David Spoon:Hey, dealing with God, interacting with the Lord, interacting with the King of the universe, the Almighty, the king of hosts, he who is in charge of the hosts of the armies of heaven.

David Spoon:And anything the Lord's done in your life, you share that.
David Spoon:It honors the Lord, it blesses other people, it strengthens it in your own life.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a prayer request, got something going on, you need prayer.
David Spoon:Cool, let's pray.
David Spoon:And you think, why?
David Spoon:Because God answers prayers.
David Spoon:That's why.
David Spoon:And one of the reasons that we push on people, and we do push is that people will spend time with the Lord.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because that changes your life and the lives around you, the family around you, the friends around you, job situation around you.
David Spoon:It changes the lives around you.
David Spoon:Your neighbors, your city, your state, your country, the world.
David Spoon:That's why we pray.
David Spoon:Because God answers prayers.
David Spoon:Maybe you got something you just want to share.
David Spoon:You got a scripture, something's on your heart and mind.
David Spoon:Now everybody knows.
David Spoon:It's high intensity political season.
David Spoon:You got that going on for what, let's see, at least two more weeks and then we'll see how much longer after everybody thinks it's going to end in two weeks.
David Spoon:No, it's not.
David Spoon:You guys should know better than that.
David Spoon:But here's the thing, you know, who's not concerned about this and whatsoever shape God's not up there going, what's going to happen with the election?
David Spoon:That's us, not God.
David Spoon:He knows exactly what's going to happen.
David Spoon:That doesn't mean you don't participate.
David Spoon:He just knows and he's a part of it.

David Spoon:Nothing takes place in the kingdom of men that is unknown to God.

David Spoon:And guess what book we're in.
David Spoon:Whoa.
David Spoon:We're in the Book of Revelation.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:And for those that are listening for the first time, welcome aboard.
David Spoon:And we encourage you to participate and be aware that there's nothing in our structure where we teach, where you must agree with Dave, or God will give you a nose like a duck.
David Spoon:No, I'm going to present different points of view.
David Spoon:I'm going to present kind of where I lean most of the time.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:But as we study, especially the Book of Revelation, there are four prominent views.
David Spoon:And we are not saying this one, this one, this one, this one.
David Spoon:But we are examining it piece by piece.
David Spoon:I'm not asking you to change your view.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:But I am asking you to do a great favor for yourself and open up your thought process, not to bad things, but to other believers who see things a little different and stop thinking they're your enemy because they don't agree with you about everything.
David Spoon:Or else you're your enemy because you don't agree with yourself.
David Spoon:20 years ago.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:Okay, good.
David Spoon:That's fun, isn't it?
David Spoon:Revelation 1:18.
David Spoon:You can't miss this stuff.
David Spoon:This is just too.
David Spoon:It's too cool to believe.
David Spoon:So we've already covered this.
David Spoon:We've talked about Jesus.
David Spoon:We saw all the images that John saw him at.
David Spoon:And we did leave off last week talking about this, where John said, I fell at his feet as dead, but he laid his right hand on me, saying to me, do not be afraid.
David Spoon:I want you to know that I do think that phrase right there.
David Spoon:And that imagery is one of the most important imageries of Revelation, although it doesn't get taught very often because John actually drops down a few more times.
David Spoon:And what Jesus says to him is, look, don't be afraid.
David Spoon:No, you don't know what's going to happen.
David Spoon:But God does, and he's got it covered.
David Spoon:And he ain't worried.
David Spoon:And he hasn't lost the hard drive or the temporary drive of your life or anybody's life or of any country or anything going on.
David Spoon:And so you don't have to be afraid.
David Spoon:Then Jesus picks it up and says this.
David Spoon:He says, I am the first and the last.
David Spoon:I am he who lives and was dead.
David Spoon:And behold, I am alive forevermore.
David Spoon:Verse 18 gets us rolling.
David Spoon:We don't even get very far into it, where Jesus goes, look, I'm gonna tell you, I'm the first and the last.
David Spoon:What do you mean, the first and the last?
David Spoon:Jesus is the first one to die, then come back to life.
