Speaker A:

Good morning.

Speaker A:

It's Haystack.

Speaker A:

And this August 26th, we are celebrating National Dog Day.

Speaker A:

Hey, guys, you ready to let the dogs out?

Speaker A:

Yes, we are ready to let the dogs out.

Speaker A:

Okay, show me one way in which cats are better than dogs.

Speaker A:

Dogs are mysterious.

Speaker A:

Dogs are outstanding.

Speaker A:

Dogs are better than wives.

Speaker A:

Dog, dog, dog, all day long.

Speaker A:

What is it?

Speaker A:

National Dog Day?

Speaker A:

Dog Day?

Speaker A:

It's National Dog Day.

Speaker A:

Every dog eventually has his day.

Speaker A:

Yeah, every dog has its day.

Speaker A:

Happy National Dog day.

Speaker A:

It's showtime.

Speaker A:

45% of Americans.

Speaker A:

Americans have a dog versus 32% who own cats.

Speaker A:

A new poll finds that if you look at pet owners, there's.

Speaker A:

There's some overlap, but a new poll by Hills, I think that's the Hill Science diet.

Speaker A:

People looked at how we're most likely to get a dog in our favorite dog sizes.

Speaker A:

So which type of dog, what size dog I should say is your favorite, and how did you get your dog?

Speaker A:

It's actually not from a shelter or a pet store or a breeder, unless that breeder is a friend or family member.

Speaker A:

One third.

Speaker A:

A full one third of dog owners got their last dog from a friend or family member.

Speaker A:

A fourth of dog owners brought their pooch home from the shelter or a breeder.

Speaker A:

18% from a pet store, and 10% found their dog as a stray.

Speaker A:

Aw.

Speaker A:

The biggest difference in how we come to have dogs versus cats is that stray thing.

Speaker A:

22% of cat owners got their cat when it just strolled into their life off the street.

Speaker A:

Anyway, back to dogs.

Speaker A:

The poll looked at different sizes of dogs to see what our favorite is.

Speaker A:

Or so if you're, if you're a medium dog person, you're in the majority.

Speaker A:

Medium is anywhere from 26 to 54 pounds, according to this.

Speaker A:

And that's the most popular dog size.

Speaker A:

Small dogs are next.

Speaker A:

And just a fourth of us say we would want a big dog.

Speaker A:

Most say they don't have enough room for one or they're harder to travel with or they're more expensive to feed.

Speaker A:

Also, whether you can keep up with them, when you looked at the people who wanted a big dog, about a third of people under 45 said they would get a big dog.

Speaker A:

Just 18% of people older than 45 are open to a big dog.

Speaker A:

Now, in honor of our furry and faithful and fun loving, forever friends, I am going to now present to you the list of the top six things we learned from our dogs.

Speaker A:

Well, gather round, folks.

Speaker A:

It's the time of day when we laugh and smile in a lighthearted way.

Speaker A:

Tune in for the giggles and let's kick back.

Speaker A:

Here comes the fun.

Speaker A:

It's the morning six pack.

Speaker A:

These are the top six things we learn learn from our dogs.

Speaker A:

6.

Speaker A:

Post poop leg kicks are a great way to stay limber.

Speaker A:

5.

Speaker A:

Forget reading or taking melatonin.

Speaker A:

The best way to guarantee sleep is spinning three times before laying down.

Speaker A:

4.

Speaker A:

Squirrels were born when Satan impregnated a rat.

Speaker A:

3.

Speaker A:

Wait until you're in front of a bunch of house guests before you drag your butt across the carpet.

Speaker A:

Number two Heaven is a rolled down car window.

Speaker A:

And the number one thing that we learned from our dogs why waste time wooing a mate when you can spend every night just having your way with a throw pillow?
