We tend to only consider ourselves in the midst of difficult circumstances. This makes experiencing true joy impossible. We search for joy outwardly in other things rather that upward from our Father in heaven. We run our lives into destruction looking for joy in all the wrong places. The gospel reminds us to consider Jesus, who considered it a joy to go the cross for us. When we remember what Jesus did for us, we can rejoice and experience joy in every trial because God is using it to conform us to the image of His Son.
