David Spoon:

Have you used your faith to make a decision this week?

David Spoon:

You don't make decisions out of fear, people.

David Spoon:

That's the wrong way to go.

David Spoon:

You make decisions using your faith.

David Spoon:

Have you made a decision using your faith this week?

David Spoon:

How did you do it?

David Spoon:

That's the question.

David Spoon:

And if you have an answer, an opinion, a comment A thought or a question?

Jammin Jacob:

It's coming soon.

Jammin Jacob:

I know the suspense was there for everyone to find out what new song will be played, but just went with an old song today.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

So that's driving people crazy.

David Spoon:

You will relieve them of their craziness next week, Right?

David Spoon:

Sometime next week.

David Spoon:

You will have something there for them.

David Spoon:

Oh, that's so nice of you.

David Spoon:

And anything happening this weekend Besides a little bit of football, a little bit of this?

David Spoon:

You don't work this weekend, do you?

David Spoon:

Work?

Jammin Jacob:

No, I am off this weekend.

Very, very good.

Jammin Jacob:

Any 3D movie watch tonight?

David Spoon:

Yes, yes.

David Spoon:

We were in the middle of one and we have to finish it.

David Spoon:

So it's just the same series that we're going through.

David Spoon:

Although my wife and I have decided personally that movies sometimes when they make the second movie, the third movie, and the fourth movie, sometimes it can be better.

David Spoon:

Like one out of 4,000.

David Spoon:

And that's the case here anyway.

Jammin Jacob:

And then they do the fifth movie, the sixth movie, the seventh movie.

David Spoon:

By the time you get to the ninth movie, you go, that's really around.

David Spoon:

I thought McDonald's had already sold that many burgers anyway.

Jammin Jacob:

And then they get to.

Jammin Jacob:

Eventually they run out of ideas and they go up into space.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

You know what they do is they go, time.

David Spoon:

We'll bring time into it and go pre.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

You know, really, really try this idea.

David Spoon:

Creative.

David Spoon:

Anyhow, the idea behind this is simply if you want to reach out to us by phone, you know you can do it.

David Spoon:

And we want you to do that.

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

He must increase from john330.org nonprofit entity.

David Spoon:

So you can either call us, you can text us, you can email us.

David Spoon:

Why would you do that?

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a praise report.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a prayer request praise report, something where you're honoring the Lord.

David Spoon:

Prayer request is something that you need help with.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got an answer to that question.

David Spoon:

Did your faith inspire you this week?

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a scripture you want to share?

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

That's up to you.

David Spoon:

We do have somebody on the line and not sure what's going on yet, but we'll find out by sending them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Sergio:

David.

Sergio:

Good afternoon, Sergio.

David Spoon:

Hello, Sergio, my friend.

David Spoon:

How are you?

Sergio:

Good.

Sergio:

How are you?

David Spoon:

Good.

David Spoon:

You know, I'm banking on the Cowboys this weekend.

David Spoon:

I made my pick.

David Spoon:

I said the Cowboys would, in fact, win this weekend.

David Spoon:

So I'm just telling you I'm standing in your corner.

David Spoon:

I'm just letting you know that.

Sergio:

Well, I appreciate that, David.

Sergio:

Hey, so I'm not really that sport centric today.

Sergio:

I just really wanted to ask you a question regarding where I'm at in my BFN part of my day.

David Spoon:

Yes.

Sergio:

So I've always wanted to have like a, you know, like a reference guide or something.

Sergio:

You know how, you know how the Bible is so succinct, right?

Sergio:

It's.

Sergio:

They're so.

Sergio:

It's so short.

Sergio:

You know, the verses or the sentences, they're very.

Sergio:

They're really short.

Sergio:

So if you didn't get it, you got to keep going.

Sergio:

So my question to you is, I'm still in numbers.

Sergio:

And so why.

Sergio:

How did.

Sergio:

What was the reasoning behind Aaron dying?

Sergio:

If you remember that or if you.

David Spoon:

Can remember now, you're not.

David Spoon:

You're not talking about his sons, right?

David Spoon:

You're just talking about him, right?

David Spoon:

Just.

Sergio:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sergio:

Because he.

David Spoon:

They.

Sergio:

They went up like on a mountain, and he took his clothes off.

Sergio:

So that way that.

Sergio:

The.

Sergio:

For that way the.

Sergio:

His clothes could be put on his sons or something like that.

Sergio:

That kind of threw me off.

