Today we've got some apple spiced beers. A crazy dude gets in a fight.
Speaker:Skunky beer stories and 19 beer skincare tips. Let's go.
Speaker:Welcome in everybody. This is the Craft Beer Republic.
Speaker:Thank you for drinking. Most importantly,
Speaker:thank you for joining. I am Flex here at home on the Fresh
Speaker:Coast coming in on the west coast. We got my main man, Greg.
Speaker:That's right. How's it going, man? I'm still on the west Coast and
Speaker:I'm in a hotel still. Still in one. Of these days.
Speaker:It's like the world's worst camping trip.
Speaker:Yeah, without the fire or, like, getting drunk around it or, like,
Speaker:accidentally falling into it or. Any of the fun that goes along
Speaker:with it. Yeah, I think my wife has a boyfriend
Speaker:by now. Well, she's lonely. At least we can both agree.
Speaker:What a lucky guy. I'm jealous. She is amazing.
Speaker:What else is amazing is Portland, Oregon the top city from last week?
Speaker:Thank you. Portland. Love me some. Portland. Have you been to Portland?
Speaker:I've never been. Fun. Fun. I've been a couple times.
Speaker:A kid at work. He goes to Oregon, like,
Speaker:twice a year. His dad's best friend lives out
Speaker:there. So they vacation out there a
Speaker:good amount. Mhm. And he says nothing but top
Speaker:shelf things about Oregon. Love me some Oregon. Well, Portland.
Speaker:I've only been to Portland. Oh, I'm sorry. I.
Speaker:I'm sure I would like to see whatever is near, like the coast.
Speaker:Right. You know, just to. Are you are you a fan of poutine?
Speaker:I've never had it, so I'm not Canadian.
Speaker:Um, for anybody that's curious. You're from Wisconsin,
Speaker:but I'm like super southeastern Wisconsin, right? Right.
Speaker:So we're still far away from Canada, not Canadian.
Speaker:Just to set the record straight. I love poutine.
Speaker:It's like the tastiest thing ever. This is like. Gravy on fries.
Speaker:Yeah. But other things, too. It's not just fries and gravy.
Speaker:It's like, think kind of nacho esque in the sense that, like,
Speaker:they can load that shit up. Like loaded fries.
Speaker:Yeah, but there's always gravy in order to be poutine.
Speaker:I had the best poutine of my life in Portland. I want to go.
Speaker:I hope that place is still there. Because I do want to go back and
Speaker:destroy my insides. Jesus. Alas, not a French fry show.
Speaker:I'm sorry. Not. But I do fuck with some French fries,
Speaker:so I. I'm intrigued. I've heard about it.
Speaker:I've never had it. Do yourself a favor. Maybe one day.
Speaker:Why don't you do yourself a favor? Gladly.
Speaker:Tell us about the superior drinking.
Speaker:I Love My Beer. I Love My Beer. I Love My Beer.
Speaker:Well, I, uh, I hit up another liquor store looking for some craft beer.
Speaker:And I have to say, selection is a bit slim at this establishment,
Speaker:but they did have some Sierra Nevada, which, as we know, is craft.
Speaker:Yeah, super classic, two super classic.
Speaker:And they had something I have not had yet, not just on the show,
Speaker:but at all. And that is Sierra Nevada's
Speaker:Cosmic Little Thing IPA. It's a hazy double IPA, and it says
Speaker:an interstellar wave of tropical flavor untapped has a three seven,
Speaker:nine and they say, write an interstellar wave of tropical
Speaker:flavor in this cosmic little thing, a hazy nebula glowing with comet
Speaker:strata and Helios hops for notes of citrus berries and lychee.
Speaker:The malts they use are Munich oats, two row pale and wheat.
Speaker:And, of course, the hops are comet, Eureka, Helios, Simcoe and Strata.
Speaker:It's a lot of hops. A lot of hops, 23,500 ratings gets us
Speaker:that 3.79. That's a well drank beer. I would say.
Speaker:So I've had this beer multiple times. It was a classic after work beer.
Speaker:I could see why. I mean at 8% it's a good bang
Speaker:for your buck, right. You know, it's, it's decent enough
Speaker:in, in flavor and uh, yeah, that 8% it catches up on you. Yeah.
Speaker:Especially in the 19 ounce can. Yes. And this is the 19 ounce can.
Speaker:That's, that's all they had. So I got myself a single tall boy.
Speaker:Um, the schnoz, the nose buds. I'm getting a lot of orange,
Speaker:a lot of citrus. Not getting a ton of berry or lychee.
Speaker:As we've discussed on the show before, you couldn't pay me to
Speaker:tell you what lychee tastes like? No idea. I don't like the texture.
