Speaker:

Well, good morning, Spring House. You

Speaker:

know, it's always a good day to be in the house of the Lord, because

Speaker:

God is good, isn't he? And he is faithful,

Speaker:

and he is here. And. And I'm so glad that you are here.

Speaker:

I have quite a bit to share with you this morning before we get into

Speaker:

what God has next for us. So if you'll just bear with me, the first

Speaker:

thing I want to share with you, and many of you know this already, but

Speaker:

our brother, Merlin Henderson went to be with the Lord

Speaker:

this week. And I just want to thank those who

Speaker:

gathered together here yesterday to celebrate his life.

Speaker:

And, you know, Merlin was here last Sunday, but he's in the

Speaker:

presence of Jesus this Sunday. And

Speaker:

I know that he heard those words, well done, good and faithful

Speaker:

servant. And so I just want to thank those who pulled together to help

Speaker:

facilitate that gathering. And then, you know, with. I

Speaker:

say this with such humility. But after that, there was a little gathering over here

Speaker:

for a baby shower for Sherry and me. And I just want to thank you

Speaker:

guys for loving our family so well and just humbled to

Speaker:

be a part of this family. And we just love you guys. And we are

Speaker:

excited about little Eliana to make her debut here in December.

Speaker:

It's gonna be real. It's gonna be. It's gonna be something, that's for sure.

Speaker:

Tomorrow night, ladies, Tomorrow night there's a special gathering at the

Speaker:

Burkett House Farm right in Rock Springs.

Speaker:

It's a Bloom meeting. And so we invite you to be a part of that

Speaker:

tomorrow night. I know it's gonna be a sweet time Together, together,

Speaker:

together. And to worship. So if you'll make that a part of your plan

Speaker:

this week, I don't think you'll regret that. Be a part of that tomorrow night

Speaker:

over there. And if you are a business owner or a

Speaker:

manager and you have been attending the business collective that's been

Speaker:

happening once a month here, we are not gonna be meeting this Tuesday. You're gonna

Speaker:

receive some special information via the app regarding the business

Speaker:

collective and what'? So there will not be a

Speaker:

meeting for the business Collective this Tuesday. All right, moving right down the

Speaker:

week, on Thursday, we will continue our midweek

Speaker:

gathering. Pastor Justin is going to be bringing a

Speaker:

series from the Book of James. And so I'm sure Pastor Justin would love for

Speaker:

you to come and hear what the Lord's been stirring in his heart. And it's

Speaker:

going to be rich. And so I invite you to be part of that six

Speaker:

to seven midweek gathering on Thursday. This will Actually take us and close out

Speaker:

our year. And so we're excited about that. So come and be a part of

Speaker:

that. And then backing back up to

Speaker:

this Sunday. Today, today, two things taking place

Speaker:

immediately after this gathering. We have something called open tables. And

Speaker:

so if you're interested in kind of getting to know some people

Speaker:

who you're sitting next to or sitting across from, there are some people represented at

Speaker:

restaurants and we invite you to be a part of that. I don't know exactly.

Speaker:

Do they go on the app today to figure that out? So go on the

Speaker:

app, click on that. It will give you some instructions. Essentially, you just gotta show

Speaker:

up and eat. I can do that really well. Okay, so show up and eat

Speaker:

with some friends. And then also, if you have a child

Speaker:

kindergarten through sixth grade, we are going to be doing a

Speaker:

Christmas show with Spring House Kids. Now, this is not for

Speaker:

the community theater. This is specifically Spring House Kids. And we invite all

Speaker:

children kindergarten through sixth grade. Dee Warren is going to be directing that

Speaker:

and it's going to be really, really good. Okay, so if you'd like

Speaker:

your child to be a part of that 2:30 today. 2:30 today

Speaker:

in the kids ministry area, you can bring them and they'll get to be a

Speaker:

part of that. Everyone's going to get a part. It's going to. Okay, two more

Speaker:

things. Two more things. We have a fall festival coming

Speaker:

up. It is at the end of the month and we need as many helping

Speaker:

hands as possible. And so if you are willing and able, we'd like

Speaker:

to invite you to come to a luncheon that we're going to have for this

Speaker:

that will be on October 26th. We're going to feed you and

Speaker:

we'd like you to be a part of helping. This is cross ministry. So all

Speaker:

of our ministries are going to be represented here. And guys, we have thousands of

Speaker:

people who come. All these kids come and we have an opportunity to love

Speaker:

on them. And so be a part of this if you can, and come to

Speaker:

this luncheon and we'll give you all the information regarding that. And then lastly,

Speaker:

if you are newer to Spring House and you have not had an

Speaker:

opportunity to come to one of our newcomer luncheons, we would invite you to

Speaker:

come and meet the pastoral staff and hear the vision of the church. Get to

Speaker:

know us a little bit more, see how you can plug in, ask your questions

Speaker:

about who we are. We are not crazy.

