Shownotes
Did you know that some of your favorite actors started out in commercials, appeared in TV shows, or jumped right into film when they were mere tots? Of course you did! Today we’re talking about just a few who came to mind—not nearly an exhaustive list!
Some highlights:
- Reese Witherspoon in “The Man in the Moon,” directed by Robert Mulligan of “To Kill a Mockingbird” fame
- Ethan Hawke in “Explorers,” also starring River Phoenix
- Malcolm Jamal Warner in a certain Show
- Frankie Muniz in “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Big Fat Liar”
- Will Smith in “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” (does that count? He did start rapping at age 12.)
- Shannon Dougherty in “Little House on the Prairie” and others
We discuss then and a few from now. That is, a few things we’ve seen them in recently. For example: “The Morning Show,” “The Purge,” “Accused,” and “Emancipation.”
Next week: You’ll hear in the episode that we were planning to discuss films by indigenous filmmakers. We’re pushing that to later in the year. We’ll be chatting about “Hijack” on AppleTV+ (Idris Elba!) and the late Mark Margolis.
