Welcome to she coaches, coaches, I'm your host, Candy Motzek. And I'm going to help you find the clarity, confidence and courage to become the coach that you were meant to be. If you're a new coach, or if you've always wanted to be a life coach, then this is the place for you. We're going to talk all about mindset and strategies and how to, because step by step only works when you have the clarity, courage and confidence to take action. Let's get started.
Candy Motzek:Hi, Coach, I am so glad you're here. This is a special episode of she coaches, coaches. And I do mean special it is episode 200. It's kind of a milestone, one that you know, I never in a million years thought would happen. Because 200 is a whole lot of episodes. And I am so glad that you're here to be part of it with me. So let me begin by sharing my appreciation for you. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to listen to this show. If you're a new listener, welcome. If you've been listening for some time, or one of my original Lister listeners, I am so grateful that you're here. I found that attention is the greatest gift you can give. Taking the time to listen as you go about your day. Listen to this show is no small commitment. I know you might be saying what, I just pop in my earbuds, I listen to it while I'm commuting to work or when I'm on the treadmill or when I'm cooking dinner. Maybe you listen when you're out on a walk. But really your attention your time spent listening is really important. Whichever way you do it, I appreciate you. And thank you. You choose to pay attention. That says a lot. I'd also like to thank some other people too. First, a hearty thank you to my husband and my family, for sticking with me through all the ups and downs of all these recordings that I've done. And a hearty thank you to the team at amplify you. They're the people who take my recordings and make them sound amazing. So they can be shared with you, and the rest of the world. And another thank you goes to all my guests. These are the people who have come on the show and being interviewed. I just went in counted. I've had exactly 100 guests, what are the chances right, Episode 201 100 guests. When the show started, I only did solo episodes for a number of months. But then as I started to get more comfortable, I would invite the occasional client to come on as a guest. And then later I branched out to having industry experts to I have met some of the kindest, most wholehearted people through creating this show. And if you have been one of my guests, my hat's off to you, thank you so much for helping to make this show even better. That's 100 interesting conversations with many, many people that, you know, otherwise, I would never have had a chance to meet 100 conversations where I supported them in their business growth. And they supported she coaches, coaches and all of the listeners and how have we grown. We have gathered listeners in 117 countries. They've got loads of listeners from the US, from Canada, from Australia from the UK. But we've also got listeners from Malta, and Jordan, and Ghana, and Finland, and Kira. So, and Bangladesh and Luxembourg, Nepal and Zambia to many countries for me to name them all. But I have looked at that entire list. And I realized every single one of those countries as people who want to get more clarity and want to feel more confident and become fully booked and thriving coaches. It is so cool. Because I remember how many months that I actually procrastinated and I had to get coached on this idea myself on having the courage to even start this podcast. My brain was on override. I had all the thoughts. I didn't know how to do it. What a If I was terrible, I didn't know what I would talk about, oh, there was so much. I procrastinated. And I dithered and I spun out and overthinking. And then one day, I was in a coaching session with my own coach. And she helped me to realize a few things, that there were lots of people like me who wanted to create a podcast and didn't, and never did a dream that was never realized. So many people never realize their dreams, they have this idea, but they never do it. And then, just this idea of me stepping forward and starting the podcast, that courage was a signal, it was a signal to myself, that this work was meaningful to me. And that I wasn't going to let my fear of being judged hold me back. I also got a dose of reality, when I realized that, really, most people would never even hear about me, I wasn't that important to them. But the right ones will, the right ones still do. The ones who are meant to hear this message would find the show, and they would listen to it. And that is you. I also realized that I had something to say. And this thought kept me going from the start, and it still does, I have something important to share, I have something important to say, and I am going to share it. I share this with you these ideas about how I came to actually step forward and create the show. Because maybe there's something that you've been thinking of doing something, starting a podcast maybe, or maybe you've been dreaming of starting a YouTube channel, or writing a book or publishing a blog. Whatever it is for you. I want to encourage you to take that step, you've got something important to say to and your people need to hear it. I have learned a lot. And I've evolved since this show began, just did a really fun thing. And you're gonna be a little bit surprised. But I went back and I re listened to episode number one, which was originally released August 19 2020. Now today, as I'm recording this episode, it is May 29. It's 2024. So it's close to four years later. And I have seen how much I've grown. But the funny thing is that I have never listened to that episode before I wrote it. And I recorded it. And then I just let it go. And it's only today, almost four years later that I put in my own earbuds and I listened to it. And it is very different. How I did that episode is so different from how I do things. Now, when I started out, I would write the podcast out word by word. And then I would stand in my bedroom closet to record it. I would push all the clothes to the side so that I could put my computer on a little shelf that I have in there. Then I would close the closet door and I would hit record. Oh my gosh, it would be so hot in there so sweltering and stuffy. I was always just sweating. Sometimes I'd start the recording, and then I'd completely mess up. And then I'd start it again. And delete and again and delete. And again. I don't know why. But when I started doing the