Shownotes

Dr. David Spoon dives deep into the theological insights of Colossians in this engaging podcast episode, highlighting the essential truth that reconciliation with God comes solely through the blood of Jesus Christ. As he explores Colossians 1:19-20, Spoon emphasizes that it is through Jesus’ sacrifice that peace is made between heaven and earth, making Him the ultimate connection between humanity and the divine. The discussion also touches on the importance of faith, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the necessity of ongoing spiritual growth. Spoon shares personal anecdotes and reflections, creating a relatable atmosphere as he encourages listeners to recognize the fullness of God's grace available to them. With a blend of humor and heartfelt sincerity, this episode invites all to strengthen their relationship with God and live out their faith boldly.

Takeaways:

  • Understanding the importance of faith requires a continual belief rather than a momentary one.
  • Our justification and sanctification through Jesus Christ allow us to be with the Lord eternally.
  • The fullness of God dwells in Jesus, enabling reconciliation between heaven and earth.
  • Prayer is about connecting with God, not merely following tradition or rituals.
  • Jesus is the only way to reconcile with God, emphasizing the significance of His sacrifice.
  • The relationship with God is active and involves consistently seeking His presence daily.

Engaging and insightful, David Spoon’s latest episode of The David Spoon Experience delves into the rich theological themes found in the Book of Colossians. His focus on Colossians 1:19 serves as a springboard for a deeper discussion about the transformative power of Christ’s sacrifice. Spoon articulates the critical importance of understanding how believers transition from being alienated from God to being reconciled through the blood of Jesus. He emphasizes that this reconciliation is not a one-time event but an ongoing journey that requires active faith, encouraging listeners to cultivate a relationship with God that is vibrant and enduring. He challenges the notion that belief is simply a momentary act, urging a continuous commitment to faith.

Spoon’s personal testimony adds a poignant layer to the discussion, as he shares his background and the impact of faith on his life. His journey from a Jewish upbringing to embracing Christianity illustrates the profound changes that faith can bring. By sharing his story, he not only connects with his audience but also highlights the importance of personal testimony in encouraging others. The episode becomes a celebration of community as Spoon invites listeners to engage in mutual support through prayer and fellowship, reminding them of the biblical call to bear one another’s burdens and fulfill the law of Christ.

The conversation also addresses some theological nuances regarding the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. Spoon articulates the distinction between receiving the Holy Spirit at conversion and being filled with the Spirit continually. He discusses the importance of prayer as a means of deepening this connection with God and emphasizes that while believers have access to the fullness of God through Christ, the experience of being filled is essential for living out one’s faith effectively. The rich theological insights, combined with Spoon’s relatable storytelling and humor, create an engaging narrative that encourages listeners to deepen their faith and actively participate in their spiritual journeys.

Transcripts

David Spoon:

And now for something completely different.

David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

David Spoon:

It's Expository Thursday.

David Spoon:

Expository Thursday.

David Spoon:

As we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians, we travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.

David Spoon:

First, we're going to pick it back up in Colossians 1:21, although we'll take a quick detour back to verse 19.

David Spoon:

But this is where Paul is writing the Church at Colossae, and he makes the strongest theological argument for Christology, which means the study of Christ.

David Spoon:

This is one of the most powerful elements in the New Testament.

David Spoon:

He points out that once we were alienated from God, hostile in our minds.

David Spoon:

The key component to understanding spiritual warfare and walking closely with the Lord has to do with what we allow between our left and right ear.

David Spoon:

Next, the reason for our justification, sanctification and eventual glorification is to present us holy, unblemished and blameless in the presence of the Father.

David Spoon:

In more simplistic terms, we are justified, sanctified and glorified through the work of Jesus Christ so we can be with our Heavenly Father.

David Spoon:

We are given this gift so that we can be forever present with the Lord.

David Spoon:

And finally, in verse 23, ouch.

David Spoon:

As Colossians chapter one gives us a major caveat which people tend to ignore.

David Spoon:

It's not even that complex.

David Spoon:

It doesn't change the framework of grace or the framework of mercy.

David Spoon:

It says, if indeed we continue in our faith, let's stop with the nonsense.

David Spoon:

Our faith is how we receive the love of God extended to us through his grace, through Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

But it's based on our continual belief of that and not just a momentary belief.

David Spoon:

Local, national and heavenly talk.

David Spoon:

Here's what else we're looking at during the show.

David Spoon:

Lessons for surviving, living and prevailing all processes of our walk.

David Spoon:

Politics, entertainment and current events.

David Spoon:

Personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities and oy they so much more.

David Spoon:

Now remember, it's not professional radio now how do you know that?

David Spoon:

We've told you 10,000 times.

David Spoon:

It's just not perfection.

David Spoon:

It's just radio.

David Spoon:

That's all it is.

David Spoon:

We're just fellowshipping together through the Internet, through the radio, through telephone.

David Spoon:

That's all.

David Spoon:

We're just having fellowship together.

David Spoon:

I'm not your pastor.

David Spoon:

I your brother.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

Just that simple.

David Spoon:

And what we want you to be aware of is that we are concerned for one another.

David Spoon:

The Bible says that if we carry the burdens of one another, we will fulfill the law of Christ.

David Spoon:

Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2.

David Spoon:

That means that we take care of one another, love one another, care for one another, strengthen one another, bless one another, pray for one another.

David Spoon:

That's what the Lord calls us to.

David Spoon:

So we want to know how you're doing, because that helps us to accomplish that.

David Spoon:

You can email us directly david must increase.org that's david must increase.org you can text directly right to us right on the show.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or.

David Spoon:

Oh, you can call us.

David Spoon:

Yep.

David Spoon:

Nope, actually, you can actually do that.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Talking to Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

That's the same feeling you get when you know you're being appreciated.

David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday.

David Spoon:

Thursday.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday to you.

David Spoon:

Not a lot for you to do in that last half hour, was there?

David Spoon:

Not a lot, no.

David Spoon:

Just sit back and listen.

David Spoon:

That's what I was doing.

David Spoon:

Sometime every once in a while, I get on one of those.

David Spoon:

Leave me alone.

David Spoon:

I'm just going to teach.

David Spoon:

Yep, just lay back and you're rolling.

David Spoon:

So just let you roll.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

I do want to thank our very own Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

So today I was able to get in and we did more of the book.

David Spoon:

So we are now.

David Spoon:

Listen to this.

David Spoon:

89% done with the book, the faith that pleases God on audio.

