Hey folks.
2
:Welcome back to another edition
of the Daily Bible Podcast.
3
:Hello and happy Saturday.
4
:Happy Saturday.
5
:Yeah.
6
:Yeah.
7
:I hope you take the day off since
you've been working all week.
8
:Working hard all week long.
9
:Yeah.
10
:My kids were supposed to have my boys
were baseball evaluations today and they
11
:canceled those 'cause it's, I think it's
still supposed to be pretty cold today.
12
:Not freezing necessarily, but still
pretty cold that, and it's probably
13
:pretty slushy too, if it is melting mud
and all sorts of nasty things out there.
14
:Yeah, that's true, that's true.
15
:But our plan is to be in person tomorrow
for church, so we're excited to be back.
16
:Yeah, I think we talked about it
yesterday, how much we've appreciated the,
17
:this time at home and time with family.
18
:I did not appreciate not being
together as a church family last
19
:Sunday though, so I'm excited to
be back with everybody this week.
20
:You know, I would agree with that, but
I also enjoyed that there's something
21
:special about being home with the fam.
22
:And we watched the sermon, we
watched Pastor Mark on his his
23
:video, which my kids were thrilled
when they saw the background.
24
:Everybody was asking, is that real?
25
:And so I texted Pastor Mark, if you
know what the video is, you saw it.
26
:I think it became pretty evident
pretty soon that it was real,
27
:because you could see the.
28
:The fog from his breath as he was teaching
and notably absent was any fog from
29
:Pastor PJ's breath as he was teaching.
30
:It didn't seem like you cared
as much as Pastor Mark did,
31
:but pastor Mark's was fun.
32
:The kids loved it, and we watched
yours of course, together as a family.
33
:And so it was cool.
34
:It's not church, it's not the
same thing, but I did find it
35
:to be better than I expected.
36
:Yeah.
37
:That's fair.
38
:That's fair.
39
:Well, tomorrow, hopefully you're
planning to be with us because if
40
:you are there tomorrow Oh yeah.
41
:You're going to be there.
42
:Yeah.
43
:Well that's good.
44
:That's good.
45
:You're gonna get some swag
to take home with you.
46
:And so if you show up to church and
you're like, oh, man, you know what?
47
:I'm kind of cold.
48
:We got you covered literally because
we have a brand new sweatshirt
49
:for you that says on the front.
50
:In fact, if you watch the sermon
from last week you saw it.
51
:I was wearing it.
52
:It says, to live is Christ on
the back says to die is gain.
53
:It's got our church name on
the side of the arm there.
54
:And so we want to give this to you
because we want you to wear it.
55
:We want you to wear it.
56
:We want you to represent our church.
57
:We want you to represent Christ.
58
:Mm-hmm.
59
:And so these are gonna be our gift to you.
60
:We've got a initial run done.
61
:Now, pastor Rod, I.
62
:And you know me, I'm always quick to say
that I was wrong on something, right?
63
:I'm never stubborn about anything.
64
:So never ever have I ever known you
to be stubborn about anything, bro.
65
:Just straight up like putty,
putty in my hand, melted in
66
:keeping, I put in the microwave.
67
:And it's even more flexible like
that all the time, in keeping with
68
:that that characteristic of who I am.
69
:Man, people are saying for the next
run of these sweatshirts or the
70
:next slide that we do, you know,
what they were saying would be
71
:really cool, is a black sweatshirt.
72
:Oh, interesting.
73
:Cool.
74
:So I'm not gonna say that you were the
one that suggested the black one, but
75
:it may have been that and I may have
picked the green one out, but it wasn't.
76
:It just, yeah so there you go.
77
:So there are people that are saying,
Hey, a black one would be really cool,
78
:so maybe the next run will be in black.
79
:I'll tell you what the genesis of
this whole thing, and this is why
80
:Green makes sense to back you up here.
81
:The genesis of this sweater was
that we wanted to give you an easy
82
:on-ramp to talk to your neighbors,
talk to your friends about Christ.
83
:Sure.
84
:We slapped our church sticker on it.