show, I wasn't skilled enough to tell my podcast editor how to clip out those places where I had stumbled or fumbled. So I do the whole thing over and over and over again until I got it right in one take. I thought of those first recordings when I listened to Episode One. And at the time, I said this thing about confidence. Remember, how I look on the outside is nothing to do with how I feel on the inside. And that's super important. And I want you to hear it again. I want you to hear it with yourself in mind. Say this to yourself. How I look on the outside is nothing to do with how I feel on the inside. Now, I don't know how you imagine other people are in their life, how they experience their life. But I know that for me I often imagine that there are some big podcast out podcasters out there some people who have doing this been doing this for a while or really anything in their business and that for them. It's easy breezy like no big deal. Never are a struggle. They always know what to talk about. They always do it. It's always fun. And everything fits together just perfectly for them the first time. That's how it is in my imagination. I know, as I say it out loud, it's pretty silly. But I'm just telling you what's really going on in my head. And then I compare that fantasy. It's me, overheating, standing in my closet, with the door closed behind me recording those first few episodes. And at the same time, I remember that the only way to confidence is through doing the indecision, the spinning the overthinking the procrastinating and taking action. That is my only way to confidence is I have to go through all of that, and then actually do the thing. And do it over and over and over. Until I get confident. So I want to share something with you. I want to share this short clip from episode one that I would love you to hear again. Hey, friends, welcome to episode one of chic coaches, coaches,
Candy Motzek:I'm Kandi motsek. Let's get started. Hey, I am so glad to be recording this first episode. I'm here because I love coaching. And I love coaches. I think coaches are a powerful force for good in the world. And I want to do everything I can to support you to grow. And to help you become the most successful and fulfilled coach you can be. This is for new and aspiring coaches. And I want to be really clear. When I say become successful. I mean, whatever makes you feel successful. Some of you may want a million dollar business, that's great, if that's what you want, super. But some of you might define successful as a steady stream of five one on one clients and have a waitlist, whichever end of the spectrum you're on, you get to define success. And I'm here to mentor and coach you all along the way. Personally, I think we all need a coach. It's the place where you get to learn how to grow more into yourself, create a fulfilling life, and maximize your contribution to the world. I've been wanting to create this podcast for months. My goal is simple. My aim is to help you to mentor and coach you so that you've got the mindset and the tools that you can put into practice to become a thriving coach. I'm so glad you're here. And I'm excited. Nope, scratch that. I'm nervous. And truthfully, I kind of find this funny. It's like the universe has conspired to create the absolute perfect scenario. And here's why. I'm a coach for coaches. And one of the biggest issues coaches bring to me is this feeling of self doubt, or a lack of confidence. Maybe they feel confused, or they feel overwhelmed, or just plain stuck. They don't know what to do. They don't know where to start. And they sure don't want to look stupid. I spent a ton of time helping coaches overcome self doubt and fear and push past procrastination and overwhelm in a super real and practical way. So that they can create more impact more money and more fulfillment for themselves and their clients. So here's me, a confidence coach. And I just shared with you that I'm nervous too. This is the perfect example of what confidence is, and how it's created. I know over time, I will grow and become more confident and speaking to you on this podcast is going to get easier and easier. I'm so glad you're here to be part of the journey with me. Now more than anything this way, when I'm talking to you like this, you know, I'm honest with you. And you know, without a shadow of a doubt that we're all in this together. Most people when they see my photo, or they see me on video, they say, Ah, you look so confident or you look so calm and cool and collected. And here's me telling you how I look on the outside has nothing to do with how I feel on the inside. And I think that that's a great lesson. So let me say it again. How you look on the outside has nothing to do with how you feel on the inside. And that's a great piece of news. I've learned to accept that whenever I do something new, just like This podcast, I'm going to feel nervous, and expect that you will feel nervous doing new things too. I'm nervous, because I want this to be an amazing tool. I want to get to know you, I want to reach through your earbuds and help you take the first or the next step on your journey. And in speaking, as I talk through this, I realize that I'm nervous because this is important to me to have an impact. And to help you in the best way I can. I want this to be the best use of your time. Maybe you're listening while you're cooking dinner, or you're on your commute. And I am so thankful that you're here listening, and I'm really grateful for your time. My pattern is that I'll second guess, and rework everything over and over. Sometimes I procrastinate. Sometimes I spin in indecision, until I remember that the only way to confidence is through, it's managing my mind drama, part courage, some small actions and allowing myself to know that I won't be as good as I can be yet, and to also know that I will get better and better each time. I believe in you. And I believe in coaching, I think the field of coaching is just gaining momentum. And I'm convinced that every person would benefit from having a coach. That's my vision for the future, that we all have coaches, and sometimes more than one. So the more I help you, the more people you will be able to impact and together we will transform the world. I know it might sound kind of weird, but it's true. This is what we're doing is coaching. For coaches, we're transforming the world and helping others to live a way more meaningful life. Everyone wants purpose, fulfillment, money, freedom and a good life. And coaching is one of the best ways to make this happen.
