Shownotes

New plant-based coatings are being developed to keep fruits and vegetables fresh much longer. They are designed to be nearly invisible and tasteless, potentially reducing food waste and helping fresh produce reach communities where access is limited.

That sounds promising, but it also raises an uncomfortable question about how far we should go when altering natural processes. Is this thoughtful innovation and responsible stewardship, or another attempt to control something we were meant to care for?

Scripture (ESV): Genesis 2:15 – “The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”

Reflection Questions:

How can we distinguish wise innovation from unnecessary interference?

Does extending the life of produce feel like good stewardship to you?
