On October 2, 2014, former Southern Miss Baseball player, Michael J. Gilbert, suffered a serious head injury from during off-season training accident. Gilbert was taken to Forrest General and later airlifted to UMC when the doctors determined the full extent of his injuries. The doctors did not think he would make it, but through various trials, therapies, injuries, and lots of faith, Gilbert continued to get back up and push forward. He shares his story of faith, resilience, and perspective with the Everyday Eagles team. Today, Gilbert is currently working on his physician’s residency and pursing a career in sports medicine. Special thanks to Michael for sharing his story with us!
