Dr. David Spoon emphasizes the significance of prayer and community support in navigating life's challenges, inviting listeners to share their struggles and prayer requests. He draws attention to the essential role of faith and encouragement in the Christian journey, highlighting the biblical principle that leaders must be equipped to both uplift and convict through sound doctrine. The discussion touches on the importance of being united in faith, encouraging listeners to focus on others in need rather than their own circumstances. Additionally, Spoon shares personal anecdotes and insights about the power of prayer, reinforcing the belief that it can lead to transformative experiences. Listeners are encouraged to engage actively, whether through prayer requests, praise reports, or simply sharing what's on their hearts, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth.
The David Spoon Experience presents a dynamic blend of humor, heartfelt prayer, and spiritual reflection as Spoon engages his audience in meaningful discussions about faith and community. The episode kicks off with a light-hearted introduction, setting a friendly tone that invites listeners to participate in the show’s various segments, which include devotional insights, goofy news reviews, and Bible trivia. Spoon emphasizes the importance of prayer, encouraging his audience to share their needs and support one another in prayerful solidarity. This communal aspect of faith is a recurring theme, as Spoon showcases the power of collective prayer in addressing life’s challenges.
Throughout the episode, Spoon navigates through sensitive topics, including grief and the impact of loss, as he offers prayers for listeners dealing with the death of loved ones. His compassionate approach highlights the intricate balance of joy and sorrow that often accompanies the Christian journey. Spoon underscores the significance of God’s grace during tough times, reassuring listeners that they are not alone in their struggles. He draws on personal anecdotes and scriptural references to illustrate the profound comfort and strength that faith can provide in the face of adversity, creating an emotional resonance with his audience.
As the show progresses, Spoon pivots to a discussion about church leadership, focusing on the qualifications of elders within the church. He passionately argues that spiritual leaders must possess the ability to teach sound doctrine while also encouraging their congregations. This dual role of exhortation and conviction is essential for effective ministry, as it nurtures a supportive environment where congregants can grow in their faith. Spoon’s insights not only educate but also inspire listeners to consider the qualities they value in their spiritual leaders, prompting a deeper reflection on the nature of leadership in the church. With interactive elements such as trivia questions and listener calls, the episode fosters a sense of community and shared learning, making it a rich and engaging listening experience that resonates long after the show concludes.
Takeaways:
The following program contains views and opinions which are not necessarily those of K AAM DJRD Broadcasting or its sponsors.
Jam It Jacob:Hello, everybody.
David Spoon:When it's cold outside, I've got my monthly.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up on today's experience.
David Spoon:It's Dr.
David Spoon:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDs, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.
David Spoon:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.
David Spoon:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh, and ours are really funny.
David Spoon:The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
David Spoon:We hope before this show is over, life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
David Spoon:Well, somebody has to do it.
David Spoon:Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
Jam It Jacob:Living this life, not always easy running in.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:My name is Dr.
David Spoon:David Spooner and I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
David Spoon:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
David Spoon:Here is the key to the show.
David Spoon:We don't know what we're doing.
David Spoon:We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.
David Spoon:But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk faith with you.
David Spoon:So here we go.
David Spoon:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
David Spoon:That process there, some days better than others, some weeks better than others.
David Spoon:We know how that goes.
David Spoon:So our question is, in our audience, people that are listening, people that partake and have been doing so for over five years, they are phenomenal prayer warriors.
David Spoon:And so we have needs that have already been lined up that we will be dealing with.
David Spoon:But we want to know from you, what can our prayer warriors, people in our audience who have great faith, what can we be praying for you about?
David Spoon:How can we pray for you?
David Spoon:What can we do to be a blessing to join you in your struggle?
David Spoon: Like Paul said in Romans: David Spoon:That's how you join a struggle.
David Spoon:You join in the prayer, in the pursuit, in seeking God.
David Spoon:So what can our prayer warriors pray for you about?
David Spoon:That's what we're asking you.
David Spoon:If you have a response to that or if you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Jam It Jacob is like, heading into the week with great faith and expectation.
Jam It Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jam It Jacob:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:How is it going today?
David Spoon:How are things?
David Spoon:How was working over the weekend?
David Spoon:Did it go okay?
David Spoon:Any problems?
David Spoon:Anything?
Jam It Jacob:Yeah, it went well.
