
12
:
00:00:43
Two, do I say that's a wrap
and I end the season early and
13
:
00:00:51
I stop the podcast altogether?
14
:
00:00:54
And those were kind of the two
options I was debating back
15
:
00:00:56
and forth for a long time.
16
:
00:00:58
And then it dawned on me
that I could have a third.
17
:
00:01:02
So sometimes we have a clear decision
of a right or a left, but sometimes
18
:
00:01:06
you can create your own path.
19
:
00:01:08
You can create another path that
goes somewhere in the middle.
20
:
00:01:13
And so what I've decided to do
is to continue the podcast, but
21
:
00:01:18
only with off the cuff episodes.
22
:
00:01:21
Why?
23
:
00:01:22
Because the off the cuff
episodes are easy for me.
24
:
00:01:24
They're about five minutes.
25
:
00:01:25
They're actually the most listened to.
26
:
00:01:28
Podcast episodes, I think because people
just like to get little doses of truth
27
:
00:01:32
or little doses of nuggets of wisdom
There are so many podcasts out there
28
:
00:01:36
that are an hour long an hour and a
half long 45 minutes long But there's
29
:
00:01:41
not a lot of really short podcasts.
30
:
00:01:44
So I think I've actually created
a space for myself there.
31
:
00:01:48
And that also allows me to keep
doing what I love, which is just
32
:
00:01:51
sharing encouragement, sharing tips,
sharing things that I feel can make
33
:
00:01:55
a positive impact on people's lives,
all in the name of encouraging people
34
:
00:02:00
to prioritize their own well being
and to live a life that is aligned
35
:
00:02:04
with their values and their purpose.
36
:
00:02:07
That is what excites me.
37
:
00:02:08
That's what keeps me going.
38
:
00:02:11
And so that's what I'm going to do.
39
:
00:02:14
So we're going to be doing
off the cuff episodes only.
40
:
00:02:18
I'm hoping I can do it weekly.
41
:
00:02:20
I think so.
42
:
00:02:21
We'll see.
43
:
00:02:23
But sometimes you just have
to give yourself grace and ask
44
:
00:02:27
yourself, what, why am I doing this?
45
:
00:02:31
And what's the outcome?
46
:
00:02:33
And is anything else being impacted?
47
:
00:02:36
Sometimes your hands are just too
full and something has to give.
48
:
00:02:40
And so in this case, it's those
full episodes and the interviews
49
:
00:02:44
because they take a lot out of me.
50
:
00:02:47
I'm doing a lot more speaking engagements
and coaching, so I just don't have it
51
:
00:02:50
to go, but this is not really about me.
52
:
00:02:53
This is really for anybody out there
who's forced to make a decision or
53
:
00:02:58
feels forced to make a decision.
54
:
00:03:00
I think a lot of times there is Just
decision paralysis where people are
55
:
00:03:04
unable to make a decision, but sometimes
in life you just have to move forward.
56
:
00:03:10
Now, I'm not going to lie.
57
:
00:03:11
I kind of sat in limbo for the last
month, which is why you haven't
58
:
00:03:14
heard from me because I wasn't
ready to commit to a new decision.
59
:
00:03:18
And I was still thinking maybe there was
a way that I could do full interviews
60
:
00:03:24
and full episodes still, or I was
thinking I had to quit and let it go.
61
:
00:03:28
Yeah.
62
:
00:03:30
And sometimes the power of a
pause is good, like before making
63
:
00:03:34
any final decisions, because if
I had decided a month ago, then
64
:
00:03:37
there just would be no podcast.
65
:
00:03:40
Or maybe even two or three months
ago, then we would have just stopped.
66
:
00:03:44
But the power of a pause is good.
67
:
00:03:46
And the clarity really only came in
the last, I would say, week or two,
68
:
00:03:50
because multiple people have come up
to me, or called me, or messaged me or
69
:
00:03:55
just spoken to me at an engagement,
something, and talked about my podcast.
70
:
00:04:00
And I keep thinking, wow, well, if I had
shut it down, then they wouldn't even have
71
:
00:04:05
that frame of reference to talk about.
72
:
00:04:08
So.
73
:
00:04:09
So sometimes the power of a pause
creates another path for you or allows
74
:
00:04:13
you to see what other possibilities
exist when needing to make a decision.
75
:
00:04:18
And of course, this decision is
still aligned with my values for
76
:
00:04:22
work life balance and having personal
time for myself and doing something
77
:
00:04:26
that's sustainable and enjoyable.
78
:
00:04:29
Because if I don't enjoy
it, then I'm not doing it.
79
:
00:04:33
And I think a lot of people are
doing things that they don't enjoy
80
:
00:04:36
because they're just kind of stuck
in the routine or stuck with what
81
:
00:04:39
they're, they've been doing before.
82
:
00:04:41
So that would be my encouragement to
you is take a pause, but find decisions
83
:
00:04:46
that can still align with your values
and align with your joy and create that
84
:
00:04:51
third path for yourself if you need to,
or go right or go left, until next time,
85
:
00:04:57
continue to serve yourself, your loved
ones, and your community from a full cup.
