SHOW NOTES: As Walk with God continues into its third year, we will begin this new season entitled Living Water. The central topic will be water and our study will include select passages of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, in the coming weeks. There are well over 600 references to water in the Bible. Many of these verses have great significance and important lessons for each of us to study and apply to our lives. We will look at passages where God miraculously provides water and others where God’s power overcomes the might of water. There are passages where the value of water pales in comparison to God’s spiritual provision. Amazingly, God takes the common concept of water and infuses it with His deep spiritual significance.
Today, we look at Genesis 1, “In the beginning, God created…” God’s name here is Elohim, the God of Creation. God alone is eternal. In the beginning, the land was formless and empty, surrounded in darkness. It was covered with water. Then, on day 3 of creation, God gathered the waters under the heavens together. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters He called Seas. Psalm 33:7 says, “He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; He puts the deeps in storehouses.” Water is part of God’s creative plan and design.