Speaker:Lychee. Never had it. It's like what you would imagine
Speaker:an eyeball would be like, chewing through. Oh, no.
Speaker:Yeah, it's terrible texture. Well, you know what?
Speaker:Now I will never have it. Uh, so this bad boy poured with some
Speaker:nice head. It slowly dissipated. There's some decent lacing.
Speaker:My only complaint, visually, is not the world's haziest beer for
Speaker:being a hazy double. Knot, but. I can see my finger through it.
Speaker:Not perfectly, but you know, I could. I could see shadows.
Speaker:All right, here we go. It's a foggy. All right.
Speaker:This is what I imagine lychee tastes like.
Speaker:But I don't know, just from, you know, hearing it described
Speaker:on like cooking shows and stuff. but it's got some real cotton
Speaker:candy vibes to it. It's light. First of all, 8% doesn't exist.
Speaker:Well hidden. Also,
Speaker:especially this 19 ounce tallboy. Uh, why would you ever give me
Speaker:this at 18 or at 8%? Like. Woo! This should be illegal. Um, flavor.
Speaker:The mouth feels really light. The flavor is light.
Speaker:I get, like I said, these these cotton candy vibes.
Speaker:I can't fully put my finger on it. I know you think I'm nuts.
Speaker:I can see the look on your face. I only think you're nuts because I've
Speaker:had this beer a lot, and I've never thought cotton candy before look.
Speaker:Exactly like cotton candy. It just really reminds it's light and
Speaker:kind of fluffy, and it's got like, this light flavor, like cotton candy.
Speaker:There's a good chance I fucked my palate with the beer that I drank
Speaker:earlier. I'm not gonna lie, but, um. I'm enjoying it. Here's my guess.
Speaker:I think it's the lychee that I'm tasting the most, because I think
Speaker:lychee is probably a fairly lighter. It's not like orange or strawberry or
Speaker:anything like that. I don't hate it. This is, um. Fuck, man.
Speaker:If if you're looking to get hydrated and you want yourself a double IPA
Speaker:that goes down real easy, go grab yourself a cosmic little thing.
Speaker:IPA also not a bad looking can. It's got like the black and purple.
Speaker:It's so cool. Yeah, the black with the like
Speaker:the yellow and the green of the Cosmic Little Thing. Yeah.
Speaker:Oh, what a standout fucking can. Yeah, I'm. I'm here for all of it.
Speaker:So, um. I don't hate it. My, my biggest complaint is it's
Speaker:just not hazy. Okay. I mean, if it tastes fine,
Speaker:that's not the worst complaint. Yeah. It's juicy. It's not easy. Yeah.
Speaker:Well, hey, before we move forward, uh, I just want to say, uh,
Speaker:everybody I forgot. Hey, please follow us right at
Speaker:at @CraftBeerRepublic. Uh, send us a mail.
Speaker:Mail at @CraftBeerRepublic. Uh, and, uh, that's about all I
Speaker:got before we go forward. Perfect. Nailed it. Nailed it.
Speaker:As, uh, per usual. So a girl got mad at Greg for
Speaker:not liking fruit. Sort of. Now, this is maybe the weirdest
Speaker:story I'll read all day. Yeah. So, uh, I was at a brewery with the
Speaker:wife and the pup over the weekend. We were we were at an institution.
Speaker:I've talked about institution and, uh, went for a couple of beverages.
Speaker:They've got some decent food, their pizzas and salads,
Speaker:and they had a beer on the wall that I had not seen before.
Speaker:In fact, not only had I not seen it, it just didn't say anything.
Speaker:It said summer uh, IPA released 2026 or something like that.
Speaker:No description, no hops, no nothing. And then it had the percentage.
Speaker:I was like, well, that doesn't tell me shit.
Speaker:So I asked the bartender, who was super friendly.
Speaker:And I said, hey, uh, what's with the summer IPA?
Speaker:What's, what's that like? And she goes, oh, it's really good.
Speaker:Lots of tropical flavors, real juicy. And she goes,
Speaker:I think they added fruit to it. And we know how I feel about
Speaker:fruit in my IPAs. Yeah. I'm not here for it. No. I said okay.
Speaker:And I started to say, you know, like this beer instead.
Speaker:And before she goes and we also have and she named another beer,
Speaker:I forget which one. She goes, blah, blah, blah,
Speaker:this, this and that. I think this one also has fruit
Speaker:in it. And before I very nicely she was
Speaker:about to go on, I think she assumed I didn't know a lot about beer,
Speaker:which is fine. I did ask a question. She was very, very friendly,
Speaker:very much trying to help. And I just, I kind of politely, I was
Speaker:like, okay. I said, no, I'm good. Uh, I, I'm thinking maybe I'll do
Speaker:a different beer. I named a beer. She goes, oh, you don't want those?