Candy Motzek:Now, I still believe, to this day that every single person can benefit from having a coach. And that original mission that I described in that very first episode is still fully present for me. And if anything, the biggest shift is that it's intensified. I feel even more deeply about the power of transformation that coaching can bring. And that coaching is indeed a force for good. Something we so desperately need in this world today. So as I listened to Episode One, and I thought about you, and I thought, gosh, what have I learned from creating this podcast that I can share with you. So here are eight things that I have learned from creating this podcast, that I'm hoping if I share them with you, you can take them and use them and help yourself move forward, too. So the first one, patience and persistence pays off. I cannot overstate the importance of persistence. Originally, I was worried about this thing called pod fade. That's where a podcast starts out, they have a few episodes. And then after a little while, they just stop producing episodes. They don't tell you they're leaving, they just kind of fade out. But what I found out is that with patience and persistence, I become the person who's released an episode every single week, for 200 weeks. And believe me, sometimes it's easy. Sometimes it's hard. And either of those scenarios is okay. Just because it hurts hard doesn't make it any less rewarding. So that persistence is really important. Now, it's just who I am. Because I persisted. I've grown and I've improved, and I want that for you to being a coach. Having a coaching business. Being a great coach. You only get those things by doing practice. You just keep going. You just keep showing up. You persist and you have patience. And so number two, number two is lighten up. I discovered that I could lighten up on my expectations. Every one of my episodes didn't need to be my best episode. Nor do I have to be the best podcaster in the world to have an impact. by lightening up I got to enjoy the process more instead of being so darn hard on myself. The result? Well, some of my episodes are amazing and great, and some are, frankly, quite mediocre. My job is to do what I can each week. What about you? Where could you lighten up just a little. And now I'm not saying quit, or slack. But give yourself a little bit more compassion, a little bit more grace, and keep perspective. The third thing that I wanted to share with you is this, people love podcasts. I know, it's so great. Podcasts are a great way to grow your business. And if you haven't considered it, maybe it's time you do. You can grow your business without a ton of sales calls. I want you to know, I sign dream clients directly from this show. They listen to the episodes. And then when they're ready, they reach out directly to me in the DMS and they say, Hey, candy, how can I work with you? is simple. It works. It's amazing. Now when I record my episode, I do my best to speak directly to you. My dream client, I want you to really hear this, and to take it to heart. And because so often when we're listening to podcasts, we're got our little earbuds in right. So that podcaster is actually inside your head. And I believe that it makes you feel just a little bit more connected just a little bit closer to me. The fourth thing that I've learned is that batching is a gift. batching is a gift I give myself, I batch my content. And it's because it makes really good use of my time. And it reduces my stress, when I'm less stressed. And I'm more prepared. It's a better experience for both of us, you the listener, me the podcaster. I create, create anywhere from four to 10 episodes at a time. And I found this especially helpful, because once I'm on a roll, I've got momentum, it's the stopping and starting that takes energy for me. For example, in preparation for the summer, I pre plan and I pre record the episodes. So I know, I can go away with my family. And the podcast is organized, reliable and ready to go. So what about you? What could you take away from this lesson? Where could you batch something to help make growing your coaching practice less stressful and more successful? Number five that I want to share with you is there is an element of faith in this process. I never know who's found my show. I never know who was listening. I never know exactly who is being helped. And that faith is part of the magic. I choose my topics, I invite my guests, I create the episodes, but it's never up to me, I can never predetermined who is going to hear it and who it will help the most. I do the work. And I let the work work through me. And I have the faith that the right people, the ones who are meant to hear this do number six, there is power in simplicity. And what I mean by this is I chose podcasting as my one prime method of creating content. I record my episodes, and most of my social media are related to the podcast. This means that I've got a theme for the week, and that I'm less overwhelmed trying to juggle all the balls. So this approach allows me to repurpose content, meaning this I use the same content or parts of it in different ways across many platforms, that saves energy, and it keeps everything in my business much simpler. So for me one mode is podcasting. One episode each week, simplicity and clarity. So what about you? What method could you choose? What's your one thing? What's easy for you? What sounds like fun? Maybe it's podcasting. Maybe it's writing a blog, maybe it's doing videos, you choose your one and then you focus on it. So instead of trying to juggle all the balls, you choose your one you keep it simple.
