If you ever need someone to declutter your house, I’m your guy. I can throw things out fast. The only problem is, speed doesn’t always leave much room for patience or discernment—and there’s a decent chance something important might accidentally go with the clutter.

Sometimes I bring that same desire for instant results into prayer. I want the answer, the solution, the change—and preferably right now. But God often works differently. His answers can unfold slowly, inviting us to stay with Him, trust Him, and become more thoughtful about what we’re actually bringing to Him.

Prayer doesn’t always give us the quick fix we’re looking for. Sometimes the gift is simply that it gets us to stop, get quiet, and bring our situation before God with intention. Maybe today, instead of rushing through a prayer for immediate results, we can give God a little more room to work through the process.

Scripture (NIV):

Philippians 4:6 — “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Where am I looking for an immediate answer from God right now?

Have I been treating prayer like a quick fix instead of a process?

What would it look like to slow down and pray more intentionally today?