Speaker:I said, um, Not really a fan of fruit in my beers unless it's a sour.
Speaker:And she goes, okay, is that it? Oh. She went from friendly to fuck
Speaker:you in a heartbeat. Clearly that was her favorite beer on
Speaker:the menu and I just got all over it. Oh man. I just said to her.
Speaker:I said, fruit in my IPAs is not for me.
Speaker:I didn't say they're fucking gross. I agree with you.
Speaker:And I very much said, just not for me.
Speaker:I did not say any blanket statements. Like if it's like a hazy or a, you
Speaker:know, classic West coast or whatever. Fruit additives. No thank you.
Speaker:No, I only want fruit coming from the hops.
Speaker:I just I look, I have not come across an IPA with fruit added
Speaker:to it where I thought, God damn, I want another one of these.
Speaker:Aside from a sour IPA, have you ever had one with fruit? Oh, probably.
Speaker:Man. Really racking the brain. I know I've had sour IPAs.
Speaker:I know I've had fruited sours. Have I had a fruited sour IPA.
Speaker:Fruited sour IPAs are top tier. I don't know, and I could see
Speaker:that being fun because to me, a sour IPA is more sour than IPA,
Speaker:correct? And so fine. This was not a sour IPA, and I
Speaker:just don't like fruit in my IPAs. I 100% agree with you on that.
Speaker:Thank you. And I didn't even say it's gross.
Speaker:Flat out. I just said it's not for me.
Speaker:And boy, did she get mad at me. Dang. Anyway, I just thought it was funny.
Speaker:I should bring it up. Yeah. I don't hate that.
Speaker:She probably thought I was nuts because I then ordered a fruited
Speaker:beer because it was for the wife. They had a sour on tap with
Speaker:peach in it. But you did preface that saying you
Speaker:don't like fruit in your beer unless it's a sour, right? So, you know, I.
Speaker:Think to her, I said, I don't like fruit in my IPAs.
Speaker:I didn't, I didn't, I don't think I gave her that unless
Speaker:it's a sour thing. But anyways. Sounds like she's the one with
Speaker:the problem. That's right. Well, I think it's my favorite
Speaker:time of the the show. If you want to hit the, uh,
Speaker:hit the theme song. Uh. Our flavors. Weird smell.
Speaker:Bad taste. Poop. Beer. Love it. Oh! Poop gate continues. Everybody.
Speaker:Uh, this listener says, hey, guys, I've been hearing all the bad beer
Speaker:stories and have one for you. Years ago, my wife and I were on
Speaker:vacation and stopped at this little bar by the beach.
Speaker:It was hot as hell and I ordered a beer, mostly because it came in
Speaker:one of those giant frozen mugs. Classic frozen mugs.
Speaker:Classic Beer runner. Damn it, beer shows up.
Speaker:I take a drink and it tastes awful, like an actual skunk.
Speaker:My wife could smell it from across the table.
Speaker:So naturally, I take another drink because apparently I'm an idiot.
Speaker:Hey, man. Been there? Yeah. We're all.
Speaker:We had all done the same thing. Like, are we sure it tastes like
Speaker:Band-Aids? You got that right. Go back to last week.
Speaker:I'd tell the waitress, I think the beer is bad,
Speaker:and she smells it and goes, oh, yeah, that's not good.
Speaker:Then tells me the kegs sit outside behind the building.
Speaker:Whoa! In the sun. It was probably 95 degrees outside.
Speaker:This is only acceptable in Alaska. I was gonna say.
Speaker:You want to know where it's not good to store your kegs out?
Speaker:95 degrees, sun. I'm just gonna. Say. Yeah.
Speaker:She got me a bottle of something else. That was fine.
Speaker:I still don't remember how they were serving draft beer out of
Speaker:kegs that were basically being slow cooked behind the restaurant.
Speaker:Anyway. That's mine. Nothing tasted like poop,
Speaker:so I guess I got lucky. Question mark. Cheers from Dan.
Speaker:Thanks, Dan. Yeah. Thanks, Dan. That sounds fucking horrible.
Speaker:Why would anybody tell somebody that? Yeah.
Speaker:If I was that bartender or waitress or whatever it was, I'd be like,
Speaker:oh, yeah, sorry about that. Maybe it's a bad like I wouldn't
Speaker:be like, yeah, the fucking order leaves him out back in the sun. Yeah.
Speaker:We fill everything and just toss it up back.
Speaker:It gets to like 60 at night, so that's fine. Yeah.
