Are you struggling to find a way to stand-out at networking events both virtual and in person? Tune into the next 13 minutes and never have another boring conversation again! Everything we do starts in our brain, it’s the literal boss of the body! And in the next few episodes, we are going to delve into the incredibly resourceful human brain and learn how you can utilize its power to get the best out of any networking event!
There are a number of neurotransmitters involved in brain-body connection, including glutamate, GABA, dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin, but out of all these, dopamine is going to be your best networking friend, your wing person, your main man. With the help of dopamine YOU are going to be a networking and relationship building superstar?
Dopamine makes you curious about ideas and fuels your search for information and is also the feel good transmitter of the brain. You have the power to create dopamine spikes in the brains of the people you meet, just by asking the right questions. Curious? Let’s start with what ARE NOT the right questions to ask “How are you?” and “What do you do?” Those are the two lowest dopamine producing questions!
Listen in to today’s podcast to discover how you can ask dopamine-inducing questions to kick start any conversation. Learn how asking the right questions allows you to discover a tremendous amount of information about a person in a very small amount of time.
Start here, make a list of interesting dopamine inducing questions based off of the list you created about yourself in the “List yourself approach” in Episode Three. If you haven’t been there, please go back, listen to it, and then come back here so you can make the most out of this strategy. The monotony and boredom associated with typical networking events (especially virtual ones) can be eliminated just by asking better questions. Turn your “How are yous” into “Tell me about your favorite vacation” or in a virtual scenario, try going with “What is the best show you’ve binge watched during COVID?” and you’ll start off with a more casual and confident conversation.
I’ve listed my favorite Dopamine inducing conversations for you in this episode.