Speaker:

Maybe. No, we really would love to have you come. So

Speaker:

sign up by scanning that QR code. We just want to make sure. You have

Speaker:

enough. We have enough food for you. And we'll be gathering then, so

Speaker:

you'll be hearing more about that. Okay. Fire

Speaker:

hydrant announcements this morning. Okay. You got all that information. If you

Speaker:

missed any of it, then too bad. No, if you missed any of it, go

Speaker:

online on our Facebook. Go online or on the app, and

Speaker:

all that information is there for you. Now, God has saved the very best

Speaker:

for right now. And I am so, so excited about God's Word today,

Speaker:

and Pastor Barbie is going to bring it. Would you welcome Pastor Barbie?

Speaker:

I'm always excited about the Word. I'm always excited

Speaker:

about what he's been sharing, and I am particularly excited

Speaker:

this morning because I do believe that the Lord has given me a word for

Speaker:

this house. And I don't say that lightly.

Speaker:

He has awakened me night after night, but on

Speaker:

Thursday morning, I just feel like

Speaker:

he just shared some stuff with me that I'm supposed to share with you that

Speaker:

have to do with the calling and direction of this house. And

Speaker:

I'm excited because I need clarity and direction.

Speaker:

Don't you? If we're going to invest in our time together and

Speaker:

we're going to invest in this house and what God's doing in this house,

Speaker:

let's all run in the same direction you want to. So let's see what

Speaker:

God's got for us today. Let's stand first and let's read his Word,

Speaker:

and you will know immediately what we're going to be talking about a

Speaker:

little bit. Okay? Now, as Pastor Kevin would say, where's that gusto?

Speaker:

Now, there is in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, a

Speaker:

pool which in Aramaic is called Bethesda

Speaker:

and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades.

Speaker:

Here a great number of disabled people used to lie.

Speaker:

The blind, the lame, the paralyzed one who was

Speaker:

there had been an invalid for 38 years.

Speaker:

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had

Speaker:

been in this condition for a long time, he asked him,

Speaker:

do you want to get well, sir? The invalid

Speaker:

replied, I have no one to help me into the pool

Speaker:

when the water is stirred, while I am trying to get in,

Speaker:

someone else goes down ahead of me. Then Jesus

Speaker:

said to him, get up. Pick up your mat and walk

Speaker:

at once. The man was cured. He picked up his

Speaker:

mat and he walked. Father, God, I'm so grateful for your word, for

Speaker:

your truth, for your direction. Father, we are lost without

Speaker:

direction unless we can grab it in your word. And

Speaker:

so, Father, today I'm praying for you that all the walls come down.

Speaker:

I'm praying, Father. God, that the Holy Spirit would do what

Speaker:

none of us can do. And, Father, that you would capture our hearts

Speaker:

today with the vision that you have for this house. Father,

Speaker:

it's not about the vision we carry. It's the calling that you have

Speaker:

placed. And so, Father, we're going to come before you and listen

Speaker:

as the Holy Spirit, Father, shares with our hearts. Let my

Speaker:

stuff sit fall in your stand in Jesus name. Amen.

Speaker:

Amen. As I

Speaker:

said, I believe the Lord has given us direction. And

Speaker:

one of the ways that you know when the Lord is

Speaker:

doing something is that it's so. Well, number one, it's consistent with His

Speaker:

Word. Number two, it just. In the kingdom,

Speaker:

there's this sequence that happens when you follow him. And

Speaker:

the generations after generations somehow tie into

Speaker:

that same sequence. And one of the things spoken over

Speaker:

this house long ago, which actually gave us our name. In

Speaker:

Psalm 84, it says, when you pass through the valley of tears, you make a

Speaker:

place of springs. This place is called Spring House.