85
:We want people to know that you
belong to Compass, but we also
86
:want people to know that more
importantly, you belong to Christ.
87
:Mm-hmm.
88
:So to live his Christ to die
as gain is a really great.
89
:Everyday kind of thing that you could say.
90
:And it's peaks, it peaks the
interest enough for people to
91
:say, what do you mean by that?
92
:Or I remember one of my students
who had their sweater on it was
93
:something very similar to this.
94
:They were standing in line somewhere
and someone saw the back of
95
:it, which said, to die is game.
96
:And they said to her, are you okay?
97
:Do you need counseling?
98
:Do, can we talk?
99
:And she says, no, look at the front of it.
100
:And then he realized,
oh, you're a Christian.
101
:You're one of those people.
102
:And so it starts a conversation.
103
:It'll be a fun thing for you to wear.
104
:It'll look good.
105
:It'll feel good.
106
:What a great thing for you to do,
and we'd be happy to print off
107
:more of these if you'll wear them
and get yourself in the community.
108
:Maybe for the summer we'll make some
sleeveless workout gear with the
109
:same thing on the front and back.
110
:Who knows what we got cooking.
111
:Yeah.
112
:Yeah, exactly.
113
:If they create good conversations
for you, good gospel
114
:conversations, praise God for that.
115
:And then the other thing
too is let us know.
116
:We would love to hear that.
117
:We'd love to hear, Hey, I
was wearing my sweatshirt.
118
:Somebody asked me about it.
119
:And so I got to share Christ with 'em.
120
:We just talked about that.
121
:In fact, last Sunday is the importance
of that, that being our mission.
122
:That's what we're here to do.
123
:So, that's part of the reason why
we wanna provide these sweatshirts.
124
:So be there tomorrow
to get your sweatshirt.
125
:And we have 'em down through size small.
126
:So if you got really little ones these,
this is more of a run for our, probably
127
:our, true north ministry on up because
it's more geared towards the adult
128
:sizes than it is anything younger.
129
:If you want swag for your kiddos,
maybe talk to the pastor, mark in
130
:in Ally about that and see what they
might be able to come up with there.
131
:But.
132
:Hey.
133
:Hey.
134
:Kidman is making so much swag.
135
:They are.
136
:I don't think we could if they,
if we're encouraging them.
137
:They're already made, they've
already made 15 things.
138
:I'm gu I guarantee you that's true.
139
:Take that back.
140
:I'll be out this weekend.
141
:I take that back.
142
:You don't need any more stuff
for your kids, so, enough.
143
:No.
144
:Well, hey, let's jump into
our David Bible reading.
145
:We are in Exodus 25 and 26, and then
we are gonna be in Matthew for the
146
:triumphal entry in Matthew chapter 21.
147
:Chapter 25, we get into starting to talk
about the construction of the tabernacle.
148
:The tabernacle is different
from the temple, which I don't
149
:wanna take that for granted.
150
:This is not the permanent
dwelling place of God.
151
:That's why it is a tabernacle, which is
the word for or the concept of this tent.
152
:It's a temporal dwelling place.
153
:And so this is going to be
where God is gonna meet with his
154
:people throughout the wilderness.
155
:Wanderings the 40 years of
wilderness wanderings, and really a.
156
:Up until the temple is gonna be built
by Solomon, the Ark is even gonna
157
:reside in Jerusalem in a tent itself.
158
:So, this is gonna be God's dwelling place
and this is why he cares so much about it.
159
:He's gonna go through in chapter 25, all
of these different instructions for the.
160
:Furniture initially
here of the tabernacle.
161
:So that's gonna include
the arc of the covenant.
162
:That's gonna include the table for the
show bread to be placed upon it, and the
163
:golden lampstand to provide the light.
164
:But in chapter 25, notice verse eight,
it says, let them make me a sanctuary
165
:that I may dwell in their mist exactly
as I show you concerning the pattern of
166
:the tabernacle in all of its furniture.
167
:So you shall make.
168
:That's worth note because
if you think about.
169
:The New Testament may remind
you of a passage from Hebrews.
170
:In Hebrews chapter eight, the writer
says They serve a copy and a shadow
171
:of the heavenly things for when
Moses was about to erect the tent.