David Spoon:

And so I'm very excited to get that done before my daughter comes into town and making it like a present for her.

David Spoon:

We've done this for 44 days, and we are that much closer.

David Spoon:

We are about three months ahead of the last book.

David Spoon:

So that's pretty good.

David Spoon:

That's pretty good on the timing point of view.

David Spoon:

So I just want to thank Jim and Jacob, for getting that done.

David Spoon:

Very, very good job.

David Spoon:

Okay, now, why would you text us?

David Spoon:

Why would you call us?

David Spoon:

Why would you email us?

David Spoon:

It could be for a praise report, and we love praise reports.

David Spoon:

It can be for a prayer request.

David Spoon:

As you can tell, we're into praying.

David Spoon:

We think it's cool.

David Spoon:

We think it's awesome that when we're praying, just think of when Jesus said he's teaching his disciples on the Sermon on the Mount.

David Spoon:

He's teaching them to pray, and he's giving them all this insight.

David Spoon:

And on the Sermon on the Mount, it's like this.

David Spoon:

And when you pray, follow it in this way, in this model, in this approach.

David Spoon:

Father, who art thou in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

David Spoon:

So you get.

David Spoon:

Okay, you pray to the Father, right?

David Spoon:

Who are you praying for?

David Spoon:

The Father.

David Spoon:

It's not to the mother or something.

David Spoon:

It's to the Father.

David Spoon:

God knows what gender he is.

David Spoon:

It's so dumb.

David Spoon:

He doesn't have a gender, but he references himself as a male 10,000 times in the scripture, so be quiet.

David Spoon:

So, our Father, who art thou in heaven?

David Spoon:

Where is he?

David Spoon:

In heaven.

David Spoon:

Oh, cool.

David Spoon:

Hallowed be thy name.

David Spoon:

Glory, honor, praise, acknowledgement, holiness unto thy name.

David Spoon:

Glory to God first.

David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

What do you mean?

David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come where God is king.

David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

David Spoon:

That's what prayer is about.

David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

David Spoon:

That's what prayer does.

David Spoon:

And so if you've got a prayer request, let's follow what Jesus set up.

David Spoon:

If you got a praise report, let's share.

David Spoon:

If you've got a scripture you want to share, let's.

David Spoon:

Let's hear it.

David Spoon:

Let's hear what the Lord's giving you.

David Spoon:

Hey, Dave, I was looking at sunset and I just realized how powerful God.

David Spoon:

Great.

David Spoon:

Share it.

David Spoon:

That's cool.

David Spoon:

People love stuff like that.

David Spoon:

We also do Bible trivia.

David Spoon:

Why?

David Spoon:

Because it's fun.

David Spoon:

Because we've done 15,000 questions in 12 years.

David Spoon:

That's why.

David Spoon:

And it's fun.

David Spoon:

Here's your Bible trivia.

David Spoon:

You guys should get this.

David Spoon:

This is a pretty easy one.

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of one crying in the wilderness that the prophet Isaiah spoke of?

David Spoon:

Matthew 3:3 4.

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of one crying in the wilderness?

David Spoon:

Who was that?

David Spoon:

Matthew 3:3 4.

David Spoon:

If you think you know who the voice of one crying in the wilderness was that Isaiah spoke of?

David Spoon:

Matthew 3:3 4.

David Spoon:

If you know, reach out to us.

David Spoon:

972.

David Spoon:

4450 770.

David Spoon:

That's:

David Spoon:

450770.

David Spoon:

Additionally, you can text in.

David Spoon:

Texting is good.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Additionally, you can send an email.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

David must increase.org that's David must increase.org the straightforward question.

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of one crying in the wilderness that the prophet Isaiah spoke of?

David Spoon:

Your reference point, Matthew, chapter three, verses three through four.

David Spoon:

That is the question we are asking couple things to remind you about.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

So I'm telling you this now ahead of time.

David Spoon:

We're going to be finishing the audiobook in the next week or so.

David Spoon:

If you go to the website at all and you want one of the books in audio format, the ones that are there now, which is two of them or three of them, or if you want a written book and you can't afford it, all you have to do is send us an email.

David Spoon:

That's it.

David Spoon:

And we will get it for you and send it to you because I'd rather you have it.

David Spoon:

And it's not.

David Spoon:

Listen, none of the books that I wrote, none of them are brilliant.

David Spoon:

They're not theologically astute, none of that.

David Spoon:

But they will encourage you to get closer to the Lord.

David Spoon:

They're not the Bible.

David Spoon:

It's not prayer, it's not fellowship.

David Spoon:

But they're points of encouragement to help.

David Spoon:

That's what they're designed to be.

David Spoon:

So you are welcome to them.

David Spoon:

That's how we feel about it, okay?

David Spoon:

That's how we approach it.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of one crying in the wilderness that the prophet Isaiah spoke of?

David Spoon:

We do have somebody on the line, is that correct?

David Spoon:

I'm looking to see where Jacob is.

David Spoon:

Do we do have somebody on the line?

David Spoon:

Yes.

David Spoon:

Okay, let's go ahead and send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Bobby:

Hello, David.

Bobby:

This is Bobby.

David Spoon:

Hey, Bobby, how are you?

Bobby:

I'm doing great.

David Spoon:

That is great to hear.

David Spoon:

I'm glad to hear that, my brother.

David Spoon:

It's awesome to hear your voice.

Bobby:

I get to check in every now and then.

Bobby:

Most of the time I just listen.

David Spoon:

You just want.

David Spoon:

I just want to make sure they know I'm listening.

David Spoon:

I just want to check in, make sure everybody knows it's all good.

David Spoon:

I love it.

David Spoon:

All right, my brother, let me set it up for you and you can answer.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of 1 according to Matthew 3, 3 and 4?

David Spoon:

Who was the voice of one crying in the wilderness that Isaiah spoke of?

David Spoon:

Who was that?

Bobby:

Oh, that was Jesus.

Bobby:

Crazy cousin John the Baptizer.

David Spoon:

That is correct.

David Spoon:

I like that.

David Spoon:

That was his crazy cousin.

David Spoon:

That's great.

David Spoon:

That was a unique family, huh?

David Spoon:

Oh, yeah.

Bobby:

Locust and honey.

Bobby:

I can handle the honey, but not the locust so much.

David Spoon:

I know.

David Spoon:

It's like, what?

David Spoon:

I'll tell you what.

David Spoon:

I'll take the liquid.

David Spoon:

I'll stick with the liquid.

