Shownotes

“Once a week, it would be really nice to hear like, ‘what are you currently up to?’ Maybe you were doing one new personal skill that was completely random, but yet, it was exciting. Share it out to everyone,” suggests Ari Krzyzek, CEO and Head of Strategy at Chykalophia and Co-Host of Halo Femtech Podcast. Ari is originally from Bali and moved to the U.S. to start her business after realizing that there were not enough resources available to her in her home country. Today, Ari joins host Kiley Peters to talk about establishing a global culture as an entrepreneur.

When Ari was establishing her business in the U.S. she looked to Indonesia for talent, because that is what she was familiar with. In this way her business developed naturally into a global business which now has employees spanning 5 different countries. In order to maintain a global business, it is important to be cognizant of different cultural needs as well as logistical difficulties like time zones. Over time Ari figured out workarounds for these challenges such as providing 10 personal days a year to cover each country’s individual holidays and having a weekly meeting where the team can catch each other up on their personal lives.

Establishing a global business can be a difficult task and there are a lot of things to consider such as how to work around different time zones. However, by removing the barrier of location, it is often easier to find the perfect person for the job. Tune into this episode of Welcome To Eloma to learn more about the benefits of hiring people from other countries and how to combat the challenges of melding different cultural and scheduling needs.

Quotes

  • “In terms of time zone differences, I think it has to be something that you are willing to give to your team as well, in order to really build that relationship. I feel like it truly shows when you are willing to work with them and help accommodate their needs. They will respect you so much, because they feel like `oh, man, my boss is willing to negotiate things with me, that really shows confidence from them knowing that, hey, I can trust my boss, I can really feel not just connected in a way but also feel appreciated.” (11:28-12:00 | Ari)
  • “Once a week, it would be really nice to hear like, ‘what are you currently up to?’ Maybe you were doing one new personal skill that was completely random, but yet, it was exciting. Share it out to everyone.” (16:21-16:35 | Ari)
  • “I think you'll know when you find it and you realize this person is going to help me so much in my business, this person is going to contribute so much into the growth of my company. And you will figure it out together with them.” (21:29-21:43 | Ari)
  • “There's always going to be bad apples, right? There's always going to be people like that. And I feel like a lot of us might feel discouraged from just one experience with bad apples. But, I would encourage you don't stop, because you will be amazed.” (28:26-28:41 | Ari)
