Shownotes

On this episode of the Food About Town podcast, my wife Carrie Lindstrom from Crazdude Art and Design made the long walk over to the studio to talk about our trip to Toronto on the coldest day of the year! We jammed in an absolute ton of food and drink experiences over a few short hours and we recapped our whirlwind trip here on the podcast.

This is the fifth episode of my goal to release a new episode every week of 2018. Just finished up a new recording last night to keep the queue chock full of new content for everyone!

This episode is brought to you by Phrankly. Phrankly is working to make sourcing and distribution for restaurants, farms and specialty goods more transparent and change the way people find their food.

We got into town right after lunch time on a Saturday and got right to it. Our agenda is below but all the details can be found if you listen to us recount all the layers we were wearing and all the adventures we had on a true 0°F day in a fantastic city.

St Lawrence Market – Peameal Bacon Sandwich at Carousel Bakery, Oysters at a Seafood Stand, Green Smoothie

La Cubana (Ossington) – Chicken Medianoche sandwich, black beans and rice

Bellwoods Brewery – went to the take out spot next to the brewpub for Jelly King Regular and Blood Orange, Roman Candle and Monogamy Simcoe

Bar Raval – Spanish pinxtos bar, grilled octopus/potatoes/paprika/olive oil, snails/mushrooms/bacon/butter, tomato bread, sherry

Grey Gardens – Jen Agg owned restaurant, Spanish orange wine, German riesling, smoked fish dip/chips, seabass crudo/turnip puree/ crispy leeks/dill, great enviornment

The Black Hoof – Jen Agg cocktail and neighborhood restaurant, horse tartare was perfectly balanced and textured, comfortable

Left Field Brewery – grabbed a flight (hibiscus and raspberry gose, Sweet Jesus mocha and marshmallow stout and a general good variety) and some cans and bottles to bring back, great local beer spot

Momofuku Noodle Bar – went classic for our first visit for pork ramen and pork belly buns, finished things off with the crack pie soft serve, stylish and completely unique vibe
