I mean, I don't know why you're still looking. Get

Unknown:

out of there. It's not good. Whatever is happening there is

Unknown:

not good for you. Get out of there. Now, why are you still

Unknown:

looking? Hi, I'm Shamar Griffith and I'm Andrew Tejada. We're

Unknown:

going through superhero productions to let you know if

Unknown:

they're still fun or the hype around it was dumb on Cape or

Unknown:

cap, a Black Nerd superhero podcast.

Unknown:

Welcome to this week's installment of capor cap, a

Unknown:

Black Nerd superhero podcast. My name is Shamar Griffith,

Unknown:

codename comic. Shams and I am Andrew Tejada, codename Arete.

Unknown:

Andrew and I have known each other since 1996 that was the

Unknown:

year Pinky and the Brain number one premiered, published by DC

Unknown:

Comics. And in this comic, I really sped Reddit, but they

Unknown:

were Batman and Robin at one point. Well, maybe the whole

Unknown:

thing, I'm sorry I sped Reddit, but it happened. I Evie. I think

Unknown:

I know exactly which comic that is. It also be funny, because it

Unknown:

also be funny if the roles were reversed, like if Pinky was

Unknown:

Batman and brain was Robin, but just because of the height

Unknown:

difference, that's what I'm just thinking. Oh, man. But speaking

Unknown:

of, like, origin stories, because of DC Comics and all

Unknown:

that, um, we gotta talk about the the OG superhero of it all,

Unknown:

who gets a revitalized origin story from this new series, my

Unknown:

adventures with Superman. Now, if you've been following us

Unknown:

since our yet another DC animated podcast moniker, you

Unknown:

know that we love animated stories, especially when they

Unknown:

have such a full cast with characters that are really

Unknown:

compelling, great storylines. People are fighting for their

Unknown:

honor, whatever it may be, and usually we'll provide you with

Unknown:

an episodic breakdown of every single part of the series. We're

Unknown:

not doing that today. Instead, we are now under the cape or cap

Unknown:

Black Nerd superhero podcast moniker will now give you some

Unknown:

more of these current shows that are out now and give you a full

Unknown:

season run through in this new segment of our show that we're

Unknown:

calling. Run it back. I like it. I like yes, new titles. New

Unknown:

titles. So with this one, we are actually going to be covering

Unknown:

the last season, the latest season of my Adventures of

Unknown:

Superman, season two that had 10 episodes that premiered between

Unknown:

the ending of May 2024, to about the end of or mid July, this TV

Unknown:

PG show recently wrapped up a second season that premiered

Unknown:

back in 2023 and includes show runners such as Jake Wyatt,

Unknown:

Brendan CLOGGER, who has done so much work in the art department

Unknown:

the DCA u it is kind of wild. And of course, Josie Campbell, a

Unknown:

name we are quite familiar with, mainly because she basically co

Unknown:

wrote and wrote Legion superheroes and the War world

Unknown:

movie. Okay, if you've been following us, you know how some

Unknown:

opinions I might have been about those, but it's a brand new day.

Unknown:

Brand new, brand new day. Honestly, when I saw this, I was

Unknown:

just like, I feel, I feel like somebody has some creative

Unknown:

freedom taken away from them in other productions. And the main

Unknown:

reason for that is because this show, if you check on your

Unknown:

websites or your webs, wherever you find it, you'll find that

Unknown:

currently has a 98% Rotten Tomatoes rating with a audience

Unknown:

score of 81% and I believe IMDb has it right now, 7.7 out of 10.

Unknown:

Yeah. But if you think we're just gonna sit here and

Unknown:

automatically give something a pass because it's universally

Unknown:

critically rated. You have another thing coming, maybe, but

Unknown:

All right, so now we talked about the show runners. Let's

Unknown:

talk about the cast is bringing this whole series to life. Um,

Unknown:

since Season One, he has been the voice of the main

Unknown:

characters, Superman, completely putting aside his super killing

Unknown:

side as Huey Campbell from the boys, as we today, we have Jack

Unknown:

Quaid, who is voicing Clark Kent. Next up. We Yeah, what a

Unknown:

guy. Honestly, it's like the range already when you look at

Unknown:

this. Next up, we got Alice Lee, who will who's taking her

Unknown:

talents from Off Broadway productions now to the animated

Unknown:

screen, as she's going to be the voice of Lois Lane, Ishmael

Unknown:

Sahid. He's done some work on Nickelodeon productions,

Unknown:

including, I believe, a show called that girl, Lele, I think

Unknown:

it was called, but more importantly, well, not more

Unknown:

importantly, sorry. But also, you've seen him recently on the

Unknown:

sleeper show jury duty, that I feel like everybody was just

Unknown:

like it was one of the most random out of nowhere, greatest

Unknown:

shows that won Emmys, I think in this first season, or is

Unknown:

nominated for one. Today, he is going to be our Jimmy Olsen.

Unknown:

Jimmy Olsen is black. Y'all. This is the new, new day and

Unknown:

age. Next up, we got Deborah Wilson, who made the jump from

Unknown:

acting on television as part of the main cast on Mad TV for

Unknown:

basically its entire run to being a voiceover powerhouse. As

Unknown:

she's now the new official voice of Daisy Duck in all Disney

Unknown:

productions. And she was also the motion capture artist for

Unknown:

Amanda Waller in the Suicide Squad kills, the Justice League

Unknown:

video game. Today, she's continuing that quest on

Unknown:

superhero destruction as Amanda the wall Waller. This is a sorry

Unknown:

spoiler for another episode, but definitely a better Amanda

Unknown:

Waller than the one we got for Green Lantern. Oh yeah, 100%

Unknown:

next up. Continuing on, we got the English dub voice to cite

Unknown:

some of the One Punch Man Max middleman, who is voicing

Unknown:

basically the rest of our villains in this series. He is

Unknown:

the voice of Alexander Luthor. He doesn't really adopt the name

Unknown:

of Lex quite yet we got He also voices Hank Henshaw and atomic

Unknown:

skull. Ah, okay, yeah, that's a Yeah, that's job security, man.

Unknown:

But don't worry if you're feeling like the villains are

Unknown:

already pretty stacked. We do have some heroes who are

Unknown:

providing backup for them, as we got Byron Mark Newsome, who's

Unknown:

voicing John Henry, irons and Silas stone Byron. You might

Unknown:

know his name if you watch Craig of the creek, the animated

Unknown:

series. He has taken on the role of Dwayne Williams, who the

Unknown:

father of the family unit from Terry Cruz. And I gotta say,

Unknown:

it's a pretty great transition. So and finally, the main focus

Unknown:

of our season today will include breakout star from trinkets and

Unknown:

the fear street Netflix movie saga, Karina Madeira, who is

Unknown:

this, who is voicing cars? RL, don't think she actually goes by

Unknown:

the her more well known name quite yet in this particular

Unknown:

season? No, I don't think so. Okay. And finally, the person

Unknown:

operating behind the shadows, honestly, you, he's been in DC

Unknown:

just really being the big bad, the overall head honcho of a lot

Unknown:

of things. Like he's the Joker in The Dark Knight Returns both

Unknown:

for both parts of the film. He's Caden James in the arrow verse.

Unknown:

And today he is Brainiac, as we have Michael Emerson, who's

Unknown:

making his DC production day. Um, return. Welcome back.