172
:That's the tabernacle.
173
:He was instructed by God.
174
:See that you make everything
according to the pattern that
175
:was shown you on the mountain.
176
:So the writer of Hebrews
is calling back to Exodus.
177
:25 9.
178
:This is what's happening.
179
:Apparently Moses is not just being
told what this should look like, but
180
:God is showing him some sort of visual
representation as he's telling them
181
:what this should look like for what
these elements should be as Moses
182
:oversees the construction of them.
183
:And one of the cool things about
this, and we're gonna see a lot of
184
:repetition in these coming chapters,
the arc of the covenant, as God shows
185
:in the pattern's, gonna be revisited
almost word for word in Chapter 37.
186
:Same thing for the table of the show,
bread and the golden lamp stand.
187
:What we're seeing here is God saying,
Moses, this is what you're going to make
188
:and here's how you're going to make it.
189
:In the coming chapters we're
going to see, and this is how
190
:Beel and a holy yeah did it.
191
:They executed almost precisely
word for word What we're gonna see
192
:here, so this is the beginning.
193
:We're gonna have a little sandwich
in between, and then we're
194
:gonna see this again later on.
195
:But these elements.
196
:The tabernacle are important because
they all represent something significant
197
:about their relationship with God.
198
:I don't know if now's a good time
for us to talk about that, or
199
:maybe you want to visit this back
in the next, the coming chapters.
200
:Yeah let's wait.
201
:Let's hit 'em in the coming chapters
as we get back to that, because
202
:it does repeat so much of it.
203
:I think it'll be helpful.
204
:We can bring some of the more
significance in that point.
205
:That's great.
206
:Let me make a plug for, I think it's
called the Tabernacle Experience.
207
:I forget if that's the precise
language, but there's several
208
:companies that kind of float around
doing a lot of the same thing.
209
:We were in California when we saw this.
210
:This was in about the San Diego area
when we were in South Orange County.
211
:We got to go to this biblical tab
Tabernacle experience where you go to
212
:a Lifesize setup of the tabernacle and
they give you these earphones to wear, or
213
:these headphones to put over your ears,
and then you take a self guided tour
214
:through what is the tabernacle, at least
what they think would be a really good
215
:artistic representation of the tabernacle.
216
:It was.
217
:So cool.
218
:Hear me on this.
219
:So cool.
220
:So worth it.
221
:So valuable.
222
:I don't even know what
the tickets cost anymore.
223
:They were probably 20 bucks a pop and
myself and my two sons went well worth it.
224
:Highly encourage you.
225
:If there's ever something like
this in your area, go do it.
226
:You'll thank me later.
227
:Yeah.
228
:It looks like there is something
called the Tabernacle Experience.
229
:The Biblical Tabernacle
experience, which seems to travel
230
:around to different churches.
231
:Yeah, that could have been it.
232
:If there's ever one in the
Texas area, well, Texas is big.
233
:If there's ever one in the
North Texas area, we oughta go.
234
:As a church.
235
:It would be so cool.
236
:Yeah, absolutely.
237
:And to Israel.
238
:Someday we should go there.
239
:Well, amen.
240
:Yeah.
241
:Yeah.
242
:Also, again, if you have the
ESV study Bible I think has a
243
:depiction of some of these things.
244
:Your logos Bible software will also be
able to provide you some visuals, even
245
:if you can just look at some of those,
it's gonna be helpful as you read this.
246
:'cause otherwise it's hard to track,
especially when you get into the
247
:construction of the tent itself, which is.
248
:Chapter 26 is all about when you get
into talking about all these different
249
:curtains and the rings of gold and the
bases of silver and the frames that are
250
:made of this wood and you've got the
goat hair, covering on the outside of it.
251
:It's easy to get lost in all of
this is what I'm trying to say.
252
:So if you have a visual representation
in front of you that you can read this
253
:and then look at the picture of it,
the artist depiction, whatever that
254
:is that's gonna be helpful for you to
to take note as you go through this.