David Spoon:

Excellent job, Bobby.

David Spoon:

Excellent, excellent job.

David Spoon:

Super, super great.

David Spoon:

I appreciate you, brother.

Bobby:

Thank you.

Bobby:

You have a good day.

Bobby:

And the rest of y'all out there, God bless you.

David Spoon:

God bless you, Bobby.

David Spoon:

All right, Bye, bye, Bye, bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Great, great, great call.

David Spoon:

All right, let's do our DNA.

David Spoon:

People are like, you know, you do DNA a lot?

David Spoon:

Yep.

David Spoon:

Here's my answer.

David Spoon:

Yep.

David Spoon:

Why do you do it a lot?

David Spoon:

Cuz.

David Spoon:

See, that's just the best answer.

David Spoon:

Why do you do a lot?

David Spoon:

Cuz.

David Spoon:

Cause it's important.

David Spoon:

That's why.

David Spoon:

Here we go.

David Spoon:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

Daily.

David Spoon:

I mean, every day that you wake up, it's somewhere between waking up.

David Spoon:

Now, I'll give you.

David Spoon:

I'll give this to you, okay?

David Spoon:

And I don't have a problem with this.

David Spoon:

I don't have any problem with you saying, I'm not up until I get out of bed.

David Spoon:

And some of you are a little worse.

David Spoon:

Just be honest.

David Spoon:

I'm not up until I have my sip of coffee.

David Spoon:

There's a classic line in many radio stations.

David Spoon:

Redemption and forgiveness is in the blood, but waking up is in the coffee and caffeine.

David Spoon:

Okay, that's true for some people.

David Spoon:

We know.

David Spoon:

That's true.

David Spoon:

That's great.

David Spoon:

No problem.

David Spoon:

I got zero.

David Spoon:

Sometime between waking up and before going to bed, Sometime in between it all, even though they used to pray morning, afternoon, and evening.

David Spoon:

Sometime in between the very beginning and the very end.

David Spoon:

Sometime between the first and the last.

David Spoon:

Place yourself in the presence of the Lord.

David Spoon:

Now, when you pray, I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but Jesus is right there with you, listening.

David Spoon:

The Holy Spirit is inside of you, connecting between the Father, Son, and the Spirit.

David Spoon:

And that's a powerful, powerful infusion of God in your life when you read the Word of God.

David Spoon:

And let me say this about that reading for the purpose of hearing.

David Spoon:

And I should say praying for the purpose of connecting.

David Spoon:

Not praying so that you can follow some tradition, but praying to connect and reading to hear.

David Spoon:

The breath of God falls upon you, and you engage with God.

David Spoon:

And that, my friends, that should be your oxygen to live each and every day.

David Spoon:

Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

D N Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, so I'll drop a little small hint in there.

David Spoon:

There are some people that are attempting to rewrite the Bible right now, excluding God from the entire Bible.

David Spoon:

And I am not kidding you.

David Spoon:

It's like, oh my.

David Spoon:

I don't know if there's a level of hell that I am aware of that these people should not go through.

David Spoon:

I mean, it's just crazy, crazy stuff.

David Spoon:

Hey, I am not ashamed of the word of God.

David Spoon:

God created the universe.

David Spoon:

The dude can write a book.

David Spoon:

I have no problem understanding that.

David Spoon:

And when man thinks he knows more than God, he is committing the exact same sin that Adam and Eve did in the garden.

David Spoon:

Isn't it funny how it doesn't really change much?

David Spoon:

Hmm, interesting.

David Spoon:

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

Regardless of what the world or the worldly or the academics or actors or politicians or anybody or academia, anything.

David Spoon:

Who cares what the media says?

David Spoon:

Who cares?

David Spoon:

They lie every other day, every other hour, every other sentence.

David Spoon:

You want the truth?

David Spoon:

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

David Spoon:

And no man comes to the Father but by Him.

David Spoon:

Just think of this.

David Spoon:

Heaven is God's house and Jesus is the door.

David Spoon:

You want to go into God's house?

David Spoon:

Jesus is the door.

David Spoon:

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

Oh, that's so offensive.

David Spoon:

Tough.

David Spoon:

Too bad you become God and change it.

David Spoon:

Until then, be quiet.

David Spoon:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

A Always be ready to serve.

David Spoon:

Ready.

David Spoon:

Ready to serve.

David Spoon:

Just on it.

David Spoon:

Just thinking about it.

David Spoon:

Just having your mind and heart there.

David Spoon:

I find that there's moments of service that the Lord wants from me that are just not the times that I would select.

David Spoon:

Is that a nice way to say that?

David Spoon:

In other words, there's times where the Lord may want me to be aware of something and my brain is somewhere else.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

And that's what the Lord is calling us to be.

David Spoon:

To be more heavenly minded than selfish minded.

David Spoon:

And I, ironically, have learned more about the Lord when he uses me in times I'm not ready than I've ever learned when I'm fully prepped.

David Spoon:

Because that's when you really see the grace of God.

David Spoon:

Isn't that cool?

David Spoon:

That's just cool.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

A.

David Spoon:

Always be ready to serve.

David Spoon:

We'll take a short break and then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on KAM 770 the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break.

David Spoon:

We'll be back.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

David Spoon:

The David spoon experience verse 39.

David Spoon:

When they came up out of the water, the spirit of the Lord caught Philip away.

David Spoon:

The eunuch never saw him again, but went on his way, rejoicing.

David Spoon:

Verse 40.

David Spoon:

Meanwhile, Philip found himself farther north at the city of Azotus.

David Spoon:

He preached the good news there and in every city along the way until he came to Caesarea.

David Spoon:

He was in Caesarea, by the way, for 20 years, which explains why he had the daughters.

David Spoon:

But here's what I want you to catch.

David Spoon:

While he was en route, he landed in Zotus.

David Spoon:

However he got from point A to point B is amazing.

David Spoon:

We don't even know.

David Spoon:

But what he did was he preached the Gospel in every city along the way until he came to his destination.

David Spoon:

And if you cannot recognize that is a testimony from God saying, you take the Gospel wherever you go until you reach your destination, which is either you being called up to the Lord personally, corporately, or however it's going to take place.

David Spoon:

Every place we go, everywhere we are, we take the Gospel.

David Spoon:

That does not mean you grab a microphone.

David Spoon:

It does not mean you grab some kind of bullhorn and scream at people with the Gospel.

David Spoon:

You just make sure that you are sensitive.