Unknown:

Welcome back. All right, so with that, let's go up, up and away

Unknown:

and run it back on this k4 cap review of the second season of

Unknown:

my adventures with Superman. Yes. So again, we said, we're

Unknown:

saying we're doing it a little bit different this time. We're

Unknown:

not going to get down into the nitty gritty details of

Unknown:

everything. We are going to give ourselves a little bit of a time

Unknown:

limit to get into this. So the first section we're going to

Unknown:

talk about is story. And we're going to give give ourselves 15

Unknown:

minutes, just 15 to talk about story. The time is on the clock

Unknown:

now. If you are, haven't caught up to Season Two yet, you're

Unknown:

thinking about seeing it. You've checked out season one. You're

Unknown:

not sure. We're going to tell you in here where you can skip

Unknown:

to the end for our capercap final verdict, and that's where

Unknown:

we're going to give a spoiler free capercap, final verdict.

Unknown:

But from this point on, we're going to do some spoilers,

Unknown:

because we're not going to toggle around the story. All

Unknown:

right. So, all right, 321, you had your time to soar away.

Unknown:

Let's get into the story in a very general sense. What this

Unknown:

story is is that at the beginning of the season,

Unknown:

Superman discovers that he has a way to contact a survivor, his

Unknown:

cousin out there, and if he finds a specific beacon, he can

Unknown:

get to her and bring her to Earth. And eventually, the

Unknown:

decision is made for him to do just. That and these. So these

Unknown:

first four episodes really revolve around his decision to

Unknown:

even get Kara there. And in a general sense, I will say, in my

Unknown:

opinion, these episodes are great standalones. They're

Unknown:

really fun, really funny stories. But a main thing that I

Unknown:

do think holds back the at least the first four, is

Unknown:

communication. There are a lot of problems that could be solved

Unknown:

if people just talk to each other. Yeah, there's so many

Unknown:

times that it's just like, you're you're watching it, and

Unknown:

I'm just like, this has to be the moment, like, just, just

Unknown:

yell it out. Just like I feel like a lot of the conversations

Unknown:

and the miscommunication that happens I'd never experienced in

Unknown:

my life, which is, if I have something on my mind, I'm going

Unknown:

to say it, or at least, like, allude to it, or enough that I

Unknown:

feel like the people who I'm talking to or the people who are

Unknown:

talking to me would there'll be a moment with the person

Unknown:

receiving the information would be like, Wait, let's, let's dive

Unknown:

into that. And the main thing is, definitely, we go through

Unknown:

these first four episodes where it's like, again, Clark has this

Unknown:

way of communicating with this long lost relative at the same

Unknown:

time, Lois, I almost said, Lana, I'm sorry mixing up here. It's

Unknown:

too many Double L's people. So at the same time, we have Lois,

Unknown:

who is dealing with the fact that she is. She has to, she

Unknown:

wants to make sure that she's like up there in the world,

Unknown:

especially with her news writing. But more importantly,

Unknown:

she's dealing with the fact that her dad, she just found out that

Unknown:

her dad was a big part of, like, the trying, the whole effort to

Unknown:

try to kill Superman. So now that they've kind of healed that

Unknown:

from season one, now it's the the aftermath, and now that

Unknown:

she's like trying to figure out, does she take this particular

Unknown:

opportunity that comes up for her, which is to leave

Unknown:

metropolis? Because another thing about this show, even

Unknown:

though it all takes place in Metropolis, they are pulling

Unknown:

every single woman from Gotham that Bruce Wayne has ever had a

Unknown:

connection to, yeah, I mean, we're good in character. We're

Unknown:

going to talk about, you know, some, some of these, but I do

Unknown:

like that. It's, it's just bridging of worlds. Because, as

Unknown:

you know, on this podcast, running thing with us is Batman.

Unknown:

Itis in DC productions, the tendency for Batman to come in

Unknown:

and just steal the spotlight from everybody around them, is a

Unknown:

is a it's a problem. It's a constant problem, into like

Unknown:

fully immersing yourself. So here, I love the little hints

Unknown:

that Gotham exists, that other cities exist without bringing in

Unknown:

additional characters. I think that's really, really great to

Unknown:

let Superman live, and also makes the time. I imagine

Unknown:

they'll get to a point where we'll see another hero, and

Unknown:

that'll be it'll mean a lot more than just assuming, um, so yeah,

Unknown:

so at this it's a good it's also a good part, because it's when

Unknown:

Superman is brought into this beauty competition, that we end

Unknown:

one, one big thing of the story and begin another. So in in

Unknown:

these first few episodes, Superman's debating whether or

Unknown:

not to turn on the beacon, but can't talk to Lois about it

Unknown:

because they're having communication issues. And it's

Unknown:

here where Lois doesn't properly communicate with Superman while

Unknown:

he's in this, you know, dating beauty contest. So she breaks up

Unknown:

with him, and at the same time, she breaks up with him. Kara,

Unknown:

who has been spending her day with Jimmy at her first day on

Unknown:

Earth with Jimmy, sees Clark in this competition, thinks that he

Unknown:

is now a joke that and immediately is on site, has a

Unknown:

fight with her cousin because she thinks he's lost the plot

Unknown:

and he's completely off. And despite Clark having experience

Unknown:

on Earth, Kara, in a specialized suit made from Krypton, is able

Unknown:

to overpower Superman, and that's where she is able to

Unknown:

bring Superman to the season's Big Boss.

ComicChams:

Yes, I will say to that I love this suit that um

ComicChams:

Kara has, because when season one ends, you see this character

ComicChams:

and you for anyone that's that's like, has absorbed as much

ComicChams:

Superman mythos as we have, they know, as soon as you hear about,

ComicChams:

like, Oh, there's another out there, and you see this kind of

ComicChams:

scape of like, this hell escape of this person who's ready to

ComicChams:

conquer, and especially if it's a Kryptonian, you immediately

ComicChams:

think, it's odd. So when this happened, I. Was just like

ComicChams:

seeing her in the suit and realizing that the person that

ComicChams:

we thought this whole time that was going to come to earth and

ComicChams:

that was going to destroy everything with Zod, it's

ComicChams:

actually Supergirl or Cara, and it's, it's such a great twist,

ComicChams:

because I feel like we've, we've been seeing it recently,

ComicChams:

especially this, like Cara, because of everything that

ComicChams:

happened in tomorrow, versus Cara having this, like larger

ComicChams:

connection to either a villain or bad things happening. So

ComicChams:

seeing it play out in this particular way where it's almost

ComicChams:

is still it's it's such a larger scope, but still within the

ComicChams:

confines of what I wanted to see from a Superman story is great,

ComicChams:

and then to have it be that she's like the general, almost,

ComicChams:

of the actual big bad, which is Brainiac, I think that was that

ComicChams:

really came out of left field, because I never would have

ComicChams:

expected that we would have seen something like this, especially

ComicChams:

so soon, because now this entire time as Clark has been dealing

ComicChams:

with like, should he reach out to this cousin? Because the

ComicChams:

entire part of him is just like, I found a family, I found

ComicChams:

friends, but I haven't found anyone like me. So have I really

ComicChams:

found my family? And now it's like, all right, I'm going to do

ComicChams:

it. And then it's just like, literally, all hell breaks loose

ComicChams:

because you got the worst of the worst. Yeah. And this is, yeah,

ComicChams:

this is such a it's such a great turn. I mean, talk about it more

ComicChams:

in character, the character section, but yeah, this is just

ComicChams:

a series of upsetting expectations we're so used to.

ComicChams:

Supergirl comes to earth. She's lost, she's naive, and she's

ComicChams:

this innocent person just obsessed with Krypton and the

ComicChams:

memory at too, too obsessed to move on. And here it's taking

ComicChams:

that obsession and twisting it is really, really, really, a

ComicChams:

really strong choice. And I think this, it's no coincidence

ComicChams:

that this is where the story really hits, where Brainiac

ComicChams:

basically says, Hey, I'm I'm willing your side. I want

ComicChams:

Krypton and the Kryptonian empire to thrive. But obviously,

ComicChams:

brain it's Brainiac, so he's not going to do it in the best way.