255
:But something that always stands out to
me in chapter 26 is when he talks about
256
:the veil because the veil is always
gonna be that reminder that though God
257
:was coming to dwell with his people,
there was still gonna be separation.
258
:That it wasn't gonna be a free for
all the intimacy with Yahweh for.
259
:Old Testament, Israel is not the
same intimacy that you and I enjoy
260
:today through our relationship
with him by faith in Jesus Christ.
261
:And so there's the veil that's there,
and only the high priest is gonna
262
:be allowed to go through there.
263
:We're gonna get into the
priestly instructions later on.
264
:But this is something that
is, is even here as God is
265
:giving Moses the directions.
266
:Hey, there's going to be
separation between me and you.
267
:Yes, I'm gonna be there.
268
:But part of the whole purpose of the
tent even is to create a separation
269
:from the people to where the glory of
God is gonna really show up in earnest.
270
:So all of this, there, there's mercy
here and yet part of the mercy is in
271
:God veiling himself from the people,
lest they be consumed in their sin.
272
:And so this is part of the reason why the
structure is even needed at this point.
273
:Yeah.
274
:And what's interesting about those
curtains, the veil, is that there are
275
:Cher Beam skillfully worked in them.
276
:Now, if you remember the Cher Beam
show up first in Genesis chapter three,
277
:where that Cher beam had a sword,
that flame with fire, and kept Adam
278
:and Eve from partaking of the tree of
life after having fallen in the sin.
279
:And so what you see here, again,
I'm hinting at the symbolism, is
280
:that everything in the tabernacle
is meant to say something about
281
:God's dwelling with man and.
282
:And part of it is the access isn't
free the way that it used to be.
283
:There is a way to access God that
is prescribed and descriptive.
284
:You can't show up any way you want.
285
:You can't show up any time you want.
286
:There is a prescribed way, and even today
we can see that when we show up to God.
287
:You can't show up any way that you want.
288
:You can't say, well, I prefer
Buddhism and I prefer Zoroastrianism.
289
:I prefer Hinduism.
290
:You have to show up through Christ.
291
:He's the only entryway that
gives you access to God.
292
:Now we don't have to worry
about the chair beam.
293
:They don't guard us anymore because
we have free and full access.
294
:See, I can't help myself.
295
:I can't stop.
296
:Sorry.
297
:But let me just say
that's important stuff.
298
:You gotta pay attention to that.
299
:Yeah, no, for sure.
300
:For sure.
301
:It is the other thing too, that, and I
know it was a different culture and he
302
:was in the presence of God and God was
showing him these things, but this is
303
:a lot of detail for Moses to remember.
304
:As he comes down and relates all this.
305
:God was certainly I think with him and
with his mind to be able to help him.
306
:But it often convicts me too of just
how much we have voluntarily doled our
307
:own senses to what our brains should
be capable of being able to do and
308
:retain and understand and memorize.
309
:And for as much as I, I love the resources
that I have on my phone, my Todoist and
310
:my Notes app and everything else like
that I can't help but think, man I've.
311
:Exported a lot of the ways that I
can glorify God with my brain and
312
:my men mental abilities to these
apps and things that, that we've
313
:been given to help remember things.
314
:What a great point.
315
:I hadn't considered that
Moses had to retain all this
316
:in some way, shape, or form.
317
:Now, the easy thing that we could say
is, well, of course God en enabled
318
:him to do that, and that's certainly
true, but your point is well taken
319
:and we should feel the weight of it.
320
:I wonder if suddenly everything
disappeared, our internet and our phones.
321
:If our memory and our focus and
our ability to think would not
322
:improve, I'd be hard pressed to say
that wouldn't be a natural result.
323
:And in fact, there are people who.
324
:Encourage you to pretend like
that is in fact the case.
325
:Now, I think about one named Cal Newport,
who is a he's a college professor.
326
:He's written several books about the
deep life, which is a reference to
327
:what he would say is some of your best
hours of the day spent thinking and
328
:doing deep deep and difficult work.
329
:And so he talks often about not
using your phone as a distraction
330
:tool and not using, he, he doesn't
even suggest using any social media.