David Spoon:

That's the very DNA we talk about all the time.

David Spoon:

You're sensitive to the Lord.

David Spoon:

You're taking the Gospel with you wherever you go.

David Spoon:

You're recognizing that wherever you go might have a one time encounter with somebody and they might make a decision for Jesus just based on that encounter.

David Spoon:

Noel and I had that exact thing happen on our way from San Diego to Rockwell to Fate.

David Spoon:

And we met somebody from a hotel that we were at and talked to them one time and prayed with her and she became a Christian and we never saw her again.

David Spoon:

It's not our call.

David Spoon:

It's up to the Lord.

David Spoon:

Just be available.

David Spoon:

You don't have to be.

David Spoon:

That's the word I'm looking for.

David Spoon:

You don't have to be Billy Graham.

David Spoon:

Like I said, Billy Graham wasn't Billy Graham.

David Spoon:

In other words, just be yourself, be available.

David Spoon:

You never know what the Lord will do and how he'll use that.

David Spoon:

Okay, that's what's so cool about this test.

David Spoon:

Now we finished up to chapter eight.

David Spoon:

Now Acts, chapter nine.

David Spoon:

We're going into Saul.

David Spoon:

And that is some serious stuff.

David Spoon:

Here is the trivia question.

David Spoon:

What was the affliction of the woman who was touched, who touched the hem of Jesus robe and she had an issue with bleeding, an issue of blood for quite some time, as we know, 12 years.

David Spoon:

The issue of blood.

David Spoon:

That is what she sought the Lord for.

David Spoon:

And she touched him and then Jesus healed her physically, socially, psychologically, and emotionally all together at one time.

David Spoon:

Isn't that cool?

David Spoon:

Jesus is cool.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's K double amen.

David Spoon:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas, where I'm mad at my tea bag because in my tea, my second teabag went poof.

David Spoon:

And now my tea is full of all those little floaty things.

David Spoon:

Don't you hate that?

David Spoon:

It's like, it's like, wait.

David Spoon:

Oh, come on.

David Spoon:

So if I'm drinking my tea, there's stuff that gets, like, stuck in my tea.

David Spoon:

So if you hear me go, you know what's going on?

David Spoon:

Just telling you ahead of time.

David Spoon:

All right, here's your.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

That's the class that this show has right there.

David Spoon:

Here's your next trivia question.

David Spoon:

Which prophet in the Old Testament prophesied about the day of Pentecost?

David Spoon:

Now, we did this a month ago, but this will tell me if you're listening, which I can't tell you.

David Spoon:

I can tell you where it is in the New Testament.

David Spoon:

Acts, chapter 2, verses 16 and 17.

David Spoon:

Acts, chapter 2, verses sixteen and seventeen.

David Spoon:

Which Prophet prophesied the day of Pentecost in the Old Testament?

David Spoon:

It was a minor prophet.

David Spoon:

Minor only means smaller in size of content.

David Spoon:

Doesn't mean he was less important.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Never think of that.

David Spoon:

So major prophets are longer texts.

David Spoon:

Minor prophets are shorter texts.

David Spoon:

Okay, okay, okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Which prophet prophesied the day of Pentecost?

David Spoon:

Your New Testament reference.

David Spoon:

Acts, chapter two, verses 16 and 17.

David Spoon:

If you think, you know, we'll give you that opportunity.

David Spoon:

Or send an email david@he must increase.org Yes, I do seem to be a little bit more.

David Spoon:

What's the word I'm looking for?

David Spoon:

Full of energy, vim and vigor kind of thing.

David Spoon:

And I think it's because I took a couple days off from working out, which was really kind of nice.

David Spoon:

And so just feeling it in the Lord.

David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

David Spoon:

So I do want to do this.

David Spoon:

We did this a little bit Last week, but I didn't finish.

David Spoon:

And so because I didn't finish, I love going back and making sure that I get it as thorough as possible.

David Spoon:

We are actually in the Book of Colossians, so if you have not listened to it, that's all right.

David Spoon:

You'll be able to pick it up from where we're at.

David Spoon:

And we're technically supposed to be starting at verse 21.

David Spoon:

That's our technical starting point.

David Spoon:

But we're actually going to pick it up actually at verse 19, because I want you to put up with me for a little while while I do this.

David Spoon:

It's just one of these things that I have to make sure I make clear in verse 19 of Colossians.

David Spoon:

Now, for most people, you know, I'm baptized.

David Spoon:

And so what that means is simply this.

David Spoon:

I became a Christian when I became a Christian being born and raised Jewish.

David Spoon:

And I mean born and raised Jewish.

David Spoon:

I mean, I went to private Hebrew school and I did my haftarah with multiple people listening.

David Spoon:

And when I became a Christian, Billy, Bruce, Larry and I did not become Christians by church.

David Spoon:

We became Christians by somebody witnessing to Billy.

David Spoon:

And then Billy became a Christian, accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior, and then all of our salvation stuff came about from amongst us.

David Spoon:

We didn't have any kind of background or any church to connect to, which, by the way, makes an enormous difference in how you approach Christianity.

David Spoon:

Whether you admit that or not's not really relevant.

David Spoon:

So what we did was we went to a bunch of different churches.

David Spoon:

In the very beginning, we went to a whole bunch of churches because we thought that'd be cool.

David Spoon:

Just check out a whole bunch of churches.

David Spoon:

In fact, we were kind of shocked to find out that most churches were only open on Sunday.

David Spoon:

I'm just being honest with you.

David Spoon:

And we were on fire.

David Spoon:

Because for us to take a stand as Christians, it's like, you know, it was a big deal, especially in regards to our families, who had spent thousands and tens of thousands of dollars on all of us for bar mitzvahs, just in case you're wondering.

David Spoon:

So in my rearing and in my upbringing, it turns out that I ultimately became baptized Baptist and Pentecostal merged, which most people are.

David Spoon:

They don't say that, but they are.

David Spoon:

They're not true Baptists all the way down.

David Spoon:

They're not true Pentecostals all the way down.

David Spoon:

That's fine.

David Spoon:

That part doesn't.

David Spoon:

Fine.

David Spoon:

So I have a lot of respect for this upbringing.

David Spoon:

And in my doctorate and in my master's, my master's degree has to do with more Pentecostal, Foursquare, Charismatic, and my doctorate has to do more with Baptist, Liberty Baptist and so Liberty University.

David Spoon:

And so I love the connection.

David Spoon:

I don't agree with everything on either side, but then again, I don't agree with myself 25 years ago.

