Shownotes

In this episode, I talk about why doubt often shows up when you are growing your tutoring business. Many tutors think clarity should feel certain, yet uncertainty is common when you raise prices, try new offers or share more personal content.

If you are second guessing yourself, this episode will help you understand what your doubt is really telling you.

 Enjoy :-)

Sumantha:

There is this idea that clarity should feel certain, or that when you're on the right track, you won't question yourself. But in my experience, both personally and when I'm supporting clients, doubt often shows up when you're actually expanding into something new.

Sumantha:

It doesn't mean you're doing something wrong as such. So let's say you're trying a new offer or you're raising your prices, or you are even sharing a more personal story online where you don't normally. Your mind might whisper, who am I to do this? Or what if this doesn't work? Or what if people think a certain way about it?

Sumantha:

But that doesn't mean it's an indication that doing that thing is wrong. It often means that you care and it means that you are still stretching, so to speak, so you can still feel doubt and move forward. It might even be a sign that you're doing something meaningful.

Sumantha:

A client recently shared how nervous she was to run her first group class after years, and I'm talking over 10 years of one to one tutoring.

Sumantha:

She kept questioning her decision. Was her price too high? Would anyone sign up? Was she experienced enough to run a group? And even though she'd done all the planning, she almost backed out of launching the groups.

Sumantha:

But she did. And not only did she fill it, she also found that she really loved the energy of the group format.

Sumantha:

The doubt didn't mean she was on the wrong path. It was simply a sign that she was stepping into something new.

Sumantha:

If you're second guessing yourself right now, try and pause and think. What is this doubt really pointing to? Is it a sign to stop, or is it actually a sign that you're growing, that you're doing something new, and that doubt is just a natural feeling.