331
:Now, but you're right, we probably
have sacrificed much to our modern
332
:day sensibilities where we might
otherwise be better off if we
333
:abstain from some of these things.
334
:Yeah.
335
:Well, let's jump over to our New Testament
reading for the day, which is Matthew 21.
336
:And we get the triumphal entry.
337
:This is recorded here.
338
:It's recorded also in some
other of the gospels as well.
339
:I know John records it.
340
:I believe Luke records it.
341
:Is it present in all?
342
:Does Mark record it?
343
:I can't recall if Mark does have
a recording of the triumph entry.
344
:But.
345
:This is the moment.
346
:This is the launch of what
we know as the passion week.
347
:This is Palm Sunday as we observe
it in the liturgical calendar.
348
:The church calendar today this is Jesus
coming into Jerusalem, and this is gonna
349
:mark the beginning of the end for his
earthly ministry because this is gonna
350
:be the Sunday before he is crucified
and and goes through everything else.
351
:And so as he comes in
there's a lot going on here.
352
:There's a lot of Old Testament
ill imagery that's happening and
353
:fulfillment that's happening.
354
:Even as he tells his followers to
go and get the donkey to fulfill
355
:Zechariah nine where that's
quoted there in, in Matthew 21 5.
356
:Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble and mounted on a donkey.
357
:On a coal, the full of a beast of burden.
358
:That was a royal mount for a king
who was coming in peace not in on a
359
:wared, but a king that was coming in,
in, in victory and coming in peace.
360
:This fulfillment here from Zechariah
nine, then you have the shout of the
361
:crowds, Hosanna to the son of David.
362
:Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.
363
:That's Psalm 1, 18 25.
364
:That's a Messianic attribution.
365
:So much so that the Pharisees later
on are going to chastise Jesus and
366
:say, you need to silence the crowds.
367
:Do you not hear what
they're saying to you?
368
:And this is when Jesus is gonna say,
yes, but have you never read out of the
369
:mouth of infants and nursing babies?
370
:You have prepared praise.
371
:And that's from Psalm eight, two.
372
:So Jesus is stepping into his
messianic identity more and more.
373
:And he's doing this because, as John
says, his hour has come now, this
374
:is the beginning of the hour of the
glorification of the Son of man.
375
:And it's gonna happen here
with the triumphal entry.
376
:So Jesus is doing a lot here, including
cleansing the temple, which I hold to
377
:be the second cleansing of the temple.
378
:I think there's two, I think there's
one at the beginning of his ministry and
379
:then one here at the end of his ministry.
380
:I know some have argued, well, it's one,
but John puts it towards the beginning
381
:and Matthew puts it towards the end.
382
:I think this is a unique one
that's distinct for Matthew.
383
:Amen to that.
384
:I would agree.
385
:O one thing I wanna point out
here is that you have both
386
:expressions of anger take place.
387
:First, you have Jesus righteous anger
when he enters the temple and he
388
:drives out all who sold and bought.
389
:He overturned tables.
390
:He said, it's written, my house
shall be called a house of prayer,
391
:but you make it to dinner robbers.
392
:Here you see a righteous expression
of anger, which on the one hand
393
:tells us that anger in and of itself.
394
:Doesn't have to be sinful.
395
:However, Jesus, of
course, is a son of man.
396
:He is a son of God, and so he's
under control not under control.
397
:He possesses control of his emotions.
398
:In ways that we probably don't know,
at least in this level of maturity, you
399
:see anger also expressed, but sinfully,
so by the Pharisees and the scribes,
400
:verse 15, chief priests and scribes say,
saw the wonderful things that he did.
401
:The children crying out
and they were indignant.
402
:They were sinfully anger, angry at Jesus.
403
:And so Jesus of course,
responds to them about that.
404
:But here you see two pictures and two
paradigms of what anger looks like.
405
:Here on the one side, you see anger
out of a righteous sense of, jealousy
406
:for God's glory, and I think also
for the access of the Gentiles into
407
:the court where they could pray.
408
:On the other hand, you have anger
born from jealousy and threat.
409
:They saw Jesus not as the coming Messiah,
but as someone who is going to upset
410
:their stability and their leadership.