David Spoon:

So it doesn't surprise me.

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

Why does that surprise anybody?

David Spoon:

When you were 25 and now that you're older, do you think you knew everything when you were 25?

David Spoon:

You thought so and then you grew up, Right?

David Spoon:

So that's how it goes.

David Spoon:

So in verse 19 of Colossians, it says this.

David Spoon:

For God was pleased to have his fullness dwelling in him, referring to Jesus, and through him referring to Jesus, to reconcile himself to all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

David Spoon:

So the argument comes down, and don't get uptight about this, okay?

David Spoon:

I'm just giving you kind of the different sides.

David Spoon:

The argument comes down that many times from the Pentecostal point of view, there's an idea that there's a second functionality of grace and that's the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

And then the Baptists think, well, no, that's not right.

David Spoon:

The Holy Spirit comes with Jesus.

David Spoon:

And then the Pentecostals go, yeah, but you gotta have the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a separate experience, like it was before.

David Spoon:

And then some Pentecostals say you gotta speak in tongues to demonstrate that.

David Spoon:

Although they never really identify how somebody can have the fruit of the Spirit if they don't have the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

But what happens is it goes back and forth and back and forth, and it's really a blending of both teachings.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

What happens is you don't, you don't get Jesus and have a separation element.

David Spoon:

But when you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you're not always open to everything, which is why you grow and develop and have different things happen.

David Spoon:

Then what happens is on the Baptist side, they're just like, you got it all, you're done, you don't have to do anything else.

David Spoon:

And then they Forget about Ephesians 5:18, which commands us to be filled with the Spirit.

David Spoon:

So it's not just a one time were told to be continually filled.

David Spoon:

And by the way, Acts chapter two and then Acts chapter four and Acts chapter five, they're filled three different times with the Spirit.

David Spoon:

So it's not just a one time thing.

David Spoon:

But there's not a separation of Jesus either.

David Spoon:

It's not.

David Spoon:

You get Jesus and you get the Father and you didn't get the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

That's not true either.

David Spoon:

So neither one of those is really the way that it goes about.

David Spoon:

And in verse 19 of Colossians, and this is because I love my roots, I don't want people to get offended on stuff like this, but I want you to listen.

David Spoon:

It says simply, for God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Jesus.

David Spoon:

So it's kind of goofy to think that you get Jesus and don't get all the fullness because it says you get all the fullness.

David Spoon:

Does that mean you're open to everything?

David Spoon:

No.

David Spoon:

Does that mean you're functioning always in the Holy Spirit?

David Spoon:

No.

David Spoon:

But does it mean you have the Holy Spirit?

David Spoon:

Of course.

David Spoon:

You can't have the fullness of the Godhead in Jesus, who you receive by faith and not have the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

It's impossible.

David Spoon:

So the text is saying, hey, look, God was pleased to have his fullness dwell in Jesus, everything represented through Jesus, and that through him, to reconcile himself to all things, whether things in earth or in heaven.

David Spoon:

And it's an important point to make because the Holy Spirit is with you and in you.

David Spoon:

But you might not be filled with the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

Which is why in Luke:

David Spoon:

So when you take Luke:

David Spoon:

And one of the things you need to be aware of is that in walking the walk, the Spirit of God in you works for you in character and on you for ministry.

David Spoon:

So there's a difference between in you and upon you.

David Spoon:

But the big issue here is to continually be filled with the Spirit.

David Spoon:

You've got it in Jesus, but that doesn't mean you're using it all in Jesus.

David Spoon:

So the Baptists are right in you get it, but the Pentecostals are right in that you're not using everything.

David Spoon:

And that's.

David Spoon:

Both of those are correct.

David Spoon:

Which I don't know why they have to fight over that, but that's their business.

David Spoon:

For me, I've merged them in myself, and I don't care.

David Spoon:

The bottom line to what I'm trying to tell you is simply this.

David Spoon:

In Jesus, you have everything you need.

David Spoon:

But in Jesus, we need to be open to a lot more than we are, because God will do a lot more in us, with us and through us, if we believe and if we're filled with the Spirit.

David Spoon:

And people say, well, how do you get filled with the spirit.

David Spoon:

How do you really do it?

David Spoon:

Ready?

David Spoon:

Ready.

David Spoon:

Ready.

David Spoon:

Ask.

David Spoon:

Ask and you will receive.

David Spoon:

Seek and you will find.

David Spoon:

Knock and it shall be opened.

David Spoon:

So I just want to make this little theological point.

David Spoon:

You get it all, but you're probably not using it all.

David Spoon:

Get it?

David Spoon:

Okay, take a short.

David Spoon:

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

David Spoon:

We did not finish the trivia question, did we?

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

He's got a ping ping pong ball in his hand, everybody.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Which prophet prophesied the day of Pentecost?

David Spoon:

Acts, chapter 2, verse 16 through 17.

David Spoon:

The answer is Joel.

David Spoon:

Joel did.

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

That's your answer.

David Spoon:

The prophet.

David Spoon:

Joel.

David Spoon:

Joel 2, 28, 30.

David Spoon:

All right, we'll take a short break, then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break, we'll be back.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Announcer:

Through this position, the Christian faith is being attacked.

Announcer:

Fifty years ago, people would disagree with Christianity.

Announcer:

But with a sense of respect, those days are over.

Announcer:

The rage, the flesh the enemy.

Announcer:

And the atmosphere of sin is growing and growing.

Announcer:

Jesus said in Matthew 24, the love of many will grow cold.

Announcer:

And if it's not the end now, it's certainly a lot closer than it was yesterday.

Announcer:

You may be from a Baptist background.

Announcer:

David Spoon has this.

Announcer:

You may have a Pentecostal background.

Announcer:

He has that too.

Announcer:

You may have a non denominational background.

Announcer:

Yep, he's got that as well.

Announcer:

You may be from the Church of Christ Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination, but if you're looking for a show that's Bible based spirit led and a bit nutty.

Announcer:

Give David a listen for a while.

Announcer:

If you like it, great.

Announcer:

If not, no worries.

Announcer:

The David Spoon Experience.

Announcer:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

David Spoon:

It's because heaven is not some statuesque place where people go there and then freeze.

David Spoon:

Wait, I'm in heaven.

David Spoon:

I'm standing.

David Spoon:

Nope, I can't sit.

David Spoon:

Wait, no, I'm in heaven.

David Spoon:

I'm sitting.