Speaker:

Because we are going to have people who pass through these

Speaker:

doors in tears. We are going to have suffering pass

Speaker:

through these doors. If we are doing our job, if we are doing

Speaker:

what God has called us to do. The broken should feel welcome here.

Speaker:

Those that are wounded should feel welcome here. Those that God,

Speaker:

anybody God brings to these doors should encounter

Speaker:

him here. The goodness of the Lord. And

Speaker:

so, as he began to share with me about the pool of Bethesda,

Speaker:

let me well, which one do I want to do first, Lord?

Speaker:

Okay, start here. The Lord

Speaker:

awakened me with a poem he had given me some time ago.

Speaker:

And I think it's on page 97. I moved my.

Speaker:

I sat by you last Sunday. I sang all

Speaker:

the songs and knew all of the words. I smiled when it was

Speaker:

appropriate, forced a laugh when it was necessary.

Speaker:

At one point, the minister encouraged us to greet one another. And I thought,

Speaker:

yes, she'll notice me now.

Speaker:

Surely she'll see beyond this church face. But

Speaker:

you didn't. You shook hands with one person, one person that

Speaker:

you knew. I sat by you last Sunday.

Speaker:

I cried through the entire service. You couldn't see it

Speaker:

because the tears ran down my soul, not my face.

Speaker:

Did you know that all week I have despaired of life and of living?

Speaker:

Do you care that I was overwhelmed? Just one word

Speaker:

and I would have crumbled into your arms. I am so broken.

Speaker:

I sat by you last Sunday. Before I took

Speaker:

my seat, I prayed, God help me. And all of a sudden you

Speaker:

were there, sitting down beside me. And I knew your reputation. I knew

Speaker:

you Were one of the leaders. You were over this ministry.

Speaker:

You knew how to touch the heart of God. And hope rose up on the

Speaker:

inside of me. Thank you, God. You've heard my prayer,

Speaker:

but you didn't glance my way. I sat

Speaker:

by you last Sunday. I didn't want you to be God to

Speaker:

me. I just needed you to show me his love. I didn't need

Speaker:

you to perform a miracle. I just needed you to care enough to

Speaker:

pray for one. I didn't need you to be a perfect

Speaker:

minister. I just needed you to be my sister or be

Speaker:

my brother. I sat by you last Sunday.

Speaker:

Do you know that I am bound tightly by this thing that I'm

Speaker:

battling? Can you see beyond this face? And can

Speaker:

you guess that Satan torments me with my past to the point that

Speaker:

I cannot breathe? Do you care

Speaker:

that I'm bowing to fear, crippled by anxiety?

Speaker:

What do you see when you look at me? And have you ever really

Speaker:

looked? I sat by you last Sunday.

Speaker:

I left feeling worse than when I came in. I

Speaker:

know you're not my God. And I didn't look to you for healing. But you

Speaker:

are my sister and you are my brother. And I looked to you for

Speaker:

compassion, for a gentle human touch.

Speaker:

I needed his kindness distributed through your

Speaker:

hands. I sat by you last Sunday. Do you

Speaker:

even remember me? Would you recognize me if I

Speaker:

sat by you again today? Will you remember

Speaker:

my words? Will you seek me out? Will you continue to just look

Speaker:

inward? Or will you finally reach out?

Speaker:

Will you encourage me with his words coming

Speaker:

from your lips? Please,

Speaker:

I beg you, look for

Speaker:

me. I'm so easy to find.

Speaker:

I sat by you last Sunday.

Speaker:

Today we're going to talk about healing at the pool.

Speaker:

Today we're going to talk about the pool of Bethesda.

Speaker:

And we're going to talk about what Jesus actually

Speaker:

did at that pool and the calling that he has placed

Speaker:

on our lives. And. And. And I need to give you a little bit of

Speaker:

context before we jump in.

Speaker:

Number one, I need to tell you my original context

Speaker:

with the pool of Bethesda. My mom and dad

Speaker:

pastored a church, the Pentecostal Deliverance Church of God.

Speaker:

Yes, Glory. And. And it was a lot.

Speaker:

It was a lot. But it was wonderful, too.

Speaker:

And every year they would have a pool of Bethesda

Speaker:

service. And at that Pool of Bethesda service.