411
:And so both of those pictures help us
see a little better, what anger should
412
:look like and what we ought to be warned
against, how it can express itself.
413
:Yeah, this is quite the show in, in, so
in John six, I believe it's John six,
414
:that's where the Disciple or Jesus'
brothers want him to go up to the
415
:temple with them, to the Feast of Boots.
416
:And Jesus says I'm not going
up with you at this time.
417
:And yet this is what they were looking for
is what happens at the triumphal entry.
418
:And the difference being
again, is the hour.
419
:It's when is the moment of glorification.
420
:'cause Jesus shows up, he
does all these things to step
421
:into his messianic identity.
422
:He's not hiding it anymore.
423
:And then once he gets there,
he cleanses the temple.
424
:And then he says there in verse 14
in the blind, and the lame came to
425
:him in the temple and he healed them.
426
:So he's doing all these miracles on
top of this and this is him just.
427
:He's making waves now.
428
:He's saying, okay, it's the end is coming.
429
:It's near and there's no shying
away anymore at this point.
430
:Right, and of course Jesus
because he knows his hour.
431
:This is exactly when he's gonna
reveal all of those things.
432
:It's exciting.
433
:I wish I was there to see this.
434
:You know that question.
435
:People often ask, like, if you
could be at any place in human
436
:history, when would it be?
437
:I would want to be here at
the last week of Jesus' life.
438
:I wanna see him interact with people.
439
:I wanna see what it looks like when
the religious rulers, because in
440
:our minds we, we craft a story.
441
:And this is a story.
442
:Certainly it's not less than that though.
443
:There's a lot more happening that I'm
sure Matthew, mark, and Luke and John are
444
:saying we're not telling you everything
John says as much in his gospel, but
445
:I would love to be there to smell the
smell of the air, to hear the sound of
446
:their an antagonism and their anger.
447
:I just wish I could be
there to see this all.
448
:Yeah.
449
:The rest of our section verses 18 through
22 he, again is taking the Pharisees
450
:on head on, and he's gonna make this
statement here about the fig tree.
451
:And he's saying this, I think about
Israel's leaders when he says, may
452
:no fruit ever come from you again.
453
:And the fig tree withers at once.
454
:And so Jesus is really doing all of this.
455
:He's stepping into the conflict,
stepping into the moment.
456
:And and this is going to end ultimately
in the Pharisee saying we've gotta do it.
457
:We've got to end up taking him out.
458
:We've gotta.
459
:To kill him.
460
:Do you think it's fair, as some
have argued to say that the voices
461
:crying out, Hosanna are the same
voices that were crying out, crucify
462
:him, what, four or five days later?
463
:I don't see a distinction between
the crowd, so, maybe not May,
464
:maybe not in a technical sense.
465
:Maybe there's different people that
assemble, but I think the audience
466
:that's in view I think the gospel
writers are intending for us to see a, a.
467
:Homogenous whole.
468
:The crowd is often depicted in
my understanding in the gospels
469
:as a character that is, it's not
several people making up a crowd.
470
:It's the crowd is itself
a character in the show.
471
:And in the show the crowd is often fickle.
472
:And so I think it's the same people in
that it's meant to depict the same kind
473
:of crowd, although not necessarily the
same precise people, if that makes sense.
474
:Yeah.
475
:What would you say to that?
476
:Yeah, I would agree.
477
:I would agree.
478
:Yeah.
479
:'cause we can't.
480
:We don't have an attendance role to
be able to say yes, it was exactly
481
:the same people that were there.
482
:The at the one that
was there at the other.
483
:But I would agree with you, especially
when you consider I think we want
484
:to give people the benefit of the
doubt, but even as close as followers.
485
:Were crushed after the crucifixion.
486
:They walked away going it was all a lie.
487
:He failed, and that's what we
find out in Luke 24 with the
488
:disciple on the road to Emmaus.
489
:So I think we, we can't expect
the crowds to believe better than
490
:his closest followers believed.
491
:And so I think there's something to that.
492
:You're right, that the
fickleness of the crowds there.
