[0:00] Hello, this is Sky. You're hearing my own voice. And I'll be here with you until sleep. You don't need to listen closely. You can drift off whenever you like. There's nothing to get right tonight. For now, just let yourself be held by the sound of my voice. Let's begin. If this podcast has been keeping you company at night and you'd like to support me directly, membership is a beautiful way to do that. It includes ad-free listening and exclusive sleep stories. And it helps me continue sharing these calm little spaces with you. The link is in the description.
[1:28] I'm so glad you found your way here again.
[1:36] Perhaps you're listening at the end of a full day. Or perhaps time has already begun to soften. A little around you.
[1:59] Whatever has brought you here tonight, there's nowhere else you need to be for a little while. Nothing to work out. Nothing to understand. Nothing to achieve before sleep comes. And, as always, there's no right way to listen. You may find yourself following every word for a while. Or perhaps your attention drifts. Perhaps you hear only little pieces before sleep begins to gather around you. However this time unfolds, it is enough.
[3:19] This evening, I'd like to invite you back to the old manor house. Perhaps, after our time together in the library, it already feels a little familiar, not because you've memorized it, but because something in you remembers its pace, its quietness, the way nothing there or ask you to hurry. And perhaps tonight, rather than walking toward the front door, our feet naturally follow the same old path for a little while.
[4:31] The gravel is familiar now. The trees seem to know the shape of the evening. And the air carries that gentle feeling that comes just before sunset.
[4:59] When the warmth of the day hasn't quite disappeared. And the coolness of evening hasn't quite arrived yet. There can be something very particular about that moment.
[5:26] Not one thing becoming another, but both existing together for a little while warmth and coolness, light, and the beginning of shadow, the day, already making room for the night, perhaps you notice the rhythm of walking, not trying to walk slowly.
[6:18] Simply allowing walking to happen at its own pace. The body has known how to do this for a very long time. Long before there was anything to think about. One foot meeting the earth. Weight gently shifting, the other foot following, without needing instruction.
[7:05] Without needing improvement. And perhaps, there's something quietly reassuring, in remembering that not everything needs our thinking. Some things already know how. The path curves gently, just as it did before.
[7:47] Old beech trees stand a little way apart, their branches reaching toward one another without quite touching, the evening light filters through thousands of leaves, not dramatically, just enough that some leaves seem almost translucent for a moment, before becoming green again as a small breeze moves them. And perhaps you notice, or perhaps simply imagine, that particular sound leaves make when they move together. Not wind, Not rustling exactly. More like many small conversations happening all at once.
[9:15] None of them asking to be understood, only heard. There are birds settling somewhere nearby. The day birds are becoming quieter now.
[9:41] One or two still calling across the gardens, a robin, perhaps a blackbird, their songs no longer filling the air, simply offering themselves now and then, leaving long stretches of quiet between each note. And perhaps that too begins to influence the pace of attention. Not continuous, this, not needing to be, just arriving, then resting, arriving, then resting again, and.