ComicChams:

But instead of bottling Earths, like he usually does, just

ComicChams:

collects them. He wants to rule them. So he's obviously unable

ComicChams:

to persuade Clark to turn on Earth with just the conversation

ComicChams:

Takano jutsu does not work, so Brainiac does decides to go into

ComicChams:

Clark's mind, um, and reveal, in doing so, also reveals that he's

ComicChams:

also controlling Cara's mind. He can remote control her at any

ComicChams:

time. So now he tries to do this to Clark in the most brilliant

ComicChams:

story turn. I am still clapping over this. Um, there's a whole

ComicChams:

episode where Clark and Brainiac fight in Clark's mind over

ComicChams:

control, where Brainiac uses a combination of Clark's real

ComicChams:

memories and memories that Brainiac manipulated to get

ComicChams:

Clark's will to weaken, and Clark at the very last second,

ComicChams:

seems to break out of of the the memories gain control, and it's

ComicChams:

then revealed that not only is he stuck in the simulation, but

ComicChams:

that the simulation is called the Black mercy device. This

ComicChams:

insanity. I have seen the black mercy. You probably seen the

ComicChams:

black mercy 1000 times. Usually it's you just get trapped in

ComicChams:

your wildest dream. That's, yeah, it's a plant that traps

ComicChams:

you in the wildest dream to twist it, where Brainiac uses

ComicChams:

it, not only to mind control him Clark, but also trap him in his

ComicChams:

wildest dream. At the end of it, whoever thought of this, I need

ComicChams:

to shake your hand and just, just kiss your hand for a

ComicChams:

second, kiss the ring, because this is exactly what I want. I

ComicChams:

want some I want elements to be changed, like this, things I've

ComicChams:

seen before in a new light, black mercy. I'm spoiling a

ComicChams:

little bit for later, but this is one of my favorite scenes of

ComicChams:

the season, one of my favorite twists. It's incredible,

ComicChams:

incredible. Yeah, it is so well done, especially because, as you

ComicChams:

mentioned, like, you know, we have this concept of what black

ComicChams:

mercy usually is based off of how it's been used in the past

ComicChams:

by villains in comic books and even in animated series, the

ComicChams:

original Superman animated series. So to have it be now

ComicChams:

that like this, I agree. I love that little that moment when

ComicChams:

he's just like, you think it's all safe, like, the day is safe.

ComicChams:

Superman came through, he did everything he needed to do, and

ComicChams:

then it's like, bam, sweep you off your feet. It's not it's not

ComicChams:

all good. So it's like, it is really. Refreshing to see that

ComicChams:

you can still have this level of a twist, especially given the

ComicChams:

fact that it's throughout multiple episodes. So I think

ComicChams:

that, like something that I love about this particular season is

ComicChams:

that in not not like coming after any of the older Superman

ComicChams:

productions have happened that I still always hold, like a

ComicChams:

special place in my heart, is that this particular season,

ComicChams:

it's built out so that it's not just filling up the weak stuff

ComicChams:

ramifications from previous episodes, especially this black

ComicChams:

mercy part, lead up into like the season finale, and the fact

ComicChams:

that it really pushes you to wonder, are they going to be

ComicChams:

able to save the day by the end of this season? Even I forgot

ComicChams:

what was the episode count, because I was like, there's too

ComicChams:

much you could wrap up in a couple episodes. It has to be

ComicChams:

more than this, and they do a great job in not only

ComicChams:

introducing this as the biggest problem, but also bring it to a

ComicChams:

head when it all culminates on Earth, which also got to speak

ComicChams:

back now go flip to the other part of the story that's

ComicChams:

happening, the build up of the villains. So in quickly, just

ComicChams:

mention it. In Season One, they spend a lot of time doing the

ComicChams:

big bad of the week, the villain the week special, where there's

ComicChams:

just like we I could see now that they were trying to

ComicChams:

introduce all these characters to give Superman his adversaries

ComicChams:

this time around, in this second season they are planning, and I

ComicChams:

love it. There's from random episodes that were just random

ComicChams:

scenes that would just come up where it's like you see that Lex

ComicChams:

Amanda Waller and Slade Deathstroke, because they got

ComicChams:

season this, are all working together to try to take down

ComicChams:

Superman, growing their growing their teams, growing their

ComicChams:

systems, in order to finally take down Superman once and for

ComicChams:

All, it includes the inclusion of like, Hank Henshaw, all these

ComicChams:

characters, and you see how they manipulate, or at least like,

ComicChams:

convince these people to join along in their side, from how

ComicChams:

Lex Luthor and Jimmy end up having the debate about like, is

ComicChams:

Superman good for society, to then Having a moment where

ComicChams:

Superman unfortunately does something wrong that leads to

ComicChams:

the US government, the army or the Air Force, to be like, All

ComicChams:

right, we don't, we can't mess with Superman anymore. He

ComicChams:

clearly is a threat to even how it gets played out and how they

ComicChams:

use Metallo in a new reinvigorized way to fight

ComicChams:

against Superman. So I think I love the fact that the story for

ComicChams:

the villains started to drastically change on the back

ComicChams:

end, without having to worry about like they're going to get

ComicChams:

taken out in like one episode or so. Yeah. And I mean, speaking

ComicChams:

of villains, as we come to the end of our time here, you know,

ComicChams:

we keeping it strict. But speaking of villains, there is,

ComicChams:

we'll get into characters, but they bring back other villains

ComicChams:

in interesting roles. Of course, Mala and the brain former

ComicChams:

villains are the ones who ultimately help Lois Reach,

ComicChams:

reach for antiac ship, and eventually Lois, by using the

ComicChams:

black mercy as well, is able to invade the black mercy, pull

ComicChams:

Clark out for the final battle against Brainiac, where, by the

ComicChams:

in this wild battle, every human on Earth, even Amanda Waller,

ComicChams:

comes together to to rise against Brainiac. And by the end

ComicChams:

of this battle, Cara and Clark almost give their lives for the

ComicChams:

planet Earth. And this is where we get a resolution, where all

ComicChams:

the season, people have been wondering things about Superman.

ComicChams:

Is he good, especially with his cousin showing up? Is this good?

ComicChams:

And the earth. The earth accepts Superman by the end of the

ComicChams:

season. So that's where we that's story. That's the story

ComicChams:

section. Lot gets covered in one it's hard to believe it's just

ComicChams:

one season. But moving right along, starting the clock again,

ComicChams:

15 minutes. Uh, let's talk about characters. I do need this 15

ComicChams:

minutes to talk about silver Saint Cloud because her

ComicChams:

character design. I

ComicChams:

think we're gonna blow the budget on that one. No, I

ComicChams:

seriously, great, uh, character design. But no, really, really

ComicChams:

seriously, um, this season juggles a lot of characters, um

ComicChams:

and I, but I want to do, I want to start with saying something

ComicChams:

about Clark this season. Um, Clark, his journey in the season

ComicChams:

really is. He is Superman. He's out here, but now he's like, Can

ComicChams:

the earth accept me? Can Lois accept me? Can people accept me?

ComicChams:

So I think his conflict I love, always said I love a conflict

ComicChams:

that can't be solved with punches from Superman. And this

ComicChams:

is something that I think they really do well to explore. And I

ComicChams:

think it really goes nicely with Kara, which I'm saving Kara for

ComicChams:

for last. But yeah, Clark is the first one that stood out to me.