Speaker:So you get here at like, you know, nine in the morning. They're cool.
Speaker:Yeah. That's not cold, but cool. Yeah. That's fucking weird.
Speaker:Just, uh, this has to be a different country. Do you think so?
Speaker:I mean, you know, other a lot of European countries drink warm beer.
Speaker:Maybe this feels not American. Okay, I guess I've only been to
Speaker:Mexico before, so I'll trust you as you've been elsewhere. I.
Speaker:Well, yeah. You know what's funny? Thank God, in Portugal and Spain,
Speaker:that's my only European countries very much about cold beer.
Speaker:The wife, though the wife lived in England for a year.
Speaker:And they'll give you a warm pint, let me tell you.
Speaker:Not looking forward to that trip. Really? Yeah. Okay.
Speaker:I guess the only thing I understand there is the first
Speaker:ever distillery tour I went on. They always said you drink your
Speaker:spirits. They didn't say beer. They said spirits at room
Speaker:temperature. And that's where you get the best
Speaker:flavor out of them. That makes sense. That's if it's room temp,
Speaker:you're getting the actual flavor correct? Yeah.
Speaker:So maybe that's the idea with the warm beers. Yeah, probably.
Speaker:Question mark like. Dan. Yeah. I think part of like American
Speaker:beer being cold is, you know, we've had shitty Budweiser and
Speaker:all those things forever. It's like, you got to make them
Speaker:cold so you don't taste what they actually taste like. Sure.
Speaker:Anyway, I can't, I can't admit fresh Budweiser is pretty solid,
Speaker:though. I hate to admit it. I hate to admit it to.
Speaker:Beechwood aging process. I was gonna say that beechwood aging
Speaker:process just really fucking gets it. You know, it takes 30 days.
Speaker:But do you lager your beers? Know we beechwood age them.
Speaker:Know we Beechwood age them. Yeah. That's maybe one of my favorite
Speaker:episodes. Um, I just,
Speaker:I wish you would go to Saint Louis just to go on that fucking tour.
Speaker:Can you and I go together? Like that would be the best.
Speaker:We may be removed. And not get our one free beer.
Speaker:Come on, Greg. Might be worth it if we get removed.
Speaker:I will buy you a beer elsewhere. Oh my gosh, I would.
Speaker:I would pay to go there with you. That would be hilarious.
Speaker:That would be amazing. I'm sorry. Miss.
Speaker:Miss, any chance you do some Lagerville around here? No. We.
Speaker:Beachwood age. We strictly Beachwood aging, sir.
Speaker:Do you go to the beach to find the wood? Yeah. What the.
Speaker:I don't even know. I've never even heard of Beachwood.
Speaker:I don't. Know. It's a type of wood. I figured that much.
Speaker:Anyways, they recycle it. I know that. Glad to hear. It. Yes.
Speaker:You know what? We don't recycle. What's that? My beers. Oh.
Speaker:In a world where craft beer is king, a world where muscles are bigger
Speaker:than growlers, only one tongue can guide us.
Speaker:One man, one tongue, one Tongue-jobber.
Speaker:In this world, we must find out what is Flex drinking?
Speaker:I gotta warm the whole body up for this one. Oof!
Speaker:So I took my kids to the beer store. Classic Flex. Classic Flex.
Speaker:My favorite. And so what I didn't realize is
Speaker:until about, I don't know, like six minutes ago,
Speaker:I was thinking about this while you were talking And when I went to the
Speaker:store to like, I didn't even look at the shelf like my ten year old
Speaker:just starts taking cans off the shelf and is handing them to me.
Speaker:And the first one she hands me, it's got this little orange
Speaker:creamsicle monster on it. Oh, I like these guys.
Speaker:Yeah, one's got an eye patch. You know, they're they're like
Speaker:Siamese twins cause it's like a creamsicle, you know, like the two
Speaker:popsicles stuck together, right? And there's, like, scouring,
Speaker:and one's got, like, blood on the mouth and it's holding a scythe and.
Speaker:Yeah. And then they got some ants. There's ants firing a cannon at it.
Speaker:Where? The ants. Right there. There they are. Oh, yeah.
Speaker:And, uh, I just was like, wow, this is a great can.
Speaker:It's More Brewing company who have had quite a few times on
Speaker:the show now. Mhm. And they do a remarkable job at
Speaker:the milkshake style IPAs. And this with the creamsicle on it
Speaker:is an orange cream, double marbles is the marbles is the series,
Speaker:and it is a milkshake style double IPA with orange and vanilla. Nice.
Speaker:I would say that's like the most classic milkshake IPA. Sure.
Speaker:Which isn't a favorite style amongst most.
