How did we become so available online and so unavailable to each other? A conversation with my father-in-law got me thinking about four experiences of loneliness: the lonely single, the lonely spouse, the lonely survivor, and the lonely senior. You can be married, share a home and a life with someone, and still feel emotionally disconnected. You can have friends and still desire deeper relationships.
In this episode, I explore how our culture keeps us disconnected and practical ways to seek connection when you’re lonely.
In This Episode, You’ll Learn:
- How loneliness can show up in singleness, marriage, loss, and aging.
- Why having friends doesn’t always mean you feel known.
- How cultural expectations can make it harder to admit you need people.
- Practical steps toward closer relationships, both through reaching out and showing up for others.
