After 6 months away, I’m finally back behind the mic. This episode is a bit different, I don’t dive too deep into sports this time. Instead, I open up about where I’ve been, what I’ve been going through, and why I needed that time away.
The past few months have been overwhelming, filled with both highs and lows, and I felt it was important to share that honestly. We talk mental health, navigating tough moments, and what it feels like when life starts piling on. There are times when it feels easier to just give up but those are the moments that matter most. This is a reminder (to you and to myself) to keep going, even when it’s hard.
Of course, I couldn’t stay completely away from sports, Bam Adebayo’s insane 83-point performance against the Wizards? Where did that come from?
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or just needed a reset — this one’s for you.
Come for the sports, stay for the tantrums.

Try something.
Speaker A:I want to try something.
Speaker A:Don't.
Speaker A:Don't stop the recording.
Speaker A:Don't stop the recording.
Speaker A:I know, I know, I know.
Speaker A:Mukundi, you're back.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, it's been.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:But hey, man, tell you what.
Speaker A:I'm locked in again, you know, my barber's back in town and he's.
Speaker A:You know, this was a week ago, but still.
Speaker A:You get what I'm trying to say, man?
Speaker A:My barber's back in town.
Speaker A:I'm locked in.
Speaker A:It's always hero time.
Speaker A:And italk sports is back after a much needed hiatus.
Speaker A:You know, we had to get our bearings together, do some stuff.
Speaker A:But I will tell you that you might want to check out this episode, man.
Speaker A:I get.
Speaker A:I tell you.
Speaker A:You can see by the way that we flex.
Speaker A:Microphone check, 1, 2, 1, 2.
Speaker A:What's good?
Speaker A:Was good?
Speaker A:What's good?
Speaker A:Oh, my God, that feels so good to say.
Speaker A:Yo, man, let's do that again.
Speaker A:Microphone check, 1, 2, 1, 2.
Speaker A:What's good?
Speaker A:What's good?
Speaker A:What's good?
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:His name is Mukundi and he talks sports and he has been away for a while.
Speaker A:But fret not, my child, I have returned.
Speaker A:Mukundi, where have you been?
Speaker A:Mukundi, what you been up to?
Speaker A:Why did you not say anything when the Ravens did not make it to the super bowl again?
Speaker A:Why did you not say anything when the Golden State warriors seemed like a great team and then like a bad team again?
Speaker A:Why were you quiet when Bam.
Speaker A:Adebayor dropped 83 points?
Speaker A:A lot has happened.
Speaker A:A lot has happened in the sports world.
Speaker A:A lot has happened in my life.
Speaker A:A lot has happened everywhere, bro.
Speaker A:It's been a crazy, crazy couple of months.
Speaker A:A lot.
Speaker A:There's a lot that's happened, right?
Speaker A:She.
Speaker A:Before we even get too far.
Speaker A:Before we even get too far in order, as you know, I'm never alone.
Speaker A:I'm never alone.
Speaker A:I got my.
Speaker A:I got my guy, the dolla.
Speaker A:One and only.
Speaker A:But he's not just the dolla anymore, is he?
Speaker A:Father of a beautiful, beautiful little girl who we will protect with everything that we can with we have and can do.
Speaker A:How are you?
Speaker A:How's fatherhood?
Speaker B:Fatherhood is fantastic, man.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's great.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker B:It's amazing.
Speaker B:I'm loving the respect I get now.
Speaker B:It's not.
Speaker A:Hey, And it's not about you anymore, by the way.
Speaker B:No, it's not about.
Speaker A:Hence, your name is not.
Speaker B:My name is.
Speaker A:Your name is not even your name anymore.
Speaker B:No good, man.
Speaker B:Yeah, she's growing Quite nicely.
Speaker B:Has a book that's dedicated to her as a song that's dedicated to her.
Speaker B:She's living nice.
Speaker A:Oh, man, she is living nice.
Speaker B:We can't wait for the next one.
Speaker A:Oh, by the way, go stream Joy.
Speaker A:You are my joy.
Speaker A:Yeah, go stream that good stuff.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:All right, man.
Speaker A:It's so good to be back, bro.
Speaker A:It's good.
Speaker A:So it's so good to be back in front of a microphone doing what I do.
Speaker A:And how's Chelsea off the rip?
Speaker A:Chelsea FC right now, the blue one
Speaker B:is an atrocity,
Speaker A:as always.
Speaker A:As always, I'll be very top four.
Speaker A:Top four, top four.
Speaker B:I don't even care.
Speaker B:Man United are doing better than Chelsea.
Speaker B:Can you.
Speaker A:Ah.
Speaker A:Ah.
Speaker B:So very quick.
Speaker B:So, so just very quick.
Speaker A:It's still 20, 26.
Speaker A:No, no, man United is still ass, right?