Speaker:

Now you have to understand, this was a church of about maybe 50

Speaker:

people. And we would plan that Pool

Speaker:

of Bethesda service just like y' all are planning Fall

Speaker:

festival. Notice I said y' all Because I'm on vacation anyway.

Speaker:

See, the Lord had the wisdom and insight to let me marry my husband on

Speaker:

October 29th, and we get to go away for our anniversary anyway.

Speaker:

But we would plan for that service. We would plan for that service

Speaker:

and it would always be on a Sunday night. Because everybody knows that only

Speaker:

real Christians go to church on Sunday night. And

Speaker:

no, that was,

Speaker:

oh, Lord, Kevin's going to go, we're going to start a Sunday night service.

Speaker:

No, but in my day, it was. That Sunday night service was

Speaker:

what my daddy would call the knockdown drag outs. And it was

Speaker:

just different. And so on that Sunday night, people would come. You

Speaker:

know, the people who came would bring people with them. And

Speaker:

it was a healing service. And my dad, we would have these

Speaker:

tubs, kind of like Pastor Kevin had the rubber balls in last week. And

Speaker:

there were tubs like that. And we had one little bathroom over to the side.

Speaker:

And my job, I was the first known

Speaker:

Pentecostal water girl. And it was my job

Speaker:

to refill the buckets. And. And that was not always

Speaker:

an easy task because Sister Gertrude Moore would come to those healing services

Speaker:

and she would get in that bucket and she would get very happy in the

Speaker:

Lord and she would shout pretty much all of the water out

Speaker:

and then eventually would fall over backwards and

Speaker:

the water would go up the back of her dress. And my dad would go,

Speaker:

I'm going to need more water. And so I kept

Speaker:

extra buckets. As a child, I did

Speaker:

not understand what was happening. As a child, I didn't get

Speaker:

it. I found it interesting. I found it tiring, and

Speaker:

I didn't get it. But I look back now

Speaker:

and I go, how desperate, how

Speaker:

needy? How far do you have to reach

Speaker:

inside yourself to humble yourself to

Speaker:

the point that you will walk in front of a congregation, put

Speaker:

your feet in a rubber bucket of water,

Speaker:

just asking God to move on your behalf.

Speaker:

And I count it. Such an honor and such a privilege

Speaker:

to just carry the water for those moments.

Speaker:

May we all carry the water for

Speaker:

those moments. And that is just where the Lord has had me

Speaker:

with this whole Pool of Bethesda thing, because my

Speaker:

understanding was limited. But can I tell you Thursday night?

Speaker:

Thursday morning, actually, it's about 4 in the morning. The Lord just woke

Speaker:

me up.

Speaker:

The Lord just woke me up and he said, I want to show you something.

Speaker:

I want to show you something. And anytime the Lord tells you he wants to

Speaker:

show you something, get up, get up, get an

Speaker:

ink pen, get a piece of paper, whatever it is, but get

Speaker:

up. And. And he just began to

Speaker:

share all of this about this pool and this time

Speaker:

and bringing scriptures to my remembrance. And see, that's what he does.

Speaker:

It's like all of that stuff that they poured into you when you were a

Speaker:

child, all of those stories about Jesus, it just. These

Speaker:

things started coming up and the Lord just began connecting

Speaker:

these dots in my life and in my spirit. And I'm like, God,

Speaker:

that's what I want. That's where I believe we're supposed to go. And

Speaker:

as a body, he just began to unfold it. And so let me lay this.

Speaker:

The pool of Bethesda, there were actually two pools and

Speaker:

they were just outside the sheep gate. And the sheep

Speaker:

gate was exactly what it sounds like. It's where the

Speaker:

sacrifices. It's where the lambs were taken into

Speaker:

the temple areas that the sacrifices were going. And

Speaker:

just outside of that sheep gate, there was these pools,

Speaker:

this pool of Bethesda. There were a couple of pools, there were some other pools.

Speaker:

But in order for you to go into

Speaker:

communal worship, in order for you to enter those grounds and

Speaker:

go in and offer the sacrifices, to bring the worship, you

Speaker:

had to be ceremoniously clean. You had to

Speaker:

go through the Levitical law said you had to be

Speaker:

cleansed before you could enter into communal worship.

