I love the encouragement we find in Christian spaces—the smiles, the hope, the uplifting moments. But sometimes I wonder if we can accidentally make faith look a little like an Instagram highlight reel, where everything seems positive, polished, and put together.

The truth is, sometimes life hurts. There are hard marriages, losses, addictions, anxious days, and moments when we’re simply not okay. We don’t have to pretend those things aren’t real in order to have faith.

Our hope isn’t that Christians always have a smile on their face. Our hope is that Jesus meets us right in the middle of the real, messy parts of life. He doesn’t ask us to create a highlight reel. He reminds us that even here, in a broken world, we can have peace because He is with us.

Scripture (NIV):

John 16:33 — “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Do I ever feel pressure to look like everything is okay when it isn’t?

Who in my life gives me space to be honest about what I’m really carrying?

What would it look like to invite Jesus into the messy part of my life today?