David Spoon:

No, wait, I can't stand.

David Spoon:

Where does that kind of concept of heaven come from?

David Spoon:

Well, is he standing or is he sitting?

David Spoon:

I'm gonna go with.

David Spoon:

He's doing both.

David Spoon:

He's standing on this one.

David Spoon:

He's sitting on this one over there.

David Spoon:

He could be doing a Scooby Doo act.

David Spoon:

I don't know what he's doing.

David Spoon:

All I know is that heaven is not about frozen people that don't move.

David Spoon:

And if we don't get a better handle on what heaven is, we're gonna lose our communication of our hope to a hope that's based on 72 virgins, which guarantees you after 73 times.

David Spoon:

It's not the fun.

David Spoon:

It was the 72 times.

David Spoon:

It's so ridiculous.

David Spoon:

And that's the hope we're not winning on.

David Spoon:

You have got to be kidding me.

Announcer:

The David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Oh, welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's KAM 770, the Truth Station station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Getting ready for your next trivia question.

David Spoon:

This is a good one.

David Spoon:

This is a good one.

David Spoon:

Ready?

David Spoon:

All right, a little harder.

David Spoon:

This is in one of the major prophets.

David Spoon:

So that tells you right now this answer is going to come from Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel?

David Spoon:

One of those four.

David Spoon:

desolation, specifically Mark:

David Spoon:

Which prophet did that phrase come from?

David Spoon:

Which major prophet did that come from?

David Spoon:

Jesus referred to the abomination of desolation that was spoken of by which prophet?

David Spoon:

t for the New Testament, Mark:

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

Or you can send an email.

David Spoon:

David must increase.org okay.

David Spoon:

Which major prophet in the Old Testament?

David Spoon:

Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel?

David Spoon:

Which major prophet made the reference that Jesus was talking, originated the reference of the abomination of desolation.

David Spoon:

Mark chapter 13, verse 14 will give you a big clue.

David Spoon:

In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website and I'm not going to make this complex.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

We could really use some funds.

David Spoon:

So if this ministry is blessing you, help out unless the Lord tells you no, then do whatever God says.

David Spoon:

Always do what God says.

David Spoon:

Never do what you always do.

David Spoon:

What God says.

David Spoon:

First period.

David Spoon:

Always, forever and ever.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Never changes.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

On the other side of that, if the Lord has given you the freedom.

David Spoon:

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

David Spoon:

Then please consider giving to the ministry.

David Spoon:

It's very helpful for us to be able to pay not just radio rent, but all the other things that we got to pay and we don't make a ton.

David Spoon:

But if you give, you're not getting a whistle, you're not getting a donut, and you're not getting a Lamborghini.

David Spoon:

You're getting a receipt at the end of the year that's tax deductible according to our status with the irs, and that's all you're getting.

David Spoon:

And a thank you.

David Spoon:

You'll get that, too.

David Spoon:

If you can give, awesome.

David Spoon:

If you can't, don't worry about it.

David Spoon:

We still want you to enjoy the ministry at every level.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

All right, simple.

David Spoon:

Check out the website with all the info.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org prayer request.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org praise report looking to give to this ministry.

David Spoon:

Confused by what's happening right now.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org he must increase.org sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

David Spoon:

Almond Joy's got nuts.

David Spoon:

Mounds don't.

David Spoon:

Yay.

David Spoon:

Now I want to.

David Spoon:

Almond Joy, is that bad or what?

David Spoon:

It's like, I hear those commercials.

David Spoon:

Like, I want one of those now.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right, folks, your trivia question is not complex, but you probably need to look it up if you don't know.

David Spoon:

If you're not really into eschatology or things of that nature.

David Spoon:

Jesus referred to the abomination of desolation.

David Spoon:

It was spoken of.

David Spoon:

By which prophet?

David Spoon:

Was it Isaiah?

David Spoon:

Was it Jeremiah?

David Spoon:

Was it Ezekiel or Daniel?

David Spoon:

ference point could be marked:

David Spoon:

If you think you know, reach out to us.

David Spoon:

In the meantime, we are going to do two jokes.

David Spoon:

Is that right?

David Spoon:

Ready for these?

David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

David Spoon:

I'm doing this joke because it has a Jewish connection, and I think it's funny.

David Spoon:

And then the other joke is kind of goofy.

David Spoon:

All right, so we got funny Jewish connection to the other one here.

David Spoon:

It Is ready.

David Spoon:

Now tell me what you think of this, because this is like my upbringing right here.

David Spoon:

A son is visiting his mother the week after Hanukkah wearing one of the two sweaters she had given him as a gift for the holiday.

David Spoon:

As he walks into her house, instead of saying hello, the mother said, what's wrong?

David Spoon:

You didn't like the other sweater I got you?

David Spoon:

That's my life.

David Spoon:

Did you like that?

David Spoon:

That's just like a classic.

David Spoon:

That's how it goes.

David Spoon:

All right, here's the other one.

David Spoon:

I just thought this was funny.

David Spoon:

I really dedicate this to my wife because it's pretty funny.

David Spoon:

A man opened up his fridge and swore he heard two onions singing a Bee Gees song.

David Spoon:

After close inspection, he realized it was just Chives talking.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right, folks.

David Spoon:

Noel thinks that's funny.

David Spoon:

Okay, it is funny.

David Spoon:

That is pretty funny.

David Spoon:

All right, so we do have somebody responding to the trivia question.

David Spoon:

The trivia question is not overly complex.

David Spoon:

Jesus referred to the abomination of desolation.

David Spoon:

Spoken by which prophet?

David Spoon:

One of the major prophets.

David Spoon:

Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel or Daniel?

David Spoon:

reference point would be Mark:

David Spoon:

We do have somebody on the line ready to answer the trivia question.

David Spoon:

Let's send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Roger:

It's your brother Roger again.

David Spoon:

Hello, brother Roger again.

David Spoon:

How art thou?

Roger:

I'm doing good.

Roger:

I'm trying to bail you out.

David Spoon:

You're trying to bail me out?

David Spoon:

I love it.

David Spoon:

Oh, my gosh.

David Spoon:

Yes.

David Spoon:

I don't have anything to say, so, yes, you're in a sinking ship.

David Spoon:

That is.

Roger:

I just don't want the fish to eat you.

David Spoon:

That's so funny.

David Spoon:

That is so, so funn.

David Spoon:

That is absolutely brilliant.

David Spoon:

I'm going to tell you.

David Spoon:

That is brilliant.

