Dr. Nuñez-Argote is an accomplished laboratory professional that is passionate about her colleagues being healthy and prosperous. In this exciting episode, co-host Stephanie Whitehead and Dr. Nuñez-Argote, discuss her professional journey and her ongoing research focused on musculoskeletal pain in laboratory professionals. Special Guest Bio:
Letycia Catalina Nuñez-Argote, PhD, MLS(ASCP)CM, was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She completed a BS in clinical laboratory science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in 2007. After graduating, she worked as a night shift medical technologist at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She returned to her home country to pursue a Master’s in Public Health from the Escuela Nacional de Salud Publica de Mexico, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, which she completed in 2011. She started teaching with the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Arkansas in 2014. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in laboratory sciences as clinical assistant professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her PhD training is in Health Policy and Management and her research seeks to integrate safety practices to address pain, burnout and turnover in laboratory professionals, and to understand the staffing needs of rural laboratories.
