Yeah, everything is ready to go, we’re just waiting for everyone to show up so we can actually negotiate this thing.

(door opens, Absolute Zero walks in)

(small, scared gasp)

CAMREN

JUDE

(Mosaic marches over to AZ)

APOLLO

😡You motherfucker. You piece of shit, you could have killed them! Do not pull that bullshit ever again or I swear to god I will-

(Providence gets in between them as Liar Liar enters behind her)

NEVAEH

Woah, woah, calm down! We’re not here to fight each other, we’re here to sow peace.

CAMREN

Yeah, what’s the big idea, Mosaic? I thought we were trying to be on the same team.

APOLLO

(DCA, Double Trouble, and Sentinel enter)

What’s going on?

NEVAEH

Nothing! Providence is right, it’s nothing. It’s- It’s behind us.

APOLLO

(whispered) What!? He didn’t even apologize!

JUDE

(hushed) I’m not going to be the reason this treaty falls through, Mosaic.

APOLLO

… Fine. Fine, god, I’ll drop it. But you’re on thin ice, Az.

SYDNEY

Is this really the time for puns?

APOLLO

NEVAEH

Haha, ooookay! So, this treaty. Let’s talk shop, shall we?

VAL

Uh… Yes. Yes, if you’re ready to negotiate, then so are we.

NEVAEH

You have fulfilled your end of the bargain, doing these favors for us. We are ready to fulfill ours. We won’t attack you or the city between now and the peace treaty signing at the gala.

VAL

And after that, you won’t attack anyone for as long as the treaty stands. In return, we will not pursue any legal recourse for your former actions. You will, essentially, be pardoned. The governor has signed off on this.

NEVAEH

VAL

(they shake hands)

JUDE

(relaxed, quietly) Hey, is your sister working today? We could drop by the catfe-

(angrily, suddenly) They know your fucking identity!?

NEVAEH

JUDE

APOLLO

VAL

I thought we knew this already.

NEVAEH

I sure as fuck didn’t!

ESTEE

It’s Mosaic’s right to choose who he does and doesn’t tell about his identity!

CAMREN

It’s our right to be told about important developments like this!

SYDNEY

Wow, fighting at the peace treaty negotiation. No one could have expected this. 🙄

(everyone goes silent)

VAL

There is no use in arguing over what has already been done. Whatever Solis and Mosaic do or do not choose to share with each other is their business and their business alone, not ours.

NEVAEH

We’ll fucking talk about this later, Mosaic.

JUDE

(quietly) I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause all this trouble.

APOLLO

Not your fault, don’t worry about it. It was going to come out eventually.

SYDNEY

ESTEE

I think this is just another point in favor of the treaty! Clearly, Solis and Mosaic trust each other.

CAMREN

Yeah, great, Solis knows Mosaic’s identity. But does Mosaic know Solis’?

(ice freezing as AZ freezes Solis, AZ marches up to them)

APOLLO

(stained glass wall goes up between AZ and Solis)

APOLLO

(chastising) Mosaic!

NEVAEH

(warningly) Mosaic…

(ice unfreezes)

CAMREN

Fine! Fine, there you go. No harm done.

APOLLO

Come here, Solis.

JUDE

(weakly) Okay.

APOLLO

(deep breath) If this treaty is going into effect… then you need to keep your Vindicators on a fucking leash, Providence.

NEVAEH

(mutters) And you need to remember whose side you’re on. (louder) But yes. I will talk with Az. Az, for the love of god, just back off.

CAMREN

(smugly) Sure. No skin off my back.

APOLLO

(angrily) We’re leaving. Come on, Solis, I’ll walk you to the tower.

JUDE

Oh, y-you don’t have to-

APOLLO

I want to. Is that okay?

JUDE

APOLLO

No problem.

(they walk out of the building)

APOLLO

You’re still shivering.

JUDE

S-Sorry.

APOLLO

No, it’s- Come here.

(Apollo pulls them close. Jude accidentally offloads some of the cold onto Mosaic with their super power: Selfish Healing.)

APOLLO

W-What the fuck? What just happened?

JUDE

Shit! Shit, I didn’t mean to do that, I’m so sorry, I- Please don’t tell anyone! I’m so sorry. Are you okay?

APOLLO

(calmly) Tell me what just happened, Solis. I’m not mad, just… confused.

JUDE

I.. It’s my power.

APOLLO

(carefully) Right, Estee said you had one, but you don’t ever use it.

JUDE

I try not to. ‘Selfish Healing,’ I call it. I hate it.

APOLLO

What does it do?

JUDE

I can heal and stabilize myself, but- but I have to offload the injury or the condition or the pain onto someone else. It’s horrible, I- My power does nothing but hurt people.

APOLLO

I wouldn’t say that. If it heals you, then it’s worth having.

JUDE

I’m not-

APOLLO

If you say you’re not worth as much as the people around you, I’ll riot.

JUDE

(weak laugh) Ha. Sorry.

APOLLO

(Solis hugs him)

(silence)

(Jude runs up next to Apollo in front of The Cat’s Meow)

JUDE

Hi! Sorry I’m late!

APOLLO

Heh, they’re actually closed.

JUDE

Well… (hesitates) I have keys. It can be just us.

(Jude unlocks the catfe doors and they walk inside)

APOLLO

Are you allowed to make me a drink when the shop isn’t technically open?

JUDE

I mean… who’s gonna stop me?

APOLLO

JUDE

You want your usual?

APOLLO

(Jude starts making his drink, Apollo sits on the counter)

JUDE

Sooo how’s it going? Haven’t seen you since- well, it’s been a while!

APOLLO

Yeah, I’ve been pretty busy. Shit’s really going down, ha.

JUDE

What kind of shit?

APOLLO

Oh, it’s- Nothing, just personal stuff. What about you?

JUDE

APOLLO

JUDE

NEVAEH

It’s way cooler when Mosaic takes us in through the windows.

😒 It’s not fair that his barricades can float and mine have to be attached to something.

VAL

(walking up the stairs)

VAL

Where’s Solis? I thought Mosaic was walking them here.

ESTEE

Maybe they’re on the top floor?

PATRICK

They might have left together. Or if Mosaic left, I’m sure Solis left soon after.

VAL

(sigh) Yes, they’re… what do the kids call it? A ‘simp?’

ESTEE

Please don’t ever say that again, doc.

VAL

Hmm. Regardless, they are cute together. They make a good couple.

PATRICK

About Mosaic hurting Solis?

ESTEE

Sort of? But I’m worried about Mosaic, too. I like Mosaic, I- I think we might even be friends! But what if the Vindicators try to pull something? What if they try to hurt him for turning to the side of good? Or- Or what if Mosaic is faking this whole thing, but he has a genuine change of heart and then the Vindicators hurt him for that? There are just so many things that could go wrong, and I am so, so worried.

VAL

Estee, Mosaic can handle himself. And besides, he has Solis to back him up. They wouldn’t let him face the Vindicators alone. They’re a team.

ESTEE

Yeah, I… I guess so.

VAL

And Solis is stronger than they seem, Estee, you know that. They go easy on Mosaic because they like him. But you saw how they performed that one time another villain tried to usurp him.

PATRICK

God, yeah, they kicked that guy’s ass!

VAL

Solis is a capable hero, and Mosaic is, too. Together, they can handle whatever they need to.

ESTEE