Jam It Jacob:Only worked for a few hours Saturday, but it went well.
Jam It Jacob:Recorded Don and Michael's podcast for the next month or so.
Jam It Jacob:So, yeah, it went well Saturday.
David Spoon:Oh, very good.
David Spoon:Glad to hear that.
David Spoon:Just so that you guys know, with Jem and Jacob, whenever there's something going on, he is the man.
David Spoon:So it's Jennifer who runs the station, so don't get that.
David Spoon:She is in charge.
David Spoon:She's a la General.
David Spoon:And then next is the Coronel, and that's our very own Jam and Jacob, who does a phenomenal job.
David Spoon:So everybody just wants to let you know how much they appreciate you.
Jam It Jacob:Okay, well, thank you.
Jam It Jacob:Thank you.
David Spoon:All right, And I'll take that.
David Spoon:$20 in singles or in fives, either way is just fine.
David Spoon:All right, so moving forward, we want to make sure you know what's going on.
David Spoon:If you've got something that you need prayer for, and we got people that we're going to be praying for, we'll probably do that in a little while.
David Spoon:Here's the dealios.
David Spoon:If you've got something that's taking place in your life and you think you just don't know what to do, I've been there.
David Spoon:We've all been there.
David Spoon:We understand.
David Spoon:But God is in charge, and when we petition the Lord, he makes a difference.
David Spoon:And when politicians and academics in Hollywood and media make fun of people who believe that they're making fun of Jesus, and I just want to say that when he does come back, I just don't want to be them when that happens.
David Spoon:Bottom line to this is we believe prayer works.
David Spoon:God makes that declaration.
David Spoon:God created the universe.
David Spoon:The dude can write a book.
David Spoon:And we believe the power of prayer changes lives.
David Spoon:We believe Jesus Christ changes lives.
David Spoon:And so what you got going on, absolutely, positively, you have an opportunity to get prayer.
David Spoon:Additionally, if you want to share a praise report, something that's happened, something that's been a blessing, something between Friday and today that happened, and you're like, you know what?
David Spoon:I know that's the Lord, then share it.
David Spoon:Be a Blessing to other Christians.
David Spoon:Let it be reinforced in your own life and bring glory to the Lord.
David Spoon:If you've got a scripture that you've just been, the Lord's been putting the scripture on your heart and you've just been, wow, it's just really making an impact, share it, because it can make an impact on somebody else.
David Spoon:If you just got something going on you want to share, it's awesome.
David Spoon:Now, we're a little different in that we operate under the idea of encouraging one another as we see the day of the return of Jesus Christ getting closer and closer.
David Spoon:So we don't spend as much time on politics, but we do make it clear we want people to participate.
David Spoon:We just don't want you.
David Spoon:We're not going to tell you whoever to vote for ever.
David Spoon:We will tell you who to always vote with.
David Spoon:And that is in your partnership with God.
David Spoon:And you should be using the word of God to give you strong direction as to what things you're doing.
David Spoon:But we will tell you this, we pray for people, not against people.
David Spoon:So in that mindset, we want to pray for all leaders, new and old, to still fall under the influence of the Holy Spirit, to still know God's truth, to still call upon the name of the Lord for everyone's sake.
David Spoon:That's what we need for not just this country, but for this world.
David Spoon:And at the same time, we will share the things the Lord has done in our lives because that's what the Lord commands us to do.
David Spoon:So it can be for a praise report, can be for a prayer request, can be a scripture, can be something that's just on your heart and mind.
David Spoon:You can call us.
David Spoon:We've already told you that.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:You can also text.
David Spoon:Yes, you are allowed to text during the show.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email.
David Spoon:Email, yeah, email.
David Spoon:During the show, David must increase.org that's David must increase.org so you can call, you can text, you can email.
David Spoon:Either way, we are going to go into prayer right away because we have a couple of very strong elements and very strong needs, and I want to make sure that we address them.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Over the weekend, Nancy's father passed away, so she's asking for prayer for her stepmom and her family.
David Spoon:So we're going to be praying for that.
David Spoon:The Lord miraculously worked out A way for her to see her father beforehand, and she was with him when he passed.
David Spoon:So the graciousness of God was active and is still active, and we're going to be praying for that.
David Spoon:Additionally, our very own Aunt Deb, Holly, who's her daughter in law, her papa, he has gotten a diagnosis where it's a little bit of pancreatic cancer, which is of course not a great thing.
