Scottie is the son of military parents and was born overseas. He spent the first part of his childhood in England before they were transferred back to west Texas. Life back in the states was not easy for Scottie and eventually he returned to Europe.

Through life’s ups and downs, Scottie reconnected with his childhood ‘crush’ and went on to marry her. When their first child was conceived, there were complications even before birth. A few years later, they discovered that he was autistic and needed extra care. Living in a foreign country, and raising a child that needed extra care, led Scottie to actually rail against God.
