  • The importance of taking daily nature walks cannot be overstated; it's my personal zen time.
  • Having a supportive pet, like my cat Treble, can truly be one of life's greatest joys during ups and downs.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

What's something that just keeps showing up in your life and reminding you of its truth?

Speaker A:

Hi, welcome back to All About Being Single.

Speaker A:

Or welcome if you're new here.

Speaker A:

I'm Violeta, your host.

Speaker A:

I just turned 38 and here are 38 life truths I was heavily reminded of during year 38.

Speaker A:

I hope some of these help you as well.

Speaker A:

It's not all about being single, but it does all apply to me, who is single like you listening.

Speaker A:

Before I do that, please take a moment to rate and review this podcast wherever you are listening.

Speaker A:

I really appreciate it.

Speaker A:

Okay, here they are.

Speaker A:

Number one, Some people anchor you, some people are an anchor.

Speaker A:

Number two, I'm not fooling myself if I don't take a daily nature walk.

Speaker A:

Number three, the more aligned things I have in my life, the less I think about the lack of a partner in life.

Speaker A:

But even so, there's still times I'm just lonely and or times I'm craving a romantic partner.

Speaker A:

Number four, my cat Treble, who's in this room with me here right now, is literally one of the best things that's ever happened to me.

Speaker A:

He's been with me for so many good and bad events in my life.

Speaker A:

I love that I get to spend so much time with him.

Speaker A:

Number five, Never again will I buy a house or condo or townhouse, whatever, that isn't recently remodeled.

Speaker A:

Because remodeling a house while single and having to do the bulk of the work and spend so much money hiring people, just all of the things, managing all of it, all the things, is just so dysregulating to my nervous system.

Speaker A:

It's just so overwhelming.

Speaker B:

Number six.

Speaker A:

Cutting the lawn, Cutting the grass is a calming activity I actually enjoy.

Speaker A:

Just not when I'm also in the middle of a home remodel.

Speaker A:

Number seven.

Speaker A:

Balance in life is a lie.

Speaker A:

Some days, months or even years, some activities and tasks are just more important than others and you're going to spend more time doing those.

Speaker B:

Number eight.

Speaker A:

I love letting go of things that no longer serve me.

Speaker A:

Fucking love it.

Speaker A:

Number nine, most people don't actually listen to me.

Speaker A:

Number 10, I am most people.

Speaker A:

Sometimes.

Speaker A:

Number 11, when I care little more, people are interested in me.

Speaker A:

I really don't like that, but it just is what it is.

Speaker B:

Number 12.

Speaker A:

Some help is free.

Speaker A:

Some help is expensive.

Speaker A:

Some help is reciprocal.

Speaker A:

All of the help is needed at various times.

Speaker B:

Number 13.

Speaker A:

Just like a romantic partner, not every friend is good for everything.

Speaker A:

Some are good at having fun with.

Speaker A:

Some are good with being just empathetic towards your Situation.

Speaker A:

Some we need to spend more time with, some less time with, some we need to get rid of.

Speaker B:

Number 14.

Speaker A:

I like my own company the most.

Speaker A:

That's a lie.

Speaker A:

I like being by myself and with my cat the most.

Speaker A:

A home remodel will take at least four times as long as I think it'll take and at least four times as much money.

Speaker B:

Number 16.

Speaker A:

Take breaks.

Speaker A:

Take breaks during the day, take breaks during the week.

Speaker A:

Take a month long or year long break off whatever it is that you need a break from.

Speaker A:

Which reminds me, this is going to be a super quick break and I'm.

Speaker B:

Going to ask you to rate and.

Speaker A:

Review this podcast, please.

Speaker A:

And I'll do my dance break.

Speaker A:

So if you've never listened, I like to dance every day.

Speaker A:

And so we're going to do a little dance break.

Speaker A:

Feel free to dance along.

Speaker A:

I'll be back in about 30 seconds.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Number 17.

Speaker A:

Some people really do have bad luck.

Speaker A:

They're not being victims.

