Today, we dive into the core principles of Bible 805: Know, Trust, Apply, and Teach the Bible. I share how these four aspects are essential for anyone looking to deepen their relationship with Scripture. It’s all about getting familiar with the Bible’s content so that it becomes a part of who you are. We also touch on why trusting the Bible is crucial, especially during tough times. Plus, I’ll highlight practical resources to help you apply these teachings in real life and share them with others.

Welcome to the Ministry Miscellany Podcast A collection of tools, strategy and challenges for Bible teachers from me, Yvon Prehn, someone who's been teaching the Bible ever since As a third grader, I started to teach the kindergartners at my church about Jesus. I've never quit doing that, and along the way I've picked up some practices, strategies and resources that might be useful to you.
Following is an A.I. generated transcript that comes with this hosting site. It can be a bit odd in places and because of that I have a copy of the script on the Bible805.com under the Practical Ministry tab.
Our topic for today is Know, Trust,.
Speaker B:Our topic for today is Know, Trust, Apply, and Teach the Bible
I'll talk about what that means to Bible 805 and to you. I decided that it was time to do an update on what's going on in the Bible 805 ministry as I've been doing quite a bit of work on it.
Now everything isn't finished, but there are so many resources there that can benefit you.
I thought instead of just doing bits and pieces and ministry updates on on different specific things which are helpful and which I'll keep doing, I wanted to give you an over of what the ministry has for you. So here goes. First of all, I wanted to explain to you I always identify Bible 805 by saying it's all about know, trust, apply and teach the Bible.
Now I'd like to go into detail on what each one of these terms actually means in the ministry and the resources that will help you. First, before I go into them though, on the Bible805 website www.bible805.com I have links to all of the things that I'm talking about.
Obviously here on the on the podcast I can tell you about them, but the website does have specific links. So first of all, what do I mean by know the Bible? I want you to simply get to know the content of the Bible and from that, the God of the Bible.
It all starts here, just with the knowing.
Because of that, I emphasize again and again reading the Bible or listening to it whichever way you want to take it in, and specifically going through the Bible in chronological order and doing it every year.
Now, there are many negative voices even in the ministry, even in churches today that say things like, well, people already know what's in the Bible, but I have found when I talk to them that few actually know it as well as I think they do.
Another thing though, that I hear is, well, you know, requiring people to read frequently or oh my goodness, daily, that that's just leg that people can read it every day and not really read it. They're just not even thinking about what it's saying.
Now I know there are some valid parts to these objections, but regardless of that, my recommendation is read your Bible again or listen to it, but get the content. Get the content of the Bible inside of you every single day. Now what happens if you do that?
If you really get to know the Bible, the content of the Bible will become part of the background of your thought patterns. This will color how you read other scriptures. You'll read things in context. You'll know.
When someone says, oh, that's in the Bible, they go, no, it's not. And one of the best things though about this overall familiarity with the Bible is that you get to know your God.
From internalizing the content of how he's acted over millennia of human history, you will develop a quiet trust in how he's going to act towards you. Now, a popular. As I was putting this together, a popular song from long ago came into my mind.
That when something like to know, know know him is to love, love, love him. Romance aside, when you get to know the God of the Bible, you, you will grow in your love for Him.
Now there's a lot of specific content from Bible 805 that addresses this whole idea of simply getting to know the Bible. First of all, I have the book Start. Here it is. I shouldn't say first of all.
First of all I have the schedules, but I wanted to tell you about a new thing that I have. It's a book called Start A Plan for Curious People to Begin Reading the Bible.
If people are totally new to the Bible and not ready to jump into reading the whole thing, I put together a reading plan that just involves the New Testament. I give you the background on it, overviews of the different books, I recommend translations, I give you a schedule.
There are journal pages, all everything that you need. It's available on Amazon, it's only $9.95 and I highly, highly recommend that for people. Then totally for free.
I have tons of material on how to read through the Bible chronologically. I've got sketch schedules, explanations of the Bible 805 approach, which is more of an overview historical approach. It's not verse by verse teaching.
Lots of people do great work on that. Mine's a little bit different, but I have motivational videos for you to get your people into it.
Lots of infographics and lessons on all the books of the Bible.
To do that again go to the Bible805 website and I link you to all those things which by the way, I put in a whole new drop down menu at the top of the website homepage so that hopefully things will be much easier to find there. Are a couple of foundational lessons that I would really or actually they're series that I would really recommend that you check out.
First of all, I have one on the Trinity. You really need to know your God and the Trinity is not confusing. It's not hard to understand.
Most people just haven't really looked at what the Bible says about it. I have a series of three lessons that I think will help you tremendously. This and to pass on to your people.
