Alan: Another thing that's good to consider for early April is seeding your lawn. If you have bare spots, it's a good time to go ahead and put some grass seed out there.

One thing you need to be aware of, though, is if you put a pre-emergent down, a pre-emergent prevents weed seeds from germinating, but it will also permit grass seeds from germinating. So, you're going to want to make sure that after you put seeds out that you don't put a pre-emergent on until that those seeds have started germinating.

And then you want to put on a spring fertilizer.

Again, some of this can be done late March, but then early April is a great time to put on the pre-emergents and crabgrass control.

It's a good time to get your lawn aerated. It gets into good shape so that it takes advantage of all the weather coming up that's warm. The lawn will recover quickly and you can have a much nicer lawn at that point.
