Much of the progress we have made as a civilization is to create comfort and convenience. While these things aren't inherently bad, they have had unintended consequences in our society. With inventions such as automobiles we have lost the need to walk as much, with air conditioning we've kept our bodies from naturally regulating body temperature, and with heated water we've kept our bodies from ever having to feel a cold wake up in the morning. While these things sound nice they can cause a lot of problems with our willpower. When we force ourselves to do hard things we gain better control over our minds and our bodies. We also help our body to naturally release dopamine which is known as the reward chemical that helps you feel good after doing something difficult. Therefore, in a world where comfort is all around you, go against the tide and create a more resilient mind and body.