Speaker:

And so these pools were actually designed for people who

Speaker:

were journeying in to bring their sacrifices. These pools were

Speaker:

because to be clean, you had to go in and you had to dip your

Speaker:

hands in that water, you had to wash your head, you had to be

Speaker:

cleansed by these waters that were in these pools

Speaker:

now. It had to be living water, had to be living

Speaker:

water. It had to be flowing, it had to be streams. It

Speaker:

couldn't be stagnant. It had to be alive. And that was part of

Speaker:

the cleansing. And so here are these pools, and in these five

Speaker:

porches, you've got long porches that run this way,

Speaker:

you've got porches that run this way, and then you've got one that runs right

Speaker:

down the center of the two pools. Under those porches,

Speaker:

each of those five porches,

Speaker:

all of broken humanity

Speaker:

lay the lame, the sick,

Speaker:

the broken, the hurting, the wounded.

Speaker:

Anybody who needed a touch of the miraculous,

Speaker:

anybody who was. And I'm thinking about this, and I'm thinking

Speaker:

they're laying on the outskirts of rituals,

Speaker:

hoping for life to be in the water, hoping for healing

Speaker:

to be there. And they weren't there for just 20

Speaker:

minutes. Some of them had been there for

Speaker:

a very long time. They took their mats, they built

Speaker:

beds, they resided under Those

Speaker:

columns waiting for the water to be alive,

Speaker:

for the water to be troubled. And I'm just so struck

Speaker:

by that. And see if you've got your Bible right now. If

Speaker:

you look at the fourth verse, John, chapter five,

Speaker:

some of you will have a passage of Scripture that says an

Speaker:

angel would come and trouble the water. And then some of you

Speaker:

will have Bibles that the translation, it'll say four, and then it'll just

Speaker:

have a B right there because they've omitted that verse.

Speaker:

Some of the earliest original scrolls and texts

Speaker:

do not contain that verse. It was actually in one of the

Speaker:

translations that the King James came from. And I was thinking

Speaker:

about that. You know, some of them, I was like, lord, you know, some of

Speaker:

them haven't, some of them don't. And number one,

Speaker:

it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if it was an

Speaker:

angel or if it was the Lord or whatever was happening, but something was

Speaker:

happening there. Something was happening there to the

Speaker:

extent that the people were gathering, waiting on the move.

Speaker:

They were waiting and it wasn't predictable. They couldn't go, oh, well, it's gonna be

Speaker:

this Thursday, so we'll just go camp out the night before and be ready.

Speaker:

No, they were waiting and they were expectant. And the thing that I

Speaker:

see in my spirit is it's like walking into

Speaker:

at 2 o' clock in the morning and every seat is full and

Speaker:

everybody's groaning and everybody's hurting and everybody needs

Speaker:

an answer or a touch. And that is what is

Speaker:

encircling this pool of

Speaker:

ritual, of ritual cleansing. And it is into that

Speaker:

atmosphere outside the Sheep Gate, the place

Speaker:

of sacrifice. See, guys, here's what's so important. When I begin to get

Speaker:

into the words, I want to know this. I want to know. I want to

Speaker:

know what Jesus is saying.

Speaker:

I want to know who he's saying it to. I want to know

Speaker:

where he's saying it and what the

Speaker:

time is, what's going on here. And I look at this particular

Speaker:

instance and I see, I see,

Speaker:

I see the sacrificial lamb

Speaker:

walking in living water and all into this place

Speaker:

of this that are supposed to actually cleanse people and

Speaker:

heal them, yet they're surrounded by the broken,

Speaker:

they're surrounded by the desperate. And

Speaker:

Jesus walks right in and he walks

Speaker:

up to one and I asked him, I'm like, lord,

Speaker:

that why, why would you not just open your, open your

Speaker:

mouth and heal them all, Heal them all. And I

Speaker:

just felt like he went, because I needed you to see me reach one.

Speaker:

Because you reach one you can make

Speaker:

a difference with one. And so

Speaker:

he walks up to him and he says, do you want to be

Speaker:

healed? Scripture, actually, the

Speaker:

word there is actually to be made whole.