David Spoon:

Brilliant right there, my friend.

David Spoon:

Absolutely.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Let me set it up for you and then you can bail me out to get some of the water out of the boat.

David Spoon:

That would be really helpful.

David Spoon:

Here we go.

David Spoon:

Jesus.

David Spoon:

Jesus referred to the abomination of.

David Spoon:

I know.

David Spoon:

You're killing me.

David Spoon:

Jesus referred to the abomination of desolation.

David Spoon:

Spoken of by which prophet?

Roger:

Prophet Daniel.

David Spoon:

That is correct.

David Spoon:

You are right.

David Spoon:

That is an excellent answer, actually.

David Spoon:

Jeanette got the pow pow on that.

David Spoon:

Very good, Jeanette.

David Spoon:

Very, very good.

David Spoon:

So how art thou, Roger?

Roger:

I'm doing better than I deserve.

David Spoon:

Amen, brother.

David Spoon:

Every one of us.

David Spoon:

Every one of us, right?

Roger:

Yeah, but I'm not in a sinking ship.

David Spoon:

Youp'Re on.

David Spoon:

You're on the lifeboat called Jesus.

Roger:

No, it's A good.

Roger:

I just.

Roger:

I just wanted to encourage you and wish you well.

Roger:

And we.

Roger:

Ace was my friend.

Roger:

Not only a brother on the radio, but he was a friend.

Roger:

I knew him pretty.

Roger:

Not really well, but I talked to him maybe on every other week basis, you know, and he.

Roger:

And I just.

Roger:

He was so humble.

Roger:

He didn't brag about everything that he did and.

Roger:

Minister.

Roger:

He was a minister.

Roger:

He had a church.

David Spoon:

Yep.

Roger:

He.

Roger:

He had a homeless camp.

Roger:

But he encouraged people to come to and try to get their lives back on their feet and try to bring them along so they'd have a better life.

Roger:

But most of all, it was a better life in Jesus.

Roger:

It wasn't just to help.

Roger:

It just.

Roger:

Jesus was first in his life.

Roger:

So I just wanted to mention that about Ace.

Roger:

And he.

Roger:

He just.

Roger:

He's just dancing now.

David Spoon:

Yes.

Roger:

You know, the last four years of his ministry, he did the singing out in the hot or cold on a weekly basis and never in rain, no matter what.

Roger:

You know, he had a little umbrella or whatever, but he would do his ministry.

Roger:

In the last four years, he did his ministry out of a wheelchair, you know, And, I mean, just.

Roger:

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I just wanted to give him a special tribute, you know, and let everybody know what really he was all about.

Roger:

You know, you're supposed to give credit to who credit is due.

Roger:

And Ace, sure, they deserve credit.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

That's good.

Roger:

I'm kind of jealous, you know.

David Spoon:

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, because you're like, hey, he's already doing the dance, and so on.

David Spoon:

So brother Ace, he contacted me.

David Spoon:

So the show started March 18th, and that was.

David Spoon:

Ace was one of the first people that called in.

David Spoon:

He was one of the first people that I talked to directly.

David Spoon:

And he's just always been such a blessing.

David Spoon:

I mean, such a great spirit, a great heart, a great, great witness for Jesus and just.

David Spoon:

You're right, he maintained this extraordinarily phenomenal, humble spirit.

David Spoon:

And he just.

David Spoon:

He didn't want to take any credit.

David Spoon:

Just wanted to make sure the Lord got the credit.

David Spoon:

And he was truly, truly a phenomenal Christian example.

David Spoon:

You.

David Spoon:

Truly a phenomenal Christian example.

David Spoon:

I love that guy.

David Spoon:

He was just great.

Roger:

Yeah, we didn't always agree on all the doctrines and theologies, but we agreed to agree that Jesus Christ was the only way that you can enter into.

Roger:

He Is the door, like you were talking about.

David Spoon:

Right, exactly.

Roger:

Is the door.

Roger:

You don't go through any other door.

Roger:

You're not going to get in with your doctrine or your theology.

Roger:

I was listening on Saturday and you was on a Saturday.

Roger:

And I heard myself and I talked about.

Roger:

Not the theology, make it your neology.

David Spoon:

Yeah, I heard that.

David Spoon:

That's funny.

David Spoon:

That's really good.

David Spoon:

That was such a great line.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

That is a brilliant line.

David Spoon:

It's not your theology, it's your neology.

David Spoon:

That is exactly right.

Roger:

Yeah.

Roger:

You know, and you just.

Roger:

It was just a.

Roger:

Just a pleasure to know him.

Roger:

It was a pleasure to see his ministry, because I got to see his ministry, you know, and because he did it at cook stops, he did it at Walmart's, he did it at grocery.

Roger:

Other grocery stores.

Roger:

He didn't just do it at one place, he did it several different places.

Roger:

So it just was wonderful to see.

David Spoon:

Yeah, it was.

David Spoon:

And I really appreciate you making those.

David Spoon:

The connection and keeping me up to date.

David Spoon:

And so the other day we.

David Spoon:

We read from.

David Spoon:

I don't know if you heard that or not.

David Spoon:

We read from his obituary, and it's just a beautiful.

David Spoon:

It's actually, they did a really good job.

David Spoon:

I thought of sharing about him, making sure that everybody knew that his number one passion was about reaching out to people in the name of Christ.

David Spoon:

And that was just great.

David Spoon:

It's just great to hear, great to see.

David Spoon:

And we are all, every one of us, everybody on this radio show, everybody who's ever listened to this radio show is better because Ace was a part of it.

Roger:

Yes.

Roger:

And I would say I agree.

Roger:

I agree 100%, you know, amen.

Roger:

And, you know, I.

Roger:

I just.

Roger:

It's good to know that I had a part of his ministry because I.

Roger:

There is times I did help him get the.

Roger:

His equipment out of his van and.

Roger:

And help him set up, or vice versa, terrorist equipment down and put it into his van.

Roger:

And then.

Roger:

And then I got.

Roger:

I got some of his tapes.

Roger:

So I'm really blessed.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Good for you, man.

David Spoon:

That is good.

Roger:

Yeah.

Roger:

I think I sent you one.

David Spoon:

No, we have one.

David Spoon:

And we'll.

David Spoon:

We'll try and track some of that down and see if we can, you know, play some clips on that.

David Spoon:

So that's something we'll.

David Spoon:

We'll try and work out.

Roger:

Yeah.

Roger:

Don't worry.