ComicChams:

Any characters, or, you know, going on Clark, or any other

ComicChams:

characters that really stood out on the hero side? For you, yeah,

ComicChams:

I think for me, I am I trying to figure out who's gonna be my top

ComicChams:

person. But right now, going for number one spots are Lois and

ComicChams:

Jimmy, because Jimmy in particular, he left last season

ComicChams:

rich like my man was balling like he he did the thing that

ComicChams:

not that many people would have seen coming at all. Like, I

ComicChams:

remember when it happened, I was like, oh, oh, this is going to

ComicChams:

change the game. But I also knew that because of of what will

ComicChams:

probably happen, the way that most shows like this are end up

ComicChams:

written, he's going to probably be like super broke by the end

ComicChams:

of it. I'm glad to see that he didn't go broke. But the reason

ComicChams:

why I really was impressed with the way that Jimmy was written

ComicChams:

out was the fact that he spends this season trying to figure out

ComicChams:

what to do with his money, what to do with his impact. He's now

ComicChams:

the leader of this whole, the whole flame bird side of the

ComicChams:

Daily Planet, and that came with a lot of like, like, just a lot

ComicChams:

of power and influence. And you see what it's like for him to

ComicChams:

tackle that there. As I mentioned, there was a scene in

ComicChams:

which Luthor and he they kind of get into a debate about, is

ComicChams:

Superman good? And he gets tricked into joining on this

ComicChams:

panel because he thought that maybe it was just like for his

ComicChams:

work of with flame bird and bringing people together

ComicChams:

throughout metropolis. But instead, it's because he has

ComicChams:

this connection to Superman, and they're trying to use it against

ComicChams:

him. So in this moment, he doesn't really know how to deal

ComicChams:

with the negative impact that his influence has. He's he

ComicChams:

invites Clark. They go out have some fun. So when Luthor is just

ComicChams:

like drilling into Clark and or rather Superman. This is when

ComicChams:

you see Jimmy shies away because he can't he doesn't know what to

ComicChams:

do. And then we spend, like a good majority of his arc being

ComicChams:

like he has. He wants to not just do better for Superman, but

ComicChams:

more importantly, do better for the friend that he feels like he

ComicChams:

failed. So I feel like it really takes him out of his comfort

ComicChams:

zone, especially once he meets Cara, since the two of them end

ComicChams:

up having this like, meet cute when Cara finally arrives. So I

ComicChams:

think seeing that happen was just like, see seeing Jimmy,

ComicChams:

kind of like, evolve as a person, recognize that, like he

ComicChams:

does, have a new sense of power. However, he could still be just

ComicChams:

as good of a guy as he's always been trying to be. Yeah, the

ComicChams:

thing, and the thing about Lois that I love was that um, she

ComicChams:

tackles a lot of her a lot of the stress that her father

ComicChams:

further through, we got a sense that, like her father, kind of

ComicChams:

always kept things, kept things close to heart. Had always

ComicChams:

trained her for the for the populist moment, but never

ComicChams:

really explained what that moment could be. So when he's at

ComicChams:

a point where they do have this reconnection, because she's able

ComicChams:

to save him from a mess that he put himself in, that she's now

ComicChams:

like realizing that a lot of the emotional triggers that she has

ComicChams:

in her life, of being unable to really connect with people and

ComicChams:

and a lot of things that might be hindering her relationship

ComicChams:

with Clark are because of these issues that she's having with

ComicChams:

her father. And you get this episode where you do get, like,

ComicChams:

a strong flashback sequence of, you know, what was her life

ComicChams:

like, growing up, and what was it like, especially being the

ComicChams:

child of an army general. So I think that her finally coming to

ComicChams:

a place where she can finally call him out for the way that he

ComicChams:

raised her, after not really building an emotional connection

ComicChams:

with her. I think that was also really well done. So I'm very

ComicChams:

happy to see that the heroes who didn't really get a chance to

ComicChams:

have much of a a bump up in the last season, because obviously,

ComicChams:

I'm assuming it's because you wanted to focus on building out

ComicChams:

the adversaries now have a moment where they're going

ComicChams:

through these like deep moments. Where they feel like they harmed

ComicChams:

or did something to Clark or Superman that put him on another

ComicChams:

path, and now they're trying to realizing that, like there was

ComicChams:

something more eternally going on with me that needed to

ComicChams:

address that and then fix that later on with Superman, yeah,

ComicChams:

and beautiful. What I love about this arc in particular is they,

ComicChams:

you know, her and her father fighting all season over

ComicChams:

heating, abandonment issues. Sam lane is also very fun, very fun

ComicChams:

for Sam lane here, perfect balance of stern and silly. But

ComicChams:

as we get to the near the the end of the season, Lois is

ComicChams:

constantly using the skills her father taught her. And she's

ComicChams:

never, it's never said aloud. She never once turns to the

ComicChams:

camera and says, Oh, I'm I can only do this because my father

ComicChams:

taught me. So it's really, I think it's really nice that the

ComicChams:

writers trusted us to make that leap when we get to the end,

ComicChams:

that even though she may not like how she was raised by Sam,

ComicChams:

she also accepts that some of the things that he taught her

ComicChams:

are still benefiting her and helping her save her loved ones

ComicChams:

like he always intended her to. So it's really and it nicely

ComicChams:

mirrors a good father with that uh, a good father just executing

ComicChams:

things wrong, and a bad father executing things wrong, which

ComicChams:

leads me directly to Cara. Cara, to me, is the absolute show

ComicChams:

stealer, uh, of this season we've, you know, we touched on

ComicChams:

her, her journey of, you know, she was found by Brainiac, and

ComicChams:

Brainiac told her, Your mission is to help me restore Krypton.

ComicChams:

This is so though they never miss an opportunity to really

ComicChams:

make you feel the weight of what she's done, there's a point

ComicChams:

where Kara realizes she's been glitching. Her memory has been

ComicChams:

glitching out, removed by Brainiac, because she thinks

ComicChams:

she's going to planets and making peace treaties. But once

ComicChams:

the veil is lifted, she's able to see that she has she was used

ComicChams:

as a tool to destroy these planets, to wreck these

ComicChams:

societies. Multiple societies are wrecked, and I imagine this

ComicChams:

is something that will come up later, and I'm excited for it

ComicChams:

too in future stories. But she is in this, this she gets in

ComicChams:

this deep hole and this darkness where she she doesn't even care

ComicChams:

about her own life. What she cares is about saving her cousin

ComicChams:

from being treated the same way that Brainiac treated her all

ComicChams:

these years. That's what it boils down to. And after the

ComicChams:

dust settles, after she's almost given her life, gotten a scar on

ComicChams:

her face permanently to remind her of what happened her battle

ComicChams:

against Brainiac, Clark turns to the earth and says, Do you hear

ComicChams:

that they're cheering, and she's like, cheering for you. He says,

ComicChams:

cheering for us. That is how you write a character. Damn. That

ComicChams:

was good. Like Cara's beautiful, beautifully played, beautifully

ComicChams:

voice acted, and her dynamics with all the characters are so

ComicChams:

fun. So I hats off. Kara had stole my heart, and I think

ComicChams:

stole the show for me this season. I mean, it makes sense

ComicChams:

now, why that last episode was called my adventures. The

ComicChams:

Supergirl is this Superman? Yeah. I Oh, man, she, she

ComicChams:

really. And I love that when everybody first saw her, I think

ComicChams:

because this show ended up being so much of a sleeper show for a

ComicChams:

lot of people, when they saw cars design, everybody thought

ComicChams:

Android 18 and and, to be fair, it is. It's the same it's the

ComicChams:

same outfit, and for black and white.