Speaker:And as you were just saying, you don't like fruit in your IPAs,
Speaker:I had to make sure that we said, IPA hazy West coast.
Speaker:I do not like fruit in my hazy or west coast. You bring in a milkshake?
Speaker:Yes. Give me the fruit. Give me the lactose.
Speaker:Give me the vanilla. Okay. Sour IPA, give me the fruit. Big fan.
Speaker:So I thought that was kind of like a that was a touchy area. Mhm.
Speaker:Especially with the beer I was gonna have.
Speaker:So I just wanted to clear the air. Fair. If I could.
Speaker:So this one, this is another eight percenter for me.
Speaker:Had one last week, got one this week, 3000 check ins on this one.
Speaker:This is uh, must be a reoccurring 414. Okay.
Speaker:On the cumulative and amongst my two friends a three four or I'm sorry,
Speaker:a four, three 8 or 3 eight. So untapped reads the double
Speaker:version of our popular Orange Creamsicle inspired milkshake IPA
Speaker:with Amarillo Citra Hops milk sugar with a boost of fresh, sweet
Speaker:oranges and creamy vanilla. Mhm. So I'm gonna tell you on the nose,
Speaker:on the old nose buds here, Greg, it is straight up orange vanilla
Speaker:from concentrate. Oh, that doesn't sound great.
Speaker:Oh, really? Did you not grow up with concentrate?
Speaker:I did. Orange juice. Oh. That's all we had. Oh, man.
Speaker:You could just, like, drink that shit right out of the
Speaker:frozen can. It was so good. Um. So strong. It was so good.
Speaker:But what gets me on this one is the color is. It is like actually orange.
Speaker:It looks like concentrated orange juice. It really does, doesn't it?
Speaker:It does. Which made me even more intrigued
Speaker:to take a sip out of this one. So as we will warm up the
Speaker:Tongue-jobber that is already warm and we'll dive in here.
Speaker:So it's low carbonation and then it's 100% orange and vanilla.
Speaker:This is a dessert in a can that's now in a glass because I
Speaker:poured it out of a can. This is just maybe top two milkshake
Speaker:IPAs I've ever had. Damn big words. These guys at More Brewing in
Speaker:Illinois hate the Cubs. What's up? Love. Illinois beer. Fuck the Cubs.
Speaker:Yeah, it's it's a it's a love hate relationship.
Speaker:Hate the Cubs. Love their beer. Uh, but but yeah, this is,
Speaker:I mean, everything you would think of fucking Orange Milkshake
Speaker:IPA would be from here. And, uh, they just hit it right
Speaker:on the head. Okay. So here's some more for giving this,
Speaker:uh, dessert beer to. Cheers to more. He wants damn some more. That's good.
Speaker:I lost myself in my words. Greg. You. You're like a fucking Michelangelo
Speaker:of words. The Ninja turtle, or. Uh, like the painter that. Okay?
Speaker:Hey, you know, I'm getting my tattoo this weekend.
Speaker:This upcoming weekend? I didn't know. Speaking of Michelangelo.
Speaker:The last time you talked to me, things were all because of
Speaker:scheduling. Yes, it was worked out. Oh. I'm excited. I'm very excited.
Speaker:The next time we talk, I will be a tattooed individual.
Speaker:Now you have. You have to. You have two weeks to find a
Speaker:Ninja Turtle beer. Oh, shit. Somebody help me!
Speaker:Gotta find a Ninja Turtle beer. Company in California.
Speaker:Post your tattoo with the beer. I don't know if you post anymore.
Speaker:I don't go on Instagram. Uh, few and far between. But yeah.
Speaker:That's just because I'm lazy. Yeah. Well, then at least just send me
Speaker:the picture. Okay. I'd appreciate that. You know what?
Speaker:I think it's time for some booze. I think you're right.
Speaker:I thought that was kind of good with the nudes. Um.
Speaker:All right, what do we got here? This name just hurts my mouth.
Speaker:June. Shine. That is June. Shine to shudder tasting rooms.
Speaker:Oh, no! Damn it! It's brilliant writing,
Speaker:everybody. Thank you. Shine will close its Santa
Speaker:Monica and Scripps Ranch tasting rooms on August 28th.
Speaker:The company shared on Monday. The company line.
Speaker:This was certainly not a decision that came easy,
Speaker:but the right one for what's next. Fact is, our tasting rooms helped
Speaker:build this brand. Sounds weird. Zonshine reassured its customers
Speaker:that the brand, quote unquote, isn't going anywhere and will still
Speaker:be available on shelves and in bars. That's too bad. I mean, hooray!
