Did you know that water damage does way more damage to the American home than fire?

There is an easy fix out there.
Speaker B:
So we sit down with Ian Green from flowlogic.
Speaker C:
Yeah, I mean definitely any of those types of leaks that are coming from the supply side are typically going to cause abnormal continuous flow logic system.
Speaker C:
Logic's been doing this for over 20 years.
Speaker C:
We're the first brand of flow based leak detection, a sixth generation product today.
Speaker C:
And our system could see real time flow from the moment it begins, as small as a half an ounce per minute.
Speaker C:
So that's like a drip level leak, which is how most of those leaks in a supply line to an ice maker as you mentioned, that's most how most of them began.
Speaker C:
So we'll see it from the moment it starts and at the very second that gets to be too long based on the parameters, it gets shut off automatically.
Speaker C:
Then adding another level of sort of suspenders along with the belt suspenders approach would be adding what we have are called pinpoint sensors.
Speaker C:
Other there's other brands out there too that are just basically looking for water, whether it's not supposed to be water.
Speaker C:
And you can set these in high risk areas like behind refrigerators and in the laundry room or near the water heater.
Speaker C:
And so if water contacts this sensor, it's going to trigger a shut off and alert immediately, immediately.
Speaker C:
So you can have immediate.
Speaker C:
So if this story you told about the washing machine hose that popped off, if they'd add a sensor there even if they were in the home Mode with a 40 minute flow allowance.
Speaker B:
In the second hour of the show, Eric G talks about getting that fall prep started with the kids getting ready to get back to school soon and the fall sports starting.
Speaker B:
There are some of these projects you can do now while the weather is great and take some of that load off your busy fall schedule.
Speaker D:
And here's where the problems occur.
Speaker D:
One of them is that connection between the deck and the house.
Speaker D:
If that is not flashed correctly, especially on higher decks, anything over about 24 inches, that is where the biggest strength part of that is and that is where that can pull off the house.
Speaker D:
Some DIY deck builders will take 16 penny nails with their nail gun, they'll shoot it in, call it good, but they miss the flashing, the counter flashing, the metal flashing, the flex flashing, all the things that you need to do to build that correctly.
Speaker D:
And there's a lot of different ways to do it.
Speaker D:
Some people will do these little pucks where it keeps it off the house.
Speaker D:
You will see other people put it up against the house, have flashing behind it, around it, middle flashing drip edge across the front to put the water around that.
Speaker D:
There's a lot going on there so you really need to know what you're looking at and what that looks like if you see nails in there and no mechanical fasteners like lags.