Unknown:

Um, so yeah, it was like, you know, we were at a

Unknown:

point where this was a been. We were getting a lot of Supergirl

Unknown:

news, I feel like at this point. So it is fair if people would

Unknown:

start to feel a little bit of a fatigue from these like super

Unknown:

beings. Because not only are we having like, 30,000 iterations

Unknown:

of an evil Superman, we were seeing a similar take now

Unknown:

happening to Supergirl. So to have her come in and really,

Unknown:

like you said, just really steal the show in this way, and it's

Unknown:

such a compelling story, I'm really excited, because it's

Unknown:

like also the dynamic that she has, it shows how much of a just

Unknown:

a lighthearted and good person she always will be, because when

Unknown:

she first meets Jimmy, it's an immediate connection. And I

Unknown:

loved it because I grew up so growing up with watching that it

Unknown:

was always like Jimmy and Cara were the ones that like liked

Unknown:

each other. It was nice to see that. But the thing that really

Unknown:

put it over the top for me was when Cara and Superman finally

Unknown:

kind of like. He meets again after she takes him onto the

Unknown:

ship, and he finds like these photos that she has of Jimmy

Unknown:

from their little kind of like unofficial date. And he just

Unknown:

keeps, like, poking fun at her for liking him and knowing that

Unknown:

she knowing he knows that she that well rather, people know

Unknown:

that they like each other, and he's just like, poking fun at

Unknown:

her for it, because it's just like, hey, this is, this is my

Unknown:

friend. Like, I could talk to him for you. So it's like, I

Unknown:

love that dynamic that was so immediately felt like it's a

Unknown:

family dynamic, and I feel like it was one of the first times

Unknown:

that you saw in the show. Also, Clark have a genuine smile that

Unknown:

wasn't just connected to like, well, more so it was connected

Unknown:

to like. He the thing that he wanted. He found that found he

Unknown:

found his real family there. So now he was feeling like his life

Unknown:

is truly complete. And I love the fact that they had that

Unknown:

moment where they were like, We don't know where we're going. We

Unknown:

don't know where we're going to be a part of but let's just have

Unknown:

a little fun in this scary, scary moment, and they did such

Unknown:

a great job with it. I mean, I'm so glad that we got a chance to

Unknown:

see this version of Cara, especially the sacrifice that

Unknown:

she does make at the end to, you know, it's like the thing that I

Unknown:

loved also was that she was willing to sacrifice herself.

Unknown:

And then Clark was like, Nah, we can do this together. And love

Unknown:

that really. Love that absolutely. And on the flip

Unknown:

side, because we, I'm going to put a five minute extension on

Unknown:

the clock, because we can't, we can't, not talk about Brainiac.

Unknown:

We can't talk about Brainiac. Brainiac, typically. And again,

Unknown:

what I said earlier about remixing elements of that we

Unknown:

already know is really fun. So Brainiac, typically, is pretty

Unknown:

straightforward. He's obsessed with acquiring knowledge for

Unknown:

knowledge's sake. In order to do that, he bottles worlds. That's

Unknown:

his typical Mo, you know, just take the take the world

Unknown:

wholesale, get the knowledge, collect all the knowledge in the

Unknown:

universe. Here he's reverse engineered into the plot in the

Unknown:

most brilliant way, Brainiac in this series, in this show, this

Unknown:

continuity was designed specifically to protect Krypton,

Unknown:

to make sure Krypton survives in any form, and when Krypton was

Unknown:

teetering on the edge of destruction, and when Krypton

Unknown:

was about to be destroyed, Brainiac escaped, or so we

Unknown:

thought, because we later discover that Jor el and a bunch

Unknown:

of Scientists were trying to move away from krypton's warrior

Unknown:

initiative. They wanted to stop conquering. They wanted to stop

Unknown:

expanding. And Brainiac calculated that if they did

Unknown:

that, the Kryptonian way of life would eventually be taken over

Unknown:

or completely die out. So what he decided to do was trigger the

Unknown:

destruction of Krypton, make himself, ensure that he was one

Unknown:

of the only survivors, and then go and spread Kryptonian ways

Unknown:

across the universe. And you know him finding Cara was an A

Unknown:

lucky boon for him, but his refrain this whole season is,

Unknown:

I'm doing what I was programmed to. I'm supposed to keep Krypton

Unknown:

alive. I'm sorry you disagree with how I'm doing it, but this

Unknown:

is how I think it works, and it's such a great motivation.

Unknown:

Because, of course, we don't ride with it. We don't support

Unknown:

this, but we understand, yeah, we understand why he's doing

Unknown:

this every step of the way, yeah, I it is really surprising

Unknown:

to see it play out in this particular way, because I think

Unknown:

there's only been like, really. This is the clearest one to

Unknown:

mine. And I feel like many have tried to attempt to incorporate

Unknown:

this in some way where it's like, it's just the programming

Unknown:

of AI. It's like a version of Skynet that just went even

Unknown:

further than we thought. So I really appreciated seeing how it

Unknown:

was reverse engineered like that, because even in the first

Unknown:

season, they do introduce some elements of Brainiac, but it's

Unknown:

not quite what we see it here the character who is like, I'm

Unknown:

doing this to continue the Kryptonian way of life, and even

Unknown:

seeing how that played into the final battle, when it's just

Unknown:

like, the entire time, he's like, we're terraforming this

Unknown:

place. We're going to make sure that krypton is the the essence

Unknown:

of Krypton is there even. And ultimately, Superman and Kara

Unknown:

are legit, the main the characters here, who, who shows

Unknown:

that what he's thinking is right, if they get involved in

Unknown:

another planet's way of life, they're going to. Sway from the

Unknown:

Kryptonian mindset. And even when you see the the whole black

Unknown:

mercy part, you see how different this, like version of

Unknown:

Jor el is compared to call out. And it's not just because they

Unknown:

they're basically the same being, but the difference was

Unknown:

that cultural impact, and so he's seeing this play out. He

Unknown:

didn't see it with Kara, but maybe he did, and that's why

Unknown:

he's just like, I have to take control of her mind. So great

Unknown:

writing on the villain, especially because we really

Unknown:

only had about maybe five, four to five episodes, really, of

Unknown:

seeing how he played out. And the entire time that we're

Unknown:

meeting him and being introduced to him, we're thinking, Oh, he's

Unknown:

not that bad. He seems to really again. This whole preservation

Unknown:

of Kryptonian scape is what we want. So seeing how that his

Unknown:

mindset gets warped is really interesting. And I love again.

Unknown:

Love the fact that it was really because of him that Krypton was

Unknown:

destroyed. Mm, hmm, that that so good. Um, we're closing the

Unknown:

character section. But honorable mentions, any honorable mentions

Unknown:

you want to make right now you you got, you got a little bit of

Unknown:

time who you want to highlight? Uh, Steve. Oh my gosh, the

Unknown:

entire flame bird crew they you know, it's really surprising to

Unknown:

see, like to introduce random characters throughout the

Unknown:

stories that are just like, hey, we're going to show you how cool

Unknown:

our lives can be through these small moments. And Steve having

Unknown:

a really great set of lines where he's just like he helped

Unknown:

save the day at one point, and you hear him having that

Unknown:

conversation about what it was like for him to say today and

Unknown:

what to do next. And then even the kids who were involved, like

Unknown:

flip. I love flip. Also, other honorable mention, silastone,

Unknown:

being a good person here in this one better than what we see in

Unknown:

the past, but more importantly, the appearance of John Henry

Unknown:

irons. I out of nowhere, loved it to be here. What about you? I

Unknown:

gotta give it to the Calvary. Full stop, the entire Calgary

Unknown:

Calvary. We're talking Live Wire heat wave intergang. I'm

Unknown:

counting Mala in the brand as part of the cavalry, because

Unknown:

they came in. All these characters had encounters with

Unknown:

Superman. Superman beat them, but they saw the era of their

Unknown:

ways, or they saw that Superman had good intentions and allied

Unknown:

with him to save Earth in the end. So I love, love them all

Unknown:

coming back again. The tip top of that mountain is Livewire and

Unknown:

heatwave. They had an episode. There was an episode dedicated

Unknown:

to Livewire helping Jimmy and Lois break into an Argus

Unknown:

facility in order to get a spaceship to get to Superman.