David Spoon:Hold on, to never die again.
David Spoon:Do you understand that difference?
David Spoon:In other words, Elijah raised people.
David Spoon:There were people in the Old Testament.
David Spoon:Jesus and his ministry raised people from the dead.
David Spoon:Peter and his ministry raised people from the dead.
David Spoon:Paul and his ministry people have been doing that.
David Spoon:That's been going on.
David Spoon:That's not unusual.
David Spoon:In fact, so much so that actually at one point, Herod thought John the Baptist was risen from the dead.
David Spoon:How would he think that if that never happened or was never talked about?
David Spoon:But Jesus is the first to die and resurrect, to never die again.
David Spoon:That's the key.
David Spoon:And so he says, just think about this.
David Spoon:First of all, I want to back up to giving the honor to the Lord because he deserves it.
David Spoon:He said, I am he who lives and was dead.
David Spoon:Behold, I am alive forevermore.
David Spoon:It's critical to understand the entire process Jesus went through.
David Spoon:I don't want anybody to miss this, because this process, this statement right here is his commitment and his love.
David Spoon:And see, we read the Bible and sometimes, let's be honest, we read for Speed instead of reading, to listen.
David Spoon:Isn't that funny?
David Spoon:Because it's called the Word of God.
David Spoon:So you'd think when we read it, we'd want to listen to what God has to say.
David Spoon:And by the way, when you read the Word of God and listen to what God has to say, you would know the difference then how God sounds, because you know what he sounds like in His Word.
David Spoon:And that helps you kind of differentiate along with the Holy Spirit when the Lord is or isn't speaking to you.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:Okay, cool.
David Spoon:So listen to this, he says, and we want to grasp the full level of commitment.
David Spoon:He was alive.
David Spoon:He had life.
David Spoon:He was born of the Holy Spirit and of Mary.
David Spoon:And it's a little wearisome when people.
David Spoon:He was born of the Holy Spirit and of mary.
David Spoon:Well, he's 50.
David Spoon:50.
David Spoon:He's not 50.
David Spoon:50.
David Spoon:He's 100%.
David Spoon:100%.
David Spoon:He's 200% in 100%.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:That doesn't fit with the Western ways.
David Spoon:Well, then the Western ways can grow up.
David Spoon:That's how the response is.
David Spoon:Between the Holy Spirit and Mary.
David Spoon:He merged.
David Spoon:And why is that important, folks?
David Spoon:Because he fully represents God being born of the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:And he fully represents man being born of Mary.
David Spoon:And he's the only one fully born of the Holy Spirit and fully born of Mary, and the only one that can represent God to man and man to God.
David Spoon:He is the only hint, hint.
David Spoon:No other person, woman or otherwise.
David Spoon:He is the only mediator between God and mankind because he's fully God and fully man.
David Spoon:And so in his commitment, he's born right.
David Spoon:Let's just make sure you understand.
David Spoon:He did nothing wrong.
David Spoon:What did Jesus do wrong?
David Spoon:Nothing.
David Spoon:He didn't do anything wrong.
David Spoon:Zero.
David Spoon:But yet he died.
David Spoon:And I want to point something out.
David Spoon:He didn't just taste death.
David Spoon:I want you to understand what that means in Scripture.
David Spoon:He actually ate death.
David Spoon:In other words, he died.
David Spoon:He died and he died for us.
David Spoon:He didn't have to die for him.
David Spoon:He did it for us.
David Spoon:He gave himself up for you, and he gave himself up for me.
David Spoon:And I got a teaching coming in not too far from now.
David Spoon:It's going to demonstrate that if you were the only person, he still would have died to redeem you.
David Spoon:You'll see.
David Spoon:It's amazing stuff.
David Spoon:Anyway, so Jesus tells John, look, I was dead.
David Spoon:What's the keyword?
David Spoon:There was.
David Spoon:See, these little words are really important.
David Spoon:It's a key word.
David Spoon:In other words, he was alive, then he died, but now he's alive forevermore.
David Spoon:So the person lives and then they die.
