Summary:
In this powerful Monday Myth Busting episode, Heather dismantles one of the most damaging myths in personal development: that you need to be "enough." Through brutally honest storytelling, she reveals her years as the "poster child" for this myth—breaking records on major projects, working ungodly hours, all while teaching time management workshops despite feeling like a complete fraud. From corporate success that felt hollow to caring for her parents while battling the relentless voice saying "you're not enough," Heather exposes the psychological trap that keeps us chasing an impossible standard. This episode offers radical liberation: what if the freedom comes from accepting you're not enough—and showing up anyway?

Key Takeaways:
The Liberation Message:
This episode arrives when perfectionism and hustle culture have left people exhausted from trying to prove their worth. Heather's message is revolutionary: you don't need to be enough—you just need to be you, beautifully, imperfectly, gloriously human.
This Week's Liberation Practice:
Every time you catch yourself in the "not enough" spiral, pause. Take three breaths and ask: "What if I'm exactly enough to take just the next step?" Not the whole staircase—just the next step. Notice how that feels different. Lighter. More possible.

Hello and welcome to Monday Myth Busting on the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:I'm Heather Masters and let's tackle one of the most damaging myths in personal development that you need to be enough.
Speaker A:It's not just a damaging myth in personal development, it's a damaging myth in our head.
Speaker A:So here's the thing.
Speaker A:We're told that if we just work harder, do more, push further, we'll finally reach that magical place called enough.
Speaker A:But what if I told you that chasing enough is exactly what keeps you feeling not enough?
Speaker A:What if the whole concept is designed to keep you running on a hamster wheel that never stops?
Speaker A:Stay tuned for this Monday's episode of the Choosing Happy Podcast.
Speaker A:Let me share something brutally honest.
Speaker A:For years, I was the poster child for this myth.
Speaker A:Breaking records on major projects, working ungodly hours, pushing my teams and myself beyond what we thought was possible.
Speaker A:And we did it.
Speaker A:We really 10x results.
Speaker A:And here's the kicker.
Speaker A:I was actually teaching time management as well.
Speaker A:And running productivity workshops.
Speaker A:Well, feeling like I was barely keeping my head above water.
Speaker A:And the irony wasn't lost on me, honestly.
Speaker A:There I was, standing in front of corporate audiences with my color coded calendars and delegation frameworks, while inside, I felt a complete fraud, balancing everything and pushing onwards.
Speaker A:Every success felt hollow because I knew, I just knew that I'd have to prove myself all over again tomorrow.
Speaker A:So I never really celebrated.
Speaker A:I never paused.
Speaker A:The goal posts kept moving and I kept chasing it like some sort of corporate greyhound.
Speaker A:Does that sound familiar?
Speaker A:But here's where it gets really painful.
Speaker A:When I was caring for my parents, doing Multiple nursing roles, 24, 7 for both of them, that nagging voice was relentless.
Speaker A:You're not enough.
Speaker A:You're failing them.
Speaker A:You should be doing more.
Speaker A:You should be capable of more.
Speaker A:I was exhausted, stretched beyond every limit, beyond limits I didn't even know existed.
Speaker A:And I was still beating myself up for not being enough.
Speaker A:But looking back now, I can see the truth.
Speaker A:I. I give everything a heart, every ounce of me.
Speaker A:And that was enough, even when it didn't feel like it.
Speaker A:So I wanted to share a couple of lessons today that I learned along the way.
Speaker A:The pursuit of enough actually reinstalls the belief that you're not enough.
Speaker A:It's a psychological trap.
Speaker A:The more you try to prove you're enough, the more you're operating from the belief that you're not.
Speaker A:You end up proving yourself right.
Speaker A:And secondly, no one is ever going to be 100% enough for anything.
Speaker A:And that's perfectly human.
Speaker A:We're designed to grow, expand and learn.
Speaker A:If you're already enough in every situation, you'd stop evolving.
Speaker A:You'd stop learning.
Speaker A:The discomfort of not being enough is often life trying to teach you something new to get you to stretch beyond your comfort zone.
Speaker A:And thirdly, freedom comes when you accept that you're not enough and show up anyway.
Speaker A:When you stop trying to be enough and start being present, everything changes.
Speaker A:You can finally enjoy the present moment because you're not constantly measuring yourself against an impossible standard, and miracles happen in the present.
Speaker A:Time expands and you achieve more from that place than from a place of pressure.
Speaker A:So here's your challenge for this week.
Speaker A:Every time you catch yourself in the Not Enough spiral, pause, take three breaths and just ask yourself, what if I'm exactly enough to take just the next step?
Speaker A:Not the whole staircase, not the entire journey, just the inspired next step.
Speaker A:Notice how that feels different, lighter, more possible.
Speaker A:And similarly, you don't even have to see the whole picture, just take the next step.
Speaker A:If this myth has been running your life, you're definitely not alone.
Speaker A:Share your enough stories with me at Heather Heather v. Masters.com the good, the messy, and everything in between.
Speaker A:And if you know someone trapped on the Enough hamster wheel, share this episode with them and subscribe for more myth busting that actually sets you free instead of giving you more to do.
Speaker A:And remember, you don't need to be enough.
Speaker A:You just need to be you.
Speaker A:Beautifully and perfectly, gloriously human.
Speaker A:Because you always are enough.
Speaker A:Anyway, now I'm off to be spectacularly not enough at something and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.
Speaker A:Speak soon.
Speaker A:Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this week's episode.