Unknown:

And Livewire just pops. She is a great contrast to the rest of

Unknown:

the cast, and her relationship with heat wave, and what I love

Unknown:

about their relationship in particular is there's a point in

Unknown:

media where something isn't said, Isn't pointed at and drawn

Unknown:

attention to. It means that we're moving past it being a big

Unknown:

deal and it being just accepted widely by everyone. So here to

Unknown:

have a an open relationship between Rory and Livewire, who

Unknown:

are both female presenting characters, to have this queer

Unknown:

relationship and not commented. No one at any point goes ha or

Unknown:

Whoa, it's just there. I love that. I really love that that's

Unknown:

being done more and more, and I really hope that we see that in

Unknown:

more animation, because I really think as far as some days, we

Unknown:

think we've come we can still go further. So let's keep up that

Unknown:

representation. That's why they're they definitely stand on

Unknown:

the top. All right, so we talked about characters plot. Let's

Unknown:

talk about how this show looks so animation and fight scenes,

Unknown:

10 minutes on the clock. There's no order. Animation or fight

Unknown:

scenes. What would what's some animation or fight scenes that,

Unknown:

you know, you pop pop into mind when you think about this

Unknown:

season, man, you kind of just stole it during the character

Unknown:

part. Oh my god, that live wire and heat wave sequence when,

Unknown:

when live wire is trying to help out, and heat wave joins in. And

Unknown:

then there's also the they do a second team up later on in the

Unknown:

season finale, too. The it is such an amazing sequence of

Unknown:

animation, because something that I've been realizing, I

Unknown:

think I always like, for some people, it's like, it's a myth,

Unknown:

but I kind of love it this, like blend of a 3d kind of like, I

Unknown:

guess it's more like Flash animation, where anything that's

Unknown:

robotic looks. Shiny looks like it's been put together. My most

Unknown:

immediate thought that I think of it's like the reboot series

Unknown:

from back in the day, and they kind of did it too. There's a I

Unknown:

kind of commented it back when we were if we were doing the DC

Unknown:

anime podcast, when the parademons kind of have a

Unknown:

similar look when they were being blown away, the suits

Unknown:

making them look like they're like little toys, actually, just

Unknown:

moving along this 2d screen is awesome. And they did this for

Unknown:

live wire and heatwave. And I loved it, because not only are

Unknown:

you seeing this animation being like done because they're flying

Unknown:

through the sky, you're having this unspoken moment between

Unknown:

them at the same time is the most badass firefight you've

Unknown:

ever seen in your life. And I love it. I think what this show

Unknown:

does really well is that there are sequences where they just

Unknown:

like, they know who's watching. And given that this show drops,

Unknown:

usually around on Adult Swim late at night, definitely

Unknown:

leaning in towards that, like anime audience. There are many

Unknown:

sequences in which they introduce that like, kind of

Unknown:

like anime feel, and they also introduce the kind of Western

Unknown:

animation feel. It is so good. I love it. I think that's some of

Unknown:

my favorite parts of the animation is clean. It's cut

Unknown:

through, and everything feels like it's a blend on so many

Unknown:

things that I like to incorporate, especially seeing

Unknown:

John Henry irons like it was a different take on what I usually

Unknown:

respect for the suit. But I loved how this dude looked just

Unknown:

like a massive tank with just that hammer walking through in

Unknown:

the middle of the street, and it looks just as exactly what I

Unknown:

would expect for something that's like a prototype or a

Unknown:

mark one version of this suit. So animation, great fight

Unknown:

scenes, I think is the most to me right now, is the most iconic

Unknown:

scene from this season, from the episode pierce the hepton

Unknown:

Superman, when he and Lois are in the black mercy. And they're

Unknown:

like, we're going to get out of here. And you just see them

Unknown:

actually punch through. It is like literally pierce the

Unknown:

heavens. It you feel the emotion you don't even need to be as you

Unknown:

could hate on Superman, but you seeing this thing, it will, it

Unknown:

will warm your heart. So I love that this fight scene animation

Unknown:

was put together. What about you? Were you on fight scenes

Unknown:

and animation? I mean, across the board, what I think this

Unknown:

series does exceptionally, which I think is going to be

Unknown:

underrated for, is that the fight scenes increase in

Unknown:

intensity and scale as the season goes on. So even though

Unknown:

you know you you might not remember Superman versus the

Unknown:

atomic skull, like villain, um, it was a great fight. You go

Unknown:

back over that fight, it's a great fight. So throughout the

Unknown:

season, I like the escalation. I like that the Superman is not so

Unknown:

powerful that robots aren't like he can't just take on 12 robots,

Unknown:

and it's fine. He does struggle in his early career against a

Unknown:

number of robots, so it's you can wear him down, which is

Unknown:

something I like. And it may sound obvious, but the fight

Unknown:

that really, really got me was right at the end of the season,

Unknown:

Brainiac has an army of robots that can use kryptonite. He's

Unknown:

got he's also mind controlling Supergirl at the same time, Kara

Unknown:

at the same time. So Kara and these army of robots are

Unknown:

attacking Clark. He's getting blasted from all sides with

Unknown:

lasers and punches, and he flies up into the sky above the cloud

Unknown:

line. And for a moment, he closes his eyes, and we flash

Unknown:

back to him as a kid, soaring in the sky, feeling the wind in his

Unknown:

hair, feeling the joy of flight. And we cut back to him in

Unknown:

present time. He recaptures that joy, that freedom. He dodges

Unknown:

every attack. He comes back around. The attacks follow him.

Unknown:

The attacks destroy the robot, but he saves his cousin with a

Unknown:

hug and brings her back down. I mean, this is all what makes us

Unknown:

so especially the the careful, because you can do this and you

Unknown:

can have a flashback scene in a fight, and that's fine to a

Unknown:

childhood. But what makes this especially good is they've done

Unknown:

this before. In earlier in the season, they planted a seed that

Unknown:

we might go back to a childhood at some points. So this doesn't

Unknown:

come out of nowhere, that he does this during the fight, and

Unknown:

this is how he sees himself. So the way he sees himself in this

Unknown:

fight as not offensive. In that fight, he actually stops

Unknown:

fighting and to and saves, focuses on the one person he

Unknown:

cares about saving and instead of hitting her. When they get

Unknown:

back to earth, He hugs her again until she is able to break free.

Unknown:

Every frame of that sequence is just full of emotion. It's full

Unknown:

of love. You cannot say this was phoned in that the animators

Unknown:

didn't care. Every minute of that is made by people who care.

Unknown:

So I have to tip my hats off. It is my favorite sequence, maybe

Unknown:

in any superhero show. You know, look, I'm not saying I'm pushing

Unknown:

Batman animated or invincible out any I'm just saying it's one

Unknown:

of my favorite scenes. Top tier. Top tip is to the top, oh man,

Unknown:

yeah, that, I think. And also, there's just so many moments

Unknown:

that I love about that, the the anime, I think, the also the

Unknown:

animation of it, I just love because that whole sequence,

Unknown:

even thinking about it, I was like, yeah. And even just like,

Unknown:

everything's slowing down once he made that hug. It's that's

Unknown:

good to write in, because it even shows us like, Hey, we're

Unknown:

gonna take, we're gonna take this moment right here, and just

Unknown:

like we because we're in, it's normal to be like bouncing all

Unknown:

around the place in a high, intense moment, and then just to

Unknown:

slow down with that hug, to show that the Embrace happened a

Unknown:

plus, A A plus and uh, now, before we give our final

Unknown:

verdict, we're gonna do just uh, five more minutes, good or bad,

Unknown:

standout scenes from the season, just miscellaneous, Anything

Unknown:

that sticks out that you we haven't covered yet, good or

Unknown:

bad. Okay, I'm thinking because I feel like I use the lip a lot.