David Spoon:But at the trumpet, in our lives, we're living and we're dying, but at the trumpet, we'll be alive forevermore.
David Spoon:We're going to follow this pattern that Jesus is illustrating for us.
David Spoon:Like, cool, right?
David Spoon:And this is, again, another thing of hope.
David Spoon:We get so caught up.
David Spoon:Now, listen, I love our brother Ace, and he called and he's asking the Lord to take him.
David Spoon:And we prayed and asked the Lord to have mercy on him.
David Spoon:This is the last of.
David Spoon:I know, of yesterday.
David Spoon:He's not yet gone.
David Spoon:But the point is, it's when you get with the Lord, everything that you have ever worried about, have you ever been concerned about, have you ever even thought about and had anxiety or fear or frustration or just like, no resolution and just can't get declared, everything in your life will be gone in that capacity and you will be with God.
David Spoon:And I'm not talking about.
David Spoon:You're going to be some spheric spirit, you know, bouncing around.
David Spoon:Jesus has a resurrected body, you're getting a new body.
David Spoon:I actually have people.
David Spoon:Well, do we have glasses?
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:I would guess not.
David Spoon:I don't even know how to respond to that.
David Spoon:I don't even care.
David Spoon:I just want to be with Jesus, right?
David Spoon:And that's what we all should want.
David Spoon:And so Jesus is like, I am he who was alive and then dead, and behold, I'm alive forevermore.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:Which is like, yes, sir.
David Spoon:And then he says this, and this is the mind blower.
David Spoon:And I have the keys of Hades and death.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:I have the keys of Hades and death.
David Spoon:Now, Hades is referenced as one of many words for hell or for the world of death or for Guyana.
David Spoon:Okay, so Hades, Guyana, world of death, hell.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Some people are like, well, Jesus doesn't really talk about hell.
David Spoon:Jesus talks about the fire that never is extinguished.
David Spoon:I don't know how you can get away from that, but I guess people can try.
David Spoon:I know a lot of people try to make huge distinctions between Guyana and Hades, and they try and split these all apart.
David Spoon:But that's a big distraction to what Jesus is trying to communicate.
David Spoon:These people are dead.
David Spoon:That's the realm they're in.
David Spoon:And Jesus is like, I have the keys.
David Spoon:Just think of that.
David Spoon:I don't know if you know this or not, but I'll use this as an illustration.
David Spoon:Not the best illustration, but just bear with me.
David Spoon:When you go to a hotel in your life with your spouse or with your children, with friends, whatever the case may be, you know what they Give you.
David Spoon:They give you a key.
David Spoon:What do you use the key for?
David Spoon:To get in.
David Spoon:That's what you use the key for.
David Spoon:It's not that complex.
David Spoon:Well, Jesus has the keys, and he has the keys to all of it.
David Spoon:And you know what keys do?
David Spoon:Let me say this real quickly.
David Spoon:They lock and they unlock.
David Spoon:And in this case, you get the distinction.
David Spoon:Certainly the impression that falls upon you is people's eternities, locked or unlocked, are in the hands of Jesus.
David Spoon:He has the authority.
David Spoon:You know, the key gives you the authority, and it's what doors they go through.
David Spoon:And remember, Jesus said, I am the door.
David Spoon:He not only is the door, but he has the key.
David Spoon:Oh, my goodness.
David Spoon:Isn't this fun?
David Spoon:You gotta say, this is a ball.
David Spoon:How do you not, like, love this stuff?
David Spoon:Now the controversial stuff will begin.
David Spoon:The next part of the verse is in verse 19.
David Spoon:Verse 20 is not very as controversial.
David Spoon:We'll cover that next week.
David Spoon:But 19 says this.
David Spoon:Write the things which you have seen and the things which are and the things which will take place after this.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Everybody knows this passage.
David Spoon:Who's read the book of Revelation, by the way, Again, Revelation, the only book you can read ever.
David Spoon:Well, it's not true.
David Spoon:Ever.
David Spoon:I should.
David Spoon:Let me pull that back.
David Spoon:The book in the New Testament that says, you read me, you're blessed.