Speaker B:

Number 18.

Speaker A:

But also sometimes people treat themselves as victims when really they're contributing to the problem.

Speaker A:

Both having bad luck and sometimes doing stupid things could be true.

Speaker A:

Number 19.

Speaker A:

It's okay to cry.

Speaker A:

Number 20.

Speaker A:

It will all be worth it.

Speaker A:

Number 21.

Speaker A:

When you take chances, the universe or God, whatever you believe in, rewards you.

Speaker B:

Number 22.

Speaker A:

This is a hill I'll die on.

Speaker A:

I cannot date someone who doesn't believe in some kind of a higher power, but he also cannot only believe in that higher power when it's to justify his poor behaviors.

Speaker B:

Number 23.

Speaker A:

People do actually notice what you do or what you don't do, meaning people do pay attention to other people.

Speaker A:

More than general cliche advice tries to make us believe.

Speaker B:

Number 24.

Speaker A:

Getting a massage, especially as a single person, should be a free and and mandatory monthly reward.

Speaker A:

Too bad it's not.

Speaker B:

Number 25.

Speaker A:

It's okay to be angry sometimes.

Speaker B:

Number 26.

Speaker A:

It's okay to dwell on some things sometimes.

Speaker B:

Number 27.

Speaker A:

I hate unsolicited advice of any kind.

Speaker A:

Don't ever give it to me unless I'm asking for advice.

Speaker B:

Number 28.

Speaker A:

Whatever is for me is for me.

Speaker A:

Number 29.

Speaker A:

I never thought I would be where I am in life as at this age.

Speaker A:

This is both a good and a bad thing, but mainly a good thing.

Speaker B:

Number 30.

Speaker A:

I love my cat so much.

Speaker B:

Number 31.

Speaker A:

I appreciate so many people in my life for how they have helped me.

Speaker A:

Whether it's by opening my eyes, by lending a hand, by sitting with me when things were rough, even just by still being a part of my life.

Speaker B:

Number 32.

Speaker A:

I love taking my sweet ass time with whatever I'm doing.

Speaker A:

I like to do things slowly.

Speaker A:

Number 33, I appreciate beauty.

Speaker A:

I just love beautiful things and beautiful pets and beautiful people and beautiful moments.

Speaker A:

Just anything that's fucking beautiful.

Speaker B:

Number 34.

Speaker A:

I love rediscovering music I used to listen to that I haven't heard in years.

Speaker B:

Number 35.

Speaker A:

A vacation is an investment in my mental health.

Speaker B:

Number 36.

Speaker A:

I will say no to anything that doesn't make me better.

Speaker A:

Number 37.

Speaker A:

And it's my no leg to stand on.

Speaker A:

People do make other people feel things.

Speaker A:

That's how we were designed.

Speaker B:

And number 38.

Speaker A:

And I'm gonna leave you with this one only you know what's best for you.

Speaker A:

Not me, not your friends, not your family, not even your therapist.

Speaker A:

So listen to yourself and what you need and want always.

Speaker A:

This episode is a little bit different again.

Speaker A:

I've just been doing the home remodel, so I am super busy and just overwhelmed with that.

Speaker A:

So for the next few episodes, these episodes will probably be a little bit different.

Speaker A:

So just expect that, please.

Speaker A:

But I am going to do a no to self and your glow up for this week.

Speaker A:

And they're just one and the same.

Speaker A:

So what's something that keeps showing up in your life that is trying to teach you a lesson that would actually help if you listen to it?

Speaker A:

So think about that.

Speaker A:

Jot it down, whatever you want to do with it.

Speaker A:

Either way, as always, thanks for listening.

Speaker A:

I'm saying this to you as much as I'm saying this to myself as I just turned 39 and I'm not yet where I want to be in life.

Speaker A:

Even if we're late, we're right on time, baby.

Speaker A:

I'll talk to you next Tuesday.

Speaker C:

Make a life.

Speaker C:

Make a life.

Speaker C:

Make a life.

Speaker C:

Sam.
