About the Guest:.
David Tapp
It is fair to say that ‘Tappy’ grew up in a sports broadcasting box. Australian Sport is in his blood, and having spent his entire life mastering the art of broadcasting, journalism and media production, David is one of Australia’s most respected sporting voices.
David’s impressive career includes acting as the Head of Sport for the Macquarie Radio Network, winning the Confederation of Australian Motorsport Media Member of the Year multiple times, and from 2002 to 2005 he was also the CEO of the South Sydney Rabbitohs National Rugby League Franchise.
As a sports broadcaster David has made an indelible mark across the globe. This includes being the head caller for the Rugby League Women’s World Cup, the NRL Touch Football World Cup, the OZ Tag World Cup, the Wheelchair Rugby World Cup, the Speedway FIM World Championships, the Grand Prix Road-Racing World Championship (Moto GP), NRL Rugby League, NSW Cup Rugby League, World Cup Soccer qualifiers and even the World Ice Hockey Championship. One of the highlights from David’s broadcasting career also includes calling the Bathurst 1000 Classic as a part of the Seven Networks’ coverage alongside Australian legend Peter Brock.
He has also hosted and produced hundreds of sports television shows for Fox Sports, Network Ten, Nine Network, Sky Racing and SBS. His Radio career is equally impressive, broadcasting for both Radio 2KY and 2GB over two decades.
Never one to rest on his laurels, David is also a successful entrepreneur having built a thriving television production business, Power Productions, specialising in the production of sports TV programs, facilitating live sports coverage for networks globally and in more recent years, live streaming. His company also dabbles in music productions.
David has also staged many of his own sporting events - and for a number of years, he toured Australia every summer promoting the biggest international speedway motorcycle series in the world, featuring riders from the Australia, USA, England, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Finland, Argentina and Poland.
David describes his two great passions, as being sports broadcasting and performing live music with his highly successful band, Midlife Crisis. Last year David wrote, produced and performed his own original song, I Just Wanna Miss You, available for download on all the usual platforms.