David Spoon:And I think his father passed away from that.
David Spoon:The bottom line is, though, that her father, Papa, has had kind of a spiritual revival or spiritual return, wants to be more connected to the Lord.
David Spoon:So we want to pray for Holly, for the family, and for her papa.
David Spoon:So these are people that we all want to pray for to make sure that people are doing as well as they can be doing.
David Spoon:So do me a favor, stop thinking about what you need.
David Spoon:Stop thinking about how you think God's running short or running behind or any of those other ridiculous lies.
David Spoon:Drop that to the side.
David Spoon:Forget about yourself.
David Spoon:Focus on somebody else.
David Spoon:And let's pray for Nancy and her family and for Holly and her family.
David Spoon:Okay, let's do it right now.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:And Lord, first and foremost, like we often do, we say thank you.
David Spoon:We say praise you, honor and glory to you.
David Spoon:You in the midst of the hardest things, still weave miracles into each situation.
David Spoon:We thank you that you made a way for Nancy to see her father.
David Spoon:We thank you that she was able to be there.
David Spoon:We thank you, Lord God, and pray for that family, for Nancy's stepmom, for the family, that there can be a comfort, There could be a sense of peace and a sense of grace, knowing that even in the midst of a really difficult time, you poured out your mercy upon Nancy and her family.
David Spoon:We thank you for that.
David Spoon:But we ask you to give them courage and strength because it's still a hard time.
David Spoon:And Lord, you know that even when Lazarus was getting right back up, Jesus, you wept because they were hurting.
David Spoon:And so we just ask you to embrace and put your arms around and comfort your very children.
David Spoon:And, Lord, we lift up Papa to you.
David Spoon:We thank you for Holly, for Holly reaching out to everybody and asking for prayer.
David Spoon:And we thank you that Papa is making a return to you.
David Spoon:He's turning his face back towards you, trying to connect again.
David Spoon:And, Lord, we pray for that family.
David Spoon:We pray for the entire family that faith would be a powerful component and that Holly would start to really step into it, believe stronger and stronger.
David Spoon:And that you would bless Deb and you would bless everybody involved, including Blake and Just everybody who's connected and have mercy and grace on their family.
David Spoon:Oh Lord, we pray for these people.
David Spoon:And Lord, I want to pray for everybody out there who knows they're going through it but doesn't want to talk about it.
David Spoon:Lord, we are, we are calling out, crying out for your mercy.
David Spoon:David said multiple times, have mercy.
David Spoon:Have mercy on me, Lord, please have mercy on these people.
David Spoon:Let your.
David Spoon:Let your mercy, let your mercy cover them like a blanket, like a comfort.
David Spoon:And watch out for your people.
David Spoon:Keep us safe, but keep our eyes focused on you.
David Spoon:We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:Amen and Amen.
David Spoon:Okay, so that's how we're starting today's show.
David Spoon:I do want people to be aware we are on.
David Spoon:Let me check with Jacob.
David Spoon:Jacob, are we on a modified schedule this week?
David Spoon:Is that true?
Jam It Jacob:Yes, we are.
David Spoon:So as I understand it, we are doing the show Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday are not active days live in the studio, correct?
Jam It Jacob:Correct.
Jam It Jacob:Well, we'll be here half the week.
Jam It Jacob:We'll be here today, tomorrow and Wednesday and then we'll be out the rest of the week for Thanksgiving break.
David Spoon:Okay, so that means that we've picked excellent replays for Thursday and Friday.
David Spoon:It also means whenever we take a two day break, the giving goes down.
David Spoon:So you hear me be a little more attitude about the giving over the next couple days because that's what happens.
David Spoon:I don't determine it.
David Spoon:It's kind of how it happens.
David Spoon:So we'll be believing that the Lord will be pouring things out in the next couple days.
David Spoon:In the meantime, folks, we are in the book of Titus.
David Spoon:And for those that do not know, we are in Titus chapter one.
David Spoon:And we are at verse nine, Titus chapter one, picking it up in verse nine.
David Spoon:And I happen to like this verse quite a bit.
David Spoon:And the reason that I like this verse is because of what it says, obviously.
David Spoon:Here's what it says.
David Spoon:It's making reference, talking about all the different things that everybody needs to be connected in regards to leadership, what needs to be these qualifications.
