Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
God. Joshua 1:9. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 29 of 30 Days of Pushing Back Fear. We’ve run across a similar verse more than once during these 30 days. But I want you to notice the beginning of this one. It adds a unique anti-fear twist: “Have not I commanded you?” That is the upfront reason for not fearing—or being full of anxiety, in the face of intimidating odds. God has called the shots, he’s directing the next steps . . . And I’m just following his lead. That means the odds are NOT against me—they’re stacked high in my favor. After all, if God is for us, does anything else matter? If the mission I’m on, is his—wow, I CAN be full of courage, and undaunted strength.