Speaker:

Do you want to be made whole? And I used to battle with that. I'm

Speaker:

like, lord, he's been sick for 38 years. Why are you asking

Speaker:

him if he wants to be healed? Why would you ask him that? It's

Speaker:

apparent that he wants to be healed. But God wasn't just going

Speaker:

for healed. God was going for whole.

Speaker:

God was going to complete a work here. See, something that

Speaker:

always bothered me a little bit too. I felt like, you know, he's making

Speaker:

excuses because he doesn't even answer the question. He says, do you wanna

Speaker:

be made whole? And the man says, I

Speaker:

have no one to help me down to the water. Before I can get

Speaker:

there, everybody's already gone ahead of me. Guys, there were

Speaker:

four tiers of stairs. I used to think, well, he's just laying by the pool.

Speaker:

Why can't he just, you know, get over to the pool? There were four tiers

Speaker:

of stamps that think, rocky, okay, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,

Speaker:

dun, dun. Okay, Trying. And he. If you were

Speaker:

infirmed, you were living under the

Speaker:

covering at the top of those steps.

Speaker:

He needed somebody. He needed

Speaker:

somebody to help him get in. But you know what,

Speaker:

guys? It is so easy sometimes for us to walk past

Speaker:

the broken, like they're not our business. It's.

Speaker:

Sometimes you drive down the road and you see somebody standing on the side of

Speaker:

the road going, I need food. And it's so easy to go,

Speaker:

well, if you get a job, you might have some food.

Speaker:

And God's going, quit turning our faces away. Quit

Speaker:

turning our faces away. Now I get it. I get it. And I totally trust

Speaker:

the Lord will say yes to this one, help that one. And then

Speaker:

I've had him go, no, no, no. I'm doing something here.

Speaker:

This is not about condemnation. This is about invitation. The

Speaker:

Lord is. I'm looking at these people and God is going, you can do one,

Speaker:

you can reach one. And so this is where I

Speaker:

believe our calling is. This is what I believe the Lord dropped in my spirit.

Speaker:

You got all these broken people all around this place, and

Speaker:

living water is being offered to one how much more everybody

Speaker:

else in this, that place would have wanted. And the Lord said, do you know,

Speaker:

you know what Bethesda means?

Speaker:

It's house of mercy. House of

Speaker:

mercy. What is mercy? What

Speaker:

is mercy? I just. I want to give it to you like he gave it

Speaker:

to Me, he's so

Speaker:

intentional. Mercy is

Speaker:

compassion and forgiveness shown

Speaker:

to someone who it is within our

Speaker:

power to punish or cause harm.

Speaker:

When the broken, the wounded, the

Speaker:

shattered, the needy, the desperate,

Speaker:

the waiting, they're all in this place that was

Speaker:

supposed to help them. And

Speaker:

Jesus walks in to the house of mercy.

Speaker:

Jesus walks into the house of mercy. Guys, I believe we are called

Speaker:

to be a house of mercy. We are supposed to

Speaker:

be a house of mercy that

Speaker:

when people. I'm just going to read it to you because he says it better

Speaker:

than I do. Into ritual, rules

Speaker:

and regulations. To the outcast and the desperate,

Speaker:

Jesus brings mercy. What

Speaker:

rules and laws could not accomplish, his mercy

Speaker:

did. His mercy did. And when did he do it? He did

Speaker:

it on the Sabbath. That broke all the rules. What do you mean? We

Speaker:

got a minister on Sundays. Isn't that against the rules? He did it

Speaker:

on a Sunday and then he tells the man to take up his

Speaker:

mat, which breaks another rule. Because you're not supposed to do that on a

Speaker:

Sunday. You're not supposed. But you know what? Jesus didn't come to break the

Speaker:

rules. He came to fulfill. He came to fulfill the

Speaker:

laws that held people bound that they couldn't accomplish

Speaker:

in themselves. Jesus

Speaker:

is calling us to be a house of

Speaker:

mercy. A house of mercy. And I'm going to read it to

Speaker:

you like this. My brothers and my sisters, if we are to be a

Speaker:

house of healing, we must first be a house of mercy.

Speaker:

A house where the broken are unafraid to walk in. A house that

Speaker:

knows the rituals but have chosen a better way. May

Speaker:

we welcome the broken, the messed up, those caught in debilitating and

Speaker:

crippling sin. The desperate, the waiting, the outcasts.

