Shownotes

Hi I'm Justin 👋 - creator and host of RevOps FM. In this short trailer episode, I walk through why I created the podcast and what you can expect.

There's lots of RevOps content out there - so why listen to this show? One unique feature is that I'm not selling or representing any particular product or point of view.

My main goal is to figure out what works and how to be the best RevOps leader/practitioner I can be. That curiosity and desire to learn is the driving force of the show, and it means I can be as honest and objective as possible.

Three motivators for creating the podcast:

  • Thinking out loud about RevOps and GTM strategy, in dialogue with some of the smartest folks in the industry.
  • Sharing knowledge at scale.
  • Looking critically at what works and challenging conventional wisdom.

If you want stay in touch, head over to the show website, where you can subscribe to our newsletter. This gives you access to new episode notifications, podcast clips, and other bonus content.

Speaker:

Hi, I'm

2

:

Justin creator and host of the

3

:

rev ops FM podcast.

4

:

I started this show

for three main reasons.

5

:

First off rev ops is my job, and I

want to be as good at it as I can.

6

:

What are the playbooks

of top performing teams?

7

:

How should you structure

your go to market?

8

:

What does success look like ? What

should rev ops actually do anyways?

9

:

These are questions I've

wrestled with for over 10 years.

10

:

So this podcast is really a way of

thinking out loud about the work I do.

11

:

Second motivation.

12

:

I like helping people learn.

13

:

I find that when I'm doing my best work,

14

:

I have this sense of discovery, that

I'm learning and unlocking new insights.

15

:

That's really what makes work fun for me.

16

:

I started posting on LinkedIn

more regularly a few years ago.

17

:

I didn't have any kind of fixed strategy.

18

:

I would just take the things I was

learning in my day to day- those little

19

:

light bulb moments- and write about them.

20

:

And overall those posts have

been pretty well received.

21

:

However, you'll also notice

22

:

my posts are typically,

well, kind of long.

23

:

I admit it, I don't do brevity well,

24

:

so I figured: let's own it.

25

:

A podcast is my way to lean into long

format and share knowledge at scale.

26

:

Lastly, I hope we can challenge

conventional wisdom and look

27

:

critically at what actually works.

28

:

Let's be honest here: there's no business

function that's more bogged down with

29

:

hype, jargon,

30

:

buzzwords trend chasing, and pure

obfuscation than marketing and sales.

31

:

So in these discussions, I want to go

deeper than superficial talking points

32

:

or repeating things uncritically.

33

:

I want to ask why do we do this?

34

:

Does it make sense?

35

:

Does it work?

36

:

I'm not selling any

product or point of view.

37

:

So I'm in a good position to

hold that conversation, honestly,

38

:

and as objectively as I can.

39

:

That's a summary of why I'm doing

this and what you can expect.

40

:

You can find the show in your

favorite podcast app or at revops.fm,

41

:

where you can also sign up for our

newsletter, which gives you access

42

:

to new episode notifications,

podcast clips, and bonus content.

43

:

Thanks for listening.