Speaker B:No, they're not.
Speaker A:They're not.
Speaker B:They've.
Speaker B:They've won every game they've played this year.
Speaker A:Man United have won every game they've played.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker B:Let me say 80% of the games they've won.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:Every league game, elite game that I
Speaker B:haven't been really keeping up with how they're doing in the league, but they have cracked up far more W's than L's.
Speaker A:And this is Manchester United.
Speaker B:Yes, this is Manchester United.
Speaker B:The Red Devils.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:Oh, I'm going to be very quickly and talk about Chelsea.
Speaker B:Chelsea is doing what Chelsea does every single season.
Speaker B:You doubt them, they win something.
Speaker B:When they win something, they just go.
Speaker B:They'll lose to a good team, they'll lose to a bad team, and then they'll just put out a big W. For example, we got.
Speaker B:We.
Speaker B:For example, we got trashed by PSG the other day.
Speaker A:72 UFO champions.
Speaker A:So we'll allow it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But in the group stages, we beat Barcelona 3 0.
Speaker B:That's the story of Chelsea.
Speaker B:We win a trophy every one to two seasons.
Speaker B:So I'm not even worried.
Speaker B:But Chelsea's on a trustee.
Speaker B:But it's not about Chelsea.
Speaker B:It's about the Ravens today.
Speaker A:It's not even about them.
Speaker A:It's not even about them.
Speaker A:So that's Batman.
Speaker A:I got Batman now because I need to stay protected up in these streets.
Speaker A:Just want to say, say hi to Batman because.
Speaker A:Because he's going to be a fixture now.
Speaker A:Okay, what has happened?
Speaker A:Where were you?
Speaker A:What have you been doing?
Speaker A:So a lot of people have been asking me that.
Speaker A:I've been getting a lot of calls, messages, people I run into, friends.
Speaker A:Where is Italk Sports?
Speaker A:Where is the podcast?
Speaker A:And at first I was just, you know, playing it off as.
Speaker A:It's my friends wondering why I'm not doing the one thing I do every week.
Speaker A:It's my friends just questioning if I'm still locked in and shout out to them, all my friends.
Speaker A:All my friends.
Speaker A:I wouldn't even be here right now if they didn't.
Speaker A:So it's.
Speaker A:I'm not gonna lie and say I've been having the best time of my life.
Speaker A:Nah, not even close.
Speaker A:Between you and me, and actually, honestly speaking, I haven't even watched sports over the past four or five months.
Speaker A:I haven't watched a single fight, haven't watched a single jump shot, haven't watched a single football game.
Speaker A:Hell, the football season came and went and I didn't even talk about it once up here, if even if I even talked during the whole football season.
Speaker A:So I'm not gonna lie to you.
Speaker A:Life has been.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, I've.
Speaker A:Man.
Speaker A:I've learned that you gotta just take everything in stride, but while you do that, gotta get back up, dog.
Speaker A:And I stayed down for a while.
Speaker A:Longer than I'd like to admit.
Speaker A:Longer than I'd like to admit.
Speaker A:I stayed down for a minute, bro.
Speaker A:I wasn't even certain I was gonna record this up until two days ago, even.
Speaker A:It's not.
Speaker A:Cuz I didn't want to.
Speaker A:Trust me.
Speaker A:I opened my YouTube channel for the first time in a long time a couple weeks ago, and.
Speaker A:I thought I was just.
Speaker A:I thought my hiatus was just, you know, two, three months.
Speaker A:But then again, I haven't recorded all year and we're halfway into the third month of the year, so.
Speaker A:Is it really two, three months, Nyana?
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:It broke my heart opening my YouTube channel and seeing that my last video was from six months ago.
Speaker A:Yeah, you should see NJ's reaction.
Speaker A:Are you going on my YouTube channel now?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So it broke my heart realizing that I haven't done one of these in six months.
Speaker A:So I had to lock in and I had to just understand and tell myself, yo, life is life.
Speaker A:Okay, so what?
Speaker A:You've experienced a lot of personal stuff.
Speaker A:So what?
Speaker A:You've lost your job, you got a new job, and then things are going, so what, right?
Speaker A:So what?
Speaker A:You got held at gunpoint and you saw your life flash before your eyes.
Speaker A:So what?
Speaker A:Literally, so what?
Speaker A:And these are all things that have happened to me over the past six months, right?
Speaker A:I've lost jobs, damn near lost my life.
Speaker A:You.
Speaker A:You think you lived in Joburg?
Speaker A:Nah, you ain't live in Joburg until the gun is flashed in your face, my boy.
Speaker A:I'm telling you that.
Speaker A:But through all that, I realized that no one's gonna come pick me up.
Speaker A:No one's gonna come save me.
Speaker A:No one's gonna sit on this chair and record.
Speaker A:No one is gonna upload anything on Night Talk Sports.
Speaker A:No one is gonna tell you what's happening in the basketball world, in the football world, mma.
Speaker A:No one is gonna do anything for me.
Speaker A:And I could sit in my feels and not do anything, or I could sit in my fields and still try to move through.
Speaker A:So that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
Speaker A:Thank you for being patient with me.
Speaker A:I know I took a while.
Speaker A:It wasn't my intention, trust me.
Speaker A:I didn't intend to leave this podcast and this wonderful platform that I've built, and I'm still building for so long because all I'm seeing now, and it sucks that it took a lot of bad things happening, but how I'm seeing it now is I've lost six months.
Speaker A:I'm six months behind.
Speaker A:So what does that mean?
Speaker A:I am gonna work my ass off to make this the best damn sports podcast, if not the best damn podcast this whole country got.
Speaker A:And if anybody is gonna stop me, it's gonn.
Speaker A:And I won't allow that to happen.
Speaker A:So who is gonna stop me?
Speaker A:Not a damn soul.
Speaker A:I'm having a moment.
Speaker B:Sorry, Karen.
Speaker A:I'm having a moment.
Speaker A:Damn, where was I?
Speaker B:No one's gonna stop you.
Speaker B:Nobody.
Speaker A:Ain't nobody who gonna stop me?
Speaker A:Nobody who gonna stop me.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:So I know I'm good at what I do.
Speaker A:I got confidence and talent coming out of the wazoo.
Speaker A:People love my stuff.
Speaker A:All 60 of you, you know, and that's enough.
Speaker A:And people believe in me.
Speaker A:And if someone believes in you, then that's all it takes, bro.
Speaker A:All it takes is just one person to believe in you.
Speaker A:And then the rest is history, you know, the rest is on you.
Speaker A:Just put in the work.
Speaker A:And I'm embarrassed to say I didn't put in the work at all the past six months.
Speaker A:Not saying I wasn't doing anything, but I'd really didn't put in the work of the past six months.
Speaker A:So that's why I took the decision in the busiest, probably the busiest season of my life to still get back to anyway.
Speaker A:That was heavy, and that was a lot.
Speaker A:I'm gonna end it by saying, young man, young woman, take care of yourself.
Speaker A:That's something a lot of people have been telling me as well.
Speaker A:Take care of yourself.
Speaker A:Your mental health is important, your space is important, and you are important.
Speaker A:And if no one's told you that today or in a while, I'm gonna tell you that you are important, you're needed, and you're valued.
Speaker A:Somewhere out there in the world, you know there's at least one person out there that says that about you.
Speaker A:So take care of yourself.
Speaker A:Be good, be kind.
Speaker A:Life will knock you down.
Speaker A:What you need to do is get up and kick its ass because ain't nobody gonna do it for you.
Speaker A:I'm done being serious now.
Speaker A:I'm done.
Speaker A:I'm done.
Speaker A:I'm done.
Speaker A:That was all the seriousness I had in me.
Speaker A:We are back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Speaker A:Sips Water.
Speaker A:My scubu.
Speaker A:I got his goo boo.
Speaker A:Because I started taking creatine now, so I have to drink at least three liters of water.
Speaker A:I don't know why we need to drink so much water.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:But it's fine.
Speaker A:It's fine.
Speaker A:We do what we must.
Speaker A:Okay, so the question that's been on everybody's mind.
Speaker A:Where were you when Bam dropped 83 points?
Speaker A:I was sleeping.
Speaker A:I was sleeping.
Speaker A:I was sleepy.
Speaker A:So were the Wizards, apparently.
Speaker A:Cuz there's no way I could give.
Speaker A:Listen, listen, listen.
Speaker A:I'm about to just start saying random names, right?
Speaker A:Random names, random names.
Speaker A:Luka Doncic, Shea Gilgis, Alexander, Trey Young, Steph Curry, Damian lillard, Donovan Mitchell, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards.
Speaker A:Who else?
Speaker A:Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Lamelo Ball, maybe Carl Anthony Towns.
Speaker A:Nah, I'm getting to 20.
Speaker A:I'm getting to 20.
Speaker A:I'm Getting James Harden, Kawhi Leonard.
Speaker A:I need three names.
Speaker A:Damn it, man, I need three names.
Speaker A:I need three names.
Speaker A:Wemby De' Aaron Fox.
Speaker A:I need a 20th name.
Speaker A:I need a 20th name.
Speaker A:I need a 20th name.
Speaker A:Who am I forgetting?
Speaker A:Devin Booker.
Speaker A:Deep Book.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:Deep Book.
Speaker A:I just gave you 20 names.
Speaker A:If I walk you up on a random Tuesday.
Speaker A:And I said, ayo, bro, look at these guys.
Speaker A:Who do you think is gonna drop 80 points in a game?
Speaker A:You probably give me all those 20 names and probably 20 more before we get to Obamalicious Adebayo.
Speaker A:But no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker A:It happened, it happened.
Speaker A:That name, it.
Speaker A:He dropped 83 points on a random Tuesday on the Washington Wizards and he took 43 free throws, if not 46 and probably just as many shots.
Speaker A:And yeah, great, great, great, great.
Speaker A:Kudos to him.
Speaker A:Kudos to him.
Speaker A:I have no problem, no problem with anyone dropping 83 points.
Speaker A:As a professional basketball player, you are in the league because you are good at basketball.
Speaker A:And anyone can have a hot hand.
Speaker A:I'm taking.
Speaker A:I'm saying this as somebody who was playing basketball just a few days ago, and boy, hey, they were flowing.
Speaker A:Yeah, they were going.
Speaker A:And I'm not even a shooter.
Speaker A:Imagine.
Speaker A:So that can't happen, though.
Speaker A:That cannot happen.
Speaker A:You cannot have a man dropping 83 points on you.
Speaker A:And he did that by staying in the game when they were up 30 in the fourth quarter and they were still getting fouls and manipulating the game just so this dude can get 80 points.
Speaker A:And damn, man, I even mad at the fact that he's over Kobe.
Speaker A:Sure, he's ahead of Kobe now.
Speaker A:Everybody's mad about that.
Speaker A:But records are meant to be broken, Mind you, Kobe didn't even hold the record.
Speaker A:He said he was second place, by the way.
Speaker A:It's such a weird list now.
Speaker A:Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, like what?
Speaker A:But fine, Bam did what he had to do.
Speaker A:Nice guy.
Speaker A:And I'm happy for him.
Speaker A:He dropped 83 points.
Speaker A:A moment he'll cherish forever.
Speaker A:His mom was in the crowd.
Speaker A:His girl Asia Wilson, who happens to be the goat and her respective league, was in the crowd.
Speaker A:The stars were aligned, right?
Speaker A:But this is where people start questioning whether it was ethical.
Speaker A:He could have stayed.
Speaker A:Could have stayed out the game for the rest of the fourth quarter, chilled with his nice 70, and nobody would have given him any less credit.
Speaker A:Staying in the game, just an extra nine minutes a game you were winning ended up giving you the most scrutinized 83 point game in NBA history.
Speaker A:Instead of saying, oh, damn, Bam dropped 83 points and it's one of the greatest performances we'll ever see.
Speaker A:We now Saying Bam dropped 83 points, and it's one of the worst things I've seen happen on a basketball court.
Speaker A:Go figure, right?
Speaker A:Oh, that's the only basketball I'm talking.
Speaker A:Are we.
Speaker A:Are we gonna.
Speaker A:I hate.
Speaker A:I don't even know how to start the segment, bro.
Speaker A:I hate the fact that I know I'm gonna watch it.
Speaker A:I hate the fact that I'm gonna hate watching it, and yet I won't stop watching.
Speaker A:It's like.
Speaker A:It's like a car crash.
Speaker A:You just can't take your eyes off of it.
Speaker A:We all want to see Mike Tyson fighting Floyd Mayweather.
Speaker A:As much as we don't want to see it, we are gonna watch it.
Speaker A:Shout out.
Speaker A:Is it on Netflix?
Speaker A:I think it's on Netflix.
Speaker A:I know he's fighting Pacquiao.
Speaker B:When is it?
Speaker A:Somewhere in April.
Speaker A:Soon.
Speaker A:Soon.
Speaker A:But the Pacquiao one.
Speaker A:We'll talk about the Pacquiao fight because two broke legends just trying to make some money.
Speaker A:Can you.
Speaker A:Can you even hate?
Speaker A:Like, can you even hate?
Speaker A:If I have a skill set and it's my biggest money maker, sure, why not?
Speaker A:As a boxing fan, you may not like it, but what can you do?
Speaker A:What can you say?
Speaker A:So Freud Mayweather is fighting Mike Tyson in April.
Speaker A:Do with that information what you will.
Speaker A:I will watch it.
Speaker A:I will not watch it.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:All I can tell you is that it feels so damn good to be back here in front of this curtain with my notes, with my new Batman, and of course, with you.
Speaker A:This has been fun.
Speaker A:I don't even know what episode we are now.
Speaker A:40 something.
Speaker A:I think it's 44.
Speaker A:We're somewhere there.
Speaker A:We're in the 40s, but yeah, this has been.
Speaker A:I talk sports.
Speaker A:I'm your boy, Mukundi.
Speaker A:And sorry for the wait.
Speaker A:Well, we'll get there, you know, we'll find our feet again and we'll win, as always.
Speaker A:Go watch sports.
Speaker A:Be nice to your mother.
Speaker A:And of course,