David Spoon:It doesn't say you understand everything I write.
David Spoon:It's if you read me as a book, you're blessed.
David Spoon:That's what it says.
David Spoon:So here's the key.
David Spoon:There are three major teachings on what this means.
David Spoon:And people are like, no, it's obvious.
David Spoon:It's this, this, this.
David Spoon:Slow down, Sparky.
David Spoon:Millions of Christians go to a couple different directions, hear what they have to say, stop picking on one another and listen to one another.
David Spoon:Here's what he says.
David Spoon:He says, write the things which you have seen, the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.
David Spoon:The three major views.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:The three major views.
David Spoon:Number one is, this has to do with history.
David Spoon:In other words, this code or this approach is in its nature, has to do with the chronological process of the book of Revelation.
David Spoon:So what people will say is, look, it's Revelation 1, Revelation 2 and 3.
David Spoon:And starting in Revelation 4, you really pick it up.
David Spoon:And the things that he's seen.
David Spoon:This is the things that have taken place with John.
David Spoon:And then now we're going to pick it up in four.
David Spoon:And all of these things are the historical chronological process of the book.
David Spoon:So that's an argument for chronological approach to the book of Revelation.
David Spoon:It's not a bad argument.
David Spoon:It's not a weak argument.
David Spoon:It's just a position that some people take.
David Spoon:They see that revelation 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 20, 22 are just progressionary in one direction.
David Spoon:So what they're saying is, look, I want you to write down what you've seen.
David Spoon:I'm gonna write down what I'm about to show you, and then you're gonna write down what I'm gonna show you.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Got that.
David Spoon:Another point of view which should not be ignored or responded to in a negative way is this is the formula for the Book of Revelation.
David Spoon:And this formula operates throughout the Book of Revelation.
David Spoon:In other words, some people believe that there's the beginning, the middle and the end, but that happens multiple times.
David Spoon:So they see breaks in at the end of seven, and then beginning at eight, they see another kind of like beginning, middle and end, and at the end of 12, another beginning, or at the beginning of 12, another beginning, middle and end.
David Spoon:And they see it in multiple visions or multiple understandings of the same thing.
David Spoon:In other words, each time it's more progressive, each time it's more intense.
David Spoon:There's nothing wrong with that point of view.
David Spoon:It's fine.
David Spoon:It's great.
David Spoon:What's wrong with that?
David Spoon:If a Christian thinks that way, super.
David Spoon:You don't sit there and not fellowship with one another because you see that differently.
David Spoon:That's just goofy.
David Spoon:In fact, that's just immature, to be honest.
David Spoon:There's another point of view.
David Spoon:We're done.
David Spoon:No, not really.
David Spoon:The other point of view is when Jesus said, write down the things you've seen, the things which are, and the things which will take place.
David Spoon:That.
David Spoon:That all has to do with the visions that John is happening.
David Spoon:So he's going to write down the visions he's had, he's going to write down the visions he's going to have, he's going to write down the visions that will take place later on.
David Spoon:And it's more of a process than anything else.
David Spoon:And you know what?
David Spoon:There's a bunch of people that think that it looks at that way.
David Spoon:So you could think it's historical, you could think it's parallel multiple times, or you could think it's just the visions manifesting their self out, fine.
David Spoon:If it keeps you in the word of God and draws you closer to the Lord, awesome.
David Spoon:If you recognize that reading the Book of Revelation, you should not be afraid.
David Spoon:Jesus is so close to you.
David Spoon:He has the authority and he's got you Covered.
David Spoon:As long as you do that, you're great.
David Spoon:And what I would encourage you to do.
David Spoon:I know this is almost blasphemy to some Christians, but I think you'll get over it.
David Spoon:If you have spent your time studying the Word of God in Revelation and you see it through a premillennial point of view and you love that, you should stay with that.
David Spoon:You kind of know what I'm talking about.
David Spoon:But it wouldn't destroy you to read the amillennial or post millennial point of view since they are written by other genuine Bible believing, born again Christians just like you.
David Spoon:And it's good to know what they think.