Roger:

But I.

Roger:

It's okay.

Roger:

You know, God knows what's going on and he knows what's going on with you, brother David.

David Spoon:

Yes, he does.

Roger:

Yeah, He.

Roger:

He's.

Roger:

He's got you.

Roger:

And if it's a.

Roger:

You know, I texted you the other day.

Roger:

I didn't know what my next step was.

Roger:

But just.

Roger:

Just keep being myself and don't worry about what the next step.

Roger:

God will make the step for me.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

He will make a way.

David Spoon:

When there seems to be no way.

David Spoon:

He is the.

David Spoon:

He is indeed the waymaker.

David Spoon:

I mean, that is great.

Roger:

Yeah.

Roger:

And it's kind of like this trivia question that just happened.

Roger:

Well, I was waiting for somebody else to answer.

Roger:

Waiting for somebody else to answer.

Roger:

Oh, I'll give it a try.

Roger:

And here I am.

David Spoon:

There you are.

David Spoon:

And you did an excellent job, Roger.

David Spoon:

That was a really, really good.

David Spoon:

And a nice tribute to Ace as well.

David Spoon:

It really was nice.

Roger:

Yeah.

Roger:

And I just.

Roger:

I want to thank you and the show.

Roger:

We definitely feel your prayers, and I know that you're out there praying for me and my wife and what we're going through.

David Spoon:

We.

Roger:

We definitely feel it.

Roger:

We know that the church.

Roger:

The church, not the.

Roger:

Not the building, just praying for us and.

Roger:

And that we're all connected.

Roger:

We have to be connected.

Roger:

And in that area where it doesn't matter what denomination, as long as they trust in Jesus and love on Jesus and know that Jesus is loving on us through the Holy Spirit, that he sent us to be our helper.

David Spoon:

Yep.

Roger:

To be our helper.

Roger:

You know, Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to come and be our helper.

Roger:

Just think about that.

Roger:

If you just meditate and.

Roger:

And dwell on the.

Roger:

What he has done.

Roger:

I dwell on what he has done for me, not what he's gonna do for me.

Roger:

I know that he's going to do great things for me, but I dwell on what he's already done.

Roger:

You know, if I do.

Roger:

If I look back, that's what I'm going to look back on what he's already done for me.

Roger:

I.

Roger:

That's the only thing I know how to do right now, is look what he's already done for me.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

Roger:

I'm not worried about what he's going to do in the future.

Roger:

I'm taking care of.

Roger:

Because of what he's already done.

Roger:

I'm took care of.

Roger:

I'm.

Roger:

I'm satisfied with what I have in Christ because He already took care of me.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

That's.

David Spoon:

That's where you.

David Spoon:

That's where you get Psalm 23:1.

David Spoon:

The Lord is my shepherd.

David Spoon:

I shall not want.

David Spoon:

That's it.

David Spoon:

I don't want anything.

David Spoon:

I'm good.

David Spoon:

I got my shepherd.

David Spoon:

I'm good.

Roger:

Okay, well, I don't.

Roger:

If I don't hang up, then I'm gonna just keep going the rest and then we're gonna get in trouble.

Roger:

God bless.

David Spoon:

God bless.

David Spoon:

Roger.

Roger:

We love you.

David Spoon:

Love you too, bro.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

David Spoon:

Bye, bye, bye.

David Spoon:

All right, excellent share.

David Spoon:

Excellent opportunity to share and rightly so.

David Spoon:

And Roger Again was instrumental in keeping me connected to Ace and I really do appreciate that.

David Spoon:

And you should be praying for Roger Again and his wife because they're going through their trials if you don't know.

David Spoon:

Just pray that the Lord will bring healing power into Roger Again's wife and into their family and just a peace and a great sense.

David Spoon:

And they're greatly confident in the Lord and I'm greatly confident in your guys faithfulness in the Lord.

David Spoon:

So I trust you for that.

David Spoon:

All right, we got about three minutes.

David Spoon:

Let me finish this off on this text that we were in.

David Spoon:

This text in Colossians 1:19, after it says, God was pleased to have his fullness dwell in Jesus and through him reconcile him to all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

David Spoon:

So any kind of group that says the cross is a bad thing doesn't understand the actual redemption process.

David Spoon:

And this is a biggie of biggie of biggies.

David Spoon:

All things are reconciled to God, whether they're things in heaven and on earth.

David Spoon:

That reconciliation comes through Jesus and Jesus Christ alone.

David Spoon:

Did you hear me?

David Spoon:

Born of the Holy Spirit, making him of divine, born of Mary, making him of humanity, and the only one, thereby the only one being able to make the connection between the two, connecting heaven and earth.

David Spoon:

Jesus Christ alone.

David Spoon:

A relationship that's active we have with God takes place by the blood of Jesus.

David Spoon:

It paves the way of the connection between heaven and earth.

David Spoon:

Jesus is ultimately that ladder that was foretold about in Jacob's ladder in the beginning of Genesis portions.

David Spoon:

It's like Jesus is the actual, actual ladder.

David Spoon:

And you think literal.

David Spoon:

Yeah, because it has to be through him that heaven and earth are connected.

David Spoon:

And so we need to be aware that regardless of the maturity level that all of us have reached, regardless of your denomination, regardless of your background.

David Spoon:

I don't care about that.

David Spoon:

What I care about is you understanding Jesus is the way that heaven and earth are connected.

David Spoon:

It is through him that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have reconciled all things, things on heaven and things in earth, by making peace through the blood of Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

You don't have peace with God because of your good works.

David Spoon:

You have peace with God because of the blood of Jesus.

David Spoon:

You are right with God because of what Jesus did.

David Spoon:

And what takes place is when you acknowledge that testimony surrender to that testimony.

David Spoon:

Confess that testimony.

David Spoon:

The righteousness of Jesus Christ that He had and he walked in is placed upon you in reciprocation for that faith.

David Spoon:

That grace is granted and you stand right with God as right as Jesus stood.

David Spoon:

That's why there's peace through the blood of his cross.

David Spoon:

I pray this verse every day, by the way, personally, because I know it ain't me, it's Him.

David Spoon:

And how could we not just be forever grateful and thankful for all that he has done for us?

David Spoon:

His kindness exceeds every one of us.

David Spoon:

Thank you, Lord God Almighty, for the blood of Jesus Christ and the redemption through his actions.

David Spoon:

Right, okay.

David Spoon:

All right, folks, you have been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the truth station here in Texas.

David Spoon:
