In this episode of "A Changed Mind", our host, David Bayer, challenges conventional wisdom on wealth creation. David argues that taking on greater responsibility, not avoiding it, is the key to success. David shares his journey from addiction to building a $40 million business, emphasizing how assuming responsibility for problems leads to personal growth and financial prosperity.
David encourages listeners to see global issues as opportunities for innovation and impact, rather than insurmountable challenges. David's approach reframes the pursuit of wealth as a byproduct of solving significant problems, citing examples like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

Mentioned in this episode:
Desire for something slightly different. Don't desire for a billion dollars. Ask for a billion dollars of responsibility. Ask to see a problem so big that it requires a billion dollars to flow through you and then become the solution for it. That's how you become a billionaire. Not by wanting to become a billionaire, but by taking so much responsibility by solving such a big problem that a billion dollars has to flow through you. Look at the Jeff Bezos, the Elon Musk, the Mark Zuckerbergs of the world. The only thing they've done different than you is they've stepped up and claimed the responsibility. You can ask yourself, do I really like how they're doing it? Would you do it differently? If the answer is yes, then do something about it and claim the responsibility for yourself. Welcome to a Changed Mind, a journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spirituality of mindset and personal growth, to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth and relationships, to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capture, and democracy. Each and every episode reminds us of the certainty of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools, and timeless wisdom inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity, and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy, and the potential you have inside, you're in the right place. Welcome to a Changed Mind. What if everything you've been taught about getting rich is backwards? And what if instead of avoiding responsibility, chasing time and money, and blaming your circumstances, the fastest path to wealth is actually taking on more responsibility. I built a $40 million business by doing the exact opposite of what most people do. And today I'm going to show you how Taking responsibility problems that aren't even yours is the secret to activating innovation, attracting resources, and literally becoming wealthy by becoming the solution the world needs. Responsibility is a thing that most of us try to avoid. We've got too many things to already manage in our lives to take on more responsibility. It's like, I've got the kids, I've got work, I've got study, I've got my money problems, I've got my health problems. I literally cannot take on any more. And of course I have to find time to continue to swipe and look at cats on my social media. And I get it. There's never enough time. There's never enough money. And so we pursue time and money as an end. But this is where the trap is. Because you can't get more time or get more money. Trying to get more time and money, you get it by actually taking on even more responsibility. Most people are so full, they have no more bandwidth. And so when we experience more problems in our lives, in our business, in the world, we, what we do is we play the blame game. So that's the way we relinquish responsibility. When we feel like we can't handle anymore, we find someone else to blame. We say, I'm not responsible for what's going on at my work. That's such and such. So and so's responsibility. That's not my job. That's. I'm not responsible for what's going on in my community, in my school system, at my church. They're the ones to blame. I'm not responsible for what's going on in the world. That war way over there, those politicians, inflation, that's not my fault. In fact, I'm a victim of it. And oh, by the way, life is hard. I don't have enough time, I don't have enough money. I'm a victim. It's really important to take a look at this victimhood that most of us are living in. Because when you get real about it, you get honest about it, that's when everything can change. Because the shocking truth is actually assuming even greater responsibility is the way that you get rich. It's the way you get out of the time and money and life trap. You don't actually distance yourself from the problem. You actually get right up close to it and you take on the bigger problems. And here's the thing, when you do, all of your little ones will go away. One of my mentors said the difference between rich people and broke people is one thing and one thing only. And that is that rich people have decided to take on and solve bigger problems. So the little ones don't even matter anymore. So I want to redefine or define responsibility with you. Responsibility isn't some burden that you don't have time and energy for. Responsibility is the act of assuming the ability to respond. It is a response ability, acknowledging the capacity that you have to respond to a problem and that you can, with your own inner resource and external action, transform any problem you see in your life, in your business, in your health or in the world into a solution. And so what are we responding to? Well, we're responding to the things that we see that don't align with the expectations of how we Things should be. We label these things as problems. These are the gaps that we see in our perception of the world. Problems and gaps everywhere. There's problems or gaps in our relationship or our business. My partner and I have friction. Well, responsibility says that's actually my fault. My employees aren't listening or doing their job right. Responsibility says, I'm the one who needs to change. Man, just look out into the world. The world is chaotic, it's unfair, it's unjust. We see that literally peeking out in the world right now in so many profound ways. Responsibility says, show me what I can do to change the way things are. Rather than feeling like I'm a victim of the world or other people are a victim of the world, let me re engineer it. And if you look at any type of entrepreneur, leader, successful person, they decided that instead of complaining about their circumstances or the problem, they were going to do something about it. They may not have known how, but they made the decision. And from that decision, the how became clear. They decided they had the ability to respond. And when they took on that responsibility, they were rewarded with more wealth, more influence, more control, more personal sovereignty. They elevated themselves out of the day to day troubles of not having enough money at the end of the month, having a shitty boss or a shitty job, struggling with their health or their relationships. And they transcended the problem by assuming responsibility for it. My awareness that responsibility equals wealth, freedom, joy actually came from taking responsibility over my alcoholism, my drug addiction and my sex addiction. One of the many reasons why I'm grateful for my addiction is this revelation. Rather than what I had been doing, which was blaming other people or blaming my parents for what had happened to me, I took responsibility. I claimed my ability to respond. And as a benefit of that responsibility that I took, I worked my 12 step program, got a sponsor, got into fellowship, got into therapy, got rigorously honest with myself, worked the steps, I developed recovery. I got my life back and I got my soul back. And I only got it back because I stopped blaming other people for my problems or the problems. And I said, you know what? I'm gonna take responsibility for that. And I started to realize after that happened that wow, like this thing that I wanted to blame other people for, when I assumed responsibility for it, I became more powerful. That was the turning point. Not only in my personal growth, I became more powerful in my self love. I became more powerful in my capacity to forgive others. I became more powerful in becoming aware of my character defects and my limiting beliefs. But it was at that time, soon Thereafter that I met the love of my life. I started getting clear on what I wanted to do and what my purpose and my destiny were. I started making more money. I grew more powerful. I was looking at responsibility the wrong way. I wanted to blame others for my addiction. I wanted to blame others for being broke. I wanted to blame others for my problems. But when I took responsibility for my addiction, rather than blaming it, I found everything I was looking for. And when that happened, I started looking for where else I felt trapped, where else I felt hopeless, where else I was blaming or complaining. And I found a lot of areas because that was pretty much what I had been doing up until that point in time. One thing I noticed was I was tired of the motivation and inspiration.
tical that we're launching in:Instead of saying, I can't know that you can, and start looking at all the things that are going on around you that you're passionate about, that you want to change and decide that you can and you will change them. I want you to get this. I started as $125 a session life coach, but I understood that the key to success is responding to what you see in the world. And I went from helping people solve their internal suffering through mindset to then helping entrepreneurs solve their business struggles through my business frameworks and curriculums to now working on solving the world's biggest problems. I didn't anticipate that would lead to a portfolio of conscious companies that are redesigning healthcare and redesigning financial systems and creating containers and commun for awakened people to come together, helping people discover their purpose and aligning as a community to literally re engineer civilization together. But that's what unfolds when you stop sloughing off the world's problems to other people and you say, I'm going to do something about this. God, give me the ability to change this. Use me as an instrument of your will and let's transform this together. Whether it's a political dividend, whether it's hyperinflation, totalitarian control, censorship, or in conflict in the world, I'm taking responsibility for it. Most people say it's hopeless. Why are they doing this? Why doesn't someone do something about it? Guess what? You could and you can. And so my practice is this. I pray for the people in a region of armed conflict, and then I ask my higher power to provide me solutions according to his will to guide me into becoming a part of the solution. That's the activation principle. Whatever your higher power is, you ask and it will always be given. But you have to ask for more responsibility. Because what flows from there, what starts to flow forth are ideas, relationships, wealth, resources, time, coincidences, synchronicities, your growth skills, all of the things that you need. The energy, the character will flow through to you so that you can become an instrument of change. At an event that I spoke at a couple of years ago, there was a young man. He was inspired by what I was sharing on stage. And he came up and I asked him what he wanted to create in the world. And he told me he wanted to become a billionaire. I said, hey, can I help you? Fine tune that a little bit. Can I give you a little bit of feedback? He said, yes. I said, desire for something slightly different. Don't desire for a billion dollars, ask for a billion dollars of responsibility. Ask to see a problem so big that it requires a billion dollars to flow through you and then become the solution for it. That's how you become a billionaire. Not by wanting to become a billionaire, but by taking so much responsibility, by solving such a big problem that a billion dollars has to flow through you. This is very much the opposite paradigm of people who go, well, that's not my problem, or I don't have time or I don't have enough money. I get it. But that's a scarcity mindset. That's why they don't have more. That's why there are little problems are such big problems. People pursue time and money as an end when really they're just byproducts of asking for greater responsibility in the world. Most people complain about their circumstances. They feel like they're helpless. They don't understand that if they would just see something in the world that they would like to see changed, whether that's righting the wrongs that you see in the world or righting the wrongs that you see in your organization, or righting the wrongs that you see in your family, the way to do that is by taking radical, unequivocal responsibility.