David Spoon:Doesn't mean you agree with it.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean you have to.
David Spoon:It's not.
David Spoon:Well, that's taking evil in.
David Spoon:That's stupid.
David Spoon:There has to be a point where the church grows up and pushes past that stuff.
David Spoon:And it's like, this is the.
David Spoon:If there's a time for the church to do it, this is the time.
David Spoon:And so I look at this and I think this is great because what we'll do is we'll look at the scriptures from that.
David Spoon:Is it chronological?
David Spoon:Maybe that's where some people come up with dispensationalism.
David Spoon:They think that the churches represent different stages of the church itself.
David Spoon:Maybe, maybe, I mean, there's some problems with that, but maybe it doesn't say that.
David Spoon:But you know, people, no matter what happens, people throw things into their interpretation.
David Spoon:Here's the thing you must remember, and this is the only key I'm going to require where Scripture speaks of scripture, Scripture is the interpreter.
David Spoon:In other words, anytime you come across something and it's referred to prior in Scripture, that's the number one point of interpretation.
David Spoon:Because all the rest of us are looking through a glass dimly, but then we shall see face to face.
David Spoon:So right now we're seeing it on the thin side.
David Spoon:And no, that doesn't make a reference to the canon of Scripture.
David Spoon:Talk about adding to the word of God.
David Spoon:That's ridiculous.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, so that's your little intro.

David Spoon:Anyhow, Bible melody deep down has to do with the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:So there are people that go, well, you know, in scripture there's so many contradictions.
David Spoon:Like what about when Jesus said, if you're for me, then you're not, you're not against me, if it gives me you're not for me.
David Spoon:And they kind of mix it all up and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:Let me just help out and just kind of set the record straight, keeping it simple.
David Spoon:There are two.
David Spoon:Now watch what I'm going to show you.
David Spoon:There are two.
David Spoon:Okay, watch.
David Spoon:Somewhere between one and three.
David Spoon:There are two.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go one more time.
David Spoon:There are two kingdoms.
David Spoon:I'm going to blow your mind though when I say this.
David Spoon:There is the kingdom of God, right?
David Spoon:Everybody would agree.
David Spoon:Okay, got it.
David Spoon:Seek first the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:The kingdom of God.
David Spoon:And then there is any other attempted kingdom.
David Spoon:There is the kingdom of God and then there's any other attempted kingdom.
David Spoon:The kingdom of darkness, the kingdom of men.
David Spoon:You know, it doesn't matter what it is.
David Spoon:There's the kingdom of God and all the other ones, okay?
David Spoon:And they're all just wrapped up in the one thing.
David Spoon:There's the kingdom of God and the kingdoms that are not the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:That's all we got.
David Spoon:That's all it is.
David Spoon:Luke, chapter nine, verse 49 through 50.
David Spoon:John responded, Master, we saw someone driving out demons in your name.
David Spoon:And we tried to stop him because he does not follow us.
David Spoon:Verse 50, don't stop him.
David Spoon:Jesus told him, because whoever is not against you is for you.
David Spoon:Keeping this in context, the person is not opposed.
David Spoon:This is very important.
David Spoon:The person is not opposed.
David Spoon:But for the kingdom of God, he's not neutral.
David Spoon:He's a kingdom advancer.
David Spoon:He's somebody that advancing the kingdom, casting out demons in the name of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And John is like, well, he's not one of us, okay?
David Spoon:That's a whole separate sermon, a whole separate issue which I'm sure your pastor has taught on many times.
David Spoon:And that is the last thing that you need are a whole bunch of more people just like you or just like me.
David Spoon:We need people to be like Jesus and they don't need to follow us.
David Spoon:Exactly.
David Spoon:They need to follow Jesus.
David Spoon:And I don't want to have, I don't want to reproduce a thousand mes.
David Spoon:I want people reproducing being Jesus because I'm not going to do anything.
David Spoon:But people who are more like Jesus, they make a difference.
David Spoon:And in context, this person was advancing the kingdom by driving out demons in the name of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:He's a kingdom advancer.
David Spoon:The David Spoon experience.