Speaker:Have you ever had a hard kombucha? I tell you what,
Speaker:I've had regular kombucha. And it was enough to make me not
Speaker:want any kind of kombucha. I've never had regular.
Speaker:Is that what that is? Yeah. It's hard kombucha. I've only had.
Speaker:I've only had hard kombucha. And I only had it one time.
Speaker:In fact, this was the first time I ever hung out with intern Brian.
Speaker:We were pouring together for a brewery at a beer festival.
Speaker:It's him and I and the booth behind us was. It was not.
Speaker:I don't think it was June Shine. I think it was a different one,
Speaker:but it was hard kombucha. And we started making friends with
Speaker:the people behind us and talking, hey, what you got?
Speaker:What do we got? Blah, blah, blah. And so when it got slow,
Speaker:we'd we'd be talking shit with them. And it was a fun time.
Speaker:And at one point the, the girls came over like, hey,
Speaker:can we have some of your beer? And I was like, yeah, of course,
Speaker:have as much beer as you want. It's not mine.
Speaker:And, uh, they're like, do you want to try ours?
Speaker:And I was like, you know what? I've never had it before.
Speaker:Let's give it a shot. Fucking garbage. It was so bad.
Speaker:Oh, it's it's like vinegar. It was oh, I don't even honestly,
Speaker:this is pre Covid. It's been years. I don't even remember exactly
Speaker:what it tasted. Maybe interim Brian does if you
Speaker:remember, please, you know, text me or something.
Speaker:But I just remember it being awful. And the girls came over again and
Speaker:again and again and they're like, hey, can we get some more beer?
Speaker:I'm like, you girls are welcome to as much beer as you'd like.
Speaker:Like, yeah, you can have as much kombucha.
Speaker:I was like, we don't need to trade. Damn it. Just enjoy your beer.
Speaker:They probably wanted the beer so bad because they knew it tasted like
Speaker:shit. Yeah. They weren't dummies. They didn't work for the I don't
Speaker:know. You don't call it a brewery? The kombucha. Fuck if I know.
Speaker:So we made friends with the girls. They were great.
Speaker:And they enjoyed our beer much more than they enjoyed their own product.
Speaker:Well, good. Yeah, that's how it should be.
Speaker:If you have any hard kombucha, please don't send it our way.
Speaker:Oh my God. Yeah. My address is 69. 69. Your mom's house drive. Classic.
Speaker:Uh, and ironically, that's mine too. Oh, wow. Just different cities.
Speaker:Same address, different cities. Pretty good.
Speaker:Boston beer adds apple spice ale. Oh, why?
Speaker:Okay, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte doesn't return until August 26th,
Speaker:but Boston Beer's fall lineup is already showing up on shelves.
Speaker:I did see the Octoberfest today. Oh, I'm okay with that one.
Speaker:Core fall releases. Samuel Adams Pumpkin Ale,
Speaker:which I'm not a fan of. And Dogfish Head Pumpkin Ale were
Speaker:stocked at a world market in Iowa over the weekend, but they're not
Speaker:the only fall beers on the way. Boston is joining into the Apple
Speaker:Fight with Apple Spice Ale, 5% ABV, joining its Fall Legends variety
Speaker:pack a Non-alc Octoberfest. Interesting is also arriving in
Speaker:time for Octoberfest season. Both are nationwide releases.
Speaker:Not gonna lie. Out of scientific purposes.
Speaker:I know where this is going. I might try this Apple spice beer.
Speaker:Oh, I thought you were gonna say the n a Octoberfest.
Speaker:I knew you were thinking. That's what I was gonna say.
Speaker:That's what I was thinking. You were gonna say.
Speaker:I'm intrigued on this. Wow. Okay. The first beer that I like.
Speaker:Not that I drank, but I enjoyed drinking.
Speaker:I could have sworn it was like a Leinenkugel’s apple.
Speaker:Fucking seasonal beer. Oof! It was delicious. Okay.
Speaker:And I drank a lot of it, but it it kind of ruined me for,
Speaker:like, apple flavor for a while. Yeah. So this Sam Adams apple spice,
Speaker:maybe I'll dabble to see what's up. Okay. I find a single. Yeah.
Speaker:Or if it's in a variety, even if it's in a six pack, I don't know.
Speaker:I'm sure I got five other people I can give it to. Uh, Madison.
Speaker:Brian. Pilot. Tom. Pilots, I'm sure would have it.
Speaker:Then he would probably trade me something way better just to be like,
Speaker:oh, hey, I'm such a nice guy. Right? Please.
Speaker:Thanks for this Apple garbage. Would you like this heady topper?
Speaker:And in exchange. That is classic pilot Tom.