Sergio:

I mean, I try to pay as much attention to that as I can while I'm reading, but that kind of threw me off.

Sergio:

Do you remember why he died or why God made him die?

David Spoon:

Okay, so here's that and that's an interesting question because there's a couple of answers.

David Spoon:

So if you.

David Spoon:

You can either hang on or you could hang up.

David Spoon:

It's up to you, brother, because that never bothers me if you hang on.

David Spoon:

Just so you can know.

David Spoon:

But you're.

David Spoon:

We're going to deal with something, David.

David Spoon:

You're good.

Sergio:

Let me hang up and listen and thank you for all you do.

Sergio:

Thank you for being a part of my journey.

Sergio:

Oh, you know what?

Sergio:

I do have a following question on that.

Sergio:

I don't know if I missed it or not, but did I miss the gathering of the radio audience?

David Spoon:

No.

David Spoon:

No, you did not.

Sergio:

Can you just follow up.

Sergio:

Can you just follow up on that later on?

David Spoon:

Yeah, I will.

David Spoon:

I'll follow up on that.

David Spoon:

On.

David Spoon:

Actually on one of the teachings, actually.

David Spoon:

Yeah, I'm Actually, that's part of.

David Spoon:

Ironically, part of the teaching I'm gonna do after I answer your question.

David Spoon:

That's funny.

Sergio:

Thank you, David.

Sergio:

Have a great weekend.

Sergio:

Love your show.

Sergio:

Love you and the Lord.

David Spoon:

Got you, brother.

David Spoon:

Love you back.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

All right, so it's really a fascinating question.

David Spoon:

So now I can go a hundred different directions, but Sergio is saying, look, why did Aaron go up there?

David Spoon:

He took off his clothes, and then his kids are gonna take the clothes.

David Spoon:

And what's going on with that?

David Spoon:

And how did that work?

David Spoon:

So I wanna say something, and I don't want people to get offended at me.

David Spoon:

I don't want you to be mad about this answer, but it is the truth.

David Spoon:

And that's the.

David Spoon:

Paul said something to the church at the Galatians church that he sent a message to.

David Spoon:

He said, have I become your enemy because I tell you the truth.

David Spoon:

And sometimes when you hear the truth, people don't like it.

David Spoon:

And it doesn't matter because the truth doesn't change.

David Spoon:

Here's something you've got to understand.

David Spoon:

And I know people are going to want to argue with me, and I appreciate that, But I am telling you, Scripture is absolutely clear on this, okay?

David Spoon:

The reason that Aaron passed or was his time was up was simply this.

David Spoon:

His time was up.

David Spoon:

And let me explain something to you.

David Spoon:

I know everybody says, well, you can extend your life for 15 or 20 years if you do this or you do that.

David Spoon:

And I appreciate that you should do the best you can because you're trying to be healthier.

David Spoon:

I think that's a right attitude or right disposition.

David Spoon:

But it is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment.

David Spoon:

And the Bible is very clear about a man or a woman numbering Their days.

David Spoon:

You have a certain amount of time here on earth.

David Spoon:

There are a lot of things that you think you may be able to do to extend that, and you would be wrong.

David Spoon:

You are going to pass on the time allotted and you think, well, that's not fair.

David Spoon:

It's not fair that you got to live in the first place after you sinned.

David Spoon:

So we're not going to go with the fair argument.

David Spoon:

That just loses.

David Spoon:

And what we are going to acknowledge is in Aaron's taking off his clothes and the kids putting him on, that's a transfer of power.

David Spoon:

Something very similar happened.

David Spoon:

Well, I don't want to spoil it for Sergio, but something similar happens with Mo.

David Spoon:

The idea behind this is that, and I want to say it in a way that doesn't hurt or doesn't needle people, and that is this.

David Spoon:

You have an appointment for your termination on the earth.

David Spoon:

If the Lord tarries, if the Lord comes back and it is pre mill, pre trib, right?

David Spoon:

And then do, do, do we all go, awesome sauce.

David Spoon:

Who's not going to want that?

David Spoon:

Who doesn't prefer that?

David Spoon:

But if there's a delay or a misunderstanding or anything else, let me just make it absolutely clear.

David Spoon:

You have a point where you are birthed and you will have a point where you die.

David Spoon:

You are currently technically in this body, a linear creature, point A to point B.

David Spoon:

So fascinating, because God is an interlinear being.