Speaker:

And once we have become a house of mercy,

Speaker:

you know what the next definer is? There are four definitions,

Speaker:

four clarifiers on what this pool of Bethesda, what

Speaker:

Bethesda means. And once we have become a house of mercy, a city,

Speaker:

it's a house of water, a house of living

Speaker:

water. Because the water had to be pure, it had to

Speaker:

be running and it had to be flowing. Otherwise it

Speaker:

would not work. For the cleansing we have the living

Speaker:

water. Guys, he is alive. And the cleansing

Speaker:

that comes through that when the broken come into this house, when

Speaker:

they feel welcome to come into this place, to be able to

Speaker:

have the living water. The living water.

Speaker:

And what is that living water? The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit.

Speaker:

And he says it'll flow out of us. And when the Holy Spirit begins

Speaker:

to flow in this house, I need you to understand that the Father will

Speaker:

begin to draw the lost. When the Holy Spirit is

Speaker:

activated and released in this place, the Father

Speaker:

begins to draw the lost. And when he begins to

Speaker:

draw the lost, God's lives are changed and people

Speaker:

are made whole. The broken thing that brought through the doors

Speaker:

is not who they are anymore. Because God

Speaker:

completes what he starts. So we are called to

Speaker:

be a house of mercy, and we are called to be a house of water.

Speaker:

My brothers and my sisters. If we are to see the broken recover,

Speaker:

we must see them and stop turning our

Speaker:

faces away. We must be a house

Speaker:

of living water, a house that is alive and flowing with

Speaker:

the presence of the Lord. We've got to welcome the Holy Spirit.

Speaker:

We've got to be a house where the Father can draw the lost.

Speaker:

How else will they hear? How else will they know?

:

38 says, Anyone who believes in me may come

:

and drink. Anyone who believes in

:

me can come and drink. For the scriptures declare

:

rivers of living water will flow from his heart.

:

When we become a house of water, when we

:

welcome the Holy Spirit and God. When. When the

:

Father begins to draw the lost.

:

I believe the next one is the third. The third moniker. And it

:

says, it's a house of kindness. It's a house of

:

kindness. I have over and over, Pastor Wayne. I have. I have

:

sung this in my spirit. It's your kindness that leads us to

:

repentance. It's your mercy, Lord, that brings us to our

:

knees. It's your kindness, Lord, that brings us to repentance.

:

I can't bring people to repentance. I can't do

:

it. But the kindness of the Lord, the

:

kindness of the Lord. Can we go there? Can we be that? Can

:

we begin to function in the kindness the

:

Lord? Romans 2. One says

:

this, for by the standard by which you judge, another,

:

you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things.

:

We know that the judgment of God on those who do such things. Do

:

you suppose then, you who judge those who engage in such

:

things and yet you do them yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?

:

Or do you hold to be priceless kindness,

:

forbearance and patience in low esteem,

:

unaware that the kindness of God would lead you

:

to repentance? The kindness of God,

:

it's the fruit of the spirit. Love,

:

joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,

:

faithfulness, gentleness and self control. And so somehow we think it's

:

for us. No. This is what's supposed

:

to be on your tree for Others to eat from

:

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

:

gentleness and self control. May we be that

:

so that when people come in, they experience the kindness of

:

the Lord that leads to repentance.

:

I can't get them saved. Saved. You can't get them

:

saved. But you can show them the kindness of the Lord.

:

My brothers and my sisters, if we are

:

to see sinners move towards repentance, we must be

:

compassionate. We must be empathetic. We must move

:

benevolently. We must be gentle and caring and

:

concerned with their welfare. We must

:

become a house of kindness. We must become

:

a house of kindness.

:

House of mercy. House of water.

:

House of kindness. Guys, this is so consistent

:

with the groundwork that has been laid in this house for generations.

:

It is so consistent with that.

:

And finally, the fourth moniker of this Bethesda pool where

:

they found healing. They called it a house

:

of grace. A house of grace.

:

I don't want to miss it. I want to give it to you exactly that

:

way. House of grace.

:

Jesus. Grace is unmerited

:

favor. I want that passage of scripture.

:

Jesus.

:

Well, maybe it's not in here. House of grace.

:

House of grace. I want the scripture.

:

It's better than when Kevin throws water at us.

:

The house of grace.

