The podcast series “Simone de Beauvoir: Why She Still Matters Today” commemorates the 40th anniversary of the passing of Simone de Beauvoir, the influential French writer whose ideas transformed the global movement for women’s rights.

For the last episode of this series, we introduce listeners to the arrival of Beauvoir’s legacy and impact in Thai society through Beauvoir’s lens from the book The Second Sex. This episode discusses topics including women’s roles in the family, otherness, women’s spaces in Thai politics, gender bias, the traditional virtue of women in Thai society, along with legal advancement and gender equality in Thailand.