David Spoon:

He operates outside of the timeline.

David Spoon:

We operate in a timeline.

David Spoon:

So what happens for every person, good, bad or indifferent, is it's time to pass.

David Spoon:

David was a great king.

David Spoon:

He was a king for 40 years.

David Spoon:

After that, 40 years was up, time was over.

David Spoon:

In fact, Hezekiah was one of the main people that said, I don't want to die at my appointed time.

David Spoon:

Will you give me more time?

David Spoon:

God granted him more time.

David Spoon:

And in that extra 15 years that Hezekiah got, he ruined much of what he did.

David Spoon:

And the Lord is well aware that that was going to take place.

David Spoon:

It was quite the example for all of us.

David Spoon:

In fact, when you get into the depth of this, really the nook and cranny of this, the Lord knows when your time should be.

David Spoon:

And for some people, it's a mercy time because things they may encounter, if they stayed alive, would wound them deeply.

David Spoon:

That's how much mercy God has.

David Spoon:

And we don't like to think of it in those terms.

David Spoon:

Because why?

David Spoon:

Because we want to have some sense of control.

David Spoon:

We want to be in charge.

David Spoon:

Hey, I got a message for you.

David Spoon:

If God says your time's up, Your time's up.

David Spoon:

You can walk all you want, really sneaky, everywhere you want to go.

David Spoon:

But if it's going to be a piano that drops on your head, it's going to be a piano that drops on your head.

David Spoon:

And you're not gonna stop God from letting it drop.

David Spoon:

That's all I'm gonna tell you.

David Spoon:

And the reason that's important is because there has to be a humility, a submission.

David Spoon:

Now in Aaron's case, cause he was so powerful and so effective and his time came and it was time to go.

David Spoon:

He transfers and his kids take over power because it's the Aaron hood.

David Spoon:

It's the Aaron, the idea behind his priesthood is traveling on and moving forward.

David Spoon:

It's not going to cease with him.

David Spoon:

He was the beginning, he wasn't the end.

David Spoon:

Here's what I want you to catch though.

David Spoon:

The more important thing that people don't recognize is there is a time.

David Spoon:

And when it says there is an appointment is appointed unto man once to die, that's not in the generic sense, that's in a specific sense.

David Spoon:

And there is a day, there is a moment where your time will pass and it's over if the Lord tarries.

David Spoon:

Which is why everything that we're supposed to do is gear for that.

David Spoon:

Because why would you compare 70, 80, 90, 100 years to 10 trillion years?

David Spoon:

No comparison, right?

David Spoon:

So we should be gearing for that which is coming.

David Spoon:

Which is why Jesus taught to lay up treasures in heaven and for us to be so heavenly minded, we're of no earthly good.

David Spoon:

Because when you're of earthly good, you get soiled by the earth.

David Spoon:

So Aaron's time was up.

David Spoon:

And you find that of characters, all that, and you can say, well, why is that?

David Spoon:

That's how God arranges it.

David Spoon:

That's that part where we don't have control over what God determines as to when their time is up.

David Spoon:

Sarah passed, I'm sure Abraham wasn't happy.

David Spoon:

Spouses passed.

David Spoon:

Nobody's happy.

David Spoon:

When a child passes before a parent, it's a tragedy.

David Spoon:

It is the reference to the sinfulness of the world.

David Spoon:

And it has not been fully redeemed in the context that people are going.

David Spoon:

It is fully redeemed.

David Spoon:

It is fully redeemed.

David Spoon:

There is no curse of the law.

David Spoon:

People still die.

David Spoon:

That is why that statement is stupid.

David Spoon:

Because that death is part of that curse.

David Spoon:

You can't take it away.

David Spoon:

When the full redemption comes, there will be no more of that.

David Spoon:

But there is a partial redemption taking place, certainly one that sets us up for eternity.

David Spoon:

Okay, so the first answer I'm going to say to Sergio.

David Spoon:

And question one.

David Spoon:

I'm actually going to answer his second question.

David Spoon:

And no, we're not going to break, so it doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

The first answer is, well, why was it his time?

David Spoon:

Because God determined that's his time.

David Spoon:

And every one of us ought to walk our lives humbly aware that any day, unless the Lord tells you, any time can be your day for you to meet him personally versus going up corporately.

David Spoon:

And that should put a humility, a fear in the sense of not terror, but a respect and awe, a reverence, recognizing who exactly you're dealing with.

David Spoon:

This is God.