:

Grace just means you didn't deserve

:

just means you didn't deserve it. And if we're expecting people to come through

:

these doors expecting or deserving

:

grace, I got to stay outside because I don't deserve it.

:

I do not deserve. The grace of God has been washed through and over

:

my life. And we are so surrounded,

:

guys, we are surrounded by the sick and the

:

broken and those in the waiting rooms that are going,

:

I gotta have more than a ritual.

:

I gotta have more than this. I gotta have

:

something that's living and alive that will heal me and make me

:

whole. Will we be

:

a house of grace? Will we

:

welcome the lost? Will we pour into their lives? Will we

:

show them the kindness of God? Will we offer them living water?

:

Will we be that house? Yes,

:

we will be that house. We will be that house.

:

We're going to do it because I believe that's what God's calling us to do.

:

And I believe that, you know, no, it's what God's calling us to

:

do. See, the word tells me that I just confirmed the word of his servant,

:

that he confirms the word of his servant. So as I'm telling this to you,

:

there's something in your spirit going, yeah, that's right. That's

:

right. That's what we're called to do. And that's what we're going to do. I

:

need a worship team because

:

he has called us. Guys,

:

I see a time when these walls will not contain it.

:

When word gets out that goes, there's water there, there's

:

water there. You can go there. They'll minister to you, they'll love

:

on you. They'll show you the kindness of God. That leads to

:

repentance. There's restoration

:

in this house and we can't keep it to ourselves. We cannot

:

keep it to ourselves. We need to come through the doors expecting to meet God.

:

And in this place, we need to come through these doors knowing the

:

healer will be here, knowing that the Holy Spirit

:

is doing something. Jesus, help us.

:

And see, that's the thing. You can't do it,

:

I can't do it. We can't do

:

this. Oh, but Jesus can.

:

Oh, but God can. God can

:

do this. He can shake this place.

:

Every song we sang this morning was deliberate. Every

:

song we sang was calling on the name of

:

Jesus. Because without him,

:

we're just showing up on another Sunday. But with him,

:

the walls come down. With him, the broken come

:

in and they leave restored. People who are

:

addicted, people who are in sin,

:

they leave home because they encounter the Holy

:

Spirit on the inside of you. Can you be that house?

:

Can you be that house that comes in going, God, we are depending

:

on you. We are trusting that the Holy Spirit is going to do

:

something amazing in this place. Can we be that house?

:

We're going to be that house. And if you want to be a part of

:

that house, if you want to be a part of seeing lives changed and people

:

restored to their faith, this is where you want to be.

:

Cuz things are getting ready to change. I feel it in my spirit,

:

I feel it in my spirit that we are right there on the

:

precipice of something that's going to change.

:

Well, we thought we knew about Spring House and it's going to be

:

him. It's going to be him. I'm going to tell you this. Make room,

:

make room, make room. Because just

:

like the people gathered under the five porches

:

waiting because they had heard something was happening, the

:

porches are getting ready to get feedback because they're

:

going to hear that something's happening here. See, it didn't matter in verse

:

four if it was an angel or if it was the Lord that touched the

:

water, something was happening. I'm ready for

:

something to happen. I'm ready for the sick to be healed.

:

I'm ready for the broken to be mended. I'm ready for the

:

lost to be saved and to find Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

:

I am ready for the Lord to do what only he can do.

:

And it's only Jesus. Only

:

Jesus. And so here's what we're going to do. We are going

:

to stand up. They're like, no, I'm not standing.

:

We're going to stand up. And I have asked

:

them to play the song. I know a name.

:

I know a name. Do you know the name?

:

Do you know the name? Well, here's what I'm going to ask you to do.

:

We anybody in this room who this

:

resonates with, if you believe God has called you, has called

:

this church to be a healing house, to be a house where

:

the Holy Spirit is welcomed and that the Father can come

:

and draw the people. Draw the people. I'm going to

:

invite you into the altar space, and we are going to begin to declare the

:

name of Jesus. Because without Jesus, it's not going to work. Work

:

with Jesus. He finishes what he starts. So we're

:

going to say, I know a name. And we're going to worship.

:

We're going to declare that name and we're going to watch the walls come down

:

and God begin a work that we cannot begin. So let's go, guys.

:

Father. God bless you, Lord. Bless you, Lord. Bless you,

:

Lord.