Candy Motzek:Number seven authentic connections. This has been super interesting for me, podcasting has given me a real place for genuine, unscripted conversations. And through these interactions, I have built so many more authentic connections with you the listener, and also with my guests. It's provided me some great networking opportunities. And when I say networking opportunities, it sounds kind of formal, but what it means is relationships, connection, people that I know and enjoy. And I believe that this is one of the best ways for introverts to network. It's me, I'm a huge introvert, you guys have heard me say this before. But because of my podcast, I have talked to so many interesting people. We've had real true conversations, instead of surface level conversations that you might see at a social event. And I have been a guest on 42 other shows. And that's a direct result of me doing this show. people invite me to come and be on their show, we have great conversations. So this is truly translated into trust, connection, credibility, relationships, it's an amazing thing. And finally, personal fulfillment. This podcast for me has been so personally fulfilling, it has allowed me to work through my thoughts, work through my ideas, share my knowledge and find better ways to communicate. It's really helped me, and it's helped me help others too. It's very satisfying to see the impact of the work that I've done. And it's brought me a lot of joy. So what about you? Where could you create an asset for your business, something that stands the test of time that keeps on giving, that is personally fulfilling. And again, maybe podcasting is on your list, too. So I hope these eight lessons have helped you in your growth as well. And the eight lessons that I shared with you are this number one, patience and persistence pays off. Number two, it's okay to lighten up on your expectations. Number three people love podcasts. Number four batching is a gift I give myself. Number five, there is an element of faith. Number six, there is power in simplicity. Seven, this is a place of authentic connection. And finally, number eight, podcasting has provided a ton of personal fulfillment. So those are my eight lessons for you. And now lastly, as we wrap up this 200th episode, you might be wondering, what's next for she coaches coaches. So I've got some really fun stuff planned, I'm going to continue to do some solo episodes. And many of the same type of episodes that you showed me are your favorites, I plan on integrating more video in my episodes as well, just like you may be seeing today, I'm videoing this not just doing the audio recording. And I'm looking forward really looking forward to this next stage of growth for the show. In addition, I've got lots more fun interviews with people that I know you're going to love and that you're going to learn so much from. And I've got a couple of series in the works. These little series. The first is going to be on designing your coaching niche, something that I know so many of you want some additional support with. And another series that I've been dreaming up is sharing with you some of the interesting things that I've learned about LinkedIn, and how I've used it to create connection, and clients. And finally, I've got a few coaching demos ready for you too. I invited some people to show up on Zoom and surprise me, surprise me with whatever topic that they wanted to be coached on. And then we coached it was a little interesting, because I didn't know what to expect. But that's the thing about coaching. We never know what our clients are going to bring to the call. And so it was so much fun to do that. And I really appreciated the people who volunteered to come on and be coached. This is a new approach that I've wanted to share with you for some time to show you what coaching is really like to show you how valuable even a very short laser coaching session can be. And also to show you that every coach doesn't always know exactly what's coming up in the call. You can see that so you know that you're okay. When your clients come to your calls and they bring something Different, you're gonna be just fine. I am enjoying creating the show, still enjoying after 200 episodes. And I know you're gonna love what's coming down the pipe, too. So thank you again for spending time with me today. And I'd really appreciate it if you would share this episode with anyone that you think could benefit from it. We'll be back and talk to you again next week. Thanks again for listening today.
