Dr Elisabeth Philipps PhD, BSc Hons, BSc Nutr Med

Elisabeth is a Neuropharmacologist and Functional Medicine nutrition practitioner with over 18 years experience. She runs a thriving health consultancy (www.hartwellnutrition.co.uk) specialising in brain and gut health, where she provides expert opinion for private clients, practitioners and doctors, the national media, specialist healthcare publications and health companies.

Elisabeth’s extensive academic training includes a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science (Kings College London); PhD in neuropharmacology (Oxford University) and BSc in Nutritional Medicine, which combined means she has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience in translating medical and scientific research into straightforward and achievable clinical outcomes to improve health, performance and recovery.

Elisabeth’s passion for all things neuroscience now encompasses CBD. She is a leading expert in the mechanisms of action and applications of this hemp-based product and the human endocannabinoid system that has been causing a health revolution in the last couple of years and she specialises in debunking the myths surrounding this natural plant-based product.

The legalisation of CBD in 2018 and its place on the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) permitted substance list means this plant product has many potential applications. Elisabeth conducts scientific and clinical research into its many uses and actively promotes quality CBD products in professional sport, as she has seen first hand how CBD products support the recovery and performance of athletes, as well as for those wishing to support their health.

Dr Elisabeth Philipps will be presenting alongside professional rugby players George Kruis and Dom Day about the research and use of CBD for sports performance.

George Kruis Professional Rugby Player & Co-founder fourfivecbd

A line-out wizard and at the heart of the engine room for club and country, George Kruis is a the top of his rugby game. Coming through the Saracens Academy, after developing his game at his school and local rugby club, George has gone on to become a vital cog in Saracens making over 180 senior appearances since his debut in 2009 winning 4 European titles and 5 Premiership trophies.

George achieved his first senior England cap in the 2014, going on to play in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and win back-to-back Six Nations titles in 2016 and 2017. He was also selected in the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand and has recently formed a crucial part of the England team second row in the Rugby World Cup in Japan 2019 and current 2020 Six Nations team.

George’s stellar rugby career is still going strong but he’s the first to admit that it has come at a cost to his physical health. After undergoing seven operations to date, relating to his rugby career, George turned to CBD oil, on the recommendation of his Saracens teammate Dom Day. After they both experienced the benefits of CBD oil first hand, George and Dom co-founded fourfivecbd providing high-grade CBD products for athletes and active people, including 0% THC CBD oil and muscle rub, which has been rigorously tested by BSCG for cross-contamination of over 400 banned substances.

George Kruis will be presenting alongside Dom Day and Dr Elisabeth Philipps about the use of CBD for sports performance.

Dominic Day – retired Wales and Saracens Rugby Player and co-founder fourfivecbd

Dom Day enjoyed a stellar rugby career playing for Wales and several UK and international club sides spanning over a decade before his final two years playing club rugby at Saracens alongside his second row team mate George Kruis.

Dom came across CBD when he went through surgery at the beginning of 2018 and the World Anti Doping Association (WADA) had removed CBD from their prohibited list. After experiencing the genuine benefits for maintaining an active lifestyle during their highs and lows of their rugby careers, he passed on the message to Saracens teammate and business partner George Kruis (England, British Lion and Saracens rugby player) when he too needed surgery a few months later.

Being professional athletes themselves, George and Dom understand the importance of what they put in their bodies. They are now committed to providing the highest-grade natural CBD products for athletes and active people alike through their company fourfivecbd, including 0% THC CBD oil and muscle rub, which has been rigorously tested by BSCG for cross-contamination of over 400 banned substances.

Dom Day will be presenting alongside George Kruis and Dr Elisabeth Philipps about the use of CBD for sports performance.