David Spoon:

He makes those calls.

David Spoon:

It's up to him.

David Spoon:

Nothing takes place in the realm of man that is not determined that God has a hand in.

David Spoon:

I mean, it's just absurd.

David Spoon:

Just think of Nebuchadnezzar.

David Spoon:

We might get into him in the second 60 minutes.

David Spoon:

Think of Nebuchadnezzar.

David Spoon:

He was like, okay, God rules in the affairs of men, and anybody that says otherwise is going to get executed.

David Spoon:

That's how serious it got right.

David Spoon:

All right, now, Sergio asked another question.

David Spoon:

And I'm sorry if that's not more.

David Spoon:

People are like, well, I want more.

David Spoon:

I want more.

David Spoon:

This is what it is.

David Spoon:

You have to have a reverence, a respect and awe of God.

David Spoon:

There is an appointed time for death, and we will face it.

David Spoon:

But if we have genuine Christian faith, we find out in the book of Hebrews that we are not bound by fear to face that death.

David Spoon:

In fact, when Brother Ace called in and shared with everybody that he wanted to go, he's telling everybody, my faith is real.

David Spoon:

I embrace.

David Spoon:

Let's go.

David Spoon:

Powerful.

David Spoon:

It's powerful.

David Spoon:

Now, I want to finish up on this letter on the third John, because we only have these two verses.

David Spoon:

And Sergio asked an amazing question.

David Spoon:

And it's ironic because it totally cuts into what I'm teaching on.

David Spoon:

We're in third John.

David Spoon:

We're in chapter.

David Spoon:

There's only one chapter.

David Spoon:

We're actually in verse 12.

David Spoon:

We just covered from verse 12.

David Spoon:

Demetrius has received a good testimony from everybody and from the truth itself.

David Spoon:

We also testify for him.

David Spoon:

And you know that our testimony is true.

David Spoon:

Here's the conclusion.

David Spoon:

It's only two verses.

David Spoon:

How could you get anything out of this?

David Spoon:

Here's what John writes.

David Spoon:

I have many things to write you, but I would prefer not to do so with pen and ink.

David Spoon:

Instead, I hope to see you soon and speak with you face to face.

David Spoon:

Peace to you.

David Spoon:

The friends here send you greetings.

David Spoon:

Greet each of Our friends there by name.

David Spoon:

Now, there's three really fascinating things that come about out of this, and I want you to pick up on this.

David Spoon:

First of all, Demetrius is being talked about in a good way.

David Spoon:

And if you remember, it's Diotrephes.

David Spoon:

That was like kind of a bad dude.

David Spoon:

And he was the guy that was like freaky, controlly pastry kind of thing.

David Spoon:

And that was not good, okay?

David Spoon:

So when he mentions Demetrius, he's like, this guy's wonderful.

David Spoon:

He loves the truth.

David Spoon:

People love him.

David Spoon:

He cares more about how other people are doing than positions that he holds.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

He cares more about how other people are doing than he does about positions that he holds or titles.

David Spoon:

And that, of course, takes us back to Jesus, who said, as amongst us, that he was a servant.

David Spoon:

So that's a powerful teach right there.

David Spoon:

And we could spend a lot of time in that.

David Spoon:

But in verse 13, he says, I have many things I want to write to you with pen and ink, but instead I'd rather see you soon and speak with you face to face, even.

David Spoon:

And I got this note in here, and Sergio asks the question, right?

David Spoon:

And it leads right into the answer.

David Spoon:

Even I wrote this, even.

David Spoon:

Our radio fellowship, we have a wonderful element of fellowship, right?

David Spoon:

We do, where people connect and they love each other, but inside of us is this little desire at some point for all of us to get together corporately.

David Spoon:

Let me point this out real quickly.

David Spoon:

We're not doing that yet.

David Spoon:

The not yet has been declared.

David Spoon:

We're not doing that yet.

David Spoon:

We will do it, but not yet.

David Spoon:

But I want you to pick up on something.

David Spoon:

If you're one of the people that listen to this radio show and you think, you know, I think that would be kind of cool to meet some of the people that I have been fellowshiping over the air with.

David Spoon:

I think that'd be kind of fascinating to do.

David Spoon:

I want you to understand something that is a demonstration of genuine Christian love that you want to meet face to face.

David Spoon:

We haven't set it up yet.

David Spoon:

It's not there yet.