David Spoon:And this one seems to be lost in many places which I've not quite figured out why.
David Spoon:This one I'm going to talk about right now seems to be in second, third, fourth or fifth place on everybody's list when it's just as important as any other qualification.
David Spoon:So this is verse nine, Ottitis going through all these things we already said how that a bishop's gotta be blameless, steward of God, not self willed, not quick tempered, not given to wine, not Violent, not greedy for money, very cool, we get that.
David Spoon:But hospitable, a lover of what's good, sober minded, just wholly self controlled.
David Spoon:Verse 9.
David Spoon:Holding fast the faithful Word as he has been taught.
David Spoon:That he may be able by sound doctrine to exhort and convict those who contradict this qualification seems to escape quite a few people, and I'm not actually sure why.
David Spoon:And the whole point of this is elders, people who are in positions of authority, they have to have a capacity, they have to have an ability to hold fast to the word of God as it's been taught, and to faithfully teach and communicate sound doctrine in the Word of God.
David Spoon:They gotta be able to communicate what's true.
David Spoon:One of our worst giftings in the church is the ability for people to communicate truth, teach truth where it can be.
David Spoon:Not just really cool theology, but applicable in fact, even in schools, even in seminaries.
David Spoon:There is a whole line of PhD and doctorates for theological insights and a whole separate wing for practicality, practical theology.
David Spoon:And you don't have one without the other.
David Spoon:You have to have them together.
David Spoon:And so one of the callings or one of the requirements for people who are in these leadership positions are to be able to speak in such a way to bring truth.
David Spoon:They're supposed to be able to exhort, which means to encourage.
David Spoon:Did you know that Paul tells Titus, hey, you know, one of the things that these leaders need to do is be encouragers.
David Spoon:They need to encourage people.
David Spoon:Did you ever think, why would that be?
David Spoon:Because Christians need to be encouraged by one another, because there is an enemy who is in a constant war.
David Spoon:So the idea of exhorting or encouraging is to lift people up.
David Spoon:For those that don't know as well, to exhort somebody is to build up.
David Spoon:And we're supposed to be building up, and our leaders are supposed to be building up.
David Spoon:That's what they're called to do.
David Spoon:If you go to a church and your pastor's a great teacher and he does a lot of encouraging or lifting up, you're blessed.
David Spoon:You should consider yourself blessed.
David Spoon:I've been to thousands of churches.
David Spoon:There are not, there are not, not every church does a phenomenal job in that, let me just say, leave it there.
David Spoon:So an elder's gotta have this ability through sound doctrine, to encourage people.
David Spoon:Take the doctrine, tell the people how it applies, tell them how it works, and lift them up.
David Spoon:But at the same time, he's gotta have a capacity to convict people, which means bringing truth against people's failings.
David Spoon:Conviction through the truth means that what's Falling short is being identified and the word of God is being declared so that people can understand.
David Spoon:This is the standard by which we're supposed to go.
David Spoon:Falling short can be covered in sin, but it is not your goal.
David Spoon:We don't have a goal to fall short.
David Spoon:And so he says, holding fast the faithful word as he's been taught that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and to convict.
David Spoon:Then he says this.
David Spoon:Those who contradict.
David Spoon:What do you mean, those who contradict?
David Spoon:This contradiction likely means those that have one part of the word or take one part of their faith, but it doesn't really line up with the other parts of their faith.
David Spoon:It's almost like an internal conflict or an internal contradiction.
David Spoon:So let's understand something about where unification comes from.
David Spoon:From an individual.
David Spoon:It comes from the word of God, not using some of the word, but all of the word, all of it in context.
David Spoon:And it also comes from the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:And if you're a person that's divided, let me say this is really important.
David Spoon:If you're a person that's divided within yourself, the unity is found in your communion with God.
David Spoon:If there's always a part of you that's turning left or turning right and not walking in sync, the answer is God.
David Spoon:The answer is the word of God.
David Spoon:The answer is God himself.
David Spoon:So we encourage and we.
David Spoon:I know people are like, oh, I don't know what you're talking about.
David Spoon:Yes, you do.
David Spoon:There's a party that goes out off the reservation.
David Spoon:You're divided.
David Spoon:And Scripture's very, very clear on that.
David Spoon:A double minded man should not think he shall receive anything.
David Spoon:Wow, double minded.