Speaker:You know, that's what's gonna happen. You're gonna be like, here,
Speaker:this is a joke. Try this garbage ass apple beer.
Speaker:He's like, oh, that's so great. Thank you so much.
Speaker:Here's a heady topper. And the rest of the lineup from,
Speaker:uh, The Alchemist. And then when he would have the
Speaker:Apple Spice beer, he would hate it so much, but he would text me
Speaker:in such a nice way. Yeah. Thank you so much for this Apple
Speaker:spice beer. How bad it tasted. But somehow it was still good,
Speaker:even though it was so bad. Well, it's not something I'd
Speaker:probably be buying anytime soon. I really appreciate the
Speaker:opportunity to have tried it. Oh man, thank you so much.
Speaker:Such a nice guy. God damn it, Tom. Such a nice guy.
Speaker:Same with Non-Murderer John, man. Just stop being so nice. Right.
Speaker:Maybe they're like, I don't know. Just. You think they're.
Speaker:The same person? Maybe. Have you ever seen him in the same
Speaker:place at the same time? I never have. Exactly. That's fucking wild.
Speaker:My mind's actually blown right now. Just saying.
Speaker:Well, in other news, I guess they're always in the headlines. Uh, Tilray.
Speaker:Wow, this is shocking. Breaking news. Tilray to cease brewing at Terrapins
Speaker:Athens facility next month. Taproom to remain open.
Speaker:Didn't they just buy them from Molson Coors or something?
Speaker:I believe they were part of that big deal last year.
Speaker:Yeah, that was relatively recent. Mhm.
Speaker:Tilray brands will shift brewing operations from Terrapin Brewing
Speaker:Company's 100 zero zero zero square foot Athens,
Speaker:Georgia based brewery to other facilities within its network
Speaker:beginning September 25th. Tilray chief corporate affairs
Speaker:officer Baron. Noronha confirmed. With robust brewing operations
Speaker:across the country, this transition allows us to continue
Speaker:serving customers efficiently while leveraging the scale and capabilities
Speaker:of our broader brewery footprint. Terrapins taproom,
Speaker:Warehouse and Repack operations will remain open and continue serving
Speaker:customers from current location. Okay,
Speaker:so they're just ceasing the brewery operations but still doing the beer.
Speaker:Yeah, they're not going to brew at the brewery. This is I'm surprised.
Speaker:So Terrapin, I mean, Terrapin is kind of like Sierra Nevada in the
Speaker:way that they were one of the OGs. They've been around forever.
Speaker:Um, they sold to most of their stuff is good. Their stuff is good.
Speaker:They sold to Molson Coors. I interviewed one of the co-founders,
Speaker:John Cochran, on the show. He then founded Up Country, which
Speaker:he has since divested in and is, I think I believe he's retired.
Speaker:I'm looking at it right now. That was batch 156.
Speaker:If you want to hear about John, uh, and up country and Terrapin,
Speaker:but at the time, his co-founder was still at Terrapin, even though
Speaker:they were owned by Molson Coors and he was still doing the brewing.
Speaker:So I don't know what this means for like the co-founder and everyone,
Speaker:you know, the brewing team and everyone, it's kind of shitty.
Speaker:I mean, Tremens been one of the OGs in the business.
Speaker:Well, man, what a fucking beer. Yeah, I've not had a lot of Terrapin
Speaker:because it doesn't make its way west, but I've had a couple and I've
Speaker:enjoyed them. The Hop Executioner. I think that's one of the ones I had
Speaker:hops cuz. That one's super heavy. I would say it's like 200 IBUs.
Speaker:But yeah, it was old school. Yeah. It's solid.
Speaker:I think I got that from Tavour or something. You gross.
Speaker:It's probably, you know, three years old by the time I got it.
Speaker:He's still around. That's crazy. No, but they were five years ago.
Speaker:All right, well, we'll end it on this one, okay?
Speaker:Drunk man fights bouncer at Crazy Horse in Brook Park.
Speaker:I don't know about Brook Park, but Crazy Horse in Vegas is a strip
Speaker:club. Um, the Neil Young song. I think that's all.
Speaker:Isn't that wild horses? Isn't that Chris Stapleton?
Speaker:I don't fucking know. I don't know either.
Speaker:I don't know, Crazy Horse. Whatever. We clearly don't know.
Speaker:Doesn't surprise me, though, that it's Ohio.
Speaker:Uh, Brook Park, Ohio, an intoxicated North Ridgeville man, 44,
Speaker:fought a bouncer at about midnight, July 24th at Crazy Horse.
Speaker:Bouncers at Crazy Horse said the man was drunk when he arrived
Speaker:with a friend. 22. Interesting. Uh, from East Cleveland. You're 44.