I know I've taught this a number of times and people always afterwards go, well, I wasn't so hard. Oh really? Oh, okay. So check that out then.
Of course it's so important that your people know once they know who their God is, to know him as Savior and Lord. And then I have a link of course on the website to a series of lessons on what salvation is all about and evangelism.
And again, if you'd like to look at the videos, all of the content, check out my YouTube channel. It's just YouTube Bible 805 and I've got hundreds of videos on there, short ones, long ones, half an hour full on teaching ones.
And I've recently posted I'm just on a Roll kind of posting Hundreds of little 60 second shorts that seem to be really speaking to people. So check all that out. The next thing of course is the podcast and I'm I have the Bible. There's two different things now.
I'm as of today, it's the end of April, I'm revising and updating both of these, so please be patient while I get them a little bit more worked out.
But I have two podcasts, the Bible 805 podcast and also a Through the Bible podcast where I am redoing all of the different books of the Bible as you go through it Again, check out the Bible 805 website for links to the podcast which are available on all of your popular podcast channels and on YouTube and through the website however you want to listen to them Next we get into trusting the Bible.
Now for those that are timid in heart for the untrusting and honestly for all of us in our dark nights of the soul, we need to go beyond content alone to why we can trust these words that tell us about God. I needed that and it was my personal search and research that resulted in the Lesson series on why history helps us understand the Bible.
I have redone my previous why We Can Trust the Bible and I'm in the process of getting all that loaded up on the website. The basic Lesson series Why we can trust the Bible is available and it goes through. First of all, starts out what is truth?
How history and archaeology help us. And then I also contrast and compare the historical truth, what I call the historical anchors of our Bible, with the scriptures of other religions.
I think you'll find that incredibly helpful to build your trust in the Bible. Again, links on that on the Bible805 website. Now keep in mind, Bible805 is not an apologetic site, but the Lord led me to study history.
I have a master's degree in church history and so there's lots of things along with that that I pass on to you. Next of course is apply the Bible. Now both of the characteristics above of the ministry to get to know the Bible.
Trust the Bible are really important, but they're primarily foundational and if they don't translate into life change, they're of little value.
The goal of everything that I do in Bible 805 is to help you become like Jesus, to grow in your apprentices, your discipleship, whatever term you happen to prefer these days, but to help you be obedient to him, to be motivated and skilled in your service to him. Now this is my recommendations are very active, very do this, do that. Bible 805 is not a contemplative site.
There are many great resources for that, but the content will vary clearly in my lessons whatever site application now and then I'll go into specific recommendations. My goal is not for you to have a knowledge filled but dead faith, but one that is alive and active in your life and in service to the world.
Application sections and comments are in all the lessons.
Now much more specifically, I have just recently put together what you might refer to as a much more specifically application heavy part of the website and that's the miscellaneous Ministry podcast which is practical advice for Bible Teach the Hobo Soul podcast which is a two times a week. Two times a week. Excuse me, casual faith encouragements. And then I also on the website have a practical ministry dropdown section.
So lots for you on application and then finally to teach. I've just added this the last few years because people kept requesting my materials and I'd give them away freely, you know, like you want this?
Okay, here's the, you know, I'll send you a PowerPoint, I'll send you a this or that. And I realized that I should make these available to everybody. So I put together the Bible 805 website. Excuse me, the Bible805academy.com website.
Please check it out.
Just many, many, many people from all over the world have downloaded hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of lessons and videos and PowerPoints and all of the things that are on the site are organized under each of the lessons. I'm working on making all editable. Most of them are, but there's a number of them I'm still trying to update. But they're editable.
You can use them without attribution. There's no cost, it's just free for you to teach the Word of God again.
All of that is available on www.bible805academy.com so no trust, apply and teach the Bible. That's what the Bible805 website is all about.
If you want to know more me, you can go to the website and my ministry, my background, all that kind of thing. I know I always check out people that I listen to. I've got all that link to it on the homepage on the Bible805 website.
And also please do on the website sign up for the Lion's Voice, which is my newsletter that, Lord willing, I'm going to start publishing weekly to let you know about all of the new things that are on the website. So know, trust, Apply and teach the Bible. If that appeals to you, check out Bible805.com.

Speaker A:Daniel 12, where it says, those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness like the stars, forever and ever. That's you, someone who leads many to righteousness.
Speaker B:And in doing that, may you be.
Speaker A:Ever growing in your reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit, in the deepening of your friendship with Jesus, and in your trust in the goodness of God the Father, never forgetting in all the hard work you do that you have a glorious heritage where you will shine like the stars forever and ever.
