Shownotes

Season two is here! You all were so fantastic during the pilot season, so now we’re back for season two — this time with a team of awesome women audio engineers and musicians working behind the scenes to make this come together for you. And that’s extra fitting because this whole season is about how the narrative is changing in the arts.

We are at an inflection point for arts organizations: audiences are down from pre-pandemic levels, subscriptions on the decline, still confronting systemic discrimination and working to diversify, trying to attract and retain talent, and ultimately reclaim relevance in a complex world. The good news is all of these topics are advancing, even if slowly.

Season two includes 11 new episodes, released every other week, as we bring you interviews from some of my favorite experts on these subjects and others to help us build the vibrant future we know is possible.

The arts can be a tough business, but the narrative is changing, and I’m so glad you’re here to be a part of it.

Dear Diary...Season 1 was...fine I guess. You know I love a good experiment: Go out with a prototype, test it, see what works, iterate. And people seemed to like it (p.s. those people are amazing).

Now I’m back for season two

— this time with a team of awesome women working behind the scenes to make this come together for you — and that’s extra fitting because this whole season is about how the narrative IS changing in the arts.

We’re talking about topics like company culture,

Working strategically with our artists,

And of course, making more money,

Join me, Aubrey Bergauer, every other week, as we bring you interviews from some of my favorite experts on these subjects and others to build the vibrant future we know is possible.

I've been called the Steve jobs of classical music and the Sheryl Sandberg of the symphony. I've held off stage roles overseeing millions of dollars in revenue at major institutions, and as the chief executive of a symphony orchestra, where we doubled the audience and nearly quadrupled the donor base.

This podcast is for people who believe arts and culture can lead out in values we hold, can innovate, and can regain relevance, audiences and donors in a complex world. It's for professionals who are driven and want to further their careers. And it's for board members and artists who aren't satisfied with the status quo.

We’re here to learn together, all so that our organizations, artists and administrators can do the work needed ahead, serve more people, and better fund the mission.