Speaker:You're hanging out with a 22 year old. So what exactly? Half your age?
Speaker:That is interesting in itself. And creepy.
Speaker:The man and his friend were turned away because they were unable to
Speaker:provide identification cards. The man refused to leave Crazy Horse,
Speaker:so one of the bouncers escorted him outside.
Speaker:The man spit and swung his fist at the bouncer.
Speaker:One thing you don't do, you don't spit. That's when I start throwing.
Speaker:That's disrespectful. The bouncer then punched the man
Speaker:in the head as he should. Right? The man fell to the ground and
Speaker:sustained a small cut on his head. Should have been a bigger cut, right?
Speaker:The man's friend then grabbed the man's wallet and stole it.
Speaker:I'd argue not a friend. I'm assuming he just met this guy.
Speaker:Police spoke to the man who admitted that he was drunk and
Speaker:had entered into an altercation with the Crazy Horse bouncer.
Speaker:He didn't remember spitting at the bouncer or swinging at him.
Speaker:Police then contacted the man's friend, who admitted that he had
Speaker:picked up the man's wallet after the fight with the bouncer.
Speaker:He returned the wallet. No one wanted to pursue charges
Speaker:against anyone else. He returned the wallet much lighter.
Speaker:That is. That is bizarre. I believe two weeks ago you said
Speaker:you were looking forward to going to Cleveland next year.
Speaker:You know, you got me in a box. That's me in a box.
Speaker:Boop boop boop boop. Um. I don't know.
Speaker:I'd still go to Cleveland. All right. Don't go to the Crazy Horse.
Speaker:The crazy horse? Yeah. Also, I wonder if it's a bar or
Speaker:if it's a strip club. I guess I could have looked that up,
Speaker:huh? Yeah. Let's see. I feel like we had a horse strip
Speaker:club here. Maybe it's not a horse. Can't remember. All right.
Speaker:I typed in the Crazy Horse. Cleveland.
Speaker:The first thing that pops up is Crazy Horse cabaret. Okay. Classic.
Speaker:Oh, there's another one just called Crazy Horse Cleveland.
Speaker:I bet it's that one. Okay. Damn. Say, cabaret.
Speaker:What a classy way to call the strip club. Right? Our ladies are so hot.
Speaker:They don't actually show skin. They leave their bras on.
Speaker:Classic, Cleveland. Do you guys have weird strip
Speaker:club rules in. In Wisconsin? Like in California?
Speaker:If you serve alcohol, you can't be fully nude. Oh, I guess I don't know.
Speaker:And so, like, if you're the bartender. Well, just.
Speaker:No, no, no, not not like the establishment.
Speaker:So the establishment serves alcohol. The ladies dancing are not allowed to
Speaker:be fully nude. Fully nude. Right. I, I think they can show boobies.
Speaker:So I don't remember. All of the strip clubs.
Speaker:I would say in southeastern Wisconsin are topless.
Speaker:There are, I think, 1 or 2 in the state that are full frontal.
Speaker:Um, I've never been, but I think that's a thing. Okay.
Speaker:Like I first of all, I, I have not been to a strip club,
Speaker:I think since I was like 22 in Vegas. You know,
Speaker:you do whatever you want to get drunk and see full frontal have at it.
Speaker:But out here, it's like if you want to get drunk,
Speaker:nothing on the lower half. Yes. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker:that's pretty normal here. Boobies only that's pretty normal
Speaker:here. Okay. I just think it's funny. It's like you can see me sorta
Speaker:naked cause you're. Drunk 98% naked. Right? What?
Speaker:What if this person is a boob person, and now all they want to see is
Speaker:boobs? That's what gets them off. You know,
Speaker:it's it's just a weird thing. It's a it's one of those weird
Speaker:laws that I'm sure there was a reason for at the time, but.
Speaker:I don't know what the I don't know, That's a weird law. It's weird.
Speaker:I guess I'd have to look that up in Wisconsin. But not a strip club show.
Speaker:Not a strip club show. But I think that's all we got.
Speaker:I think we'll hit some music. Mhm. Say hi to Vanessa. Hi, Vanessa.
Speaker:Hello, Vanessa. We'll say. Hey. Thanks, guys, for listening.
Speaker:Hope you're following us on @CraftBeerRepublic.
Speaker:Send us some mail at mail at @CraftBeerRepublic dot com.
Speaker:Uh, got a drunk story or another story? 805538. Beer.
Speaker:Tell us some funny shit. We want to hear it. Please.
Speaker:Um, I think that's it. I think that's all we got.
Speaker:Hope you guys are staying very well hydrated out there. And on that note.
Speaker:Good night everybody.