493
:What would you say about verse 22?
494
:This seems to be a blank check for prayer.
495
:He says, whatever you ask in prayer,
you will receive if you have faith.
496
:This is often co-opted by false
teachers and those who proclaim a
497
:health, wealth, and prosperity gospel.
498
:But what say you, pastor pj,
can we take this to the bank and
499
:declare things on behalf of God?
500
:I think we have to read this verse
in light of the rest of the corpus
501
:of Christ teaching on prayer.
502
:And we know that's true, that if
we ask anything in his name, right?
503
:And so we have to talk about what
does it mean to ask in his name?
504
:Well, it's to ask him for his glory
and in accordance with his will.
505
:And we have to trust that the fathers
gonna give us every good thing.
506
:If you being evil, know how to give to
your children what is good, how much more
507
:will your heavenly father give to you?
508
:What is good?
509
:So when we take those things into
account, we can understand here that
510
:there are other caveats, there are
other conditions to what we pray for.
511
:Besides just saying we have to pray,
believing that we'll receive it.
512
:Well, yeah, that's part of it.
513
:But we also have to pray for the things
that are in accordance with the will of
514
:God and for the good of his glory and
in our good, in accordance with what
515
:his def definition of those things are.
516
:So I think that's what
governs our interpretation.
517
:Right.
518
:I would agree with that.
519
:There's a lot of there's a lot of
shenanigans when it comes to the way
520
:that people talk about this, especially
for those who have large platforms
521
:and they have personal private jets.
522
:But if there is a ditch
that our camp can fall into.
523
:It's not taking this seriously enough.
524
:Sure.
525
:Because we're afraid of falling
into the health, wealth, prosperity
526
:camp, and I do think that's an
error we need to avoid certainly.
527
:But on the other side, I wonder if there's
things that God wants us to exercise
528
:a certain level of faith for and say.
529
:Pray for that.
530
:Ask me for that and take it by faith.
531
:You brought up and you continue to bring
up throughout your preaching fairly
532
:regularly, the ministry of George Mueller.
533
:Mm-hmm.
534
:Who in my estimation, as I read
his biography and things that are
535
:written about him, I think, man,
he's testing God over and over again.
536
:Mm-hmm.
537
:And yet God seems to answer
that kind of testing.
538
:So I think there is a I don't know
if there's a happy medium or if
539
:I'm just, it's a fallacy of the
middle ground to think that there
540
:maybe is a middle ground between.
541
:Where we typically fall as
conservative, reformed Christians
542
:versus where Mueller is.
543
:Maybe, yeah, between Mueller and
the health wealth prosperity guys.
544
:Yeah.
545
:No, that's fair.
546
:That's fair for sure.
547
:Well, speaking of prayer, let's
do that as we wrap up this edition
548
:of the Daily Bible Podcast.
549
:God, thanks for your word and
for this time together that
550
:we were able to spend in it.
551
:We pray that we would continue to give
thought to the privilege that we have in
552
:being able to draw near to you and do what
we're doing right now to pray Lord that
553
:we have access to your presence, that we
can draw near and boldness and confidence
554
:and seek mercy and help and time of need
that even as the writer of Hebrews was
555
:unpacking so much of what we have that's
so much better than the old covenant was.
556
:And so as we even read about the
tabernacle in the coming weeks and
557
:we read about these things in the
coming days, what help us to be
558
:grateful for the closeness that we
have with you through Christ and help
559
:us to take advantage of that as well.
560
:I think if we went back and explained
to some of the Old Testament saints
561
:the axis that we have and then they
were to look at our lives, I wonder
562
:if they would be aghast at how
little we take advantage of that.
563
:And so help us learn to live faithfully.
564
:And to seek you as much as we possibly
can to do as Paul says, to pray without
565
:ceasing, to live constantly dependent
upon you, and knowing that we can come
566
:into your presence at the drop of a hat.
567
:So we thank you for what a
glorious reality that is.
568
:Pray that we would live as such
that are using that and living in
569
:a way that, that honors Christ.
570
:We pray this in Jesus' name.
571
:Amen.
572
:Hey guys, keep on going.