David Spoon:

I promise you, when we do, we will ring the bell loudly and everybody will know.

David Spoon:

But your desire to meet one another, I want you to catch this.

David Spoon:

This is huge.

David Spoon:

Because this is what the apostle's talking about.

David Spoon:

It's enormous.

David Spoon:

It's an enormous testimony because you want to go past this certain element of fellowship and meet face to face.

David Spoon:

And that's exactly.

David Spoon:

Now you know exactly what the Apostle John is talking about.

David Spoon:

He says, I have many things to write to you, but I don't Want to do all with pen and ink.

David Spoon:

I want to see you.

David Spoon:

And that feeling you have about wanting to meet some of the people on this show, it is exactly what John is having.

David Spoon:

And expressing it just shows you that you are in sync with Christian love, Christian fellowship, because you want more, I think, okay, well, let's do it.

David Spoon:

Everything has to be done at its right time.

David Spoon:

In fact, unfortunately for these people, John was going to be 86 in about a year and a half.

David Spoon:

So that didn't work out so great.

David Spoon:

But what I'm trying to tell you is that that whole idea that you want to have people connected to you, that's a good thing, that's a healthy thing.

David Spoon:

And we'll set it up when we believe the Lord really wants it to take place.

David Spoon:

We've gone at it twice and it's not been the right time.

David Spoon:

So we wait on the Lord.

David Spoon:

And he says this, which is so fascinating.

David Spoon:

Listen to this.

David Spoon:

And he says this.

David Spoon:

He concludes the letter by saying, the friends here send you greetings and you should greet your friends there by name.

David Spoon:

So there's two major points out of this.

David Spoon:

One little verse that never gets preached on.

David Spoon:

I just want to point that out.

David Spoon:

There's two major points.

David Spoon:

Your brothers and your sisters are your brothers and your sisters.

David Spoon:

Let me explain that to you.

David Spoon:

You have a spiritual family.

David Spoon:

No, it's not just everybody in your church or denomination.

David Spoon:

That's absurd.

David Spoon:

I mean, that's the height.

David Spoon:

It's almost an arrogancy.

David Spoon:

There are other brothers and sisters in different groups that also belong to the Lord that are his children and they're your relatives.

David Spoon:

You are related to other Christians by blood.

David Spoon:

People go, it's by faith.

David Spoon:

It's by the blood of Jesus that we are related.

David Spoon:

These are your relatives.

David Spoon:

And one of the things that I think people miss, and I was doing this study in first Thessalonians 4.

David Spoon:

Remember, it talks about in one Thessalonians 4 and then 5, how that we will.

David Spoon:

When the dead in Christ rise first, and then we will rise after that.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

The people who are alive are awake when he comes.

David Spoon:

They'll rise after that.

David Spoon:

Do you know that is so profound.

David Spoon:

It's hardly taught about.

David Spoon:

That's going to be a reunion.

David Spoon:

The whole point of him writing the message was, I don't want you to be sad of people that have already died in the faith because you miss them.

David Spoon:

We're going to have a reunion.

David Spoon:

I got a message for you.

David Spoon:

Heaven is going to be an awesome reunion.

David Spoon:

years ago,:

David Spoon:

And we're going to have this incredible reunion with our brothers and our sisters.

David Spoon:

And we're going to be family.

David Spoon:

And no, not everybody's going in.

David Spoon:

Wide is the road to destruction.

David Spoon:

Narrow is the path that leads to righteousness.

David Spoon:

Narrow is the path that leads to eternal life.

David Spoon:

And we're all going to be this so connected family, connected by the Father through the Son, by the Spirit through the Son.

David Spoon:

It's just going to be so awesome.

David Spoon:

And then John says this.

David Spoon:

He goes, look, these are your brothers and sisters.

David Spoon:

And he says that.

David Spoon:

And he says this also.

David Spoon:

He says, you, friends here send you greetings.

David Spoon:

Greet each other.

David Spoon:

Greet each of our friends there by name.

David Spoon:

It's not that your brothers and sisters are just your brothers and sisters.

David Spoon:

I got a message for you.

David Spoon:

Christian people are also supposed to be friends.

David Spoon:

We're supposed to greet them by name.

David Spoon:

It's an excellent way of saying, don't keep distant.

David Spoon:

Don't be so far away.

David Spoon:

Don't know of one another.

David Spoon:

Get to know each other.

David Spoon:

And some of that is what we do on this radio show.

David Spoon:

You get to know people.

