Shownotes

Americans don’t just disagree about the news. Increasingly, we trust completely different sources to tell us what happened in the first place. And when a story confirms what we already believe, it’s surprisingly easy to accept it without asking many questions.

But that habit may reach beyond our news feeds. We can also be tempted to surround ourselves with voices, ideas, and even a version of God that consistently agrees with us. If the truth never challenges what we already think, are we really looking for truth, or are we looking for agreement?

Scripture (NIV): 2 Timothy 4:3 – “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

Reflection Questions:

When you hear something that confirms what you already believe, are you as willing to question it as something you disagree with?

Where might God’s truth be challenging you instead of simply agreeing with you?