Unknown:

Um, I think one of the a very quick scene is to me, the

Unknown:

reaction to when Jimmy couldn't defend Clark and Clark's they're

Unknown:

both of their faces

ComicChams:

when they knew that moment was happening, Clark

ComicChams:

realizing that Superman is going to get blamed for so much,

ComicChams:

decides that he has to run away because no one's Going to he

ComicChams:

sees that Jimmy's not gonna be able to really, like, stand up

ComicChams:

for him there. So he's like, this is a part of me now. He's

ComicChams:

been struggling with it now since last season. We don't know

ComicChams:

how long the timeline has been, quite since between season the

ComicChams:

end of season one to now season two. So when this happens, he's

ComicChams:

thinking that, like, Oh yeah, I'm I'm doing good. People love

ComicChams:

me. They're cheering me on. But now there are people coming up

ComicChams:

and saying that the very thing I've been trying to hide about

ComicChams:

myself, people are saying that they hate that. And now when I

ComicChams:

try to bring it forward, it's too late. I can't hide it

ComicChams:

anymore. There people know. People see me, people, they're

ComicChams:

ones closest to me know the secret of mine. And then seeing

ComicChams:

that Jimmy couldn't really defend his friend, I think,

ComicChams:

seeing their faces and their reactions and knowing that that

ComicChams:

plays out throughout the rest of the show. I loved it, the one

ComicChams:

thing that I did kind of mock at first, but ultimately I've grown

ComicChams:

to love the design. I thought it was really weird that Brainiac

ComicChams:

chose to have a Superman suit that was basically bare chest.

ComicChams:

Yes, uh, there. We didn't go right into it, but there's,

ComicChams:

there's a time where Brainiac takes over super man's body, and

ComicChams:

yeah, he get puts on a new suit while he's in the body. And

ComicChams:

yeah, the bear chest low. That was, that was interesting. I get

ComicChams:

that he didn't want to wreck the house of El for several reasons,

ComicChams:

and he's also barefoot. There was a lot of bear moments in

ComicChams:

this. Ultimately, it looks great. It does give this very

ComicChams:

villain this evil presence. But then I was just like, I feel

ComicChams:

like he's going to be a little cold. You, yeah, like, come on,

ComicChams:

you got to cover up. You're not a robot. And, I mean, I think, I

ComicChams:

think it is it maybe that is a thing too. Like he's not used to

ComicChams:

human body, so he doesn't think about those things. But it was

ComicChams:

an interesting design choice. I felt like some fan fiction was

ComicChams:

filled out there. Speaking of design choices, I have two quick

ComicChams:

standout scenes. One is a design choice. There's a mala in the

ComicChams:

brain reveal that they've been going to different multiverses

ComicChams:

and getting kicked out in very short sequence, but they've been

ComicChams:

getting kicked out because they keep opening black holes, which

ComicChams:

is fantastic, but in one of these short scenes, they have an

ComicChams:

origin story for how Mala gets his classic beret because he

ComicChams:

had. Had it in season one, and it's they beat up another Mala

ComicChams:

in the brain, and the mala steals the beret at the end of

ComicChams:

the battle. That's when you want to have an origin story for a

ComicChams:

piece of clothing. That's how I want it delivered, quick, funny

ComicChams:

to the point. But the other standout thing I want to point

ComicChams:

out that I I would like to see them tweak next season, is

ComicChams:

Slade. I love Chris parnell's performance. Slade. I think he

ComicChams:

is really intimidating, but I do think he is too closely tied to

ComicChams:

other characters. I think him as Amanda's number two guy in

ComicChams:

season one worked really well. But here, I still felt like he

ComicChams:

had no agency outside of Amanda. Um, that ultimately was always

ComicChams:

about what Amanda did. And if he's seen Slade in any other

ComicChams:

media, you know, he doesn't need anybody telling him what to do.

ComicChams:

Oh, yeah, even Teen Titans Go we saw that. Yeah. So at the end of

ComicChams:

the season, they kind of end with him. They there's a rift

ComicChams:

forming between him and Amanda all season, but then at the end

ComicChams:

of the season, he just chooses to side with Lex. And I'm like,

ComicChams:

I didn't love that. I didn't love that he switched to someone

ComicChams:

who he also was not getting along with Lex, so I'm hoping,

ComicChams:

going forward, that they just let him be freelance. Because I

ComicChams:

think him out in the world, that version of Slade, out in the

ComicChams:

world with his own agenda, doing whatever he wants is much more

ComicChams:

intimidating than a slave taking orders from Lex or Amanda, like,

ComicChams:

ideally, he'd be working with them, not for them, and that's,

ComicChams:

that's just what I'd like to see all but you know, otherwise,

ComicChams:

Slade is great. It's always good to have, Does he still have his

ComicChams:

eye? I'm trying to remember. No, I think he lost his eye. I think

ComicChams:

it's been a while, okay, since he's had an eye. All right. So

ComicChams:

with all that said, I know it's going to be impossible to tell

ComicChams:

going into it, but gotta ask Season Two of my adventures with

ComicChams:

Superman. Is it a cape or a cap? Man? This thing billows like

ComicChams:

Superman's main piece. This is a cap. This is a sorry, put on a

ComicChams:

hat. What? Cover it up. Cover it up. No man. This show is a

ComicChams:

straight up cape. I love it. I think even from when we first

ComicChams:

learned about it, prior to one of like, before the see the show

ComicChams:

had even started with Season One, I was hesitant. It was

ComicChams:

like, how can you introduce this new Superman series? We were in

ComicChams:

the point where DC was just like, we're recreating

ComicChams:

everything. And season one was great. Season two, far better in

ComicChams:

my opinion. I think they did, oh, they did a really great job

ComicChams:

in getting their writing down. They got a really great job of

ComicChams:

of putting their characters, both the villainous and the

ComicChams:

heroic characters, in the limelight. That makes me want to

ComicChams:

actually find out more about what they want to do. This is,

ComicChams:

this is why I love about this show. It really does a great job

ComicChams:

in making you feel connected to a character. And it's not just

ComicChams:

because, you know, I'm seeing myself in like Jimmy, or I'm

ComicChams:

seeing myself hearing about the the relationships that each of

ComicChams:

these heroes have with another family member or anything. It

ComicChams:

was just that you watch their stories and you see them play

ComicChams:

out and you're like, I can see how that could come about. I can

ComicChams:

see how they can make that decision. I can see how they can

ComicChams:

get out of this situation and still giving us at the same

ComicChams:

time, even though those predictable moments really just

ComicChams:

flipping the script on certain things so and then, in terms of,

ComicChams:

like the animation, great job. Well done. Everything was crisp,

ComicChams:

everything was clear, everything I loved about seeing particular

ComicChams:

designs of characters and their suits and the ways that it's

ComicChams:

being used. Wonderful work. I think that, you know, it shows

ComicChams:

to me that like, though they're like, it's like a two, it's two

ComicChams:

sides of like, the possibilities are endless of how they can

ComicChams:

navigate with their abilities. But at the same time, I'm having

ComicChams:

a really great sense of understanding how they're

ComicChams:

operating with their skill set and just overall dialog. Loved

ComicChams:

it. I think that is such a great show for if you're looking for,

ComicChams:

sometimes just something to kick back and really just hear some

ComicChams:

really great dialog between cast members, between characters,

ComicChams:

you're not going to feel as if something's being rushed. You're

ComicChams:

not going to feel as if they're putting one cast. Character

ComicChams:

ahead of another because they have, like, a higher place names

ComicChams:

or anything like that. Everybody's presence feels so

ComicChams:

balanced throughout the entire series or season right now.