David Spoon:

You don't just hear me.

David Spoon:

You hear different people sharing.

David Spoon:

You hear Joanne and Cordelia testifying.

David Spoon:

You hear different brothers.

David Spoon:

You have Samson reaches out and toss us.

David Spoon:

You have all these people.

David Spoon:

Roger again calls in all these different people.

David Spoon:

I can go through the list.

David Spoon:

Believe me, we don't have time to do that.

David Spoon:

But what I'm trying to tell you is this is all us.

David Spoon:

We're a family.

David Spoon:

No, it might not be as tight as your church family.

David Spoon:

In fact, I'm not sure it should be.

David Spoon:

But if you remember, you do have family that you eat with every day.

David Spoon:

And then you have family you meet with, like once a quarter and then maybe once a year.

David Spoon:

That's still all family, you know, all your family that shows up at weddings, that's what I'm talking about.

David Spoon:

Not the ones you see every day.

David Spoon:

And we're a part of that.

David Spoon:

And I want you to recognize that the union of it, the greatness of it, when it takes place, I promise we'll give all the props we can.

David Spoon:

But the fact that you want to meet with people, just what Sergio said.

David Spoon:

Did that happen yet?

David Spoon:

I don't want to miss that, you know, I want to see what's going on with that.

David Spoon:

Because genuine Christian love is a part of his heart, and he wants to, like I Can't wait to meet these people.

David Spoon:

Isn't that cool?

David Spoon:

And we're going to have such a reunion.

David Spoon:

I've got news for you.

David Spoon:

What's coming is so phenomenal, you cannot compare your current trials to it.

David Spoon:

That's how awesome it's going to be in the Lord.

David Spoon:

Yeah, we'll be on our face for a million years saying thank you, Jesus.

David Spoon:

But we also get to see one another, know of one another, embrace with one another and spend eternity with one another.

David Spoon:

It's gonna be awesome.

David Spoon:

Awesome sauce, let me say.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

We'll take our break and then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Your break.

David Spoon:

We'll be back.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Unknown Speaker B:

You may be from a Baptist background, a Pentecostal background, a non denominational background.

Unknown Speaker B:

David Spoon has that, too.

Unknown Speaker B:

You may be from the Church of Christ Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination, but if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, then give David a listen for a while.

Unknown Speaker B:

If you like it, great.

Unknown Speaker B:

If not, no worries.

Unknown Speaker B:

The David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

The David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Let me read this thing from Pastor Ray and then we'll do the trivia question and then we'll see what happens because I have no idea.

David Spoon:

th this year,:

David Spoon:

He's my good friend and I can't wait to see him up in heaven.

David Spoon:

This one's titled Joy, Expectation and Delight.

David Spoon:

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.

David Spoon:

I gain understanding from your precepts.

David Spoon:

Therefore I hate every wrong path.

David Spoon:

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

David Spoon:

This is Pastor Ray's devotional.

David Spoon:

I often see people go through a spiritual drought.

David Spoon:

More than once I have found myself in this dry, dark place where God seems far away and we feel even farther.

David Spoon:

It's like being the children of Israel once again wandering in the wilderness, trying to find our way.

David Spoon:

That's when I cling to the belief that we are being strengthened and matured through it all.

David Spoon:

How we survive the wilderness experience of our lives depends on our attitude towards God's word.

David Spoon:

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, and I get such a kick out of reading it because King David got so excited writing about it.

David Spoon:

Of all the things he gets excited about writing about the laws of God, he sang about them.

David Spoon:

He put statutes of the law to music, he positively exulted in them.

David Spoon:

In Psalm 119, verse 14, he compared God's testimonies to the riches.

David Spoon:

In verse 15 he declared, I will meditate on your precepts.

David Spoon:

In verse 24, he says, Your testimonies are my delight and my counselors.

David Spoon:

David was on to something.

David Spoon:

He loved God's Word, and he knew that the secret to enjoying life even in the wilderness, was to turn to God's Word with joy, expectation, and delight.

David Spoon:

As children we struggle to mature under our parents authority.

David Spoon:

When we're spiritually born again into the family of God, we become children again.

David Spoon:

Reparented oh, what a great line that is reparented by our Heavenly Father as we grow toward maturity and learning to trust Him.

David Spoon:

Allow His Word to light your way and the wilderness will not seem so daunting.

David Spoon:

Let His Word guide your feet and you will never get lost.