David Spoon:What's that?
David Spoon:That's like you're thinking one way here, you're thinking another way there.
David Spoon:So the elder need this, the leader.
David Spoon:The directors are encouraged to help people to pull it together and walk with the standard that the Lord has set up.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:How come that doesn't get talked a lot?
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:You should see how little commentary there is in that.
David Spoon:It's amazing.
David Spoon:All right, let's do our trivia question.
David Spoon:Who does the Bible record as being 13 years old when he was circumcised?
David Spoon:Genesis, Chapter 17, Verse 25.
David Spoon:Who does the Bible record as being 13 years old when he WAS circumcised?
David Spoon:Genesis, Chapter 17, verse 25.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Additionally, you can send an email.
David Spoon:An email?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:David must increase.org that's davidmusincrease.org Very simple.
David Spoon:Who does the Bible record being 13 years old when he was circumcised?
David Spoon: Genesis: David Spoon:In the meantime, Dave's going to take advantage of the time and remind you to check out the website and remind you that Radio Rent is coming up.
David Spoon:Don't you love Radio rent?
David Spoon:And a short week is coming up.
David Spoon:Don't you love a short week?
David Spoon:And that's when our giving gets a little tougher.
David Spoon:Don't you love it when it gets a little tougher?
David Spoon:And we are asking you to give, as the Lord puts it, on your heart, not by being manipulated or forced or coerced.
David Spoon:Second Corinthians 9, 6, 7 says this.
David Spoon:Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.
David Spoon:Whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
David Spoon:Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.
David Spoon:For God loves a cheerful giver.
David Spoon:Check it out on the website, if you can, please.
David Spoon:He must increase.org he must increase.org hold on.
David Spoon:Jacob's caught up in a conversation.
David Spoon:God bless him.
David Spoon:God bless.
David Spoon:See, it's hard, right, because somebody's sharing a lot, and that's awesome, but he's still got to work it out.
David Spoon:So before we get you to the website, before we shoot you over there, I do want to remind you that we are up against it.
David Spoon:On Wednesday, we will have our Radio Rent due, and it's due every month, and it's not exactly pennies on the dollar.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:So I just want to point that out to you.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Let me check in with Jacob and see if he can break away and send us up to the website.
David Spoon:The website is he must increase.org prayer request.
David Spoon:He must increase.org praise report.
David Spoon:He must increase.org looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He must increase.org he must increase.org can't touch this.
Jam It Jacob:Can't touch this.
David Spoon:Can't touch this.
David Spoon:That's what I said.
David Spoon:I'm just saying.
David Spoon:That's what I said.
David Spoon:I love that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So your trivia question.
David Spoon:Who does the Bible record as being 13 years old when he was circumcised?
David Spoon: Genesis: David Spoon:That is going to be your best reference point.
David Spoon:Obviously, we do have people answering, and they're giving nicknames.
David Spoon:We won't say anything about the nicknames.
David Spoon:Do we have somebody that wants to answer the trivia question?
David Spoon:We do.
David Spoon:So let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
David Spoon:Hello.
Sharon:Hi, this is Sharon.
David Spoon:Hi, Sharon.
David Spoon:How are you?
Sharon:Hi.
Sharon:I'm fine.
David Spoon:Oh, I'm glad.
David Spoon:I'm very, very glad.
David Spoon:All right, are you ready for the trivia question?
David Spoon:I'll set it up for you and then give you a chance for you to answer.
David Spoon:You ready for it?
Sharon:Okay.
David Spoon:Okay, you ready?
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon: umcised, according to Genesis: Sharon:Um, that would be Ishmael.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Emmanuel.
David Spoon:You are right.
David Spoon:That is right.
David Spoon:Excellent job.
Sharon:Thank you.
David Spoon:You're welcome.
David Spoon:You're welcome.
David Spoon:How are you doing today?
Sharon:I'm doing great.
Sharon:How are you?
Sharon:This is an accident that I called in.
Sharon:I was calling in to talk, to ask a question, and I did not know it was trivia time.
Sharon:God created this moment, and I've been wanting to talk to you, and so he created this moment.
Sharon:So thank you, David Spoon, and thank you for being a bright light on the radio.
David Spoon:Oh, that's so nice of you to say, and I really do appreciate it.
David Spoon:It's always a blessing to know that we've blessed, and it makes what I do a lot.
David Spoon:It does make it a lot easier to do, and it makes it easier to put up with the other stuff, which is kind of like, that's just a reality check.
David Spoon:Like, yeah, okay, I can get through it.
David Spoon:I can get through it.
David Spoon:So that's really, really kind of you to say.
David Spoon:We really appreciate it.
Sharon:We found you not too long ago and started listening to you, but I'm back in Austin, and I didn't realize you were on.
Sharon:So I'm doing, like, book work and things.
Sharon:And so I just called in.
Sharon:I thought, oh, there is.
Sharon:There's his number.
Sharon:And I called in.
Sharon:He says, do you want to answer the trivia question?
Sharon:I said, oh, really?
Sharon:You mean, oh, I can go online with David Spoon.
Sharon:I'll take it.
David Spoon:Well, that's a blessing, and you are welcome to call in anytime.
David Spoon:And not just for trivia, but if you got something you want to share or if there's something the Lord's put on your heart or if you need prayer, we are available to do what we can to be a blessing.
David Spoon:So you always have that free opportunity, always need prayer.
Sharon:And I would like to talk to you some other time, like off the radio.
Sharon:Is there any way I could talk to you sometime?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Here's a great way to do it.
David Spoon:Email me at david must increase.org.
David Spoon:okay.
David Spoon:David must increase.org and then usually what I do with people is set up a time when I'm going home to talk to them while I'm in the car.
David Spoon:That's usually how I do it.
Sharon:I love that.
Sharon:I do that, too.
Sharon:Okay, I will do that right now.
Sharon:And thank you so much.
David Spoon:Thank you.
Sharon:God bless you.
Sharon:God bless you.
David Spoon:God bless you as well.
David Spoon:Thank you so much.
Sharon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, folks.
David Spoon:Now, how much fun was that?
David Spoon:All right, we'll take our break.
David Spoon:What great timing, ladies and gentlemen.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:Ah.
David Spoon:Get into our text.
David Spoon:Colossians chapter.
David Spoon:We covered everything, right?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Colossians chapter 3, verses 2 through 4.
David Spoon:Whatever you do, or I'm sorry, it's actually Colossians 3, 24.
David Spoon:Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically.
David Spoon:Is something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord because you serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:The scripture tells us that whatever we do.
David Spoon:Now, we've gone through this a couple of times, and we have to go through it multiple more times to really grasp it, but that phrase whatever we do happens to mean whatever we do.
David Spoon:That's what it means.
David Spoon:And we're supposed to do it enthusiastically, with an eagerness, not with an obnoxiousness, with an eagerness to do it as unto the Lord.
David Spoon:So the things that we're required to do that we have to do, there should be a disposition and attitude of enthusiasm that is connected to the Lord.
David Spoon:It's not that you like to do everything, but if you can understand that in the doing of it unto the Lord, you're doing it with a different priority in mind, you understand that.
David Spoon:In other words, what you do, do it unto the Lord and do it with this attitude of a full heart and an eagerness.
David Spoon:I had somebody.
David Spoon:I'll say her name.
David Spoon:Suzy Lopez was at kprz.
David Spoon:She was the direct marketing director.
David Spoon:Susie did the marketing director for San Diego.
David Spoon:She said something to me one time that was so profoundly simple, it was irritating because I had to do something for a client because that's what you had to do at Salem.
David Spoon:And I was like, blah.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So she said, dave, she goes if you can't get out of it, get into it.
David Spoon:And it was like, that was really good advice.
David Spoon:If you can't remove yourself from it and you have to do it, at least do it right.
David Spoon:I mean, do what you're going to do and do it with the right attitude, do it with the right spirit.
David Spoon:Do it with this better mindset.
David Spoon:And I think she was more right than wrong.
David Spoon:No, I'm not talking about doing bad things or anything like that.
David Spoon:That's weird stuff.
David Spoon:I'm talking about doing it as unto the Lord and recognizing that when you do it that way, it is from the Lord and only the Lord that you will receive the true eternal reward.
David Spoon:You might go through whatever your process is, but when you do it as unto the Lord, you can recognize that the Lord is the one that brings the reward.
David Spoon:And that's just living your life for the Lord.
David Spoon:And that's just good, right?
David Spoon:I mean, that can't be a bad thing.
David Spoon:The David Spoon experience.