ComicChams:

Well, eight, well actually just series right now. So, yeah, this

ComicChams:

is a cape for me, really hoping that there's going to be a

ComicChams:

season three announcement very soon. I'm not sure if one has

ComicChams:

been made yet, but really looking forward to how they're

ComicChams:

going to take the next stage of how everything that was not even

ComicChams:

like set up to be like a follow up season, but just like, hinted

ComicChams:

that that could be a follow up season. So what about you? Is

ComicChams:

this? Is this a cape, or is this a cap. This is a bright red

ComicChams:

cape. I mean, I am blown away by what this show is able to

ComicChams:

accomplish in the span of a season. It did what some shows

ComicChams:

can't do with twice the amount of episodes. I'm not throwing

ComicChams:

shade at anywhere. I'm just saying as a fact, the ground it

ComicChams:

covered between character dynamics and relationships, and

ComicChams:

the way it twists establish things is so brilliant. It

ComicChams:

shakes up people who say the superhero genre is running out

ComicChams:

of steam. Come watch this. Come watch this. And tell me that you

ComicChams:

think there are no more ideas in this genre, besides the fact

ComicChams:

that there's a lot of characters I haven't used yet, y'all so I

ComicChams:

really want to take this time, because we talk so much about

ComicChams:

the merits, but I just want to take say something really

ComicChams:

quickly about, you know, how people perceive the show, and if

ComicChams:

you're on the fence, how you should, how I think you should

ComicChams:

try looking at it. I think people look at this show and

ComicChams:

think it's for kids. It's corny, um, it's, it's, you know, too

ComicChams:

light and soft. And first of all, no

Unknown:

watch those later episodes, and it is darker than

Unknown:

most, than, arguably, some parts of the Superman animated series,

Unknown:

originally, because cameras destroying whole planets and

Unknown:

Brainiac. You know what that entails. Think about it. Um, so,

Unknown:

not only So, I want people to put away the notion of something

Unknown:

being corny, because I hear this sometimes about Cobra Kai too,

Unknown:

and and other stuff. Don't confuse corny with earnest. I

Unknown:

think we are so used to, you know, not our not your fault.

Unknown:

You grew up on Iron Man. You grew up on dark night. You grew

Unknown:

up on the edgier sides of superhero movies where they

Unknown:

still were wearing the costumes, but they're not. They're still a

Unknown:

little bit afraid to embrace the full identity. So what we what

Unknown:

we're moving back towards is superhero stories that are

Unknown:

earnest, that are honest, TV shows like obrakai that are

Unknown:

earnest, that are honest. And sometimes you might be like, Ah,

Unknown:

okay, I get it. You know, it feels a little cheesy, but I

Unknown:

just want you to think for a second and look at these shows

Unknown:

that are wearing their hearts on their sleeves and willing to put

Unknown:

themselves out there as not saying that we don't need

Unknown:

someone to get stabbed in this episode. We don't need aliens to

Unknown:

rip apart someone. You know they're saying we have a story,

Unknown:

what we want to tell, and it's going to be it's going to take

Unknown:

you on so many places, but trust us early on that we're being

Unknown:

honest. We're taking the pacing slow because there's something

Unknown:

waiting for you at the end. Because I I'll stand by what I

Unknown:

said before. I do think the earlier half of the season is

Unknown:

you could see it as standalone, because the pacing isn't, you

Unknown:

know, hot, hot, hot. But once you once you get to the midpoint

Unknown:

where Cara arrives, you understand why the episodes

Unknown:

before came like that. Everything in those episodes

Unknown:

pays off, everything, nothing is wasted. So trust the process,

Unknown:

trust the show. Trust the critics and the audience who are

Unknown:

loving it. I love it. I want to see even more of it. This is,

Unknown:

this is a certified cape. If you haven't gotten into the show, if

Unknown:

you are reluctant to give it a try, please, please do yourself

Unknown:

a favor. You can even jump in on season two. If you really want

Unknown:

to do that, I'd like you to go back to the beginning, but you

Unknown:

can jump in season two, and you'd still be fine. So please,

Unknown:

please give this a shot, and you'll be rewarded with a fast

Unknown:

and furious esque barbecue at the end of the show, which,

Unknown:

look, I have questions about how all those people were invited

Unknown:

without exposing that clock is Superman. But I'm a let it rock.

Unknown:

I'm gonna let it rock. All right, you get one pass. You get

Unknown:

one pass. It's those glasses, man. They're worth wonder. But

Unknown:

I'm like, the guest list. How do like, from their perspective,

Unknown:

Clark is inviting them to this. They're like, why are we going

Unknown:

to his house for this? Why? Be leaving to small though. Why

Unknown:

would we have this in Metropolis? You know, that's a

Unknown:

good point. Like, if you did this in Metropolis and Clark

Unknown:

just showed up in a park, it'd be fine. But, like, you're kind

Unknown:

of throwing yourself out, my guy, I'm just saying, also, I do

Unknown:

always wonder how people feel about, I mean, it gets talked

Unknown:

about a lot in common. So I do wonder how wonder how people

Unknown:

feel about seeing Lois with Superman and then seeing her

Unknown:

Clark in the next second and be like, Wow, man, this. This man's

Unknown:

a sucker. He really don't know that his old girlfriend is

Unknown:

cheating. That's not your man. That's Superman. Oh, man. But

Unknown:

yes, I couldn't agree more, though, if you are on the fence

Unknown:

about this show, just give it a watch. I think a lot of times

Unknown:

people tend to just say that, Oh, like you said, the show

Unknown:

looks corny. The show is whatever. It's not my style. You

Unknown:

can just give it a chance, versus just saying somewhere at

Unknown:

some point telling someone else not to watch it because you

Unknown:

never even watched it. So and you are so right, you can

Unknown:

literally jump in on season two and feel like you have a proper

Unknown:

understanding of everything that's going on. So yeah, that's

Unknown:

not a knock on Season One guy. Season One is still still good,

Unknown:

but season two is able to take build on that foundation

Unknown:

already. It's already built, so they can soar, go a little bit

Unknown:

more and higher. So still again, season one, it's, it's

Unknown:

different, but it's still, I mean, we wouldn't be here if we

Unknown:

didn't like season one. So yeah, give it a shot. And another

Unknown:

quick addendum, I want to add people who complain that all

Unknown:

superhero movies are the same. What movies are going to

Unknown:

support? What TV shows are you going to support? I want you to

Unknown:

think about that very carefully, because if you're only

Unknown:

supporting the major releases and never giving anything else a

Unknown:

shot. Guess what? You're gonna keep getting all people out

Unknown:

exactly reading my mind. This is why we're co host, because,

Unknown:

sorry, quick rant, but it's recent news at the time of

Unknown:

recording that spider man four might be a multiverse, and

Unknown:

everyone's like, Oh no, I wanted a grounded story. Did you

Unknown:

because you saw Deadpool and Wolverine, no way home the flash

Unknown:

for all its faults, into the spider verse. Did you support

Unknown:

eternals? Shang chi, Harley Quinn with that kind of energy?

Unknown:

And I'm not saying all these movies are certified bangers.

Unknown:

I'm just saying if you see one TYPE of superhero movie in

Unknown:

droves, that's the one they're going to keep making for you. So

Unknown:

if you want to change that, give shows a try, not forcing it down

Unknown:

your throat. I'm just saying, see if you like it. If you

Unknown:

don't, you don't, that's fine, but don't count it out, because

Unknown:

it's different. Yep, and with that important message, we're

Unknown:
